Dance with Me #2

Encore Performance

Rate this book
Grey Rickman, a journalist for The New York Times, is offered the opportunity of a lifetime and a huge boost to her career—ghostwriting a memoir for one of the world’s most beloved actors. She is deeply in love with her girlfriend, dancer Christian Scott, and her world couldn’t be better.
Christian, though proud of Grey and all that she’s accomplished, is facing her own career dilemma. All she’s ever wanted to do is perform and create, her body her kinetic canvas. But, in one of the few industries where youth matters above all else, her time is coming to make decisions that no woman in her mid-thirties should have to make: is it time to retire?
As the career of one begins to explode into the stratosphere and the other’s implodes after a career-ending injury that makes any retirement discussion irrelevant, Grey and Christian begin to drift apart. Changing priorities and newly built walls lead to fears and accusations, further tearing at the fabric of the love they’ve worked years to create.
Will cooler heads prevail to warm up the hearts of the deeply passionate couple in time to create a new dream for their second act?

Continuing their romance, Gray and Christian have spent the last four years as life partners. The dancer's career has flourished, she is now world famous. The journalist continues on at the newspaper but longs to devote more time to her writing and her yearning to perhaps publish her own work grows stronger. Life is not always full of bliss and events occur bringing unforeseen changes. One career ignites while the other dims. The intense love between the two women is wracked with attacks of doubt, jealousy, fear and outside interference. A lack of communication adds to the strained relationship. Will Gray and Christian find their way back to each other?
My emotions rose and fell with the storyline. But the author cleverly and slowly brought me closure and a happy ending.
I easily recommend this 5 star read.

I rec'd a copy through Sapphire Books Publishing. My review is voluntary and unbiased.

This book is the sequel to Curtain Call and continues the story of Gray and Christian. I really love their story, and its nice to read about their life together as a couple, dealing with the ups and downs of life that are just part of life.

I received an ARC of this book in return for leaving an honest review.

This book is a follow up of Curtain Call, & a continuation of the main characters, Gray & Christian's lives. One with a dark, depressing, background for one of these main characters that sometimes govern her thoughts and feelings.

Their lives are a challenge sometimes and other times a great fit! It was great to read a book with the challenging twists and turns that are present in "real life" relationships. Life is sometimes not a "bed of roses" for them and interesting to see how they work through the problems.

From anger to fear to sadness to happiness are the emotions in this book as you read the story. This author did a terrific job of portraying the events of everyday life in a relationship complete with feelings of low self-esteem.

As I reached the end of this book and a start of something new for this couple, I couldn’t help but wonder and hope there will be a Book 3 in this series!

I loved Curtain Call, the meeting of the seventeen year oldcrushing the dancer. Now the followup Encore Performance is perfectly titled. We follow Gray and Christian through their successful careers of writer and dancer. At the ripe old age of 35, retirement is forced upon her. This part is so well written. The angst of jealousy , not feeling wanted, dependant on her body for success. I appreciated the clawing back in the relationship. A powerful read from a great storyteller

Another winner by Pritekel. I love her series as one book is never enough to tell the stories of her characters. Gray and Christian’s story is full of life’s joys, of life’s disappointments, full of hope and a fairy tale love that few of us have ever known. A writer has to make you want to turn the pages, make you think of the story when you’re not reading, want the book to simply never end. This book is all that. Wow.
