The world isn't out to get Katie Miller, but it sure feels like it.

With the snowstorm bearing down on Emerald Ridge, Katie wants to close up the bar and head home. But a few unruly guests keep her slinging drinks and shooting anxious glances at the front door well into the night.

Then in walks Dominic Cross, a mountain of a man who had a chance with Katie a decade ago and then ruined it. To make things up to her, he says he'll take everyone home so they don't have to drive in the storm. But on his way back, he runs his truck into a ditch and gives himself a concussion. The only place he can think to go is two blocks down the road to Katie's bar.

It never occurred to Katie that she might still have feelings for Dominic after all these years, but when you're stuck with someone for a week sleeping on the floor of a bar, heated truths start slipping out. She might come with a lot of baggage, but the man she's leaning on has broad shoulders and can carry anything.

Things might be cold outside, but in here, they’re just starting to heat up.

Mother Nature’s last hurrah is a snowstorm that knocks out the power to half the mountain. Everything in Emerald Ridge has grounded to a halt. Everybody is stuck—with their neighbor, their enemy, their secret crush…

This spring, we’re snowed in at Emerald Ridge. Good thing there are plenty of hot kisses to keep us warm on these cold days.

If you enjoy sweet characters, steamy scenes, second chances, and a good ending, then you should read this book. Dominic and Katie dated when they were younger but Dom messed things up. She went on to get married and have twins. Now she’s single and he knows what he lost. When they get snowed in together at her bar, it’s the perfect opportunity to clear the air of the past and see if there can be a future. I liked these characters. They were great together! I enjoyed the realness of Katie and her struggle to feel loved after the failure of her marriage. I loved Dom as the gentle mountain giant who wants a second chance with the woman he let get away.

Although Katie and Dom dated when they were younger, Dom made some foolish choices and they went their separate ways. A few years later, Katie married, had twins, built a bar & a business, and her husband left her without warning. She's been juggling everything since. During a huge snowstorm, Dom helps folks get home from the bar safely, but has an accident that strands him and Katie in the bar for several days. Dom has always regretted his stupid decisions and now wants to make amends, but is Katie willing? The book is short, fast paced, steamy, and really pretty good. The characters are well written, sizzling, and a page turner. Solid Read.

This is book number 1 of the Snowed in Emerald Ridge series and focuses on Dominic and Katie. Dominic and Katie dated 10 years prior but things ended because Dominic said he was sick and couldn’t make their plans but instead he was sleeping with someone else when she came over to his house. Now ten years later, a snowstorm brings them together again. They get the opportunity to get all the hurt and regret from the past out in the air and begin a relationship again. While this was a good story overall, I struggled a bit with the fact that he cheated on her in the past.

This short story gives Dominic a second chance with the one he hurt and lost years before. The situation they find themselves in allows them to explore pain, anger regrets, hopes, dreams, feelings and chemistry. For me the story ended too soon, how was Katie's situation resolved? What did her family think? I would have liked to have had these answers and to have seen them together after the snow and seen how they moved on and how their relationship developed.

The author has given us a wonderful story that pulls us into the lives of Katie and Dominic and does not let go. They had a relationship, years ago, and after breaking up they went their separate ways. Things do not always work out as planned but being snowbound together may be a second chance for them.

Katie and Dominic's second-chance romance was quick, steamy and cute wrapped up with a bow. I did find myself wishing this was a larger book. I wanted to know where Katie's ex went, how her and Dom faired afterwards, how her kids liked him. Overall a good read.

Dominic and Katie were in a committed relationship ten years ago until it fell apart. Now he comes back into her life and wants to make amends. Mother nature is brewing up a snowstorm that will keep people on the inside and when Dominic agrees to help customers get to their places safely, he finds himself injured with a concussion. To get safely on the inside and out of the elements Katie's bar is the closest. As they find themselves trapped together, feelings begin to crash back in. Has mother nature given them the perfect opportunity to rehash their feelings, and will this time around lead them to a happily ever after?

This was really short, and not much substance. The couple had history that took place off page, and there were huge storylines (pertaining to the mains) that we were told about kind of in passing, rather than having them be part of the story. I think that I liked the characters, but the story was lacking for me. It needed to be longer, and include those important bits.

Fate has it's Way

Dominic and Katie's HEA was a long time in the making. I loved seeing them have their little bubble together and be able to focus on them and nothing else.

So cute!

My rating for this one is a 3.5. This is a well written very short story with good characters. I really would have liked to have seen more of their story. If you need a story for a short quick read this is a good one, it is worth your time. I encourage everyone to get this one.

Dominic and Katie are the one who got away for each other. Getting snowed in alone during a blizzard gives them the chance to rekindle their flame.
