"Every day she thanked God that He was in the business of making something out of nothing. After all, that was what they'd left her with." Eventually, Lyric had built a new life for herself. Owning and managing eight vacation cabins near Benson, Washington afforded Lyric a sense of freedom from her past, in spite of battling the occasional bouts of loneliness and boredom. Unfortunately, in spite of all of her hard work, trouble had found her, and she was being pressured to sell out. Additionally, being in the same space as Isaac Amrakov was something she had never imagined would happen; apparently he was trying to live a "do over" as well.
Seeing a living, breathing version of Lyric again sends a powerful jolt through Isaac's psyche. Sure, he'd had ways of knowing where she was and what she had been doing over the years (it's what intelligence agents did), he'd even intervened on her behalf (anonymously, of course), saving her life when no one else cared. But she'd never known, and Isaac wasn't sure that he wanted her to. Now thrown back together into the same community with new goals in life, the two highly trained former operatives have to figure out how to resume civilian life, co-existing without dredging up old wounds . . . . or can something much deeper be at play . . . . like God's will for their futures . . . . even though they are playing a dangerous game . . . on behalf of justice.
These characters! These wonderful, infuriating, complex characters! They grab hold and refuse to let go. Yes, there is non-stop action. Yes, Lyric and Isaac struggle mightily to do what is right. Wonderful book of danger and suspense!
Lyric Thompson has been given a second chance at life through the Accountants group. She has purchased a cabin resort in hopes to acclimate to a normal life after the CIA left her to die in a foreign prison. When a friend disappears she uses her skills to investigate, putting her in the sights of the same people that took her friend. Isaac has also been given a new life after being exonerated of the theft of a nuclear device. He has been hired on as a construction worker but his boss and a few of the men seem to have a side job going on. When he begins investigating as a CI to the FBI, his investigation starts to coincide with Lyric’s. Their past created a divide between them but working closely together renews their feelings. Will they be able to stay alive long enough to find the answers to what is going on around them?

Hatd Target is Hard to Put Down
This book could be good as a stand-alone, but book 1 made me curious about Lyric. It was great to get to know her. I loved getting insights from unfinished threads from the last series. There’s excitement, suspense, and romance but the best theme is that no one, no matter what their life has been, is too far gone for God’s redeeming love. It’s irrational and unbelievable until you’ve experienced it, like me.

She did it again.
Lisa Phillips is quickly becoming one of my favorite writers. Isaac has been a huge part of all her stories and now to meet Lyric. It doesn't get any better than that. I love that way she ties up loose ends. But keeps you looking with expectancy for the next book.

A Great Book!
This book was filled with suspense, mystery and romance. My kind of book! Just when you think it’s going to end then bam out of the blue something horrible happens to change the course of many lives. I’m hooked and can’t wait for the next book to be released later in May. Great writing with faith filled messages. I would definitely recommend it!!

Isaac!
I’ve been waiting to get my hands on Isaac’s story. As part of the new series, it has a different feel than the original Last Chance and Chevalier books, but it was worth the wait. Isaac and Lyric are an excellent match, and I love their relationship. There are a few things I’d like to see as the series goes on, so I’m definitely looking forward to the next books.

Lyric and Isaac
Oh wow lots and lots of action, fear, and FAITH. I can’t really stress enough how Big Our GOD is. This is a story about how much our God is here for us no matter what circumstances are facing us. Read read read this very well written novel. Can’t wait to read your review.

Enjoyed
Good characters, mystery, really enjoyed that prayer and faith in God was included in these books. The only thing sometimes I got confused the way things were worded and backed up re-read for it to make sense to me. Please read and enjoy

Keep your attention

This story has lots of action & mystery. Lyric likes to do her investigation by herself which causes her problems. Isaac has a difficult time keeping her safe & do his own investigation for the Accountant's Office. I was on the edge of my seat waiting for what would happen next for both of them.

Keeps getting better with every book.

Great books!
I started with the First Responders series before I knew about this one. Everything I've read are really good storylines. I love how both series are connecting. It's so refreshing to read books with God being a big part of the lives of everyone.

Hard to get into it
I really had a hard time getting into this story line when I mostly tak 2 days ro read a. Book this on was a month, I am going to start book two and see how it works foe me thanks for rhe read I loved the last few chapters

The intriguing character, Isaac, was introduced in the Chevalier Protection Specialists series; so, it was a long wait to get his story... but it was worth waiting for because I knew it was going to be good... and it was.

I was waiting through the entirety of the last series for Isaac to get his book. I will admit to being slightly disappointed that there wasn’t the connections that I expected. This was a good read, and it kept my attention. There is suspense, romance, and characters we grew to love in the last book. I was hoping for more of a connection with our characters pasts, rather than new enemies. A solid Christian romantic suspense with faith, twists, and turns. I’m interested to continue this series.
