Story: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Trope: kidnapping/captive
Angst: 😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥🔥

If you're looking for the morally gray character with the secret heart of gold, Asher isn't it. The man has no heart and has no soul, lol. Pretty much psycho 🤷🏻‍♀️. I really enjoyed the story, we pretty much knew what we were getting with Asher in the first book and he didn't disappoint. Nice little kernels dropped for the next book and I can't wait!!

This is part of the Horsemen Mafia Romance Series. If you like dark, mafia romances that are full of danger and drama, then this book's for you. Asher is one of the four horsemen and a dark soul who's kinda scary at times. He's a known killer usually void of emotion. The story takes place on Helka Island, a top vacation spot in the Caribbean. The four horsemen are from different crime families and together they control Europe, South America and North America. Elena is a DA in New York and ends up witnessing something that she shouldn't have and Asher is told to eliminate her. Something prevents him from doing so. The story is told from a dual POV and is full of angst. The story is a page turner but ends with an HEA and no cliffhanger. A great read that I enjoyed. I read an advance reader copy via Bad Boy Updates and voluntarily chose to review it.

This is the second book in this series and it can be read as a standalone. This read is about Asher, who is the red horseman and the enforcer for the group. Elena is in the wrong place at the wrong time and witnesses something she shouldn’t have, instead of killing her, Asher decides to take her home and she ends up locked in his basement. Asher knows that the others will want her dead or he will get bored of her and kill her himself. What will happen when the fall for each other instead. Can Asher keep her safe? Fast-paced read with plenty of twists and turns, sizzling scenes and dram. I loved this mafia read.

I like these first two stories in the series, but I gotta say it (sorry for the soap box), but in this day and age, why are there no safe sex practices? They don't even speak of it.. "Protection" ever hear of it? smh. Otherwise, Asher is one of the best anti heroes I've read in a long time. Maybe ever.

I liked the inner conflict the heroines go through with falling for the bad guy. I appreciated that because that element is often downplayed in similar books that I've read.

The chemistry is not great, and while Asher obviously goes through a character arc, the romance development itself lacked a comparable arc. I had a hard time believing in Elena authentically falling for him, based on the pacing of his arc. The plot is not without its holes, but I could overlook them. Horrible grammar issues, though.

So the hero kills someone and heroine accidentally witnesses it. He should kill her but instead kidnaps her to his island. She wakes up chained in his basement.

He tells her he won't rape her, and she should be grateful he saved her life. He refuses to let her go home.

So there are lots of scenes with them eating and talking together. He forces her to take showers naked in front of him and sit in the hot tub naked with him.

Hero has a fellow assassin he works with, who hates the heroine. She wants the heroine gone. Hero never slept with her and never will. She is upset by that.

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

When she finally sleeps with the hero, it's because she saw "the other woman" lurking in the hallway and decides she needs to sleep with the hero so other woman can't cause more trouble. She then vomits afterwards and tells the hero to leave.

I just didn't feel any romance or any connection between them. The hero keeps saying she's different from other women and I just didn't see that at all.

After the other woman tries to kill heroine, hero kills the other woman. He then tells heroine he'll let her go home. But she decides to stay.

Asher & Elena: No Chemistry. They Needed More Time and a Better Plot

Asher, the most sinister and violent of the Horsemen ran into an unfortunate complication while doing a favor for fellow Horseman, Elijah. The complication was Elena, an innocent bystander to his crime. Instead of killing her, which is standard protocol, he decides to take him with her back to the Horseman's residence, Helka Island, as his prisoner and toy to do with as he wishes.

Elena, a District Attorney, is in the wrong place at the wrong time. Finding herself chained in Asher's basement, she tries to keep her sanity and fight her attraction to her captor.

I was excited to see that Asher was going to be the next book in the Horsemen series. Unfortunately, his book was very underwhelming. I have no idea why the author decided to make Elena a District Attorney, the very moral opposite of Asher. In truth, the story just didn't work of hold weight. Asher was cruel to Elena and his method of mind-game torture of her throughout the book is astounding. Hence, I have no idea how she developed warm fuzzy feelings for Asher and vice versa. There was no time in this book where there was a turning point in their relationship. Elena's reasons for giving into Asher were baseless. I mean, who sleeps with someone and falls in love with someone because they enjoy their banter and are a good conversationalist? Makes absolutely zero sense.

Nevertheless, I loved Asher. He delivered some of the best lines in this book. Elena was neither here or there with me. I didn't really connect with her. The reasoning behind the eventual pairing and the declaration of love to each other in this book was borderline ridiculous. It simply made no sense. I think that if they would have perhaps used the conflict of her being a DA in the story, there would have been a better plot for a storyline.

Happy reading!

Asher, one of the Horsemen, is an accomplished assassin and heir to the Columbian drug cartel. He's in the process of destroying a competing cartel, and he does it so cruelly that it's evident that he has no heart. Elena is a DA in New York but sees Asher committing a crime and witnesses can't be tolerated, so Asher abducts her. Back on Helka Island where the Four Horseman rule, he locks her in a dungeon while he decides if she should live or die. Before he can think about it, Elena starts to get under his skin and something he's never felt before, stirs in his heart. Their chemistry simply sizzles, there's no doubt about it, but Elena has her doubts as to whether he's her nemesis or protector. When Asher's protege has had enough of Asher's interest in Elena, she decides to get her out of the way. Felicity has been with him since he saved her from sex-traffickers, and he has trained her to fight and defend. Asher has to make a split decision which one he will save when Felicity goes after Elena with a knife. This is a fascinating story and the growth in all of the characters is magnificent. I could feel the relationship shifting, especially in Asher, and it was a joy to watch. The most heartless of the Horsemen ends up having the biggest heart of them all!

Asher...The Red Horsemen ❤🔥🔥🔥❤

WOW!!! Welcome back to Helka Island, the vacation destination hot spot with beautiful blue waters. It's also run by The Four Horsemen, sons of four different mafia families. Asher is the red horseman and is feared for his emotionless persona and deadly skills. Elena is district attorney in Manhattan and is in the wrong place at the wrong time. Witnessing a back alley murder isn't on the top of her list but getting kidnapped by the killer definitely isn't either. Now held captive can she play by his rules to survive???Elena brings out a side of Asher he never knew was possible and makes him try to be a better man while she'll fight him tooth and nail. How can she start to feel something for Asher, he's everything she's against?? When someone has other plans for Elena, Asher will stop at nothing to protect her even if that means letting her go. Asher just might prove there actually is a beating heart in his chest. A MUST READ!!! His/her POV, no cliffhanger and a story filled with danger, lust and a HEA. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book and happily purchased a copy for my favorites collection. Looking forward to the next Horsemen story.

Wow! I absolutely loved reading this book it was amazing, this story sucked me in from the start and the author had done a brilliant job writing this story. The characters were fantastic, these characters have a few popping in and out then you have the two main characters Elena a top notch Lawyer and then you have Asher is one of the four Horseman. All four of the Horseman own and live on Helka Island in the Caribbean. Asher was away doing a job and when he finished he noticed a female witnessed what he had done, he had two choices on what to do and he chose to take her she was injected and taken to his place. Elena when she woke up from being drugged she found herself in a basement, she kept pleading to let her go she won't say anything. There was so much going on with action, suspense, violence, murder, torture, kidnapping, enemies, anger, frustration, fear, courage, strength, secrets, pain, sorrow, struggles, dominance, submission, steamy, spicy, passion, lust and more emotions throughout the book. I would recommend buying this book it is so worth it.

One evening on her way home Elena sees something she shouldn't have seen and as a result she is taken by Asher, member of the mafia organization "the 4 Horsemen". Asher doesn't really know what to do with her, he doesn’t want to kill her, but what should he do with her? The beginning of an unreal passionate relationship. Exciting to read, and it certainly made me curious about the stories of the other Horsemen. It is a standalone story, but there are references to the other stories and there are recurring characters.
What I found funny is that it focused on the happening on the island where Elena is imprisoned, her home situation is not discussed, is her family or employer not surprised that she has disappeared? The answer itself is not necessary for this story, it is a complete story without this knowledge, but hey, I just started thinking about it.
At the end, when Asher has to make a difficult choice, Elena decides to stay with him. She knows that he is a dangerous man, but also sees his caring side, which he shows her especially. Entertaining. story, well written in an easy to read, accessible writing style.

Asher by Terry Towers is the perfectly designed dramatic romance I was hoping it would be.

Imagine being swept away to Helka Island by a mysterious and murderous man. This is the exact position Elena finds herself in, after being in the wrong place at the wrong time. As one of the 4 Horsemen, Asher, takes his job seriously, and regrets nothing he does. In fact, Asher is as cold-hearted as they come... That is until he meets the one beautiful and intriguing (albeit stubborn) woman, that makes him doubt everything.

I encourage every single romance junkie, like myself, to pick up a copy of this page-turner ASAP, and get lost for a while in the fictional tale Terry has crafted just for us. Discover what transpires between 2 unlikely (but perfectly matched) characters, with insane chemistry and a whole lot of attitude. It seems like his 'captive' completely captivates him, and Elena is not as opposed to him as she seems.

I am now impatiently awaiting the next installment to the Horsemen series. I can't wait!

I was beyond fortunate to have requested an advanced reader's copy of Asher, from The Bad Boy Update, in exchange for my honest and voluntarily given opinion.

I highly recommend reading this publication.

Elena really knows how to find trouble and witnessing a murder well it gets her abducted by one of the 4 Horsmen Asher everything runs red for him hes the Horsemen of war he dosen't particularly care about upsetting anyone and killing comes easy now hes got a confusing temptation locked in a room why didn't he just kill her.

Elena hates her new capture but trading barbs with Asher are more pleasurable then dealing with his love sick psychotic protégé Flicity who can't wait to kill her so who will Asher choose when things change between him and Elena old loyalty are the person who made him find his cold black hart.

I liked Asher's character he was dark and didn't try to make himself into some kind of hero he did change some because of Elena. Elena was a little harder to grasp as a D.A. she should have had more since then to go down a dark alley she and Asher seemed like complete opposites too I didn't really get them as a couple until almost the end Felicity crazy though she was helped keep the story moving along.

This has some dark themes murder, abduction and torture while a character tried to escape I was allowed to read and advance copy of this ARC via Booksprout and this is my honest review.

A wonderful read, great characters and plot a compelling read
This was a compelling read which I have thoroughly enjoyed every moment of and I hope that like me you will find it difficult to put the book down once you begin reading. After Elena had accidently witnessed Asher “Taking Care Of Loose Ends” as he said and this is quite simply what had lead to her being kidnapped.
Elena wakes up in an aeroplane which is taking her to only he knows where and this is a book that grabbed my attention completely and I have to say that once I began reading, I loved every moment of the book and look forward to future books in this series.
I do not want to spoil the plot so will say no more about the three of them, I assure you that you will enjoy every single moment of this book.
I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.

This is the second book in the The Horsemen series by Terry Towers and is just as good as book 1, Elijah. The Horsemen are the sons of four different very powerful mafia families, who built a hedonistic playground on Helka Island. They are all brutal, driven men who take what they want, when they want. Asher is the red horseman and he kills without remorse and appears cold to most. Elena is a district attorney in Manhattan and sees something she shouldn't which puts her in danger. She is kidnaped by Asher, taken to Helka Island, and held maybe against her will, but to keep her safe. There is sizzling chemistry between these two and soon that grows into an inferno. Elena brings out a very different side to Asher. There is crazy steam, action, twists, turns, suspense, and drama. The book is well paced, the characters are well developed, what more could you ask for? How about you can read this book and book 1 for free with your Kindle Unlimited subscription. Awesome series!.

Asher is part of The Four Horsemen, and he is on a job when he takes Elena back to Helka Island with him. Elena is a DA in New York and was just going home from a date when she sees something that she shouldn't have. The next thing she knows is she's waking up on a jet hand cuffed to the seat. Asher doesn't understand why he brought her home with him, but he can't seem to find it in himself to kill her or let her go. Sparks fly between them even though she doesn't want to be attracted to him Elena's body shows otherwise. His right-hand woman Felicity isn't happy about Elena being there and has made it known to Elena. Will Elena ever get free from her basement cage? Will something more grow between them during her captivity?

This is an amazing story that once I started it I couldn't put it down. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Elena saw something that she wasn’t suppose to see,so Asher had to control the ending.
Asher, one of the famous Horsemen,is the Horse of War. This means he is an assassin, and good at it. It also helps he is the heir to the Colombian Drug Cartel.
Elena is a New York DA. She stands for anything that is right and against anything that is bad or dangerous.
Asher takes Elena to the Famous Helka Island, the strong hold of the Horsemen. She tries to escape and tries his patients, but in the end they start to have feelings for each other.
There is a threat towards Elena, by a woman that Asher rescued and trained to be a top knoch security person, she’s in love with Asher, and tries to kill Elena,. Asher takes her out to protect Elena.
They decide to give each other a chance and fall in love with each other and Elena stays on the Island with him.

Book Two of the Horsemen is Captivating!
Asher is the darkest of the Horsemen so is he capable of finding love?
By kidnapping Elana he attempts to be civil but it seems like he’s growing a heart. Elana, a DA from Manhattan finding herself at the wrong place at the wrong time, is a study in how a person with a strong moral compass can become attractive to her kidnapper. Enter the perfectly antagonist, Felicity, the perfect vehicle for Asher and Elana to become closer.
This storyline is a continuation from book one with Elijah and Ashleigh appearing in this book. The plot pulled me in immediately and held my interest throughout. I’m definitely recommending this and book one for your reading enjoyment, pleasure and satisfaction. PEACE.

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. Asher is one of the four Horsemen on Helka Island. This place was created by the powerful men who rule the families. Asher didn't want the complications that Elena brought but he also couldn't get rid of her. She is a witness that complicates things. They are on opposing sides with no idea how to proceed. When someone else tries to do what Asher couldn't, the connection they feel cannot be denied any longer. This is another good book in the Horsemen mafia series. Full of conflict, danger, surprises, passion and finally love. Another one of the sons falls hard. Looking forward to the next book.

If you love mafia romances then the Horsemen series if what you want! Asher is one of the Horsemen, brothers by choice and loyal to the end. Asher heads to NYC as a favor to Elijah. He has never left a witness live before, but there is something about Elena that makes him take her back to the island. Elena wakes up chained to a wall, happy to be alive, until she realizes that she isn't going anywhere anytime soon. She should hate her captor, but there is something about him that makes her hate him just a little less. Asher must balance the danger she poses by being alive with the attraction he is fighting. I love watching the super alpha mafia man get handled by a women he should not trust. I loved his story!! I received this ARC from Bad Boy Updates.

This is the second book in a series of the Four Horsemen, sons of the four most powerful Mafia families in Europe, and both of the America's, South and North. They work out of Helsa Island in the Caribbean, which is a blue water paradise...Asher is the Red Horseman, a stone-cold killer...nothing gets to him...but then there was Elena, a Manhattan DA who was in the wrong place at the wrong time and witnessed Asher kill...so he took her prisoner...but could a heart beat under the cold exterior, that Elena's presence is heating up??? You will need to read this captivating tale to find out...I voluntarily read this book through an Advanced Reader Copy.

Elena, the female lead, happens to witness a murder on her way home. One of the murderers, Asher, the male lead, abducts her as she’s a loose end. He SHOULD kill her but he can’t seem to and he doesn’t know quite what to do with her…

This story is dual POV, and has an interesting premise. I read it because I liked the blurb and I found the characters interesting but couldn’t ever really discern why Asher wouldn’t kill her (as in, why he’d keep her around long enough to develop feelings) and/or why Elena would like him and decide to stay with him.

A fast paced story that kept me glued to the pages until the very end. There is so much going on, action adventure, danger, survival, mystery, intrigue, trust, pain, fear, kidnapping, hope, happiness, passion and love. Elena is in the wrong place at the wrong time and sees Asher murder someone so he has to take her with him and figure out what to do with her. What will happen to Elena? Will Asher have to kill her? Will she find the good in Asher and stay with him? Highly recommend. Can't wait for Isaac to come out.

Horseman book 2

Wow, so far both books have been quite captivating and I literally read the first book yesterday, and the second today, and once this review is complete I am going onto the third and I know I won't be disappointed. I actually liked Ashers story better then Elijahs, but I also liked Ashers character when he first got introduced in book one, the small snippet he appeared I was already wanting to wrap book 1 up and move on to the seemingly heartless man and wondered how he was going to get wrapped up to eventually find feelings. Wrapping this up now to make a coffee and move forward to the next 2 horseman

Spicy, quick and engaging mafia read- I’m definitely adding the rest of the Horsemen to my TBR! I love interconnected series that include standalones because this girl just cannot do drawn out slowburns every single time! Asher was a bit on the psycho side for me…I like my alpha mob dudes to be a least a little redeeming. Elena was pretty awesome though and I love that she handled herself like a true boss against Asher. Grab this book for a quick, engaging read with plot and spice!.

This is the second book in the series and it doesn't disappoint.
After witnessing a murder Elena is drugged and taken to Helka Island where the Four Horsemen rule.
Asher knows that he should have killed Elena but instead he brings her to his home and has her locked in his basement.
There is a spark between them that shouldn't be there as he us a ruthless killer and she is a DA but when someone wants her dead he will do everything to protect her.
Could they get their HEA. A must read.

There Can only be ONE…

Oh my goodness… The Horsemen… Asher…
I thought book one was good. But Asher is definitely a force to recon with, and Elena makes the drama complete.

This is the first time I’ve ever read and reviewed anything from this author. Although I did read Elijah’s story to give me some back ground on each one. I’m DEFINITELY looking forward to seeing more.

Asher and Elena, wow! Loved the intensity. The undercurrent of violence was ever present and there was still the moments of sarcastic comedy that broke up the intensity and made all more human. Asher and Elena were quite the pair and the plot and twists added so much complexity to their story. The intimacy was so hot descriptively and because of the built-up tension. Loved the HEA as well. The four horsemen are totally intriguing!

A step too far

Unfortunately, of all the horsemen stories I’ve read so far this one is the most difficult to swallow.
A narcissistic, unfeeling, psychopathic killer turns into a sweet, loving man. The change just didn’t ring true.

As is common with these stories so far are the editorial issues. This one was by far the worse. Really needs proof reading to remove the numerous silly mistakes, like ‘her’ used when it clearly should be ‘him’, ‘I’ instead of ‘in’ the list is pretty long.

The author has given us a heart pounding story that pulls us into the lives of the Four Horsemen. Asher has done the unthinkable and kidnapped a witness instead of killing her.
