When Judas Lassiter saw a suspicious stranger dart into the town bank, he knew trouble had arrived in Two Forks, Arizona. But before he could make a move, the guy emerged with a bag of loot in one hand and a gun in the other--pointed directly at hostage Ashley Spencer. And Judas had no choice but to watch the woman get kidnapped.
Ashley thanked her lucky stars when Judas Lassiter rescued her in the middle of the desert, but then she was put into protective custody--in Judas's house. And though his strong arms and deputy's badge made her feel safe, she soon found herself more scared of him than of the man who would be coming back to silence her....
Interestingly enough this book didn't end like I expected it too. Yes happy ending but the story was actually really sweet. The heroine is a survivor of abuse which I thought was a unusual twist on a typical story. I think that author dealt with the issue respectfully. this has become a favorite for me. I think that the retelling of the abuse could be triggering for some people. I love that she is a heroine that can take care of her self. She doesn't wait to be saved which is a refreshing change from most novels.
