London Smith had her heart broken by someone she vowed to be with for life. Five years later, she’s still reeling from the unimaginable hurt she faced. Will she be able to forgive her ex-husband, or will she continue to live life unhealed?
Zimire Harrington has some work to do if he wants the wife back that he left behind, but he doesn’t know the curveballs in his way. Will Zimire be able to seek forgiveness from his ex-wife, or will he find the past is hard to repair?
I really struggled to finish this book. The storyline was all over the place and didn’t make sense. I get introducing Morgan and Caire. They’re the sister and cousin of the main characters and they’ve just started dating. What I didn’t get was, the introduction of all their unnecessary drama. Morgan loses custody of AJ to her ex with absolutely no backstory on the ex then, she just disappears?!!! I understand the author introducing these characters because, they’re going to have their own book but, you should’ve just left it at them getting together as a couple. All their drama with no resolution could’ve been left out because, now, the storyline feels incomplete. And, I just didn’t get Zimire’s reason for leaving London. That made absolutely no sense at all. You ghost your wife for four months and divorce her because you lost all of your money in a ponzi scheme?!!! Then, you join the army?!!! Who the hell joins the arm to get rich?!!! I’ve heard countless stories about people struggling while working in any branch of the military and most of them are just as broke when they come home. So, I’m not understanding how Zimire supposedly made all this money when he was only in the army for two years. London givin’ up the coochie to Zimire after seeing him for the first time in five years just annoyed me. Like, damn! This man broke your heart and you’re just handing him your goodies on a platter within five minutes of seeing him?!!! At least give him two weeks to work for it. That’s another confusing factor in this book. I thought London day dreamed them having sex in the truck but, Zimire told Oshae and Caire they actually had sex. I’m all kinds of confused on that. And, can we get the room numbers right?!!! London told Zimire to meet her in room 321 but, he shows up to room 312. Note to author, your readers pay attention. So should you. Let Me Get Next To You didn’t come together very well. The fluidity (or lack thereof) of the storyline was disorganized and all over the place. This was my first book by Queen Keishii and it’ll probably be my last.
London and Zimire’s story was a whirlwind of a second chance. Once the two got over their hurt and pain from their first marriage and divorce with the knowledge that they were still hopelessly in love. There was no stopping getting back together and righting that wrong.
I liked the overall storyline of this book. I loved that there was minimal drama and that once the couple decided to work things out, it was up from there. I was a bit confused with the sex scene in the truck being a dream but then in the next chapter, they talked about it as if it really happened. Also, the sister's story was a bit random and out of place but I will definitely read her story to learn more.
I enjoyed Zimire and London because their love ❤️ was sooo easy!! No 🎭 drama, just a little indecisiveness🤷🏽♀️. However, They reunited and it was so easy, so full of love and good, 🥵 hot, steam seggs🔥💦!!! I would love to see what’s up with Morgan. She has a story to tell. Great job Queen, looking forward to whatever is next👍🏽👏🏽
This was sweet love story and a quick, enjoyable read. Glad London and her ex were sble to find their way back to one another after all those years. The only thing I didn't like was there was a lack of some key elements to the story. For example, how does Morgan end up with accusations of child abuse do severe that she loses custody of her child with no visitation?! Then she just disappears. I need more. Maybe she can have her own story.
I really wanted to love this story. It was difficult to keep up with the timeline. 10 months, divorce, 5 years apart. In like one month we’re back to being married.
I was hoping that Zamire was going to apologize. Like really apologize. He crushed London and placed her into a cycle of grief that for me was unforgivable. I get that London still loved him after all the time passed. I just wanted him to have to face the hurt he caused her. The apology I got. I wanted to fight he didn’t apologize for it all there was no questions or conversations on page. I needed it. I needed more of his story of where he was and what he was doing. We got a bit of what caused him to run. A sentence about where he was but nothing outside of one scene of him leaving. I think it would have been better if there was a chapter or two of them reflecting on the time apart from both of their prospectives. Did we go to therapy, meditate, journal anything. I liked that she kinda got a lick back(lol) but not really. I was rooting for Carie and Morgan but where it ended up I was confused and very frustrated. I guess Their book will give perspective. I also didn’t realize that this book was taking place during the pandemic until their honeymoon. There was no mention of any of this even though 3 of the characters worked in the hospital. I have so many questions and thoughts I don’t want to give spoilers. This is my second book by Queen Keshia.
Please be more thoughtful in the writing of your stories. They have the potential to be fantastic.
This was a nice little story. The author accomplished what she set out to do as explained in the afterword... little drama with the pain still present.
My mind rejected the quick resolution for Zimire and London but it was well written and made sense given the objective. I'm very interested in Morgan and Caire's story. I hope it will fill in some of the blanks left here.
This was my first read for Queen Keishii and I will be back.
Hmmm 🤔? ….”Let Me Get Next to You”: The Moods of Love” was second chance romance, rekindled passions and relatively drama free read, especially if you’re a hopeless romantic. Thereafter, I enjoyed Zimire & London’s story of forgiveness to enable them to find love again. However, in the midst of London & Zimire’s journey I was frequently confused whether they (him or her) was reminiscing about an actual recent encounter, a prior event, daydreaming or just wishful desires never man. Otherwise, this book was a good read as a second chance at romance, love, wife, family & life.
Well written and drama free novella as the author described. We don’t always get the full story behind the hurt in a novella so Zimire’s reasoning for leaving has me side eyeing him a bit and what follows so quickly and effortless like after 5 years is cute and sweet but I imagine if this was a full length book it may have been different. At any rate, the author has me interested in the next set of characters that brought the brief drama to this book (Morgan and Caire).
This short, second chance romance had a pretty good storyline, but I was confused initially, because I wasn’t sure if the sex between London and Dimire was real or a dream. This was the first book that I’ve read by this author and I would probably read more, especially since I would love to find out what happens with Caire and Morgan. London and Dimire got back together after five years and it appeared that they never stopped loving each other. The book really left a lot of questions for me as well.
Wow they both went through a lot I know how she felt to experience three miscarriages and deliver my son only to lose two days later so understand the pain... And she went through it alone because she never even told her sister.
He thought he was doing the right thing with leaving only to realize he should have stayed went to the Army 🪖 But could have never known about there baby..
Second chance to get it right now they have a son and another one on the way.
I recommend this collection amazing so far no complaints
Queen Keishii, I loved London and Zimire's story. To have communication in a relationship is such an important thing. Zimire, could have saved a lot of confusion but pride is such a hard thing to let go of. The love he has for London had him thinking he was doing the right thing. London thought he life would never be the same the universe had other plans. London and Zimire. I loved seeing how the past was forgiving and love won over all.🤗🤗🤗🤗
Zimire and London are back in each others life after 5 years. No communication has led to hurt feelings and anger. Once Zimire is able to explain his absence, they are able to start again. Will they be able to have a second chance? Has time healed their wounds? One-click and find out.
I love 2nd chance stories. I really like London and Zimire’s love story. Chance put them back in each space after 5 years apart. Zimire was really about action, letting London know that she still had his heart. This was well written and full of emotion. Now …we need London’s sister story! I can’t wait.
Issa things are better the second time around #mood
Zimere ghosted his wife and filed for divorce. 5 years later London is still carrying the hate around. A chance encounter gives them time to communicate and get past the hurt. It was definitely better the second time around. Definitely waiting on Morgan's story.
I like the storyline, the way the characters interacted and reacted as normal hurt individuals. Hurt people, hurt people but second chances can provide the forgiveness sought when permitted. I'd recommend this book, most definitely to hurt lovers.
As much of a gripe that London wanted to hold on to... she couldn't. Zimire knew the type of soul ties they created and given the chance he could rope her back in... you never know how ppl feel when they are financially stable and lack communication skills. Good thing the absence came to a end and true love prevailed.
It was a good read but some things were just not adding up. I understood the concept and I was happy for the second chance at real love. With a few tweaks it could be great!
It was cute read...it was extremely fast paced but no enough where the storyline was lost. I'm happy for Zimire and London there's nothing like a second chance at love....what happened to Morgan? And I need more of her and Caire? What's next?
It's a beautiful thing when you can reconcile and fix a marriage. I love books with little to no drama and this one was perfect. I loved the pace and details, this is my first read from this author and now I'm ready to read more, can't wait for Morgan's story, great read!
Good Read I loved the way Zimmerman loved Morgan. But what was the point in being Morgan and Claire relationship into the storyline then leaving it incomplete? Towards the end I felt there story overshadowed the main characters.
Even though he didn’t communicate what was really going on with him and his finances he was wrong for leaving her. Glad they found their way back to each other
