There was only one partner position available at our law firm. And I was never going to let him win without a fight.
Unless… he won my heart first. I’ve got to tell you; he came really close. He had my heart when he held me close, vowing to never let me go. He had it when I fell into his bed. And then he had it when he said those three words.
But I had to face reality at some point. We were in a deep, deep problem. Our relationship was forbidden, completely off-limits, and wrong. Heck, I couldn’t even make up my mind about whether I loved him or hated him.
The mess was real. The rivalry was real. But there was something that was even more troublesome. The pregnancy test that came back positive.
Could an unborn baby convince us to stop being enemies and fight the world so we can be a family?
This is my first time to leave a review, after 5+ years of kindle unlimited reading. I always give a “star” rating, but never felt compelled to leave any feedback.
The story was good. I liked the characters. But there were so many errors. Grammatical, spelling, mechanical (the quotations—used incorrectly many times), and even with the plot. Words were left out, wrong names used, characters referencing themselves as “me” and then “she” in the same sentence. (1st person and 3rd person point of view issues several times) A character name spelled one way, then another. His mom was in one car, and then appeared in another car moments later. Just silly errors that any editor would notice immediately, and had me itching to fix myself.
The longer the book went on, the more errors appeared on the pages. It became distracting, frustrating, and sometimes confusing. The story loses a lot when the reader has to backtrack to try to figure out who is speaking, and what they are trying to say. I feel like the story has potential, and I hate to leave negative feedback and a less than stellar review, but with all the work that goes into writing a book, I would hope an author would be more intentional with the editing process. It would have likely been a 4 star book at least, had it been edited. So, if an editor was paid for this job, a new editor needs to be employed. If no editor was employed…it might be a good idea to find one.
The only plot detail that I thought was odd, and wished was not in the story at all, was after the baby was born, he immediately took the child out of the delivery room to meet the family….and then left the child there to go back to the child’s mother by himself! What?!? I don’t know of any hospital that would even allow this to happen. Legally—just wouldn’t be an option. Even putting this aside, what new father takes the baby—before the mom has even held it herself—out of the room for any reason, and then returns without it. And she didn’t care at all. Very, very strange! Did not like that one bit.
This is a story about enemies to lovers, Ethan is working to become a partner in his firm where he has worked and proved himself over the past 5 years and working on the biggest case of his career to ensure his partnership with a win. Alexia has worked at a law firm where the men don’t think woman can become a partner so she finds a new job at the firm Ethan works at knowing there are 2 partnerships opening up. Alexia is put on the same case as Ethan as an equal and things get turned upside down in his professional and personal life. There is an instant connection between them but the firm has a policy where relationships among co-workers is not allowed. Once they start spending time together the lines become blurred and as much as they hid it there is one lazy mean co-worked who will use it against them. The partners pull the rug out from everyone and only offer 1 partnership and Ethan says some unthinkable things to Alexia and she is heartbroken and keeps her secret to herself to protect herself and hopefully a position in her new firm. Both Ethan and Alexia have best friends that are there for them and Ethan’s tells him how it is and it’s up to Ethan to make it right and Alexia’s is there for her each step of the way. There are twist and surprises that will make you see those who are mean and cheat really do get what they deserve. Ethan and Alexia make the decision to move forward and how they do it is just right for them! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Hands down one of the worst books I’ve seen with so many grammatical errors. I am not going to go on a high and mighty horse here because I understand that writing is hard, but geez, this book was tough to get through because I couldn’t even follow the words at some points. “I” became “she” and quotations were in the wrong spots. Words were just left out of sentences.
I feel like the storyline COULD have been good had the author focused a bit more on fluffing out the characters before sitting down and writing. I understand that this is a romance novel but people don’t ONLY EVER talk about sexual relations.
Also does the author have any knowledge of pregnancy or labor/birth? There are absolutely no time measurements throughout the whole book so it makes it hard to understand when we are in the timeline. That makes it hard especially when Leon is being slimy and it’s like how long has he held onto that? Or when the baby is born and suddenly Ethan’s mom is holding onto it like immediately? I just don’t understand the timelines.
Oh and another thing, the author is definitely not American and you can definitely tell with some of the slang used. Also the slang is very repetitive because there’s no storyline to even space it out.
I’m not sure I could even rate this book 2 stars, maybe I could have if one of my many issues were fixed, but as it stands, one star.
Lydia Hall wrote a masterpiece with this book. Alexia being a lawyer switching firms looking to gain a partnership position meets Ethan, big shot junior lawyer at her new firm who has been there several years and believes the position should be his no matter what.
From the get go the chemistry between these two characters is palpable even as they are trying to fight it for the no fraternizing rule the company has in place.
The author weaves a beautiful story of Alexia and Ethan falling deeper into love with each other, and of course what's a romance novel without some A+ angst to make you want to punch the main male character.
Definitely recommend, but beware your emotions as you ride this roller coaster.

This story is well written with highly developed characters. The problem for me was even though they knew what they were doing was wrong and could jeopardize their careers; they continued in their behavior like animals instead of conscience decision making humans. Although, they fall in love with each other, their decisions in their personal life made me think would I want one of these two as my defense attorney? Still, the story kept me intrigued just to see how this would end. It does have a twist in the climax of the story for a more interesting outcome.
Ethan is in the running for partner at his law firm until Alexia is hired. These two have sparks coming off their sparks. After a one time hookup, they think they can handle working together as co counsel on a huge case, but they have work place drama and the twist and turns of trying to figure out if they are meant to be…..Lydia Hall is a master at drawing you in.. Two supposedly professional people in competition with each other, make an epicly poor decision to screw each other shortly after meeting. What follows is anger, distrust, and nasty accusations. Given their behavior I disliked both main characters and have no idea why they would want to be together. There were quite a few typos in the book and a lot of idioms that were strange and with which I’m unfamiliar.
I loved the plot and the character development was good. I believe the author may be from the UK because of all the British slang and Euphemisms and phrases not normally heard coming from a rancher / lawyer in western America. The dog was called Jack in one paragraph and Jake a few sentences later then back to Jack in the next paragraph. Small little but correctable errors like that throughout the book.
This book had potential in the plot, but it felt like the author had never been to Montana and did zero research on the location for this book. They keep referencing visiting his family ranch in Montana...a 3 hour drive to Billings from Great Falls. But both cities are in Montana...you wouldnt need to reference the state like you had never been there if you lived there and that is how the main female character acts. Grammar and editing errors were distracting.
Okay read that started off strongly and had lots of potential. Both characters and their side kicks were engaging and likeable but towards the middle went a bit pear shaped. The office gossip/spy part of the story was disappointing and a real damp squid. Was an okay read but I’m not convinced I’d enjoy another.
Allow two days for this adult enemies-to-lovers boardroom chase between defense attorneys Ethan Daniels (over six feet tall and under thirty) and twenty-seven-year-old Alexia Taylor. 4 1/2*

ARC Review I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. This story has Alexia Taylor going to work at barnes, Cromwell and Asher lol law firm where she is working with Ethan Daniels who has his own issues. Awesome love the characters.
They are lawyers who are trying for a partner spot and it's the only one available. They make a great team together and they seem like a perfect match.

I liked the book, it had a lot of potential to be something great. But with that being said. I don’t think the author edited this what so ever. Way to many mistakes. From grammar errors for example it said Nippers when it was suppose to say nipples. Not to mention name is wrong place.
A enemies to lovers story. It has likable characters and great chemistry. It will keep your attention with its push and pull and twist and turns. It’s entertaining and great read.
Great story. Sometimes I was mad at the H he’s very arrogant. But the h was a strong woman and the story worked out perfectly in the end. Recommend this book. Well written book.
Que manera tan horrible de arruinar un personaje haciéndolo comportarse como un idiota para luego victimizarse, iba bien pero después de eso ya ni ganas me dio de leer. ☠️

I loved this story! It’s a classic man/woman/career struggle/power struggle with a new and fresh twist. Lydia Hall has a creative mind and has a great way of making you feel like you are in the room. Definitely a must read!!
