Fia finally achieved her dream of becoming a knight, and was even assigned to the prestigious First Knight Brigade! But her unusual feats of strength and magic are already attracting unwanted attention. Keeping her saint powers a secret is proving harder than expected. Now, a black dragon has been sighted in Starfall Forest, and Fia is sent on a mission to find it...but does this black dragon have anything to do with her familiar, Zavilia?
This was a genuinely funny book in places, and I thoroughly enjoyed the first half—the story arc part. The remainder of the book was filled with alternative takes on the main events by the other parties involved and slice-of-life moments in Fia’s life. Although I found the story half thin, I did enjoy most of the short stories.
One recurrent theme in this series is Drunk Fia. I suppose she’s supposed to be cute while plastered, but I have a problem with excessive drinking. You could blame my religion, but honestly, a drunk driver killed my brother, so I just don’t find scenes of drunken revelry entertaining. Too much baggage on my part. I know. Even after all these years.
Fortunately, Drunk Fia didn’t represent much of the main story at all, so she was easily ignored, but those scenes took away a star for me. Otherwise, it would have been an inspirational read because the author has such excellent comedic timing.
One of the side stories that I found very insightful to the canon of the series was the one centered on the dragon familiar. By giving the readers his backstory, the author helped us understand how and why FIA is so important to him. This side story, like the majority of them, didn’t feel like filler but instead gave depth to the story. I’m looking forward to volume three. Hopefully, they’ll hit the sauce a lot less, but it’s not likely.
This is such a ridiculous series. I love how silly it is. The main character is a big-hearted spacecase. Her .. animal companion allows . I liked the writing style of this light novel, it flowed more storywise than a bunch of the others I have read. The shennanigans in this book, reminds me of Ouran Host Club. That being said, this is a pure, delighted, joy read, less of something that is amazing fantasy with new tropes.
Why do they both have tragic backstories!? I wanted to cry for Zav during their chapter because (my goodness) they needed a hug.
Anyway, I feel like we didn’t have any story progression. This book would’ve been better off at the end of the first volume because it was mainly side stories rather than actual plot…. We did learn about Zav’s history which helped me to understand why he decided on his course of action; however, I wanted more from Fia.
In the end, Fia’s chaos is what keeps me interested in the story, but we barely had that this book. I understand that it takes a lot to write a book, but I truly believe that having a longer volume one would’ve been a better idea. The plot would’ve felt complete rather than ending abruptly to showcase some side stories… that’s just my opinion.
When the next book comes out in English, I’ll probably have to read these two again.
Not really fond of how this one ended with her familiar having to leave to get stronger, but I understand the reasoning. Didn't finish this one now, it was hanging out on my eReader app as "read", so decided to prune my "currently reading" list a tad. I think I kept it on here so I wouldn't forget I had the next book I needed to read, but it wasn't working, so review and on to the next when I get around to it. I'm starting to burn out on manga/manhwa/light novels, so I will not push myself and just read the next when I get to it.
That's not saying this isn't a good book/series, just that I am over-inundating myself with them. It's been two years of almost just one genre, so I need to switch it up a bit.
4, I will be continuing with this series, but not right now, stars.

I feel that this second volume shows just how much this fantasy-isekai (reincarnated in another world) novel series, has no main plot or secondary plot arcs. It's just adventures without cohesion and purpose. So now most characters know that Fai Ruud is a powerful healer and have a Black Dragon as a familiar. This is the future should cause the past that she had in her previous life (abducted, tortured, abused, etc. etc. etc.) it seems this story was an adaptation of a web novel. So far in Japanese (original language) there are six volumes and by the end of 2022, there should be 4 volumes published. But because novel series is really not going anywhere...
Hilarious and sweet. I like the side stories and changing POV. The plot doesn’t advance that much in this volume, but it’s still hard to put down. A type of book you can enjoy reading multiple times. I’m hoping that the demons will make a comeback soon as the story is in need of better, more vicious and sadistic villains who threaten the main characters. Hopefully the Demon who raped and killed Fae in her previous life is still around and seeks to kill her and all humanity.
Very lighthearted for most of the book. It was definitely interesting reading about Zevalia’s history and a lot more tragic than I was expecting. I enjoyed that bit. I think I find myself enjoying this story when it really centers on the characters and they actually develop. The little silly side stories and goofy adventures are fun, but it’s really not what I’m looking for. Don’t know if I’ll continue this series, honestly
I love the story and jumped to purchase it as soon as it was available, but 5 chapters? Really?
I will continue reading when a new volume is released, so am only frustrated at the quantity, not the quality, that is my reason for 3 stars. Would be close to 5 if not for the lack of progress.
Ridiculously hilarious, just like the first book. I enjoy that Fia and the captains can be such airheads, it's like reading a long-form gag 4koma (although I wish it's not so stingy with plot progression).
The author makes no attempt to make his MC serious. Just how much miss understanding and confusion can be caused to the other characters. Very easy reading and he threw in some short stories to add to the pile of confusion.
OMMFG I'm in love/ obsessed with this series!! Fia is an absolute hoot, and you never know what chaos she is unwittingly about to release. 😈 😂😂😂😂😈 I cannot wait for the next book to come out!!
Every time Zavriel talks, it's blocked out in the text. This was VERY frustrating as you only got half the conversation and couldn't always make out what was happening.
This is, in my opinion, a very good story. It is absolutely ruined by the sheer amount of filler, however. At least a third of it is just side stories from other perspectives that do little to nothing for the plot.
Such. Bad. Writing. I really want to love this series, but unfortunately the amateur style of writing is impossible to ignore. For some reason half the book seems to be side stories.
Fia is an idiot, surrounded by people that are…also sometimes idiots. Her secret isn’t much of a secret given how she tosses around her powers like they’re nothing. There’s a point where the captains are talking about how luckily Fia is so kind, otherwise her dragon familiar would have killed anyone who upset her. Uh, it’s mostly not kindness, it’s that she’s often too oblivious or dumb to even know she’s being bullied or harassed.
If she looks EXACTLY like her former self, how is she not recognized by every person who has seen the very prominently placed painting of the great saint?

The side stories were especially good! I actually like the writing in the side stories more than the main story. Fia's an okay character to me, but the real meat of the story is how everybody else sees her. Touya just seems a lot better at writing in first-person pov for everyone except Fia. Also I think it's so weird when the humor is based on romantic/sexual misunderstandings with grown men and 15 year old Fia:/ just gives me the ick!
I still find her a bit too stupid sometimes, and it looks like a reverse harem although she’s not into any of them, but it’s still a great story. I love her brilliance when it comes to battling monsters.
3.5 It was a fun read, fia is as silly as ever but also kinda starting to worry me... also i cant wait 4 da moment when she finally tells someone that shes a saint
