FIVE TRILLION STARS OMG
This. BOOK.
I am going to be doing an in-depth book review of this on my Youtube channel, but first let me just tell how you guys how I'm feeling right now.
Okay first for those of you who might be confused, I did not read the Wattpad version of this, I was sent an ARC of the book. From what I can tell, the book is significantly different (much longer, different content, plot structure, much more complex, etc.) from the Wattpad version.
BUT ANYWAY-
THANK GOODNESS I RECEIVED THIS BOOK. I honestly was not expecting how much I was going to love this. In fact, I was blown away by how much I fell in love with this book! This is the kind of story that you simply CANNOT put down. And I mean literally you CAN'T. Like, I didn't even get up to go eat food.... and I love food... so that's reaaallyy saying something, alright?
I devoured this in a matter of hours and all I can think about now is how much I am dying to read the sequel. Hadley and Archer have stolen my heart and I kinda just want to be best friends with both of them.
I am itching to type more right now, but I think I am going to save my thoughts for my actual book review, which I plan on filming soon :) so stayed tuned for that!

· I don't know how to express my love for this book
· it just resonates with my soul
· it's not only a kind of cozy exciting book but it just speaks to me in a myriad of ways
· i connect with Hadley so hard ... from the very beginning when she cries over the suicide of this school mate of hers SHE COULD HAVE BEEN ME
· but ok i would never have succeeded in this mission lol
· but yet i can see myself thinking and feeling every. single. thing. she did in every single situation
· as for Archer he is beautifully done
·he's really a sweet person beneath his rough edges and sarcastic tongue
· i love it that he was never an easy person to love
· it just never was easy
· i just love his stubborness and that heart of gold underneath it
· i fell in love with Archer's family head over heels
· they were masterfully done
· vivid and real and so FULL OF HEART
· the setting -- new york -- was well fleshed out without too many details
· for anyone writing about a place they have never been to i recommend seeing how it was done in here
· the premise is mind blowing unique
· second chances
· time travel story
· beautiful twist to the whole idea
· i loved every. single. second. of this engaging plot
· it's the second time i've met a character named Death and i'm quite fond of him *coughcough*
· also sardonic Havoc *grimance*
· marvelously creepy mixed with reality
· ok and can i just say that while some may think it unrealistic for Hadley to agree to travel back in time to save a boy she doesn't know MOST YA HEROINES WOULD BE TOO SELFISH TO CARE AT ALL
· this is why i love Hadley
· cos she took the chance
· she made herself look like a fool
· she went through so much trouble
· it was never easy to care for Archer
· i love how in the end the romance was NOT based soley on looks or emotion or infatuation but it grew out of action and genuine concern and caring that was so hard to perservere in
·there are many obstacles that make you concerned
· also humor that makes you shake with laughter
· characters and relationships that bring a thousand smiles to your face
· high stakes
· fabulous cover and title
· theme

This was actually really good. I found the story very captivating and thought-provoking. It teaches the reader that not everything is as it appears. Someone who appears to be in good health could be feeling extremely lonely. Taking the chance to just simply talk and listen to someone can truly change their world. This book really strikes a note for society today. Very well written.

~ THIS BOOK WREAKED "HAVOC" ON MY EMOTIONS ~
(For all who've read this, you'll get that reference)
This is a Wattpad Award Winner so if you're looking for a bittersweet read, then this is the one. But be prepared to read it in one sitting. Aside from a few grammatical errors, I couldn't flaw the writing or the structure. Especially with Wattpad books, it's always easy to pick out inconsistencies but Alison Gervais does a fantastic job of setting up this world and fleshing it out.
Waking up about 3am in the morning, I couldn't go back to sleep. Which trust me, never happens. I love my sleep.
Going on my phone, I went on Wattpad. As sad as this was, I only wanted to read for a few minutes in hopes of feeling tired and dozing back off to sleep. It was 3am after all; I needed to rest. Yet sleep never came because of how much this book hooked me, and now it's 8am and I'm unsure on how to articulate my thoughts. I don't think anything will do this book justice.
To say this book was heartbreaking would be an understatement. I was never a fan of sad books because I would feel depressed but after reading this novel, hand me a tissue box and any Nicholas Sparks novel and be assured that'll I bawl my eyes out.
Hadley Jamison is the typical sixteen/seventeen year old. After a guy at her school Archer Morales commits suicide, despite not knowing him very well, Hadley attends his funeral. With a feeling that there might've been something she could've done, her world changes forever.
With an opportunity to go back in time and save his life, she takes it. But she only has 27 days. That's the catch.
Hadley goes back in times and befriends Archer Morales, a now alive and insanely gorgeous social outcast. He is rude, distant and sarcastic. With secrets that haunt him in his past, her quest to protect him is more complicated than she knows and it suddenly becomes 'Mission Impossible'.
ARCHER MORALES
Archer, at first, was hard to love. With snarky remarks and his distant nature, I was like Honey, you're going to need a decade to thaw out this one. 27 days isn't going to cut it. You can't possibly get through to him in 27 days.
With each encounter, Hadley slowly chips away the barrier that enacts infront of people. But you still wondered if it was going to be enough. Each encounter bringing in dark secrets, loss but also moments of laughter and raw joy. It showed both the vulnerable side of Archer but also the protagonist Hadley, dealing with her own family drama. These two are my favorite characters, where their strengths and weaknesses crafted alot of depth that felt incredibly realistic.
What I Loved About This Book
With Archer coming from a large family of 19 people, learning names was abit tricky at 3am in the morning but each character was so unique and had so much depth that I could tell the difference. The triplets, or Archer's little sisters, were always giggling and were rays of sunshine in a household with a dark past.
Thinking this was a clear cut book where she'd go back in time, fall in love with him and save him, I was in for a shocker. With an archangel called "Havoc" (doing just that) to sabotage all chances that Hadley had to save Archer, it became a battle to challenge all odds.
(Yay for that Romeo and Juliet reference in the book)
This book kept me awake at 3am which is a testament to how enjoyable it was. Definitely a must-read if you love romance and alittle fantasy :)

I picked this book up at Barnes and Nobles, sat down to read the first few chapters, and went on to read the whole thing in one sitting. I’m in awe and so blown away by this book. It’s definitely one of my new top favorites.
A list of lovely things:
• the characters were so achingly real and alive
• a coffeeshop!
• it’s always interesting when Death is a character
• it gets so INTENSE. (my friend who was at the bookstore with me said after I finished that my face “went through a wide range of emotions”)
• the author handles the tough topics very well
• beautiful writing
• awesome pacing - I was never bored.
• ugh basically just read this amazing story ❤️❤️❤️

i can't give you a zero so i'll settle for a 1.
(There's a reason wattpad books should stay in wattpad. Only the rarest of books deserve to be printed. Most of the wattpad users are there for smut and don't really give af about emotions or depth of the books. And that is why they thoroughly enjoy such bland and shallow books.)
*DEAR AUTHORS, IF YOU CHOOSE TO WRITE ABOUT TOPICS AS SENSITIVE AS SUICIDE PLEASE ATLEAST DO NOT FEED LIES OR MISGUIDE THE YOUNG GENERATION INTO BELIEVING THINGS WHICH AREN'T TRUE. CAN A PERSON FROM SEVERE PTSD AND MDD BE SAVED JUST BY A KISS IN 27 DAYS?? NO.*
The book started well, the blurb had me hooked. But it ended up being a fucked up mess and seriously I shouldn't have expected anything more.
Firstly and lastly, IT WAS HIGHLY UNREALISTIC. Hadley went back in time, chatted two words and helped their family a little AND THE ENTIRE FAMILY WAS OBSESSED WITH HER. A 16 y/o girl came into their life, threw some motivational lines here and there and cured their years of SEVERE PTSD AND MDD (MAJOR DEPRESSION DISORDER). She uttered some sweet melodies and the entire family clinged to her as if she is the last hope that can save them from this mess. They were so obsessed that every now and them some or the other would be like "Only you can save them Hadley" "Don't leave Archer, Hadley. Only you can save him." "Archer needs to be saved and only you can be her saviour Hadley, do not give up on him." Like BE FUCKING FOR REAL. And yes, this is how she saved the entirety of the mess of a family.
The whole book is fucked up. Messed up. This book SCREAMS plot holes. Like why did Death choose Archer to be saved?? I mean there are so many people who kill themselves, why choose Archer only?? And this whole scenario of bringing back from dead was so random without any foundation to support it? Like there was no explanation, nothing but just the plot being forcefully shoved down our throats. Hadley is such a bland character that it's as if her actions and emotions were only for the sake of the story rather than them being her own. Her motivations aren't fleshed upon which i noticed in the beginning when she was described to be extremely mournful over archer's death despite not even knowing him personally. Sure she can be upset but my question is *why* does she feel remorseful over his death? What compels her to attend his funeral? w
What is the driving factor to her actions besides doing them just for the sake of the story progressing!?
I do think archer has potential to be a truly interesting character but he wasn't a character that i could care about despite the whole story basically revolving around him. We do see a softer side to archer closer to the end of the book which was cute! Although i did find the pacing of their relationship to be off and lacking in chemistry???
At the starting I really thought that the author will dive in deep in the mind of a suicidal person, make us go through their feelings and help us understand what compelled them to take such an action. The author failed terribly at this.
Wasn't the main purpose of the story to explore Archer's suicidal thoughts?? Weren't we supposed to go deep into Archer's mind and stop what was troubling him?? The author said fuck that we're gonna explore a teensy cheesy grumpy x sunshine romance. The author failed terribly at diving us in the mind of a suicidal person. Why Archer wanted to expire so bad and how it took him only 27 days to figure it out; the murder had happened years ago so why was he triggered now more than ever. Especially since he had a lot of people depending on him. From how his character is described suicide seemed like the last thing on his mind. Maybe some POVs of Archer might have helped but the author was busy writing a love story.
Towards the end this book felt like another teensy romance. We were totally deviated from the actual plot of a suicidal person. It was HIGHLY unrealistic. Archer and his mother Regina were suffering from severe case of PTSD and MDD (MAJOR DEPRESSIVE DISORDER). The fact that Hadley just went back in time, blended with the family, made them feel that they were not alone (which was a weird concept since they already had each other and I seriously do not know how the inclusivity of a 16 year old effected them so much) was enough to stop them from suicide is highly stupid and unrealistic especially taking into consideration how severe their depression was.
The whole concept of Death, Havoc and Edith was utter bullshit. The author didn't really think much about them and they were present just to add a little plot twists here and there (which weren't at all necessary). I didn't like how they were represented. I didn't like the ideas and morals the book wanted to present through Death and Havoc. It made no sense.
The whole idea of going back in time and meddling with people was so messed up. You CANNOT bring someone back from dead. The idea of Death sending people back to revive their loved ones from dead was...??? Just because he suffers from trauma of his wife like hello sir you are supposed to be a god??? What the fuck is this?
What in the world was the purpose of Hadley dying in the end? Nothing. It was thrown randomly for the sake of emotional drama. She went to heaven, met Chris, chit-chatted with him and then Death offered her with the two most difficult earth shattering options- to either remain dead or go back. WHAT THE FUCK WAS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THIS BULLSHIT.
The love of Hadley and Archer was clearly one sided. Even while she was in heaven it was made clear that Archer did not imagine a future with Hadley. Hadley sold her life for Archer while Archer...smh. When Hadley came back to life he was like "um...hi" like boy what the fuck?? Hadley crossed limits, devoted her life to help him and his family but Archer always was a asshole to her. Knowing his depression, I accepted him for the way he is, but Archer outrightly treated her like a piece of shit. He would use her, then throw her away. He would shame her constantly for being rich and judge her for having no problems in life because she was provided with everything. Right before she died he asked her to leave his family alone and shamed her for not having a family herself like what the fuck is wrong with this dude? When she woke up from death he didn't even apologize for everything he did, he wasn't even relieved or excited to meet her, he was straight up like "um...hi i guess" Hadley definitely deserved better.
Their relationship consisted only Archer. There was no Hadley. Whenever they talked, Archer this Archer that. Archer you are loved, Archer you are strong for taking so much, Archer blah blah blah. Archer did not give a single fuck about Hadley or her life or her emotions. Even when she woke up from the dead, Archer was like "fuck the shit I said to you about not having the family and fuck that you are back from death, you know my mom is cool now, my grandma is cool now, I'm cool now and not depressed at all I'm so happy so yay". The only time Archer mentioned Hadley's life was when he wanted to shame her for being rich. But then again boy if you hate her rich family so much then why did you take the favour of her father?? And that too free of cost?? Ungrateful bitch.
And lastly the plot. It was a stupid mess. As previously discussed the author failed at the topic of romance, depression, suicide, and bringing someone back from suicide. But the fact that there was no consequences of anyone's actions? It's obvious that meddling with time and bringing back someone from dead should have been followed by someone's sacrifice. Throughout the book I was thinking that all this pressure and trauma is destroying Hadley, and at last it would save Archer but kill Hadley. But nothing happened. Absolutely nothing. Our miss 16 y/o teenage girl went back to time save her prince charming from killing himself by throwing some motivation lines, she died (not because of an emotional toll but because a man called havoc couldn't control his adrenaline) but she came back easily, her prince charming wasn't so thrilled about this but who cares they lived happily ever after hurayyyyy 👏👏👏

Firstly and lastly, IT WAS HIGHLY UNREALISTIC. Hadley went back in time, chatted two words and helped their family a little AND THE ENTIRE FAMILY WAS OBSESSED WITH HER. A 16 y/o girl came into their life, threw some motivational lines here and there and cured their years of SEVERE PTSD AND MDD (MAJOR DEPRESSION DISORDER). She uttered some sweet melodies and the entire family clinged to her as if she is the last hope that can save them from this mess. They were so obsessed that every now and them some or the other would be like "Only you can save them Hadley" "Don't leave Archer, Hadley. Only you can save him." "Archer needs to be saved and only you can be her saviour Hadley, do not give up on him." Like BE FUCKING FOR REAL. And yes, this is how she saved the entirety of the mess of a family.
The whole book is fucked up. Messed up. This book SCREAMS plot holes. Like why did Death choose Archer to be saved?? I mean there are so many people who kill themselves, why choose Archer only?? And this whole scenario of bringing back from dead was so random without any foundation to support it? Like there was no explanation, nothing but just the plot being forcefully shoved down our throats. Hadley is such a bland character that it's as if her actions and emotions were only for the sake of the story rather than them being her own. Her motivations aren't fleshed upon which i noticed in the beginning when she was described to be extremely mournful over archer's death despite not even knowing him personally. Sure she can be upset but my question is *why* does she feel remorseful over his death? What compels her to attend his funeral? w
What is the driving factor to her actions besides doing them just for the sake of the story progressing!?
I do think archer has potential to be a truly interesting character but he wasn't a character that i could care about despite the whole story basically revolving around him. We do see a softer side to archer closer to the end of the book which was cute! Although i did find the pacing of their relationship to be off and lacking in chemistry???
At the starting I really thought that the author will dive in deep in the mind of a suicidal person, make us go through their feelings and help us understand what compelled them to take such an action. The author failed terribly at this.
Wasn't the main purpose of the story to explore Archer's suicidal thoughts?? Weren't we supposed to go deep into Archer's mind and stop what was troubling him?? The author said fuck that we're gonna explore a teensy cheesy grumpy x sunshine romance. The author failed terribly at diving us in the mind of a suicidal person. Why Archer wanted to expire so bad and how it took him only 27 days to figure it out; the murder had happened years ago so why was he triggered now more than ever. Especially since he had a lot of people depending on him. From how his character is described suicide seemed like the last thing on his mind. Maybe some POVs of Archer might have helped but the author was busy writing a love story.
Towards the end this book felt like another teensy romance. We were totally deviated from the actual plot of a suicidal person. It was HIGHLY unrealistic. Archer and his mother Regina were suffering from severe case of PTSD and MDD (MAJOR DEPRESSIVE DISORDER). The fact that Hadley just went back in time, blended with the family, made them feel that they were not alone (which was a weird concept since they already had each other and I seriously do not know how the inclusivity of a 16 year old effected them so much) was enough to stop them from suicide is highly stupid and unrealistic especially taking into consideration how severe their depression was.
The whole concept of Death, Havoc and Edith was utter bullshit. The author didn't really think much about them and they were present just to add a little plot twists here and there (which weren't at all necessary). I didn't like how they were represented. I didn't like the ideas and morals the book wanted to present through Death and Havoc. It made no sense.
The whole idea of going back in time and meddling with people was so messed up. You CANNOT bring someone back from dead. The idea of Death sending people back to revive their loved ones from dead was...??? Just because he suffers from trauma of his wife like hello sir you are supposed to be a god??? What the fuck is this?
What in the world was the purpose of Hadley dying in the end? Nothing. It was thrown randomly for the sake of emotional drama. She went to heaven, met Chris, chit-chatted with him and then Death offered her with the two most difficult earth shattering options- to either remain dead or go back. WHAT THE FUCK WAS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THIS BULLSHIT.
The love of Hadley and Archer was clearly one sided. Even while she was in heaven it was made clear that Archer did not imagine a future with Hadley. Hadley sold her life for Archer while Archer...smh. When Hadley came back to life he was like "um...hi" like boy what the fuck?? Hadley crossed limits, devoted her life to help him and his family but Archer always was a asshole to her. Knowing his depression, I accepted him for the way he is, but Archer outrightly treated her like a piece of shit. He would use her, then throw her away. He would shame her constantly for being rich and judge her for having no problems in life because she was provided with everything. Right before she died he asked her to leave his family alone and shamed her for not having a family herself like what the fuck is wrong with this dude? When she woke up from death he didn't even apologize for everything he did, he wasn't even relieved or excited to meet her, he was straight up like "um...hi i guess" Hadley definitely deserved better.
Their relationship consisted only Archer. There was no Hadley. Whenever they talked, Archer this Archer that. Archer you are loved, Archer you are strong for taking so much, Archer blah blah blah. Archer did not give a single fuck about Hadley or her life or her emotions. Even when she woke up from the dead, Archer was like "fuck the shit I said to you about not having the family and fuck that you are back from death, you know my mom is cool now, my grandma is cool now, I'm cool now and not depressed at all I'm so happy so yay". The only time Archer mentioned Hadley's life was when he wanted to shame her for being rich. But then again boy if you hate her rich family so much then why did you take the favour of her father?? And that too free of cost?? Ungrateful bitch.
And lastly the plot. It was a stupid mess. As previously discussed the author failed at the topic of romance, depression, suicide, and bringing someone back from suicide. But the fact that there was no consequences of anyone's actions? It's obvious that meddling with time and bringing back someone from dead should have been followed by someone's sacrifice. Throughout the book I was thinking that all this pressure and trauma is destroying Hadley, and at last it would save Archer but kill Hadley. But nothing happened. Absolutely nothing. Our miss 16 y/o teenage girl went back to time save her prince charming from killing himself by throwing some motivation lines, she died (not because of an emotional toll but because a man called havoc couldn't control his adrenaline) but she came back easily, her prince charming wasn't so thrilled about this but who cares they lived happily ever after hurayyyyy 👏👏👏
STUPID, IGNORANT, BLAND, UNREALISTIC, JUST ANOTHER TEENSY LOVE STORY, FAR FROM TRUTH, NOTHING TO LEARN FROM THIS BOOK, NOT GAINED A SINGLE INFO ABOUT THE ACTUAL TOPIC: SUICIDE.

I saw this book at the library when it was first released, and it quite intrigued me. (Not to mention the cover is one of the most gorgeous ones I’ve ever seen. <3 <3 ) I looked at it a few times, but I always put it back because I wasn’t sure I was up for reading a book with suicide as the main topic.
Flashforward about a year later and my Goodreads feed blew up with friends leaving rave reviews of it. I got a few more details from them about the content (thank you for answering my detailed questions!) and finally decided it was time to give it a try. I couldn’t find a copy at my library, so I bought a used copy and I’m so glad I did.
This book is not what I was expecting. I have no idea what I was expecting, exactly, but this wasn’t it. This was so much more. More compelling. More emotionally tangible. More everything.
The opening chapter caught hold of my emotions so well. I felt every question, ounce of devastation, and shred of guilt Hadley did. The unexpected death of someone I didn’t really know has hit me twice now, so I related deeply. The suicide was never shown or explained even, but I didn’t feel that it need to be for me to see the devastating wrongness of it happening.
I really liked all the characters. Maybe liked isn’t the right word, since some of them were unsavory. They were well done, and I felt like I knew them by the end. Hadley was just really, really normal--not a Mary Sue or a Manic Pixie Dream Girl. Even though she wasn’t the one who the deal was centered on, I loved how she had loneliness and worry for the future and some things she needed rescuing from just as much as Archer.
Archer. He was not a particularly likeable character, but I was rooting for his rescue every single page. He had so much to live for and yet so much trauma and unaddressed PTSD and guilt that threatened to suffocate him. Not to mention the social barriers he had built to protect himself. Every once in a while, I got a glimpse of the sweet man deep inside him, but I grew to love him in all his facets. Oh, and I very much loved his family. They were realistically loud and nosy and wonderful. XD
I guess Death is probably the third character of the main ones. He was as mysterious and unsettling as you would expect, but I liked the pretty strong hints that he’s definitely under God’s authority and possibly some type of angel. I wasn’t expecting that from a mainstream published book, so kudos.
And the crux of the story came directly from a Scripture. <3
Friend, this book isn’t about a suicide or preventing a suicide or falling in love or rescuing and being rescued or the sanctity of life or learning to live even though it was about those things. No, the book was about answering the question, how far would you go to love someone? With nothing in return? Just because someone needs to love them. What are you willing to give up?
It was thoroughly amazing and challenging and tearjerking. <3
I’m going to pass on the favor done to me by my lovely Goodreads friends and tell you a little bit about the content. This book was heavy on redacted language as well as a very obvious acronym for one word. I’ll be using some whiteout on my copy to make re-reads more to my preference. ;) Also, the kissing in this was a little more descriptive than I prefer and happened in an undefined relationship.
Altogether, this was a truly impactful read. I’m so glad I took a chance on it. <3

Such a beautiful story. Amazing how someone is willing to do so much to save a life of someone they barely even know. Loved this story so much. Near the ending I got all teary eyed. Loved the build up throughout the story and the crazy twist near the end! Absolutely a must read!

This was surprisingly interesting
The plot was captivating, it kept me hooked and had me wishing there was a sequel to it (which there isn't, sadly) 😭
The character of Death was honestly my favorite, along with Archer who was such a sweetheart, I wanted to hug him and protect him from everything 🥺
Although I did feel like a few important subjects were avoided and we weren't given much history of Archer, hence the four stars.
Overall, it was a decent read which I WILL pick up again! 💗

Been called from the literal 'Death' Hadley has to go back in time and help Archer, and prevent him to commit something that his whole family would have to pay for. But in the way, sparks fly, and so does love in this story of Archer and Hadley.
You tell me? This book was actually good for me after being constantly pampered with assignments, the way this book had a strong plot, yet this book was a bit weird in delivering it.
Starting off from the very own writing style, it's easy and simple to read, making it engaging for me to read.
The plot of the 27 days is a strong pillar that needs to be built with strong storyline. And it may have messed up on it, on the character's depth, it still didn't ceased to amaze me at a point.

I read this whole thing over the weekend, and now I miss it. It was, simply put, AMAZING. Everything from the characters, to the coffeehouse/autumn setting, to the super cool concept of Death and personified. It was all so wonderful, so enchanting, so real.
The characters are definitely the highlight. My first impression of Archer was, "HE'S SO RUDE." But the more I learned about him, the more I realized how much more rested underneath his snarky behavior...
Finding Archer. That is Hadley's purpose, her journey, from the moment she signs the contract with Death, practically jumping at the chance to try to save his life. The way it was written, I connected with Hadley right away. She's likeable from the start, and that likeability only grows as the story progresses. Simply put, she's AWESOME.
I could gush about Archer for a long time, but let me just say... go read it and find out for yourself, okay?? Do it! Please! You need this book in your life! *flails*
And his wonderful, beautiful family. *sobs* I love all of them, even Victoria, so much it hurts. <3333
The pacing was spot-on and made it very, very hard to put down. It was barely out of my hands throughout the two days I gobbled it up.
(content note: There were several uses of an abbreviation for a cuss word. I'm just glad it was abbreviated, to be honest... :/ Also some kisses, nothing overly detailed. Very clean read, if you ask me!)

Yes, I read this book in one day. (Well, technically I read a little the night before, then speed-read it the next day, but that’s beside the point.)

This book was really hard for me to read. Not because the writing style was hard to decipher - it wasn’t! Not because I hated the characters - I love Hadley and Archer and ship them both! #Archley (is that the ship name? I don’t know)
It wasn’t because I hated the plot - it was super creative, and I loved what the author did with Death and Havoc. I was hooked from the start, and I was seriously rooting for Hadley (and, in a way, Archer). And the ending was perfect.
The only reason that this was hard to read is because I wish I was Hadley, and had the same chance she did.
I love the message this book sends: to cherish every second you have with people, and not be afraid to reach out to people who might be struggling. After all, we don’t always know what people's mental states are like.
There are too many Archers in this world and not enough Hadleys. We all need to take a step up and help those going through a rough time.
I think everyone definitely needs to read this book. It’s beautiful and lyrical and important. And yes, I did cry at the end, but it was a happy sort of cry. :)

LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL. It's always been true and it always will be, but sometimes, going out of your way to prove to someone else how true it is can change the course of history.
Hadley gets to learn this in an entirely supernatural way--when a classmate commits suicide, she gets the chance to go back in time to try to keep it from happening. However, there are Other Forces that don't want that to happen. Hence creepy messages appearing on the windows in permanent marker, and dark accidents happening to everyone she loves.
And also LOVE because this /is/ a YA novel.
Hadley's sass and determination were a breath of fresh air. I'll ALWAYS love unique heroines. Hadley may not have been the MOST unique, but after the last few YA novels (*cough cough* and even adult novels) I've read....OH MY GOSH SHE'S A VERITABLE PARAGON OF UNIQUENESS. And I love that her big journey was bringing people back together, trying to bring light to people's lives...including her own.
(Totally a side note but we sTAN novels where someone sets out to save someone else and as it turns out they're sort of saving themselves all along. That is all I shall say about that. But like...ack. The QUALITY.)
Basically this was an amazing study of how one single act can change everything. Or maybe almost dying. Multiple times. (I'd be lying if I said I didn't relate to Hadley's klutziness and bad luck on a spiritual level).
Also Archer, despite his grumpiness, had a certain charm and I cared for him a lot. Make your "bad boy" actually endearing, folks. It helps. *glares at every YA (*cough cough* and adult) novel "bad boy"*
Big Italian families will always be the BEST too.
The biggest thing that docked points for me was the writing style. It just sorta...didn't click for me. But that's a personal thing, so I would by no means keep from recommending this book because of it, hence the four stars. ;)

The story sounded super interesting but the execution was not good. It wasn't what I wanted. The characters were boring, and I kept thinking that the story could have been so much better. I wanted more depth to the characters. It wasn't all bad though, it still was interesting sometimes. But honestly it wasn't good.
Oh and the audiobook was bad, I don't recommend it.

I remember reading this on Wattpad and liking it, I’m glad that that hadn’t changed because I read it a long time ago. It was a light read, it can be felt that this was among the first stories the author had written since it could use more developing. There were some unanswered questions, but it was a nice walk down memory lane.

Miss Gervais did a wonderful job with all the characters in In 27 Days I think my favorite was Death. I could relate to Harvey on most things, and really sympathized with Archer. Hadley's choice made me happy.
the concept
I loved the idea. It was really cool. Death and Havoc were just really cool in general.
the setting
New York City in the winter? Yes! I loved that.

I know that this is something that bothers me just because of the way suicide has touched my life, but I still feel like I need to address it. There was little to no explanation of like the actual suicide part of it. And Hadley was like upset about it, but then, as soon as she actually started the 27 days, it was like, oh, okay, I guess she forgot about it? Which bothered me. I don't know. All in all, I enjoyed this book, but did have a few qualms about it. But it was a good book, and I would recommend it.

the characters
Miss Gervais did a wonderful job with all the characters in In 27 Days I think my favorite was Death. I could relate to Harvey on most things, and really sympathized with Archer. Hadley's choice made me happy.
the concept
I loved the idea. It was really cool. Death and Havoc were just really cool in general.
the setting
New York City in the winter? Yes! I loved that.

the actual suicide part of it
I know that this is something that bothers me just because of the way suicide has touched my life, but I still feel like I need to address it. There was little to no explanation of like the actual suicide part of it. And Hadley was like upset about it, but then, as soon as she actually started the 27 days, it was like, oh, okay, I guess she forgot about it? Which bothered me. I don't know. And there was no, like, "suicide is a real thing, y'all!" And, I mean, it was fiction, so... But I don't know I felt like it was just like, "oh, Archer committed suicide, that's sad. Let's fix it and forget about it!" I don't know. That just really bothered me. Maybe I'm being strange about it. I don't know.

How would you cope if you woke up every morning with a number on your wrist, knowing that it was the amount of days you had left to save a life?
“Changing a person’s fate, preventing them from dying…that’s very serious business. Not something a mere human should ever concern themselves with.”
But that’s the task that Hadley Jamison is handed by a man named Death at a classmate’s funeral. She barely knew Archer other than having a class or two together years ago, but when he commits suicide she’s offered a deal that she couldn’t possibly refuse. Cuando vi la sinopsis de este libro me llamó mucho la atención, aunque al ver que era una novela nacida en Wattpad, me daba un poco de miedo. Nunca me ha gustado generalizar pero los libros que han salido de Wattpad no suelen gustarme. Sin embargo, "En 27 días" ha sido un libro que ha estado a la altura.
Este libro podría considerarse un thriller ya que su principal atractivo es conocer los motivos que provocaron el suicidio de Archer para que Hadley pueda evitarlo cuando viaja 27 días atrás. Los datos de la vida de Archer que provocaron el fatídico desenlace se descubren muy poco a poco.
En cuanto a los personajes, Hadley es una joven siempre dispuesta a ayudar y que hace todo lo posible para conocer a Archer en profundidad. Por otro lado, Archer es un personaje con muchos secretos y que siempre intenta apartar de su vida a todas las personas que se encuentra. Es necesario leer buena parte del libro para comprender a Archer y poder verlo con otros ojos.
Los motivos que se esconden tras un suicido adolescente pueden ser de lo más complejos. Lo más destacable del libro es el mensaje que intenta transmitir en la forma de prestar ayuda a aquellas personas que luchan contra sus problemas y un mundo interior más complicado de lo que cabe esperar. Hadley será la encargada de hacer entrar en razón, comprender y ayudar a Archer antes de que tome tan mala decisión. Si lo logra, es algo que descubriréis leyendo el libro.
En resumen: una historia diferente con el suicidio adolescente como tema principal. Dos personajes muy interesantes y un poco herméticos deberán perder sus miedos para que Hadley logre evitar en esta segunda oportunidad el fatal desenlace.

also, I'm not a huge fan of the Goodreads cover...the edition I read had a much nicer cover that didn't look sappy, lol.
This book was amazing and startling and arghhgh, I loved it so much. I read it in two days, and I literally could not put it down. It was such an unique and original concept, and I loved the characters so much.
And it was really clean! There is some romance, but nothing explicit or inappropriate. A couple implied swear words ("BS") and a couple instances of "God", but other than that, no language.
I really want to read the sequel now. :))

wasted potential.
i went into this book expecting something deep and moving (totally my fault for not knowing it was originally from wattpad). the premise sounded like it could change my life, and i even convinced my boyfriend to buddy read it with me! shoutout to him because i wanted to dnf at 30%.
the whole thing felt super shallow and kind of juvenile. it’s clearly aimed at a younger audience, but even then… the topic is so sensitive that the unrealistic approach just frustrated me. it could have been something really powerful, but it just didn’t land for me.

This book made me smile so much but I cried my eyes out when I finished it because it was such a beautiful story.
The writing was very typical of a Wattpad story, but bearable.

I read this over six years ago but it was really special to me because it was one of the few Wattpad books I really enjoyed. It was very original; I genuinely do feel like Wattpad had some real gems - funnily enough NOT one the books that actually received a movie deal.
*Cough cough*, I am currently reading After in lieu of the second movie coming out and I am seriously not impressed.
I want to give this book five stars, but my memory is a little rusty so that’s my measure of error.
Storyline: Archer is a quiet gorgeous Italian boy in Hadley’s school year who commits suicide - I believe they are seniors. She never interacted much with him though she remembers seeing him around. She attends his funeral where his sees mother, and younger siblings gut-wrenchingly broken.
After leaving the funeral she is approached by the Angel of Death who offers her a deal. She can turn back time to 27 days prior - without disclosing anything of what will be - and see if she can save Archer from his impending fate.
From what I remember despite dealing with a heavy theme throughout it was really light, and funny at times.

What I Loved...
Allllll the cuteness. I think I was squealing for about 50% of the book. Just ask my poor sister. Yes, there are some pretty dark elements to In 27 Days, but that didn't stop Alison Gervais from adding so many cute moments. ESPECIALLY THE ONE WITH THE PENGUINS (if you've read In 27 Days, you know what I mean). I should probably stop before I spoil the book. xD
Mama Rosa's Coffee Shop. First of all, there was sugar in the form of cinnamon rolls and Danishes and all sorts of baked goods. Second of all, there was hot chocolate. Third, a fireplace. If only Mama Rosa's was real.... It would be the greatest place EVER to write. And read. And do it again.
The personification of Death and *spoilers*. Death's character really was done well. Death was interesting, and he had some depth to him that I didn't expect seeing. Basically, all of the characters were spot on!
The way the author handled the topic of suicide. I appreciated that the author portrayed suicide in a negative light and showed that there is hope for those who feel suicidal, but I did wish that she dealt with it a little more than she did. I felt that it almost became a background issue. Maybe it's just me that feels this way though?
Aaaallll the quotes.I have about a dozen or so quotes from this book that I may or may not have saved on my phone. See the one below to understand.
We were together and for that moment, it was enough.
I would go on with what I loved, such as the plot, but that would take waaaayyyyy too long! xD
What I Didn't Love...
There was a tiny bit of language.But only a tiny bit! I feel that when there was a bit of language it was unnecessary, but it didn't detract from my reading experience. Overall, this was a pretty clean read.
Typos.Be warned that there are some noteiceable typos in the hardcover format, and I read in another review that it was the same way in the Kindle format. To be honest, they didn't bother me that much, but I felt that they should've been cleaned up.
Overall...
In 27 Days was a great story with a great message and memorable characters and settings that had me hooked from the first chapter. Because of some more mature elements, I would recommend this book for readers ages 14 and up.
