A twelve year old Cold Case have supervisor Phillipa Stevenson and her ex Detective Kyle Rossi going in circles. Can they leave the pass behind? I did not see the ending. This book had characters you want to hug, and other you want to just slap. Add the precious children, mixed with unrequited love you have a page turner.
This was so good! I could not put it down! I loved the characters who were very realistic and the suspense really kept me turning the pages! The message of forgiveness was very evident throughout the story. If you are a fan of cold case mysteries with great characters and an inspirational message, you will love Cold Case Deceit!
When I picked this up I was really excited. I have read other books by this author and really enjoyed them. This one was a little disappointing, it was more about her and her failed relationship. Not enough about the Cold Case. Every page was about her and Kyle. Why did she rush to marry Gary after Kyle called off their engagement, and Kyle also why didn't I go after her when she left Charlotte. They did solve the case and gave Jon some closure.
I was right there with my police badge and uniform! This story is complex and I realized that my detective skills need some polishing. This was a great “Who done it” with no leads. By the time the case was solved, I had to get out a tablet and record who had done what to who. A deep and complex case to be solved by two officers that had been engaged to each other. The author kept the suspense and didn’t reveal who the suspects were -we knew as the detectives knew.
Interesting, suspenseful, and a lot of people to keep up with! A lot of drama and a lot of surprises. Phillipa and Kyle tried to deny their love, however, their attraction, their memories and deep feelings won in this Cold Case of love struggle.
After her divorce, Detective Phillipa Stevens returns to her home town with her daughter and ends up working with her ex, Kyle Rossi. Although on the surface, she claims to have forgiven him for postponing their wedding all those years ago, there seem to be some current animosity still between them. But it does get pushed aside when they are determined to re open the cold case of Kyle's sister in law, Helen, who's murder never got solved. As they work together to piece the puzzle together, they are thrown into a mystery of hidden secrets and lies. They also try to fight their budding feelings for each other.
This was such a page turner. by the time I got to the end, I was completely flabbergasted. I was not expecting that ending. I also loved how as they healed, they took it slow and didn't rush back into a relationship, although they've known each other for years. This was such an enjoyable second chance romance.
Philipa Stevenson has returned to her hometown of Charlotte, NC to head up the Cold Case Unit. Unbeknownst to her, hey ex-fiance, Kyle is also a part of the unit. Together, they are working to find the person responsible for killing Kyle's sister-in-law, Helena. What she didn't expect, was for old feelings to resurface.
The overall message in this book is forgiveness. Encouraged by all who knew and loved her, Phillipa had to search deep within her heart and learn how you forgive. It also forced her to take a good look at herself, and see how her hasty actions played a major role.
I enjoyed this book by @jacquelin.thomas, and had my suspicions of who was involved in Helena's murder. Watch out for those with hidden agendas. My favorite character was Kyle. He set his sights on what he wanted and didn't stop until he got. His demeanor was inviting and soothing…no matter the circumstances. My least favorite character was Tara. She was a borderline stalker to Jon and his family, and all she did was turn them off. It's a shame that her goddaughters have to suffer, now. Overall, I loved the storyline and the supporting characters (Raya, Amelie, the twins) added flavor.
