There is a killer on the loose in Peachwood, and that person is targeting witches. Worse, there's no rhyme or reason to the murders. Clementine and Rufus are at a loss as to how to find the killer.
They need help, and a lot of it. So the entire witch and wizard community of Peachwood bands together to help. Only, those folks tend to whine a lot and they're not sure if Rufus can be trusted. With time running out, and more attacks occurring, Clem and Rufus are forced to rely on witches who can't be trusted for help.
Will they solve the mystery? Or will Clem and Rufus be the next victims?
Hey, I’m Amy, I write books for folks who crave laugh-out-loud paranormal mysteries. I help bring humor into readers’ lives. I’ve got a Pharm D in pharmacy, a BA in Creative Writing and a Masters in Life. And when I’m not writing or chasing around two small children (one of which is four going on thirteen), I can be found antique shopping for a great deal, getting my roots touched up (because that’s an every four week job) and figuring out when I can get back to Disney World. If you’re dying to know more about my wacky life, here are three things you don’t know about me. —In college I spent a semester at Marvel Comics working in the X-Men office. —I worked at Carnegie Hall. —I grew up in a barbecue restaurant—literally. My parents owned one. If you want to reach out to me—and I love to hear from readers—you can email me at amyboylesauthor@gmail.com. Happy reading!
The first half if the book was a little slow, and I had the bad guy figured out the minute he got hurt. The best part of the book was the group of "old" witches. They were hilarious. And Lady, the dachshund, was pretty funny, too.
I’ll keep this short since I’m actually two books ahead of this one right now (White Magic and Wardrobes, Book 12). Clementine, the main character, and her bf Rufus Mayes are attempting to teach some old witches old tricks - magic tricks, that is, but most of the elderly witches are out of practice and also don’t exactly trust Rufus because he was once a dark magic kind of wizard.
During one of the training sessions, Clem is caged and begins to have a panic attack which brings out her inner fire which in turn makes the witches distrust Rufus even more. Where did the fire come from? What kind of evil spell is it?! “We’re outta here!” Most of the class leaves except Malene, Norma, and Urleen and a few others, including a very nice new-to-town magical person. He’s all for being on Rufus and Clem’s side of things. However, he has a secret and may not be on the good side after all.
As I’ve said before and I’ll say again, there are many different things going on in each book but not so much that the reader can’t keep up or have to take notes about each person. There is one thing that bothers me about Clem though and that is her mind. She has so many swirly thoughts and make my head spin with “What if?”s. Calm down, girl! She makes me anxious!
Clem finds a new trick in this read and she’s definitely learning more about her own magic. She even faces an evil that tries to pull her to its side and she uses all of her goodness within to fight against being with it forever and having power for eternity. In order to get to this particular evil, she must find an old witch’s Spell book in a cave. The place the book is hidden is actually pretty rad and something I’ve never seen in a book before. Here’s a fact about seahorses - the male is the one that is pregnant and not the female. Seriously, look it up!
Clementine and Rufus are hunting bad wizards and new spells. the girls are going to drive you crazy
Clem and Rufus call on the Grandmother and her crew. It is enough to drive you crazy at what they can get up too. Their town is under attack by dark wizards and all help is needed. Before its through they try to get everyone involved. Gory and fun and marvelous. Love these tales.
Again I have read one of Amy’s books which brings so much humour and you can so easily live the story. The characters have grown so much from 1st in series to book 10. It is so easy to follow like all of Amy’s series I highly recommend this book and all the rest of her books
I'm sorry I usually like this series but this book just did nothing for me. It felt like a bunch of pieces cobbled together. Is there a writers group doing this book?? I can't stand the dog either. What happened to her magic hammer and renovation jobs? And the old witch fart plotline... Nope.
A threat has come to town and people are dying. The troubles of the world have reached Clem's small town and the magical community must band together in a way they haven't before. Can Clem harness her Magic to protect those she loves?
Full of snarky witches, steamy kisses, and one talking dog, this book is worth thenread
This is a wonderful book to read on Christmas… OK so there’s murder in it but it’s very lighthearted and interesting. OK minus the excessive flatulence but that can’t be helped. Actually, I found that part pretty darn funny. The more I read of this series, the more I like it, and the more I’m curious about starting a new one by this author. I very likely will.
Not enjoying the series as much as before. The inner voice of the MC is becoming more and more irritating as is conversation with the dog. What happened to the renovation business? Oh, and I figured out the bad guy as soon as he appeared…. I had to force myself not to skip to the end to check!
There are only a few more left in the series so I'll probably finish it.
It was a good read with a few laughs. The series is taking a more serious, darker turn with the introduction of witch hunters. it will be interesting to see what happens in future books. I enjoyed this a lot.
Unlike her other books this one felt rushed and had a lot of grammar errors. Also there was no conclusion to this story. The other books in the series could be stand alone stories. No this one , when I finish the next I'm done.
Clem, Rufus, Marlene and Lady all make me smile or laugh as I read this book. I figured out who the bad guy was fairly early on but did not know why he was. Awesome story and looks like the next book is going to be action packed!
I'm not sure why, but this particular story took me forever to get through. It's not that I didn't enjoy it, It seemed to be confusing somehow. Now that I've finished it, I can barely remember the story.
Home Town Magic (Magical Renovation Mysteries book 10
This was another winner. I love these characters and Amy's has a great imagination. I highly recomend all her books and different series. If you love paranormal mysteries this Author is for you. Diana Romano
Author, Amy Boyles, has written another wonderfully entertaining paranormal cosy mystery.
Clem, Rufus, Lady and co have to face off against yet another adversary, this one, very deadly. With the usual humour, romance and friendly mishaps, this was a fun read.
This is a well written and has well developed characters. The story is catching and with the strong characters makes for a very enjoyable read. Great Reading Everyone!
