«Mañana hay luna llena. Tengo miedo del lobo»
Un granjero descubre los cuerpos de dos niños de once años en un campo de Suecia junto a una liebre muerta. En el diario de uno de ellos hay una anotación misteriosa:
Ocho años después, los cadáveres de otros dos pequeños son encontrados en un terreno cerca de Oslo.
El inspector Holger Munch, ascendido a jefe de una nueva unidad de investigación, acaba de contratar a la joven policía Mia Krüger, que ha deslumbrado a todos en la academia por su intuición.
En las fotos de la escena del crimen, Mia descubre un detalle que ha pasado desapercibido hasta ahora y que no augura nada bueno. Y entonces otros dos chicos desaparecen...
"El lobo" es una novela policíaca noruega bien escrita y con muy buen ritmo. Y es mi primera. Me gustó mucho la forma en que Samuel Bjørk construye su historia y maneja el lenguaje, narración y ritmo.
El lenguaje fluye con facilidad y confianza e inmediatamente me sentía atraído tanto por la historia como sus personajes.
Mia Krüger, me encanta.
Un libro que me absorbió durante unos días. Es una historia desagradable donde las personas muestran su peor cara y aquí afecta a los niños, pero Samuel logra transmitirlo de una manera diferente.
Y tiene la habilidad de describir todo el trabajo policial que se siente creíble, y el foco está en el equipo que investiga. Chapó.
"El lobo" tiene lugar antes que los otros libros del mismo autor. Es una precuela que se puede leer perfectamente ya que es años antes.
Aquí conocerás a Holger Munch y Mia Krüger cuando se conocen por primera vez y cuando el equipo está recién formado.
Los personajes están muy bien dibujados y sus vidas privadas son significativas. Ni considero que nada sobre en este libro.
El misterio está bien estructurado durante la mayor parte del libro, pero su fallo es que hacia el final avanza rápidamente y algunos hilos no se unen.
Por ejempo no entendí muy bien el motivo de los crímenes. Es como algo ahí incompleto. No sé si es cosa mía y me ha sucedido por las razones que sean pero si alguno de la banda lo lee que me diga.. es tan.. raro..
"El lobo" se presenta como la primera parte de una nueva trilogía. Mientras voy a por el resto que tiene. Merece la pena. Seguiré navegando por el thriller noruego..✍️

Tenía ganas de que me gustara este libro y aunque al principio logró atraparme, a medida que avanzaba la historia esta fue perdiendo fuerza, así como sus personajes.
Mia, es descrita como una joven con capacidades sorprendentes y no es así, no es más que otro personaje que analiza el caso sin llegar a descubrir absolutamente nada. Se queda en el intento y nada más.
El detective principal, tampoco tiene nada de sorprendente, lo único que destaco es que no tiene las características de todos los otros detectives de este tipo de género.
No encontré ningún giro en la historia que me pareciera realmente bueno, ni siquiera la resolución del caso.
En fin, un thriller más que se suma a la larga lista de de novelas del género que no aportan nada.

In 1993, in Fagerhult, Sweden, two boys are brutally murdered and arranged with the white hare between them. Despite an extensive investigation, the case is never solved. In Norway in 2001, a father and son are flying a kite when the son finds two bodies remarkably similarly posed to the Swedish murders. Oslo homicide detective Holger Munch assembles his team, which includes Police Academy trainee Mia Kruger full brought in for her outstanding incisive profiler abilities. The disparate but driven team work incredibly hard to try to solve this seemingly impossible case.
First of all, I love this series and this prequel can easily be read as a standalone before reading “I travel alone“. The cast of characters are fascinating especially Mia, whose insights often lead to progress. She has a lot of baggage but this just makes her more interesting. Munch is a workaholic which must try his wife’s patience and that of his boss with whom it’s fair to say he doesn’t see eye to eye. The rest of the team are all well fleshed out as lawyer Anette Goli smooth paths, sartorially elegant and bit of a ladies man, Fredrik Riis and not forgetting “Sporty Spice” Katja van den Burg who work diligently to try to catch a break.
The plot is complex and contains multiple layers, with mystery piling on mystery deepening the puzzle and eventually intertwining the various strands. It does feel a bit disjointed at times but via these threads you do often get a little nugget to piece together to eventually form the big picture. The team are really up against it here as suspect after suspect is ruled out.
The psychology/profiling part of the story is especially compelling. There’s plenty of tension, the pace builds and there are some good suspenseful chapter endings to keep you reading on. The atmosphere feels brooding and claustrophobic at times, especially in the deeply forested areas outside of Oslo, which adds to the intensity of the storytelling. The ending is a tad abrupt, but all the strands come together well.
Overall, this another good addition to the excellent series and I look forward to reading number five.

Una novela policíaca nórdica más que correcta. Después de "Viajo sola", es la que más me ha gustado de la serie.
Dice la sinopsis:
Un granjero descubre los cuerpos de dos niños de once años en un campo de Suecia junto a una liebre muerta. En el diario de uno de ellos hay una anotación misteriosa: «Mañana hay luna llena. Tengo miedo del lobo». Ocho años después, los cadáveres de otros dos pequeños son encontrados en un terreno cerca de Oslo. El inspector Holger Munch, recién ascendido a jefe de una nueva unidad de investigación, acaba de contratar a la joven policía Mia Krüger, que ha deslumbrado a todos en la academia por su intuición. En las fotos de la escena del crimen, Mia descubre un detalle que ha pasado desapercibido hasta ahora y que no augura nada bueno. Y entonces otros dos chicos desaparecen...
Mis impresiones.
Esta novela es la precuela de la serie protagonizada por Holger Munch y Mia Krüger, que comenzó con "Viajo sola". En ella vamos a conocer a una jovencísima Mia cuyas dotes llaman la atención de Munch, quien la incorpora a su recién creado equipo. Una Mia más similar a la que nos conquistó en "Viajo Sola", que a la que dejamos en "El niño en la nieve" la última entrega por ahora de la serie. Me ha gustado saber de su vida durante esos años, de sus padres, de su abuela y de su hermana Sigrid.
La trama está bien conseguida. La investigación es sólida con los típicos avances, retrocesos y callejones sin salida. En este caso el autor no ha abusado tanto de las casualidades como en "El búho" o en "El niño en la nieve". Bjork juega magistralmente al despiste con el lector. La intriga es constante, queremos respuestas y la atención se mantiene. El ritmo ayuda, para ser una novela de negra nórdica es bastante ágil.
Los personajes igualmente bien. Las vidas personales de cada uno están bien integradas en el conjunto. Tienen su importancia, añaden una nota de interés y no ralentizan la acción.
El final adecuado, a tono con la tensión generada y deja todo cerrado.
En conclusión. Un policial de uno de mis autores de negra nórdica preferidos. Trama interesante y una pareja protagonista carismática. Recomendable.

My first Bjork and a definite hit. Loved the plot, the slow build up, the characters, the twists. I only missed the explanation/background story of the murderer so as to understand how/why he chose the victims he chose, otherwise I would've definitely given it 5 stars. Very much looking forward to reading the rest of the series!

“El lobo” es la precuela de la trilogía protagonizada por Munch y Mía, y que comienza con “Viajo sola”. Hace tiempo que leí la trilogía y tenia ganas de volver a leer algo del autor, no pensé que sacaría una precuela, pero me ha sorprendido mucho.
Un thriller nórdico, que comienza en un suburbio de Oslo, donde dos niños de once años aparecen muertos, de una forma, bastante curiosa y con un zorro en medio de ambos. Uno de los chicos esta completamente desnudo, pero sin embargo el otro a medias. ¿Significa algo? Ademas hace 12 años ocurrió algo parecido, dos niños, un animal…
Munch reúne a su equipo para intentar resolver este caso, y como novedad, se les unirá la joven Mia Kruger, que tiene un potencial muy prometedor, en este libro, Munch y Mia se conocerán por primera vez.
Los personajes de esta novela están muy bien estructurados, adoro a Mia y su manera de meterse e implicarse en los casos, además sus vidas privadas son bastante significativas en esta historia. Algo que destaco en esta historia son los personajes, si en este libro se va una evolución de todos, cuando conoces ya su trilogía puedes compararlos.
No hace falta leer la trilogía, este es “posterior” no hay spoiler ni nada de nada, simplemente si ya la has leido vas con un poco de ventaja con los personajes.
El autor tiene una forma de escribir que engancha, un autor que mezcla descripciones y diálogos de una manera que no se hace pesado, muy agradable, y algo que no suele suceder en thriller es que es muy creíble, te presenta la investigación de una forma que parece que lo estas viviendo, con un ritmo que engancha, siempre con varias tramas abiertas hasta el mismo final que sin darte cuenta lo une todo y queda perfectamente hilado.
Siempre he recomendado sus tres libros anteriores y no puede ser menos que lo siga recomendado con este.

La historia está narrada en tercera persona y protagonizada principalmente por Mia y Holger, entre otros personajes que también componen la novela y forman parte de la historia.
La trama gira en torno a la investigación del equipo de policía de Holger y la nueva incorporación a este de Mia, una simple estudiante que todavía está en la academia. Entre la mente brillante de Mia y el equipo de Holger descubriremos qué ha pasado con estos dos niños que van apareciendo muertos de dos en dos.
El punto fuerte de esta novela y de la saga de Mia y Holger en general son los protagonistas, pero sobre todo es Mia. Tiene una personalidad tan diferente y extravagante que engancha muchísimo, sobre todo su inteligencia y su manera de trabajar en el equipo es lo que más me gusta. Su trama personal es tremendamente dura pero hace que entendamos porqué es como es.
El resto de policías que componen el equipo de Holger también son fantásticos y particulares a su manera, ya que tienen personalidades muy marcadas, incluido el propio Holger.
El caso a investigar y descubrir el asesino es bastante original y el autor lo lleva de una manera magistral. Los símbolos que hay en los cadáveres, la escena del crimen y todo lo que envuelve al caso me parecen una absoluta obra de arte. Esto es lo que más me gusta en las novelas policiacas, que sean retorcidos y difíciles de adivinar, y este caso lo es.
La pluma de Samuel es otro punto fuertísimo en sus novelas ya que lees 500 páginas sin darte cuenta ni ser consciente de ello. Su pluma hace que devores las palabras y que sin darte cuenta ya te hayas acabado el libro.
El ritmo es frenético y constante y eso también te mantiene enganchada a la novela. Constantemente hay giros en el caso y es otro punto muy importante para que la historia ni decaiga ni se resuelva todo en la última parte.
Recomiendo encarecidamente que leáis esta novela y podáis disfrutar de Mia y Holger y descubrir quién es el Lobo y porqué lo es.

Oh I'm so clever I'd worked out whodunit by halfway through. Oh no I hadn't.
This is one of those books that makes you think that the detectives might just be idiots and the truth is staring them in the face. So much so that you actually tell them. However you're wrong. As usual.
So this latest in the Munch and Kruger series follows the discovery of the bodies of two boys carefully posed in a field. The team discovers this is the second such discovery, the first being in Sweden eight years previously. The Swedish murders remain unsolved.

There are twists, turns and red herrings aplenty in this latest, gripping episode. Munch is his usual driven self while his team runs exasperatedly around in his wake. Mia is an interesting addition and her character is an intriguing one - full of intelligence but so new to the job that mistakes are made.
I have missed out the middle two books for some reason but I loved this as much as I loved I Always Travel Alone. Frode Oien writing as Samuel Bjork writes immensely readable, devour-in-one-sitting books that you simply can't put down.

This is one of those books that makes you think that the detectives might just be idiots and the truth is staring them in the face. So much so that you actually tell them. However you're wrong. As usual.
So this latest in the Munch and Kruger series follows the discovery of the bodies of two boys carefully posed in a field. The team discovers this is the second such discovery, the first being in Sweden eight years previously. The Swedish murders remain unsolved.

Hoewel ik het een interessant verhaal vind, vind ik het einde wat plotseling. Op een gegeven moment wordt het verhaal steeds spannender en zat ik echt op de ontknoping te wachten. Toen die kwam viel die tegen. Daarna volgt dan nog een deel als een soort afsluiter, maar dat voelt wat afgeraffeld. Toch vind ik het verhaal zelf verder wel leuk, omdat je nu te weten komt hoe Mia bij het team van Holger Munch komt. Ook is het leuk om te lezen hoe het team steeds achter andere verdachten aangaat. Ik heb getwijfeld tussen 3 en 4 sterren. Omdat 3,5 niet kan, heb ik het naar beneden afgerond, omdat ik nu ik het boek uit heb niet het gevoel heb van wow, dit is een heel bijzonder verhaal. Ik vind het ook jammer dat ik niet meer zoveel weet van de andere delen. Dit zijn blijkbaar geen boeken die mij op de lange termijn bijblijven.

I really enjoyed Samuel Bjork's previous three novels featuring Holger Munch & Mia Kruger & it was great to see their return, as there hasn't been a novel featuring them for six years.
The author admits he's been struggling for an idea for the next novel featuring Munch & Kruger, so he decided to write a prequel to the previous stories & what a great book it turned out to be.
Bjork's main characters are vividly drawn & even the minor ones are beautifully created. His plotting is meticulous, but never confusing despite there being many threads to it.
My only critisism of the novel is that it included one overused & pathetic crime novel/film/TV series cliche. Come on, Bjork, you're above this nonsense. I hope he avoids this sort of cliche in his next novel & I also hope that we don't have to wait another six years until it's published.

Het hele boek door wordt de spanning opgebouwd en ben je benieuwd naar de ontknopping. En dan ineens poef komt het einde uit de lucht vallen, afgeraffeld en laat je achter met veel vragen. Erg jammer, want daardoor voelde het niet bevredigend en heb ik een ster van mijn beoordeling afgehaald.
Ik moet er trouwens bij zeggen dat ik de oorspronkelijke series nog niet heb gelezen, maar dat ga ik nog wel doen.

Este é o início da colaboração entre Munch e Krüger. Ele já fuma como um turco, ela ainda não precisa de estar bêbeda para montar os quebra-cabeças.
A história até era interessante, mas é decepcionante quando acabamos o livro e continuamos sem saber os motivos que levaram o assassino a matar aqueles miúdos, nem porque coloca os corpos daquela maneira.

Bjørk weet zeker hoe hij een verhaal op moet bouwen: de intrigerende setting bevat veel onduidelijkheden en onzekerheden, verschillende verhaallijnen dragen bij aan het grotere geheel, ook al snap je nog niet direct hoe enkele personages exact in het verhaal passen, en hij zet je af en toe op het verkeerde been. De ontdekkingen en intuïtie van Mia geven het onderzoek een nieuwe vaart mee en de spanning wordt opgevoerd zodra zij unieke en slimme verbanden legt. De vlotte en beeldende schrijfstijl, afwisseling van perspectieven en de (voornamelijk) onderhuidse spanning zorgen ervoor dat je pagina na pagina blijft omslaan, en daarom is het jammer dat het slot voor een anticlimax zorgt. Mia čia dar labai jauna - pastebėta akademijoje, dar nebaigusi mokslų, ji pakviečiama prisijungti prie naujai suformuotos Munko komandos. Šioje dalyje, dar neišlindę Mios vidiniai demonai, bet jos keistumo netrūko. Ir nors autorius vis pabrėžia jaunosios policininkės unikalumą ir akylumą detalėms, jos charakteris, švelniai tariant...erzina. Keista ir byla, jos tyrimas ir jei atvirai, visa komanda. Vis dar kelia šypseną vietos, kai pareigūnai tiria bylą, laukia svarbių žinių iš laboratorijų, ar kitų specialistų, bet kolegai skambinat dešimtą kartą iš eilės, nekelia ragelio. Nes turbūt skambina tik šiaip, papliurpt apie gyvenimą 😀 Nes kam tos svarbios žinios, jei gali pas įtariamąjį varyt vienas ir tapt herojum? 🤷♀️

This was my first time reading any of Samuel Bjork's work and what a pleasant experience it turned out to be.
I have not read a huge number of books from the crime/thriller genres of late, so this was like a breath of fresh air. The pacing was of a fast nature which helped with the whole experience, rather than getting bogged down in minute detail like many novels of this type.
All of the characters were well drawn and felt like they were grounded in reality. The same can also be said for the story as a whole.
The only negative I can point out was a lack of detail and explanation regarding the killers background and motivations.
Overall I would recommend this to anyone who wants a slightly faster-paced crime novel.
I'll certainly be checking out the rest of this series over the next few months.

El equipo se enfrentará a un caso sumamente complicado que comparte un gran parecido con un asesinato que tuvo lugar en el país vecino en 1993 en el que no lograron dar con el culpable.
Nadie debe salir indemne de un asesinato, pero menos aún si las víctimas son niños…
¿Conoces la serie 'Holger Munch y Mia Krüger'? Si la respuesta es afirmativa es probable que sepas que esta novela es la precuela de la serie, si no has leído la serie, pero te llama la atención esta novela y no sabes en qué orden leerla, es fácil, empieza por esta y continua con la trilogía, así conocerás toda la historia de los personajes.
El libro comienza con una pequeña introducción sobre la vida de los miembros de la Unidad de Homicidios, por este motivo, el inicio tiene un ritmo bastante lento, pero, poco a poco, la trama de la investigación policial se impone haciendo que la novela se centre en ella y el resto pase a ser secundario. Si te gusta la novela policial pura y dura, es muy probable que este libro sea para ti.
Pero, aunque la investigación en sí me ha encantado considero que el punto fuerte de esta historia está en sus personajes. Aviso a navegantes, como buena novela nórdica está repleta de personajes con nombres un pelín raros, si tienes mala memoria te recomiendo que los apuntes. Tenemos un equipo de investigadores, con personalidades muy distintas y reales, que tienen una gran evolución a lo largo de la historia. El inspector Holger ha sido mi personaje favorito, el trato hacia su equipo es inmejorable, pero también quiero mencionar a Mia un personaje muy especial que me ha sorprendido mucho.
¿Es una lectura ligera? No sabría muy bien que deciros, respecto a la forma de escribir del autor, sí lo es, pero es un libro con unas cuantas subtramas que, aunque parece que poco tienen que ver con la investigación terminan encajando. Eso sí, os recomiendo que la leáis cuando tengáis suficiente tiempo, si la espaciáis mucho en el tiempo es probable que os olvidéis de muchos detalles relevantes.
¿Os la recomiendo? Sí, mucho, es una novela que engancha y te hace sentirte parte del equipo de investigación. Como 'pero' añadiría que en algunos momentos, para mi gusto, hay excesiva información y que ha quedado alguna cosilla por descubrir, pero en general es una buena historia.

I liked the first three in the series very much,so I was looking forward to this prequel,but it was hugely disappointing. The plot drags,a LOT, the writing´s choppy ,overdescriptive (step by step description of actions) and the characters are nothing like the Munch and Kruger we know.
We know Mia, from "later" books,as having a special talent, but here she comes acoross as a mix of superhuman physical abilities and parlour tricks. Her "findings" are pretty obvious, by the way.
You can spot the red herrings a mile off, and the resolution was, frankly, lacking.
Pity,this author can do so much better.

Wat een miskleun. Om de twee bladzijden steekt de speurder een sigaret op. Om de vijf bladzijden wordt een speurder omschreven als ‘die Hollandse’ en van het einde herinner ik me na twee dagen al niets meer, tenzij een knoert van een onwaarschijnlijke cliffhanger. Twee sterren omwille van de uitwerking van één cruciaal karakter, Mia Krüger. Maar verder wil ik dit boek gauw vergeten en iets beters lezen.

Tai priešistorė kaip Munkas pirmą kartą sutinka Mia Kriuger ir pasiūlo jai darbą savo komandoje,nors Mia dar tik studentė. Labai buvo įdomu stebėti jų pirmą ryšį. Munkas jau patyręs tyrėjas,pirmą kartą gavęs galimybę suburti savo nuosavą komandą. Mia dar tik žengianti į kriminalistikos pasaulį,bet jau nuo pirmų dienų parodo savo genialų protą,pastebėti detales kur atrodo nieko nėra.
Pati byla klasikinis Bjørk stilius - Niūri,šiurpi,su daug paslapčių. Čia ne tik nusikaltimas,bet ir proga parodyti,kad Mia yra ne eilinio gabumo.
Atmosfera tamsi,drėgna,pilna nerimo,lyg gamta tik bunda,o kartu su ja bunda ir demonai.
Skaitant buvo sunku nuspėti,kas yra žudikas. Jau atrodo viskas pradeda aiškėti,bet Bjørkas sugeba padaryti ir apgauti,kad vėl reikia galvoti iš naujo kas ir kaip ir gryžti nuo pradžių..
Pati knyga skaitėsi gana lengvai ir greitai,neprailgo o pabaiga nustebino.

Skaitant buvo sunku nuspėti,kas yra žudikas. Jau atrodo viskas pradeda aiškėti,bet Bjørkas sugeba padaryti ir apgauti,kad vėl reikia galvoti iš naujo kas ir kaip ir gryžti nuo pradžių..
Pati knyga skaitėsi gana lengvai ir greitai,neprailgo o pabaiga nustebino.
Tai nebuvo labai sudėtingas detektyvas,bet labai gerai parašytas. Ir man asmeniškai nepasirodė silpniausias Bjørko detektyvas. Gal todėl,kad aš buvau pasiilgęs Munko ir Mijos.
Nors tai ir priešistorė bet perskaitęs ir užvertęs knygą,supranti dar giliau,kodėl Munkas ir Mia tapo tokia ikoniška pora.

Jau kelinta diena galvoju, kaip galėčiau apibūdinti šią knygą, ir galva visiškai tuščia. Taip ir jaučiuosi ją perskaičiusi - nei susižavėjusi, nei nusivylusi, tiesiog vidutiniškai. Tačiau patiko policininkai (tiksliau Mia), kurie sugeba dirbti be nuolatinio svaiginimosi. O nepatiko atomazga, kai atskleidė nusikaltėlį, man kažkaip nesusidėliojo viskas į vieną gražų paveikslą.

Una novela lenta y demasiados (e innecesarios) puntos de vistas. Algunos detalles se resuelven demasiado rápidos teniendo en cuenta la importancia que se les dio al principio de la historia. Todo un poco raro aunque no descarto leer Viajo sola en algún momento.

Although published in translation fourth in order, this is actually the first book in the series featuring Holger Munch and his sidekick Mia Kruger.
It is 2001 and Mia is at the Police Academy but has scored very highly on a questionnaire designed to highlight talented investigators. Hence, Mia is offered the opportunity to join Holger Munch's specialist homicide team, just at a time when they are investigating the murder of two young boys - a case which replicates an unsolved double murder in Sweden in 1993....
I have really enjoyed the other three books in this series so feel that I already knew the characters before I started this book, even though the action pre-dates those books. Another excellent Scandi-crime thriller, with great characters and a complicated investigation with lots of red herrings apparently being thrown in by the murderer to divert the team from solving the crime as quickly as they may have done.
My only confusion, and perhaps criticism, is in relation to the first chapter when the bodies are found. Hence my confusion!
I have overlooked this inconsistency and still awarded it 4* - 9/10.
