Things have only been looking up for me since I found the hole in my backyard that led to a secret, underground world.
Now, I have my own property, a lot of loot that I’ve converted into cash, and two beautiful women to come home to every day.
But one of my neighbors seems to have a problem with me, and there’s still the issue of my wife Ibseth’s crazy half-brother that keeps getting crazier.
Seems I have my work cut out for me both on my cul-de-sac and in the deep dungeon in my backyard.
Logan Jacobs makes no apologies for writing semi-erotic books for men who like women. I don't really mind that, much, but it does limit my recommendation. Otherwise, I'd consider 4 stars. This is short, for a novel, and a quick read. A few proofreading errors. For instance, he describes using a bow, but calls it a crossbow. He frequently contradicts himself. How does one lean restlessly against a tree? But the storytelling is compelling, the whole idea behind the plot is fascinating and intriguing, and it's really just a fun, light book to read.
Somehow in this book Eddie became a master of melee combat, able to defeat those with years of training. No real reason is given beyond 'I practiced with my wife.' Additional: When your lawyer says that he has the papers that make your wives legal you get them right away. You also have your lawyer set up yourself as an employee of your fake company so you have a good reason to have money, your wives as well. Also stop spending money like water, you know, like your lawyer said. Tom out
This third part continues a pretty interesting and original (at least in a genre littered with tropes) haremlit fantasy series about a guy with a trapdoor to a private underground fantasy world in his backyard. Inevitably in these long series (17 parts so far!) the amount of new material being introduced slows down, and the action with it. Clearly here the author also aims to supply ample amounts of slice of life material, and there is a fine line between slice of life and plain boring. Miraculously in this 3rd part the author, in between satisfying adventures in the fantasy realm, manages to keep us up to date in detail on Eddie's efforts to buy a house and his conflict with bully neighbour Brock, and still not cross the line into boredom. Partly because of how likeable the main character and his support cast are (and I also liked the voicing of the audiobook). Curiously the parts I found most boring were the sex scenes which don't seem to add much to the story and follow standard haremlit patterns a bit too closely (yes, there's mewling, in my opinion always a sign of lazy writing), but in general I liked the mix of adventure and more down to earth (or should I say up at the surface?) activities, and I also liked that Jacobs expands Eddie's group of women slowly, taking time for some romance (apparently killing elves together can be very romantic). A relaxed but likeable slow-building fantasy listen so far.
Another fun book from Logan Jacobs. We get to follow more of the exploits of Eddie and Amrila. They get to add Scourge, Nileme and Bhakoth to the hunting party and have a chance to see what Ursenger is trying to accomplish. The book is a nice blend of action and adventure. The group dynamic is interesting and I have really become a fan of Bhakoth and what he has added to the dynamic. We also get more introduction to the Dolrath princess Nileme and you feel that is only a matter of time before she becomes the next member of Eddie’s family. This is a fun addition to the backyard dungeon saga and I look forward to the next one. What does the Gloom have to show us next time. We will see if Eddie finally gets his shot to take done Ursenger. What will happen in BY4?
This was another great read from cover to cover. Eddie and his wives are making a new life for themselves and Eddie gets the opportunity to purchase the neighbors house next door. Another crazy neighbors son gets caught in his backyard, just after he and a wife had just finished a love making session, and Eddie gives him a black eye while the police want to just arrest him. Eddie and his demon wife return to The Gloom, name of the underworld, to search for the Evil Elf and his wrong doings....
I have enjoyed many books over the years but only a few series have captured my interest so completely. All if the character development is consistently good. The neighbors.as well as all of the underground people. Hope book 4 comes out soon. A bigger house will be needed with another potential wife and sooner or later some small people.
It is a wonderful thing to read a book that is so well edited and written. I absolutely love this series and can't wait for the next release.
The story line is fantastic, the characters are so likable and the villan is detestable. There are no dry spots in the story, no over explained plots, and every moment spent reading this work is spent lost in the unfolding events that roll from the pages. A very worthwhile read.
These books are awesome and brilliant! Characters are unique, fun and exciting as always!
And with troubles brewing both on the surface with a bully neighbour, and in the Gloom with Eddie mission to find evidence against Ursenger, it's definitely full of fun and thrills!
I haven’t read a series in a long while that has kept me glued to each word to see what will happen next in a long time. This series is surprisingly addictive with its compelling characters and story elements of modern world mixed with a hidden fantasy world. I just can’t get enough of this and just want to know what’s going to happen next!
As I have found it would be a rare thing for this author to release a terrible book!!! Know way will you be disappointed by this series!!! Dynamic characters, in an enjoyable world!! No over powered MC, incredible adventures, realistic adventures and first rate adult fantasy activities!!!
Some plot development?, some character progression. Foes lethal and mundane to counter. There were a few parts I could nitpick, but overall, I enjoyed it. I must have put down book 2 for some reason, I did have to go back and reread but it grabbed me enough overall to keep reading more if Jacobs makes more.
I really enjoying this series. The author is taking his time with this one and I couldn't be happier. The story, characters, and world are coming together beautifully. I can't wait for the next one.
This was yet another incredible addition to this amazing story! The depth of the world and actions of its characters make for a compelling story! I eagerly await the next one!
Okay, it's time to start the killing in the Underdark. Our MC is doing everything right when it comes to dealing with his ass of a neighbor, or his enemy in the Underdark
I so I quite enjoyed reading the book. It gave me some of insights and the people of THE GLOOM . I won't reveal any spoilers other than though. Can wait to read the next one.
More surprises and action in the storyline. And a new villian, old villian getting stronger and new facts emerging from the world under our feet. Can't wait for book 4
Great book, moves along at a good rate and keeps your attention. It’s hard not to finish in one setting, the book is so enthralling. Just the right mix of plot and sexy story.
I really hope this series continues it’s absolutely amazing it’s such an original idea and I love the brakes in between going to the gloom and the girls experiencing the outside world
Just finished reading the first 3 Backyard Dungeon books. Greatly enjoyed the books and Eddies adventures. Looking forward to Eddies next adventure. So Logan thank you and time to get hot on book 4 Oh Great One!
I enjoyed the story. I am equally interested I the above ground issues as I am the the Gloom. The pace was excellent and the shenanigans were plentiful.
A solid continuation of the series. Well written characters lead us through twist and turns as they try to stay ahead of their detractors in both worlds. I recommend this for someone who is looking for a fun read.
Now on to Nileme. The action in this book just keeps getting better and better! These characters could very well be alive, as well as I can picture them in my imagination.
The intimate scenes were absolutely perfect. The adventures had me on edge. The feel of rage and emotions for this book sent me over the edge. This book was fantastic, but id really enjoy more of the life of the wives in tow.
This one seemed to be a good middle point book and the characters are much better now and progressing well. I like the fight scenes but also the parts where they are just doing stuff, it seems so ordinary but yet cool.
This book definitely helped remind me how large the gloom really is. I loved how you fall in love with more characters in this book and I am very excited to start the next one.
The story continues above and below ground. Our hero does have his struggles but it's a wonderful story and I look forward to reading many more books by Logan Jacobs. I love your style and talent, and I thank you for the books you have written.
I'm not sure what it is about this series, but its always a fun read. I was having trouble getting into anything lately yet this was almost 1 sitting read
