Feel free to Scream

My first kill was an accident. The rest were not.
It all started when I killed my sister's rapist. I knew from that moment that my calling was to rid the world of bad people.
But not everyone saw that as a good thing. Living a double life as a corporate employee and vigilante serial killer was difficult enough.
Then the police got involved.

What ensued was a journey full of nail-biting suspense and brutal bloodshed.

A vigilante with a mission. She accidentally killed her first victim. The scum raped her sister and walked away free. It awakened a need to punish the criminals and give justice to the victims. Her brand of justice that will leave them screaming.

This cover is nightmare fuel. I bought this based on it alone. Wasn't disappointed!

So one of the things that I enjoyed about Catcher in the Rye was how right from the first sentence, the main character just takes you over and brings you into their world. This book made me reminiscent of that. Our main character is sassy, playful, vengeful, and entertaining. And you could tell how much the author enjoyed writing her, too. So that always makes for a more enjoyable read. Just the way that the ‘victims’ are detailed and attacks were planned reeked of Boris Bacic having a blast. I didn’t see the twist at the end, but liked it a ton. Now the story has a very quick pace to it, however it was too fast at times. I really had fun with everything in this tale, but just wanted things to be drawn out a bit more. I wanted our main character to explore her continued sexual excitement after her attacks, to get to know her sister Summer on a level much deeper than Robert’s victim, and just more background on why each character made their decisions. And it didn’t need a ton of that padding that I’m referring to, but just enough to round everything out. But all in all, this was a really good read, and I am hopeful that after some subtle hinting at the end means more books in this potential series.

She didn’t mean to kill him, but once she had she got the taste for it….. I was drawn in by the premise, but what followed didn’t work for me. I do get why people love this kind of story, but I don’t enjoy them. Pages are given over to why a particular person deserves to die. Their evil is explored and stressed to the point that the reader is in no doubt that lawyers, juries and judges are not needed at all. This justifies their being wiped off the earth, and that being done in most spectacular ways. I kept on reading in the hope that she would find herself in a situation which made her question what she was doing. but unfortunately, despite the clever ending, that never happened. My feelings are about content and not style. Many will certainly enjoy this. I am not among their number.

The cover got me and the premise had me hooked.....and Damn!💀😆🔥 What was inside was worth it.
It was witty and charming in a dark, morbid and indignated sort of way. Kind of like someone saying "I just wanted to torture one person in peace, is that really so much to ask?!" 🤓🤡

I had a lot of fun reading this. My only complaint is that it wasn't as dark as I was expecting it to be.
A Very enjoyable experience though. ✨

Quotes : (The last one is my fav)

It was like spotting a mascot on the street. It’s usually a Marvel superhero like Spiderman, and you could see that the underpaid employee working part-time, trying to cheer up passersby, fit in the costume about as well as my ex in an XXL condom.

I grabbed the pen and yanked it out of his neck, causing a spurt of blood to come out in a gush. Robert coughed, the look of power completely gone from his face, and it made me feel so good. I’m ashamed to say that it even turned me on a little to see him display such a pathetic facial expression.

I didn’t even care about him torturing animals anymore. I just wanted him dead so he could shut the hell up.

Usually, I tried to kill the criminal the way their victims suffered. For example, there was an ex-convict who raped a young girl and then choked her to death, so I made it a point to use a long stick with splinters, and… well, you get the point. Anyway, I strangled him with a garrote wire in front of a mirror so he could see his own scared expression while his vision darkened.

I wanted to throw stuff and scream. How could they be so stupid and not see that this was a copycat killer? The Portland Executioner was a doer of good, not evil! I would never kill a pregnant woman unless she did something really bad!

The son of a bitch was trying to kill me even though I didn’t do anything wrong!
I mean, I was going to kill him, sure, but that’s not the point. The point is, you can’t go trigger-happy because you see a masked figure approaching you from behind at night when you’re standing alone in your driveway.

Feel Free To Scream is the latest novel by one my most favorite authors Boris Bacic. It's an action-packed, page-turning that features dark secrets, plot twists and compelling characters is an incredible book. Boris Bacic is perhaps one of the most gifted story tellers that I have had the opportunity to read. He is able to weave a story like an artist, weaves a tapestry. Each intricate line is carefully gathered and stitched into the story. As the pattern develops you begin to see the design, but he leaves a few strings unpulled as he goes, but he hints at what the picture on the tapestry will be. As a reader you are sure you know what that pattern will be but then Boris adds a new thread and you know the picture you had formed was wrong. By the end of the novel Bacic has pulled all the threads together and you as the reader will know how the story was developed. I have to tell you that I was absolutely captivated. This book drew me in from the very first page and I admit I had a very difficult time putting it down. I can not recommend a book and author more highly. I intend to read more novels by this author, I received this novel from the author. This is my true and honest review.

I skipped a lot

Long on inner monologue, short on story. Reminded me a bit of American Psycho but without the charm. I didn't like anyone enough to care.

I had this book on my tbr for quite some time now, so I finally got around to read it.

The story follows a woman who, after experiencing the flaws of the justice system firsthand, decides to take matters into her own hands and clear the streets of criminals herself. I was excited to read this book because I've read another one of the author's books before, and i really liked it, and honestly this didn't disappoint either.

The book was a pleasant surprise, and it made me root for a killer. The main character's motivations were clear and understandable, and I found myself sympathizing with her even as she committed heinous acts. I thought the plot twists were well done too, especially because there was one point where I thought I had figured out what was going on, but then within two pages, everything changed. It kept me on the edge of my seat and made me want to keep reading.

The writing was also very good. It was easy to get through, and the author didn't waste time on overly descriptive passages or anything that would slow down the pace of the story. However, the writing was still descriptive enough that it sucked me right into the story. I read the book in just two days (and it got me out of a reading slump), which is proof of how interesting it was.

Overall, I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes books with unhinged characters and aren't afraid to read about murder. It was a great read, and I'm already eyeing which of the author's books to read next.

11.18.23:
IF you are a horror fan, thriller fan, you like revenge stories, STRONG FMCs, can handle some gore AND have no triggers, I ALREADY recommend this.... I'm not even 50% yet and this is a new author but i am totally invested....
11.22.23:
This book was awesome, held my attention from the start. i love being inside the mind of a strong FMC on the path of revenge with no regrets or intentions of backing off. It's entertaining. This kind of reminds me of the Mindfuck Series!

Hidden Gem

I got this book a while ago, and it sat on my Kindle! Something made me decide to open it up today. It was actually quite a good book! I really enjoyed listening to the narrators internal monologue! At times it was absolutely hilarious! If you’re looking for a quick entertaining, read, this is it.

I enjoyed the fear in their eyes as the last thing they saw in this twisted world was the face of their executioner. But after every kill, I felt sort of empty, like waiting for a dessert that never came. I didn’t know what it was that my kills were missing, but I was determined to continue experimenting until I found it.

How many times in life do you sit craving justice for something that was simply handled wrongly? When people seemingly get away with murder with no consequences while the victims has to lay and mourn the grief? For one sister, she would take the revenge for her younger sister Summer and avenge her following a horrifically traumatizing ordeal. When Summer's first boyfriend Robert took the abusive nature a step further and raped her, what should of been a simple conversation led to him slaughtered on the floor on his filthy living room. Yet even in death that didn't seem to quench the vengeance coursing through her veins which is how the identity of the Portland Executioner would fade into view. Taking the stride to be the vigilante of the night through murdering the cities worst, she would fulfill something so much bigger than herself. Yet it would take her sister Summer getting a new boyfriend named Malik, that the run around of healing would seem to be reflected. Yet her sister in turn shocked everyone by murdering the sexual predator of her own boyfriend. As together they murder the lead Detective of their case they see in the selves they started a movement of justice.

It’s always like that, isn’t it? No matter what happens in the world, there are people who support the other side no matter how obviously wrong it is.

I had to bite my lip to curb the exuberance it made soar within me.

I do love the cover. 🤩

What happens when a seemingly-normal socio embraces her inner, righteous psycho?

Nameless Narrative Main Character (what is up with this shit? you write a whole ass book with one POV character, and can’t even give the chick a fucking name? gahhhhhhhhhhhhh) is in her late twenties. A director of recruiting for a large corporation, NNMC lives with her younger sister Summer, 23, in Portland, Oregon.

After Summer breaks up with boyfriend Robert, the man rapes her. Months after the trial and subsequent acquittal, NNMC confronts Robert and ends up taking matters into her own hands.

Then Bella, the beloved family pitfall, is murdered…and, well…her vigilante justice begins.

Boris seems unable to resist even the slightest urge to get political. It’s like, Hmmmmm, the Sun rose today. Let’s go negative on all the people who don’t agree with me and who I also perceive to be out to get me. This is exacerbated by the flippant thoughts of NNMC. Are we really supposed to care about this callous, unnamed murderess?

The story dries up around 40%. It grows too detached in its narrative. And also veers into a weakness for this author—trying, and failing, to write women organically.

The writer does bring it home in the end; the last 20% is strong and the last 11% is close to stellar.

But why not give her a damn name?

They should have offered me a medal of honor for risking my life to keep the streets safe, and instead, they were labeling me as a criminal.

Feel Free to Scream - 5/5
By Boris Bacic

“THE ACCIDENTAL MURDER OF ROBERT THE RAPIST TURNED MY LIFE AROUND AND RETURNED THE SPARK FOR JUSTICE THAT I USED TO HAVE.”

This book was brilliant. I love a good eye for an eye revenge story - and when a woman is the main character, I love it even more.

I genuinely thought I had the twist, but I only realised the twist about three lines before the twist was revealed.

This was an excellent book about revenge and was brutally graphic. I think possibly my new third favourite book by this author!

Another great story by Boris! He’s become my favorite all-time writer. What I truly liked about this book other than the story itself are two things. The mentioning of a pitbull (which I own one as well), as being a wonderful, friendly, loving dog. My pit Rufus is the best dog I ever had, much like the pit Bella in the story. Also, he mentions a You Tube channel called Unit 522 and I immediately went to it and I am in love with it! Another great find, much like the way I feel about Boris Bacic.

what started out as a drive to clear my head ended up changing my entire life

The cover drew me in but who am I kidding? I love Boris Bacic and was going to read it no matter what. His stories are always compelling with a twist you don't see coming, and this was no different. The story flows effortlessly but I found myself wanting more. More focus on the killings and gore aspect and less on the main characters inner monologue. I saw some other reviews mention Dexter or American Psycho and I can't help but agree with those sentiments.

I plunged into this with so much hope. A long monologue, mostly unnecessary space fillers, is what this book is about. What suspense? I was hoping to read excruciating details of the torture, the killing, the evidence-burying, the chase - something unique that hasn't been written too many times before - not much of that is in here. The last two chapters are so predictable and cheesy. The story so unreal, with a tinge of YA flavor.

An extremely easy, boring read.

Wow! I really wasn't sure whether this would be my cup of tea. But as it's from one of my absolute favourite authors, I thought I'd definitely give it a go.

It was a cracking book. I loved the characters. In fact I noticed I was holding my breath at times, waiting to find out what would happen.

Absolutely a must to add to your reading list!

Brilliantly entertaining, with non-stop action and even a few surprising little twists. No supernatural elements or major torture scenes, so I am tempted to categorise it as thriller rather than horror, but deeply enjoyable all the same. The narrator's voice is delightful and even amusing at times.

A pretty standard revenge story here which evolves into a sort of Dexter-like plot. The twist near the end was interesting enough, but over all, not anything that new. I will say that Bacic’s writing continues to improve. I don’t believe I noted a single accidental tense change.

A twisted thriller

A quick read! Summer suffered from an incident any the hands of her ex boyfriend and her sister wouldn't let him live it down. One thing turned to another, but her intentions were good. I thought I had the twist figured out, but I was wrong!

Really enjoying Boris Bacic’s writing! What started as a woman confronting her sister’s rapist turned into a story of a bloodthirsty vigilante thirsting for justice. That ending was so unexpected, I had one idea of where it was going, and then BOOM totally different ending.
