A critically-acclaimed, true story of female friendship, adventure, heartbreak and finding purpose beyond motherhood.

Except instead of chasing bad guys down an alley, we are trying to make this stupid tight connection. With each stride, my purse flaps violently up and down - barely missing my face on each upswing. I catch it mid-air and wrangle it towards me so I can check for the sixth time to see if my boarding pass for the next flight is still there.
“I see D37!” says Buffy. “We’re almost there.” “Thank Christ!” says Tracie. “What a fucking huge terminal.” The three of us are so comfortable with each other that all niceties fly out the window in stressful situations. Our friendship is like the fat pants you change into at the end of a long day. We arrive at the gate, breathless, stray hairs cemented to our wet foreheads. The agent scans our passports and points to the door behind her. We rush through it and continue until we see a sign for Freeport, Bahamas.
From my window seat, I crane my neck to take frequent looks at the water. When we jet away from Florida it is a deep navy. The closer we get to the Bahamas, the lighter it gets, until coral heads and other large objects - fish perhaps? - are actually visible beneath the surface.
A sudden wave of nausea courses through my gut. And just like that, it dawns on me... I AM SCARED SHITLESS.
Journey with Laura as she grapples with grief over her empty nest, faces down her demons and finally re-emerges stronger and more fully herself. Her words may just empower you to confront your own fears and rediscover your authentic self.

Loved this book. I couldn’t put it down. Laura has a very fluid and beautiful way of writing. I felt as if I knew each of her friends and I was able visualize the beauty of the Bahamas and her incredible dives through her descriptive words. “Resurfacing” has it all from happiness to intrigue to deep sorrow. I highly recommend this book.
By the end of this book, you feel so connected to the lives of everyone involved; you feel you know them and they are your friends and part of your family. Written with honesty, transparency and humor. Thoroughly enjoyed reading this and can not wait to read more from the author.
I loved Laura's story and adventure with her friends Buffy and Trace. It had me on the first page, and I couldn't stop reading. I loved how everything came together as nicely as if I were there. Experiencing everything the author wrote is so straightforward to imaginable. This was a great book, and I highly recommend anyone who enjoys a great story read it.
