This Series of Books is Addictive

I can't wait to read the next book! Jerry does the one thing he said he would never do: he goes to a family reunion at his uncles mountain home! And finds some answers to questions he's had in the past, and with an uncle he'd disliked for so many years! Jerry discovers some new facts about his uncle and realizes his impressions were so wrong, while at the same time an old flame has come to him for help. Jerry stays for the reunion, and makes some big changes in his outlook on his family, while also being determined to help an old girlfriend find peace and helping to give her parents closure! In doing so he may have found a new calling!

book 4

An overall good story, with family background and enlightenment. A case partially solved, but a cliffhanger ending. That’s not very nice or fair of the author. This is not a very long story. The author could have easily gotten in the ending. I hate authors who feel the need to drum up business by cliffhangers. If I don’t like the story, a cliffhanger is not going to make me get the next book. It is a cheap shot and not classy at all. I happen to have the next book waiting, so it won’t affect me any. But what about all the readers who pay by the book? One star removed in my review for the author’s cheap shot.

I can't stop reading this series!

Since I started this series, I've read one of the books a day. I love dogs and because the series was about a police officer and his German shepherd I decided to check it out. Each book is about a new " case" as the former police officer and his ghostly canine. The dog had been police dog who was shot in the line of duty. Police officer, Jerry, has had the gift/curse of seeing and hearing people and a dog Gunther that have died since he was a kid. Not that he's happy about it. With help from the dead and the dog he solves cases and bring closure to families amidst souls.

The K-9 Ghost Team Does It Again!

Jerry finds his calling! He also strengthens his relationship with his partner, K-9 Officer Gunter (passed away, but far from gone!), and his family members when he returns to his home state for a family reunion. He even connects with old friends--ack! I have come to really care about these fictional characters! That's when you know the author has you. Great story, and I'm glad that it continues, because I can hardly wait to see what happens next!

Very enjoyable series.

A guy who sees ghosts, a K-9 police dog who is a ghost. Who better to help other ghosts find peace? Jerry travels to a family reunion that he doesn't want to attend. His father said some awful things to him years ago after Jerry's brother died. His uncle Marvin is a liar and kind of crazy. Jerry isn't anxious to see either of them, but his grandma (who has been dead for 5 years) persuades him to go; against his better judgement, he goes. In the end, he and Gunter solve a mystery for grieving parents of an old friend, he comes to understand his father better and finds out that Uncle Marvin has his own secrets, and just maybe he understands himself a bit better. A quick, fun read! I plan to read this entire series.

It’s in the genes

The time for the family reunion has come. Jerry goes home and we learn all about his brother, granny, tense relationship with dad, and of course his uncle. Many of his perceptions are changed and we learn about new gifts and how helpful Gunter will be in their partnership. His former boss is still present and so was Samantha. The updates to the cabin showed his character and the time with Patti his personality. This is a good story and the series keeps getting better and better.

I have really enjoyed this series, but I’m listening to the audiobook of this one and just can’t finish it. I’ll get the e-book and finish because it sounds like it’s going to be a good one. But the narrator is hideous. Her name is Bethann Reid. She’s so melodramatic you can actually hear her spitting when she gets to the parts where she’s upset or mad about something. Really really over-the-top. I prefer audiobooks in general, but this is a great example of how a narrator can either make or break a book for you.

Can't wait for book 5!

I have read ALL four books in as many days/nights since I HAD to get some sleep sometime (and also feed my curmudgeon of a husband! Who by the way watched YOU TUBE 24/7, but threatens to take my "toy" away if I didn't get everything done that I was supposed to do...)
This series is going to keep you on the edge of your seat, she is an excellent author, and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND them!! I can't wait for the NEXT book in this series!

Jerry is invited to stay for a few days with his aunt and uncle in their cabin when they will be holding a grand family party. Jerry doesn't want to go but the ghost of his grandmother tells him that he should. He stays at Savannah and Alexis' summer cabin which is a few miles away from his aunts. The only problem is that he meets an old girlfriend, or to be exact, the spirit of an old girlfriend who can't remember how or where she died and asks for his help..........

This book w completely awesome! It's definitely sad be.it's also very joyful! Most all of us u lost a loved one at some point in their life! Some of us are ok with the death of a family member! Some of us can't feel relief because that missing family member isn't buried in the family plot!! I'm stunned by the ending of this saga because this family member is found and buried in her family plot

Another five stars

This has been the best of the series so far. I like the way this series is advancing. I'm looking forward to the next book, which I have already pre-ordered. One suggestion for future books I'd like to see. Please clean up the language. The curse words are not necessary.

Saga continues

As Jerry and Gunter proceed towards the dreaded family reunion in the town where Jerry grew up, the pair become more in sync.

Jerry’s abilities and perceptions seem to be enhanced by Gunter’s presence, and the reunion provides Jerry some startling surprises about his family and his past.

Book 4 is great!

Jerry is going to attend his family reunion which he really doesn’t want to do. I love the way Jerry is “finding himself” as these books are progressing. He and Gunter are pulled into another mystery involving a ghost. I really hope the author continues with these books. I am enjoying them so much.

Good story told simply.

Again and again Jerry and Gunter help and this time it is a spirit and her family. No longer a Pennsylvania state trooper, Jerry is finding his path and continuing to do good. I appreciate the feel good stories with Jerry and Gunter and how Jerry’s struggles are not minimized but slowly dealt with realistically.

Great Series! Reviewed by Beth and not Elree

Once again Sherry Burton did an outstanding job with crafting such a wonderful story.

For some it would be a stretch to see relationships. I really enjoyed watching relationships being built, repaired and sometimes settled.

So I encourage you to join me in this adventure reading.

A great mystery series involving a psychic and his side-kick a K-9 ghost dog, Jerry is a lost soul searching for his path in life after having seen too much during his stint serving his country, helping others along the way with his visions. Light reading and enjoyable as I enjoy books involving psychics and K-9's.

They just keep getting better

This is my 4th in the Jerry McNeal series by Sherry A Burton. They are getting better & better. I am starting to like Jerry. It took me 2 books to start liking him. I love Gunter. If you like a paranormal story with animals you will probably like this series.

Refreshingly different

I was tired of the unending violence in so many of the latest cop/mystery novels when I found this series. The hero is smart, kind and conflicted, without the ego of the typical hero. Ease up on expectations and prepare to be entertained!

Not only could I not put the first one down, I've not been able to put any of them down. I don't normally read a series this fast. These are totally addictive, and I'm going through them back-to-back, without waiting between books. Jerry and his K9 partner make a great team, even when Jerry doesn't understand K9-ese. Thoroughly enjoying the entire series. Worth your time to read them all.

Jerry really is a good man.

His relationship with Gunter is getting better and better. Gunter is so smart. As he keeps giving more people peace , Jerry seems to be getting better himself. He has a wonderful support network both living and dead. I do wonder where he will go next and who he will be helping.

Okay I’m addicited

This series’s started out a bit sluggish but 4 books in I’m starting to like this guy and his dog. The stories are short enough to read on a rainy day and don’t end in a cliff hanger but with just a bit of insight to what is coming next. I think Sherry A Burton could be my next favorite author. Happy reading.

Chosen Path

Jerry quit the State Police and wasn't real sure what he was going to do. He went to the family reunion he had avoided for years and changes and clarity were in abundance. Will he be able to help a former girlfriend find peace? Is this the start of a new path in life?

Jerry goes to visit his family for a family reunion and meets up with ghosts of his relatives and discovers more family members with his gift. He comes to an understanding and releases some of his anger he'd been carrying for far too long while also solving a case of a disappearance when an old flame appears in ghostly form. With the help of his K9 Ghost partner, he locates the body and solves the mystery. He also realizes he is on the right path for the purpose of his life.

I love this series!

This is definitely unique in the way that Gunter takes his place with Jerry and the way their relationship grows as they help the dead as well as the living. I just wish the books were longer, but I am grateful to the author for sharing her vision.

Characters are so well formed you can picture them in your mind like a movie, it flows so well. I'm sorry when these books have to end but I guess even the writer needs a break.

Great reads come from exploring new writers

This isn't my normal genre of books. But I stumbled across it in one of those "people also read" sections. Now this is one of my favorite series. If you're like me, try something different. You won't be disappointed.
