Farming is my dream life, but one thing I'm not cultivating? Feelings for the handsome new neighbor.
I am not fanning myself because Parker Bingham, the hottest actor in Hollywood, is my new neighbor. If I tell myself that a million times, maybe I'll believe my racing heart isn't because of the smile Parker points too often in my direction.
It's not that I hate Parker. He's mostly clueless—he can barely outsmart a sitting hen, and doesn't know the wrong end of a cow from her nose. I only want to keep my distance so I don't let Parker hurt me.
Not again.
Yeah, we were friends when we were younger, but the real insult? Parker doesn't even remember me.
It's fine. I'm too busy to care. I've got weeds to pull and goats to milk, plus a new stray cat to care for, so I'll keep my head down and do what I do best. Work.
Of course, Parker keeps insisting he offer an extra set of hands. Allowing it means more checks on my to-do list, and has nothing to do with getting a front-row seat to him shirtless.
Okay, it's teensy, tiny perk. One with amazing abs.
Spending time with Parker skirts dangerously close to my heart, where he might see past the razor wire defences I've constructed. He's tempting, but Parker has forgotten me before. The only thing easier than letting love go is never loving at all.
Maren and Parker share some sizzling kisses in the barn (gasp!), but there's no rolling in the hay. This romantic comedy is sweet, and the chemistry is explosive, but reader blushing is kept to a minimum.
Rachael Eliker was born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska, where she attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, studying Animal Science with an option in Biology. She currently lives on an acreage in Indiana, with her husband and children where she enjoys challenging home improvement projects, keeping up with a handful of livestock, running on lonely stretches of country road, and writing.
I love a good romantic comedy. And this one by Rachael Eliker was so great! I loved her characters, the country feel and so much more!
Parker Bingham, movie star, is hiding out on a farm in the little town of Button Blossom, Indiana. His very first meeting with his temporary next door neighbor is explosive. I definitely laughed out loud at their meeting. I really enjoyed watching him go from the guy who seemed way too cocky to someone willing to take responsibility for their mistakes and change.
Maren knew who Parker was from the very beginning. Parker was once her best friend. But he doesn’t recognize her. And she tries to keep it that way by not even telling him her name. I loved the part where he was finally able to figure out just who she really was. But these two had to go through a lot of twists and turns to get to where they finally belonged. And I loved that!
There is a whole cast of great side characters in this one. I LOVED Granny! What a sassy, fun lady. And Remi. I can’t wait for her story.
This book made me laugh out loud so many times! I can’t wait to read more books by this author.
I was sent an e-copy of Lassoed into Love as a gift from the author. All opinions are my own.
A few pages into this sweet read I realized I had read this before—as a novella in the Love, Laughter & Happily Ever After Collection last year. Boy, am I glad that Rachael revisited and revamped this story because it is absolutely delightful! This is a fun combo of long-lost childhood best friends, a dash of enemies to lovers, & falling for your neighbor all set in a small, farming town. Oh, and Parker happens to be a famous actor and Maren has a hilarious, meddling Grandma. It works, trust me. 😉
Things I Loved: -Cow pie meet cute 😂 -Granny -Slo Jo 🐱 -Licorice, the devil’s mistress 🐓 -Secret agent neighbor, M -Wing-granny -Delicate like a bomb -Saw & did -“I’m not running a lip brothel.” -“It’s not wrong to expect the best of someone, including yourself, but once in a while, we’re all going to need some grace. Otherwise, everyone would be standing in their own corner, secluded from the rest of the world so nobody got hurt.” -& a romcom movie worthy HEA ♥️
Like I said, I am so excited that this story was revamped and lengthened and now I am very much looking forward to Remi’s story too! Don’t miss out on this sweet read! 😍
This was such a fun book to read! I loved the farm setting, and this book made me laugh and swoon many times!
What happens when a movie star who knows nothing about farms ends up farm sitting for a few months when he needs to get away? Hilarious scenarios and great personal growth happen! And what happens when that movie star’s best friend from his childhood lives nearby? Banter and romance enter the story! I loved seeing Parker and Maren get to know each other as adults; their romance is so well written and I enjoyed every moment of reading this fun book!
Also, Granny deserves her own special mention. I adored Granny with her wit and spunk! I love when books have wonderful grandparents in them, and Granny is one of my new favorites.
There’s a chapter at the end of the book that hints at the characters and tropes for the next book in the series, and I can’t wait for it to come out! It’s going to be great!
“I don’t think I can pinpoint the exact moment that I realized I loved you, but I can say without a doubt that I do”💕
This was a very cute story. The characters were honest and real with all their quirks and flaws. They suited each other with Maren’s work-hard attitude and Parker’s golden retriever energy🐕🫶🏻 I really loved all Parker’s small gestures to make her life just a little bit easier. And then there’s Maren’s granny. She was honestly my favorite character. I love her sassy comments and how she does exactly what she wants to do. She was a force to be reckoned with. And of course there’s also Slo Jo the sneaky kitten and Licorice the spawn of Satan. They were all special and made this book ten times better.
Overall I think this book was really sweet, and I’m definitely going to read the other books in the series. So if you like fluffy, character driven, sweet and quirky, small town story’s this one is for you☀️
Lasssoed Into Love By Rachael Eliker is a new romantic comedy which is indeed both romantic and a comedy. It is mostly not laugh-out-loud but extremely amusing, including things like landing in a cow pie and Maren getting caught in the backyard, nude. Grandma is the epitome of the amusing elder who always has something to say, often insightful, but always funny. It is a friends to lovers trope but the friendship had ended over 10 years earlier when Maren and her family had moved to the Button Blossom to help her elderly grandmother. By this time her sister and her parents had all fled, leaving Maren, Grandma, and the farm. Parker had grown up nicely becoming a movie sensation and the focus of many women’s dreams. He’d had kind of a rough spring and his friend, Clint, had convinced him to come to Button Blossom to babysit his parents’ farm while they took a world tour. What had he been thinking? That changed when he recognized Maren the instant she came to the door. It was full steam ahead from that moment.
Maren is the girl next door; she doesn’t recognize how beautiful she is because she doesn’t look like a model, her idea of beautiful. But, she is beautiful, as well as resourceful, intelligent, realistic, and hard-working. That was all Parker could see and she had always been his best friend, but now she had the potential to be so much more. He needed to take his time. He knew that. He was a star but he could read people, at least he could read Maren. This are two entertaining characters, well-written and interesting. He had an advantage: he had Grandma on his side. This was such a cute story. There was nothing really surprising about it, but the presentation made it valuable. It is what Eliker does best: rom-com!
I was invited to read a free e-ARC of Lassoed Into Love by the author. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #rachaeleliker #lassoedintolove
– a shorter version of this story was in the limited edition Love, Laughter, and Happily Ever After romantic comedy collection
– this is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone
– this is told from Parker & Maren’s points of view
– there is a scene with a character being accidentally naked. No one is able to see the accidental nakedness
Review:
Oh my goodness! Parker and Maren are such an awesome couple! 😍 I loved reading the steps it took to get to their happily ever after. And Maren’s Granny was a riot! 😂 I was never really sure what she’d say or do, especially if she was caught snooping. Maren and Granny’s interactions were very interesting with all the sass flying and how much they cared for one another. I even enjoyed the brief scenes with Parker’s ex as she surprised me by not being like most exes I’ve read.
Parker needed to get out of the public eye for a bit when one disaster after another crash landed in his life. So he agreed to help a friend by taking care of their friend’s parents’ farm. The only problem? He has no idea how to do normal things on a farm, like gathering eggs from cranky hens. And his cute neighbor, though willing to help, is keeping things like her name and smile far away from him despite only having just met him. Maybe if he helps her with chores on her farm she’ll be willing to let him in…
Maren knows exactly who Parker is when she sees him. She knows that he is a beloved and hot actor, but first she knows him as her childhood best friend. The same friend who hurt her and doesn’t remember who she is. That’s ok though, she can just keep working and do her best to ignore Parker and everything should be fine. That is until Parker keeps showing up asking what he can do to help and Maren can’t seem to turn away the help he’s offering…
I found this small town, friends to love, second chance, small town, slow burn romance a great read. I had plently of moments where I laughed. I think the author writes the dynamics and layers of relationships well. Though having never lived the rural life myself I felt that aspect of the story authentic. This author does and I think she displayed the love of the life and land fabulous. I think I got some real life farm experiences in with this as well as a good love story. The story was thoughtful. A favorite line "I tell you, nothing ever made me feel more special than when my husband saw and did. It showed he was paying attention to me, even in the mindane day-to-day tasks." Granny was such a character and I loved her. I liked all the characters. I'm happy this will be a series. I hope Parker gets a story too. Overall it was a sweet romance but not syrupy sweet or cutesy. Endearing and service and thinking of the other. It was fun watching them fall in love. A clean read with some kisses.
This book was hilarious! It had humorous and serious moments. They used to be childhood best friends, but Parker doesn't remember her when they meet again.
“I’m Parker Bingham, that makes you…” “Someone who’d never be asked to join the circus.”🤣
Maren is thought of as nails but sweet as honey with big dreams, and Parker is a Movie Star with a heart of gold. After an embarrassing moment(funny story). Parker consents to hide from the media by staying at a small-town farm, which also happens to be adjacent to Maren's property.
Funny and gratifying, clever, enjoyable back-and-forth teasing...There are numerous romantic scenes featuring Parker and Maren together. A pleasure to read!! I highly recommend it.
💩Cow Poop 👵 feisty grandmother. 😘 sweet kisses 🐔Licorice, the devil’s mistress 👄Kissing Booth “I’m not running a lip brothel.” 💗 clean-sweet Romance, Kissing Only.
"I want to be a full partner with you, in every sense of the word, and if I ever make you feel like anything less, don't be afraid to tell me I'm being an idiot."
This book was definitely something else. I loved their first meeting 😂. And the second🐔.
I loved the banter & the story's growth. Their chemistry was really good! I just love the communication between these two, even in embarrassing situations👌🏻 & how he approached talking to her about what happened.
I also loved how Parker wanted to help her in the farm. Not because he thought she couldn't do it, but he sincerely wanted to learn & help her take off some load.
I love their first kiss, and the second one 🔥. The slow burn was killing me!
W/ the plot hit, Maren was so stubborn! I wanted to smack some sense into her... but I understood where her pain and insecurity were coming from. I loved how Granny took the swing for the team. What she said was perfect.
Granny was such funny meddling woman. Her & Slo Jo were the absolute best😂.
I loved how Parker owned up to his mistakes. He was the sweetest. Maren's back to reality was also lovely to see. These two were so cute together 💕.
I loved the final chapters & the epilogue! This book took some turns! I'm excited for book 2!
Living Her Lost Dreams - Maren is feisty, always on the go, independent, really family oriented and sure knows how to hold a grudge. Parker is a gorgeous, flirty superstar, with a heart of gold and the gift of the gab. They used to be childhood best friend’s, but lost touch. Unfortunately, Parker’s failure to remember Maren when they meet years later, sets them on a bumpy road towards the life they were destined to live.
This was an absolutely enjoyable read and the parts I enjoyed the most were the conversations with Marin’s grandma. I am really honoured to read books written Rachael Eliker and I can't wait to read more from her.
I received an advanced copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
"Like all the rest of your jokes. Outrageous, over-the-top, and usually involving an animal."
I'm not much of a cat person, but I would love Sloppy Joe. There is just something adorable about a little four-legged sidekick in a great story, and this one had more than one. Parker is a delightful package. He is sensitive, witty, strong, passionate, and humble enough to admit when he is wrong. "M" seriously annoyed me several times. She can be quite exasperating when she's mopping on all the times she's been wronged. Fortunately, the engaging literary genius of Rachael Eliker saves the day. I appreciated that Parker wanted to deepen the relationship before deepening the physical side of things. This book is definitely worthy of a repeat read!
Grumpy Maren was strong, proud of her work and not susceptible to damsel-in-distress syndrome 😂 I loved Parker's devotion to her. He didn't know much, if at all, about farm work, but he was willing to learn and do everything to make her happy.
Definitely didn't mind her granny leading them into the Valley of Attraction, through the Waters of Flirtation, among the Meadow of Budding Love, and up to the Cliff of Insanity, where she’d push them off 😂😂 so good! She's one of my favourite meddling grandmas henceforth 😂
A round of applause for Slo Jo, the scheming cat responsible for among others, the towel scene 😂 iykyk 🤭 honourable mentions include Licorice the hen 🐓 otherwise known by Parker as the spawn of Satan 😂 and Becky the goat 🐐
Super fun rom/com. I can never get too much banter, fun and awkward situations and this book has them in spades. She was his best friend as children but she had to move away and let’s just say the several times they met up later he didn’t react well, in fact he didn’t recognize her. She was soooo tired of everyone in her life choosing to leave that she shot the first volley when she recognized him and he didn’t have a clue who she was. His ego was such and so egocentric that he was due for a big letdown when she wasn’t falling all over him and even despised him. Then his ineptitude around the farm led to many silly moments. Slo Jo the kitten helps move things along. Looking forward to the rest of the series. Clean.
She got moved to Granny’s farm as a kid, leaving her fave friend behind. He grew up to be a famous actor whose just had some bad time and escapes to same farm town, not knowing his childhood friend is there. Apparently farms can be ‘across the street’ from each other. Due to lack of clear communications they keep hurting each other’s feelings (a romance novel classic trope). It is a clean and enjoyable romance … when I wasn’t wanting to slap them around the head for stupid classically stupid behavior.
I’m trying to expand from fantasy into romcoms and different romance books, unsure if this was the best one to start with. The plot was driven by the miscommunication trope and while I don’t mind those sometimes, it was not great. The mention of Camp Hottie in one chapter was one too many as well as the charismatic Granny character. She was fine, but sometimes it was too much and played into that “small town” personality stereotype. Overall, it could have been better, but I guess it could have been worse.

Thank God for the granny otherwise I would have been worried about how we might be beating around the bush for the story to proceed anywhere forward. There was just something missing from the story but I really liked the efforts that the MMC put (and Granny XD). I think the timelines were a bit confusing and I would love to have seen a better timeline and maybe an alternating timeline to connect with the characters a bit more, to understand their past. And I wish the Camp Hottie photo was brought into conversation somewhere towards the end.
This story was very cute and was fun to see how city & country can go together so very well. Those that believe life as a farm child or person is a cake walk. Have never lived. As well as thinking that loving a farmers daughter is a breeze, have not tried to see what depth real love is like. Your book tells many truth and causes the heart to beat stronger as there is also truth to sadness. Thankyou fro your story.
When an A-List star agrees to look after his mate's parents' property for a few months, he has no idea that his neighbour is his childhood best friend. However, after being snubbed by him at a camp years before, the neighbour has no intention of letting him know her. This soon proves to be impossible and gradually they regain the friendship they once knew.
Lassoed Into Love is a sweet, heartwarming, second chance romance. I love Parker, Maren and Maren's feisty grandmother. This well written book puts farm clueless, Hollywood actor Parker into some hilarious situations. It is fun to watch Maren rebuff Parker's flirting. This very satisfying comedy kept me well entertained as I read straight through the book!
It took me longer than I expected to read this story but I really enjoyed it. This is a story with characters that you can't help but laugh with and about them. The author wrote them so they seemed like a friend that you would have in the neighborhood. The plot was simple very good.
Cute sweet romance! I didn’t quite relate to the reason Maren was so mad at Parker after the Camp. If they were friends she should have said something and her hurt after seemed too much. But that’s just me. And she seemed irrational when Parker posted a picture of them and the fallout. But I really loved the story.

I love farms and small towns since that's where I grew up. Maren and her Granny made me laugh out loud with their bantering. Add in Parker's celebrity/non-farming antics and a delightful romantic comedy was born. This is a cute, heartwarming read, and I look forward to the rest of the series.
I think if I needed to describe this story in one word it would be Perky. It could definitely be a Hallmark movie. I spent a good deal of time trying to pick which actors would play their parts in said movie
This book had me laughing out loud. I know about fierce chickens and tricky goats, and if you’re not their target, it can be very amusing. Maren and Parker were fun but I fell in love with Granny. I can imagine her and her manipulations. Loved this book.
Many hilarious moments, loved a good giggle. Granny's A hoot, hope I'm somewhat like her when I grow older. This was a nice romance, but how many chances do you give a guy.
This was a fun and cute story but it got a bit rambling in places. The story line was fun and some of the dialogue was entertaining but it just didn’t come together enough.
I enjoyed the interaction between Maren and Parker plus how Granny and Slo Jo were intertwined throughout the story. Plus Maren’s dream was great! I hope that they live happily ever after, working and building the farm!
Enjoyed the opening story of this series. The characters are likeable and the storyline keeps a reader interested. There is a nice combo of humor and romance in this story especially with Granny around.
