I read a few chapters and skimmed a few more. This book suffers from fantasy worldbuilding overdose and needs some serious editing. There are also a lot of “telling not showing” over dramatic paragraphs. Example below - it goes on for pages.

“He ran down to the sand – he always ran rather than walked because he loved the feeling of the warm sunshine mixed with the cooler sea breeze upon his cheeks and the feeling of the sand under his feet. He ran because he was free, free as the wind, and the eternal sky and sea had promised him freedom and dreams, forever.”

🥀The book " Mechaniek: Lost Paradise" is a post apocalyptic sci-fi steampunk LGBTQ narrative penned down by J C Compton with flammable portrayals, a terrific storyline and lucid as well as understandable language.
So basically the tale takes place in future where there is a war kind of situation and no peace there. The tale revolves around the prime protagonist Taliesin, who lives in Ethia and is a fisherman and a very simple and peaceful person. He has a big scar on his forearm which he got from the toxic storm.

🥀He was saved by a guy mechanic Merrick. Soon after they accept their love for each other and choose to dwell with each other in a tropical paradise and they name it paradise island. They made a promise to reunite there but due to some reasons, Merrick doesn't appear. After some time Taliesin found out that Merrick has been somehow, accused of pirating. He tries everything to save the love of his life and for that matter, he presents himself in front of a mysterious man. That man puts some ominous terms and conditions in exchange for the freedom of Merrick.

🥀Will Taliesin be able to convince himself of the shocking condition? Who is this mysterious man? And why did he put such conditions before him? Browse this incredible book to get answers to all your questions, and calm down your curiosity. This book contains thrill, suspense, romance, LGBTQ element, and whatnot. Covered in an artistic book cover, the story has numerous elements to give it to the readers.

🥀The author must be admired for the storyline and the plot. I appreciate the story of how the author has beautifully depicted this unique story full of love, thrill, adventure, LGBTQ element, steamy romance, sci-fi factor and everything else that a book surely must have to captivate the readers. The story gets quite interesting as it moves on. I recommend it to everyone because it is worth your time!

There is science, romance, thrill... honestly, what more could you ask for!

This story takes place in future. The story is based around our protagonist named Taliesin who lives a simple and peaceful life as a fisherman on the isle of Ethia. He is left with a big scar on his forearm as a result of the toxic rain that almost destroyed the planet. One day, a toxic storm hit the planet and Taliesin finds himself caught up in this storm but then he was saved by a mechanic named Merrick.

Mechaniek: Lost Paradise by JC Compton is a full package book that contains drama, love, thrill and suspense. The book promises one thing from its title and the cover is entertainment and a fun read and successfully delivers it.

The story revolves around a fisherman, Taliesin, a man who wants peace, loves peace but is trapped in a world that is at war and is being ruled by mechanieks now. A toxic rain has given him a big scar on his forearm. One day trapped in a toxic war he is saved by Merrick a renegade mechanic. They fall in love and start living on an island and name it the Paradise island. After sometime Merrick has to leave but they take vows to meet at the Paradise island again but he doesn't come back.

Thinking that this is the story? It's just the beginning. The real story begins when Taliesin goes to find Merrick and discovers that he is arrested and in order to free him he agrees to be part of a scandal little to realize about his own past. Who is he? Will he be able to save Merrick?

📒 Soon they fell in love with each other and find a different place for them. They named the place “Paradise Island”. Merrick then bought Taliesin back to Ethia. He promies him that he will definitely come back after fixing his mechanical sailboat.

“Taliesin did not understand why the idea of sharing wealth so that everyone could have a home and food was nonsense. In fact, if they all had enough, would they still go to war with other kingdoms?”

As I was reading this book, all I was thinking was that love is very powerful. I read this in less than 24hrs yo! This book was that good. I felt the love that Talesin and Merrick felt in this story. I understood the stakes. I didn’t appreciate the mind manipulation 😡. It made me furious at certain characters that felt that they needed to keep them away at all costs.

Talesin is a very sweet and kind character that is a wanderer, and he is fine with that. When he meets Merrick, there was something about him that made Talesin change his mindset. In a post-apocalyptic world where the glaciers have all melted, toxic rain that can kill you, and a world that consists of islands, survival at all costs is important. The battles that these characters go through to have some semblance of joy is excruciating. I felt for the M/M romance. I just it had open door relations (#smutreader). It was written well and I was absorbed in this fantasy. I couldn’t put it down! That ending though 😅

Thank you @pridebooktours for having me on this tour. I can’t wait to see what everyone else thinks. Btw.. it is free on kindle unlimited 😊 @spectrumbookpublisher

J.C Compton's innate ability to paint a picture with words had me completely immersed in this mesmerising novel. This story is set in a futuristic apocalyptic world of Mechaniek; a place that has immerged from the great toxic war. It is a world where cities are shielded from green clouds that pour toxic acid. I was completely gripped and absorbed in the beautiful isles of Ethia and Horizon City. The author's world-class storytelling and a plethora of rich detail kept me completely intrigued. We learn about the history of the war, the mechanics school and societal structures. Through vivid descriptions, I was able to clearly see the machines and ships in this wonderful world. This cleverly structured story left me wondering what was true, what was lies and what was dreams. We are introduced to Taliesin, a young man who lives on the beautiful isles of Ethia. He is a fisherman, living a simple life. Following a chance meeting during a storm at sea he meets Merrick; a young mechanic alone on his own ship. The author had me on the edge of my seat yearning for the couple to find love and happiness together. I absolutely loved this story can't wait to read the next book. This is an easy five star review from me.

✍This is story about a man named Taliesin. Taliesin is a gentle fisherman on the island of Ethia, with only a big scar on his forearm as a result of the planet's toxic rain.

✍He was stuck in a poisonous storm one day and rescued the renegade mechanic Merrick. They fall deeply in love and discover a tropical paradise known as "Paradise Island." Merrick returns to Ethia with the Taliesin, promising to return after repairing his mechanical sailboat. If they are separated, they promise to reunite on "paradise Island." Merrick, on the other hand, never returns. Taliesin learns that Merrick has been charged with piracy. Taliesin tries to save him, but in exchange for Merrick's freedom, a mysterious man gives him the chance to play the part of a lost prince and pretend to marry his own son. The question now is why this unknown stranger promised him Merrick's freedom in exchange for his freedom. Is there a hidden meaning behind it?

✍The author put out significant effort in writing this tale, just like she does in her "undertaker Inc." book. I'm having a great time reading. This narrative is written in simple English. I strongly recommend you to read it.

The story weaved on Taliesin, A calm fisherman on the island of Ethia.
He is stuck in a poisonous storm one day and is rescued by the rogue mechanic Merrick.
The story progress when Merrick saved Taliesin from the storm and slowly they begin to love each other.
They found one place, paradise Island and called it a token of their love, and took a vow to meet again in the same place if they separated but she never came back.

After some time, Merrick was arrested for piracy. So, after hearing this news.
Is Taliesin sitting quietly or doing something for her?
This is one of the best parts of the story so, I won't reveal or be a spoiler for you.
Go ahead and read this...

I always love to read sci-fi and that's what I enjoyed about this, and having a lot of brand new things from the story.
I appreciate the author for well portraying the whole plot in a very interesting and engaging way. The concept is original and advanced.
I am so glad to read this sci-fi novel.
Do pick it up!!!

Many thanks to the author and Pride Book Tours for an e-copy in exchange for an honest review!

MECHANIEK: LOST PARADISE is perfect when you are looking for a fun adventure/ love story. Both the plot and writing style are very enjoyable and it’s perfect to read in one sitting. However, if you are someone who needs everything to be perfect, this book might not be for you. I know stating that this book isn’t perfect sounds negative, but I don’t mean it that way at all. If I, for example, watch a movie like Back to the Future (one of my all-time favourites), I could point out everything that’s unbelievable and incorrect about it. But really it’s just an amazing film, because all of that 'imperfectness' is exactly what makes it super enjoyable. I feel the same about this book.

I think the relationship between Taliesin and Merrick was instant love on a whole new level (although I must admit later on there was an explanation that changed my mind a little bit) and it felt way too rushed. But as I continued reading, I realised I really didn’t care. I loved them and I desperately wanted them to find their way back to each other. This together with all the adventures and sci-fi stuff made it such a treat to read.

I should not forget to mention that it also addresses many social issues (economic inequality, pollution, authoritarianism, etc.). Taliesin is raised on an island and thinks everyone is kind and the world is good. When he gets confronted with ‘the real world’, the reader does too. We all know what’s going on in the world, but we all accept it because it’s easier. Through Taliesin’s eyes, you start to realise how ridiculous some things are (like, for example, everyone’s obsession with having lots of digital money that doesn’t even exist) and that maybe we shouldn't (accept it).

All in all, it’s a very enjoyable read. I’m not sure if it’s for everyone (but, let’s be honest, that probably goes for every book), but it’s definitely for me!

This was honestly such a good read.
I was invested in seeing how Taliesin and Merrick would come together time and time again.
This story is full of outisde brainwashing and manipulation so you never quite know what's the truth but that makes it all the more intriguing.
I loved how each of the characters had different strengths that when combined create really cool things, quite literally in most cases given that most are mechanics. The friendship dynamic between Merrick and Nex was so good. Even though he was quite chaotic I really loved Death Machine Nex.
Throughout the entire story there was this theme of two worlds coming together, island life vs city life, mechanic vs fisherman, prince vs commoner. It was a really interesting dynamic, I loved seeing how the two ends of the spectrum would meet.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

I'm not usually a reader of the scifi genre, but I like the vampire series by this author. This book is definitely a new take, in a creative futuristic world. Like the author's other books, it is filled with poetic and sentimental descriptions, love, drama, and plenty of humor. The plot catches your attention and leaves you wondering until the end whether or not Taliesin and Merick will find each other again. 4 stars because I would have liked to see a little more heat during the love scenes.

"Indeed, sometimes words were not enough, or they only made things more complicated. So he stopped trying to force his thoughts into words and only allowed himself to feel."

Hello yall! Today I'm with Pride Book Tours letting you know about Mechaniek: Lost Paradise. First and foremost: yes, my photoshop work is bad and I should feel bad. My Kindle stopped working last night and so I had to slap on an ill fitted picture instead.

Mechaniek: Lost Paradise is a dystopian LGBTQ+ sci-fi romance by JC Compton. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be labeled romance, but you know I read it for the romance so I'm calling it as I see it. I loved the characters-- especially Merrick-- and surprisingly enjoyed the world building. Often a sci-fi or fantasy can lose me with too much world building, so I tend to stick with contemporary. However, The world building in this novel was ingrained in a way that didn't lose me, helped by the fact our two leads are thrown in together almost immediately in a forced proximity situation that totally sucked me in.

Fun fact: I'm ridiculous and immediately forgot everything in the description and the literal tag-line of this novel, because again I have the attention span of a fish. So when we got to brainwashing and conspiracy and plots against royalty I was genuinely so shocked hahaha

Mechaniek: Lost Paradise is on Kindle Unlimited and I recommend it for those who like dystopian sci fi and mlm romance! Branch out, babies!
