This diary was never meant to be read. With more than 65 countries and almost 5 years of experience as a cabin crew, the author decided to initiate you into the seemingly glamorous life of a stewardess for one of the most renowned airlines. But is really all that glitters gold?
This book is not just a collection of funny stories related to flying and the life of a Dubai flight attendant. What I want to share with you has never been written before. I'm going to tell you what flight attendants do when passengers aren't looking; what we're not allowed to talk about on board; and what it’s like to wake up in a different bed each time.
I’ll tell you about sexual harassment and obedience; about extreme situations where lives are at stake; and what it's like to work in an atmosphere of fear for one of the biggest airlines in the world.
I’ll give you tips on how to succeed in an interview. You’ll learn what’s fun and what’s a nightmare about training to be a Dubai flight attendant; what it's like working with different nationalities, and who the worst passengers are. I’ll include the good – like travelling to the best destinations; the bad – such as the potential mental issues; and the ugly – the moments when I wanted to give up, and what our job looked like during the coronavirus pandemic.
Marika Mikusova is a talented observer and writer. She exposes the wild but rigid rule plagued world of the flight attendant world. Ms. Mikusova's wry humor and solid details really kept me enthralled. I really sympathized with her hard schedule. She brought the passangers and, fellow Attendants to life. I couldn't put this fast paced book down. I hope she does write her follow-up book. Great read .
I enjoyed the stories of life as a flight attendant but wasn’t so keen on the way the author stereotyped every nationality. Sometimes it bordered on offensive, such as saying that some nationalities are dirty or loud. Other than that it is worth a read.
I didn't know what to expect, but I really enjoyed this book! I've never been on a plane and when I do, I plan on being super nice to all of the flight attendants! We all should actually!!
A rather run-on story of a young woman working the skies out of Dubai. Predictable, mundane, and somewhat downbeat tales of passengers and crew. I felt it earned two stars for at least bringing to our attention the tiring, somewhat downbeat job of those seemingly always cheerful flight attendants.
Through this book I got to know how hectic flight attendants have it. They're typically sleep deprived due to long hours and the hectic work, dealing with people all day. The pros are of course that they get to visit so many countries and enjoy so many flights.
An insight into the world of air hostesses. Makes us appreciate their work more. Slightly racist (pro European), but that may be the way she was brought up.
An absolute delight to read the behind the scenes scenario as seen from the eyes of a flight attendant. I've heard many a time about flights to certain destinations that many flight attendants try to avoid but only now I came to know how much filth and rude behaviour is faced by these professionals who are responsible for our lives should there be an emergency.
