Alyssa Clarke writes steamy Regency Historical Romances featuring swoon-worthy heroes and sassy, sometimes unconventional heroines! Her debut novel, Love Me, If You Dare, came to her in a dream as a hot, fun enemy to lover romance where she played the leading lady who fell in love with a duke who looked remarkably like Henry Cavill.

When not writing, Alyssa enjoys hiking, games/movie night, with her husband and two beautiful children, and her Siberian Husky, Cronus. She is a lover of wine, cheesecake, and more wine.

First of all I would like to say "thank you" to Alyssa Clarke. She kindly sent me the ending of this story that was missing from my kindle purchase. Awaiting my updated Amazon review.

Lord Marsden had found out that his cat, called Queen, was stolen away from him. He finds that it was Louisa who stole his Queen. I think he was in lust with Louisa, before he realised he loved her.
I am so glad to say that this story was very entertaining. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline. I find this author's work is very easy to read, and I love how the characters come alive. I also love the idea of women getting together in their ladies only club. I love this series! 5☆

So far I’ve liked all the other Dare books by Alyssa Clarke. Unfortunately this one just didn’t do it. lord Marsden is painted in a pretty bad light in the previous books.. he’s a womanizer and encourages his friend the duke to cheat on his wife. Worse than that, he treats Louisa badly.. contemptuously. To swallow this story, that he suddenly does a reversal and now finds her enchanting is a big stretch. On top of that why would Louisa give him the time of the day?! She grown so much with the ladies of the Berkeley square that she should have not immediately fallen in love with him and forgiven him so easily. So not my fave for sure. She should have shown more slunk and given the H a run for his money!

I love the title of this story and I enjoyed many aspects of the story but I am docking stars because I didn't feel like it's a complete stand-alone. It's book 10 in a series that I am mostly unfamiliar with and I got the impression that I should have read at least one previous story in order to understand what was going on. Lord Marsden insults Louisa at a ball and her friends decide to steal his cat for revenge. The next thing we know, Louisa goes to a masked ball hoping to stay incognita, and the reader expects the great catnapping to take place there. But no, there is an incident that has something to do with her friend Agatha's love life, and then we find out that the cat has already both been stolen and returned previously. What happened? How did they steal it? I have no clue but at a guess, the missing scenes have likely been explained in Agatha's book. Then there is some kissing, Lord Marsden learns to pick locks and threatens Louisa with ruining the reputations of her friends unless she agrees to spend four nights with him, which might very well lead to her ruin anyway. But it's enough for them to fall in love. I liked the way he helps her defend her own honor, unlikely as it might seem.
I received a free copy of this book and this is a voluntary review.

I have loved Alyssa Clarke since the first book I read of hers. This is my 17th book by her and I’ve only been reading her since April 2021. She is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. I just love her writing, her stories and she writes great sex scenes.

I loved Louisa and Sebastian. I loved their personalities, their story. Just a great fun read.

I borrowed this book from Kindle Unlimited. This in no way affects my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

Louisa & Sebastian (Marsden). Another one I thoroughly enjoyed. Her friend Agatha had accepted a dare to steal Sebastian's cat, Queen in retaliation for a snide comment he made at a ball about Louisa. She is a wallflower but for some reason, he had asked her to dance. On the dance floor, he was apathetic/indifferent. When she tried talking to him, he told her he didn't want to speak to her. It was very rude and confusing since he asked her to dance. Afterwards, she overheard him telling a friend of his that he'd rather have conversations with his cat than with Louisa. So the dare to steal the cat to freak him out.

Despite being returned, Sebastian wanted retribution. He encounters Louisa at the masquerade party and kisses her. She leaves and returns to Berkley St (women's club). When his cat was stolen he hired an investigator to find out what happened. He broke into the house and comes across Louisa in a drawing room. He threatens to out the entire club if he didn't get retribution for the catnapping. His cat was gone 4 nights so he wanted 4 nights from Louisa. He would contact her to decide his nights. Not wanting to ruin the club or any of its members (her "sisters") she agrees.

Over the 4 nights (like night 2) he ends up seducing her. They also spend their time talking and enjoying each others' company. Louisa finds out that her family are in financial straights and either her or her younger sister (a season diamond) would need to marry well. She is courted by and receives an offer from a childhood friend (on that she wanted to be with before meeting Sebastian) but she's unsure because she knows that while they would have a respectful marriage it would lack passion. She knows that Sebastian won't offer for her and she should accept the offer but she just can't.

Even though their agreement had ended he realizes that he's been holding onto his bachelorhood, believing monogamy would be a bore but quickly realizes that he wants to spend all of his time with Louisa. Upon returning home after being proposed to (she wanted time to think about it), he goes to her and tells her that he loves her and wants to marry her. Super romantic in front of her family.

Was this one perfect? No. But, I enjoyed it nonetheless. I have a good place in my heart when it comes to this series by Alyssa Clarke. These books are fun and easy to read. I appreciate them bringing me out of a book slump here and there and making me remember why I love romance.

Looking forward to the next in the series!

A short and quick story with the same ingredients as all the other books in the series: a rogue, a fearless wallflower, and a marriage despite the reluctance of the rake, who wanted to keep his bachelorhood for longer...

This book also doesn't have an epilogue, if that's something you value as a reader.

The 10th book in the exciting Wagers and Wallflowers series!

Miss Louisa Templeton is considered the shy mouse of the secret ladies’ club held at 48 Berkeley Square but after her friends on a dare kidnapped Sebastian Colfax, the Marquess of Marsden’s cat, Queen, Louisa finds that the delectable and far too dangerous marquess is showing an unusual and scandalous interest in her!

Will he see in time what is in front of him …

After reading the previous book, it was impossible for me to stop at just this one so I went and downloaded this one and book #8.
So I will be up to scratch with the series until the next.
Louisa is the shy one, more than shy, so blending she is not seen.
Why she was slighted more than one, the last episode when she was asked to dance by Marsden because her mousey appearance will deter his mother from urging him to marry such a drab Miss.
This insult led to a dare which consequences are detailed in book #9
In between, the marquess has not forgiven the kidnapping of his dear cat.
At the beginning, he is not a man to be liked or admired, he is petty and revengeful when he was outrageous with Louisa.
Yet as he exacts his reprisal, he changes discovering there is so much more to the invisible miss than he thought. Shy she might be, but dull she is not. He becomes a shoulder she can rest on, a figure she can share her reasoning.
But so set on his course for reasons only known to him, their time together is with an end. Something Louisa knows and accepted as the term of their bargain, whatever the cost.
An other delightful sensuous tale with a hero who will show there is more to him than his rakish way.

Alyssa Clarke always weaves a great tale and this one is no exception. It captured my attention and held it. I must admit I do like the ladies from 48 Berkeley Square and have enjoyed the series.

As we learn, Louisa is timid but she is far from being the simpering wallflower everyone thinks. Sebastian learns about the secret club at Berkeley Square after one of the dares involved his cat. Thinking Louisa to be the mastermind behind it, he dares her to spend 4 nights with him at his house or else he will spill all about her club and the women who run it.

Overall, I liked this story but it was very predictable and I wasn't fond of how it started out with blackmail from Sebastian. He does come off as a jerk in many aspects but he does change throughout the story. I think the cat and how he treats her redeemed him. And of course, his cat rules over him, her name of Queen is fitting. Character development is huge in this story, with both characters not only realizing each other but also many aspects within themselves. The story rolls along pretty much as one would think and 4 nights turn into mischief-making and eventually the two realize they love each other.
I do recommend this one as it is a really solid story, with steamy scenes, and great development.
I received an advanced copy and my review is voluntary.

I absolutely love this series on these spunky ladies of 48 Berkeley Square. Their series of dares and adventure make for a fun and interesting read, and then you add in a scorching romance to that and ,oh my, what an enjoyable book! Louisa and Sebastian, Marquess of Marsden may have the best romance yet. Poor Louisa was always in the shadow of her beautiful sister, a plain, overlooked Wallflower. It was wonderful to watch this average duck turn into a beautiful swan in the eyes of the Marquess when he finally opened his eyes to see what was right in front of him. How often do we all do that without ever taking the time to really see a person’s value. And I totally loved the Marquess’ relationship with his cat. It showed his unique and eccentric tendencies, and Louisa didn’t mind a bit! beautiful story and delightful romance!

I have so enjoyed the Wagers and Wallflowers series. I do love a strong heroine with quirky facets and 84 Berkeley Square has taken shy, reserved, ignored ladies of the ton and given them spunk in the bucketful. Louisa, in No Good Dare Goes Unpunished is another overlooked lady that finds her HEA when the very naughty Sebastian notices her. I really enjoyed this book; Alyssa is a gifted writer who tells a good tale and I loved that all the past club members from previous books are mentioned and add to how close the club has made the girls. Well-written steam, good story and likeable characters left me wanting more. I am already sad that there are only 2 left in this series as I shall miss them all.

I enjoy these books so much, I can’t get enough of them. I really enjoyed this book about Louisa and Sebastian. I felt like I knew Sebastian from reading the previous book in the series because he was a secondary character, but you do not have to read the previous book to enjoy this one, but why not, they are all good. Louisa was a quiet, shy wallflower, Sebastian was a Rake. But when they got together and Louisa smiled at Sebastian things heat up from there.
I received an ARC from Booksprout and I am leaving my honest opinion.

Spelling Errors Abound

Louisa and Sebastian are good characters, but the plot is underdeveloped and the misused/misspelled words are a distraction.

Are authors no longer familiar with the words “gratitude” or “grateful”when they choose to have a character say that they feel “gratefulness”? It’s a trend that seems to be on the rise. Furthermore, the present tense of “misspoke” is “misspeak”. Also, when featuring a character who is a Marquess, the word ends with a double-s.

REGENCY LADIES,EMPOWERING, LOVESTORY

5 STARS for another Alyssa Clarke Book 10 in her Series Wagers and Wallflowers, No Good Dare goes Unpunished. Don't miss the Blurb it is amazing & makes your mouth water for more. We once again meet up with some of the characters we already know or have knowledge of. I absolutely fell in love with our H, Lady Louisa, and would have definitely been her friend.
Her abilities or if any are described it appears even by supposedly gentlemen smoking cigars in the garden during a ball, outrageous. That is where I imagine a space shuttle taking off & they count down, 3 2 1 IGNITE & She's off & this is where I place the extremely intriguing Louisa at when she leaves this ball & thinks things through: Ignite & She's Off.
Our male H, Sebastian, Marquess & known rake. His highly liberal escapades with the Ladies of the Demi-monde, Widows, Madams at the most selective whore houses England had to offer, mistresses, and his delicious looks & highly masculine body not to mention his naughty flirtatious behavior made him one to watch for the matrons & one to dream & can tide about by both the matrons & the young ladies in the marriage mart. Ladies that have made there coming out know he definitely has money & would make them all envious, if he chose her! My kind of rake, doesn't prey on the young & innocent, doesn't throw all away in cards, & even though he is a little insensitive & entirely self centered ; he has an underlying ability to care & love others & not to deliberately seek to encompass others in pain of any kind for a lark, or the need or love of it, to enjoy the infliction of pain on others.

I spent time fleshing out Sebastian's character because I think understanding him makes the tale so much more interesting. I guess though, just his complete love & devotion to his cat explains all I said above. (except his masculine beauty)
Louisa dances with Sebastian which leads to a cat situation and that my friends is where as it's said: " No Good Dare goes Unpunished ".

I feel anymore I say gets into Spoiler Alerts in every direction & sorry, please read this entertaining delightful different delicious RECOMMENDED book. Oh,, a little spoiler though if you dislike sexual content be aware there is man & woman sexual action. No vulgur words, though. Loved this book!
LOVESTORY. Will read again!

Again RECOMMEND. RECOMMEND

Miss Louisa Templeton is a wallflower and very shy. However, at a ball one night, she was asked to dance by a marquess, which was strange, and when she tried to carry on a conversation with him, he told her he didn't wish to speak with her. Later, after he had been so rude, she heard him telling a friend that he would rather speak with his cat that Louisa. So, when Louisa tells ladies at their secret club at 48 Berkeley Square, a dare is made then planned to steal the marquess's precious cat, Queen to pay him back for the rudeness he done to Louisa.

Sebastian Colfax, the Marquess and Marsden has held on to be a bachelor and is enjoying his freedom. His life is full, and he has his cat, Queen, whom he loves and that is all the companionship he needs. Until Queen is stolen and even though Sebastian gets her back safe and sound after hiring an investigator, he wants vengeance. He finds Louisa at her secret club and confronts her and threatens to out the club and make it known to everyone if he doesn't get revenge for the catnapping. Sebastian informs Louisa that since Queen was gone four nights, he would take four nights with her for repayment - she agrees because she doesn't want to ruin the club or her friends, the members.

They have the four nights, the second night he seduces her and after that they talk, get to know each other and enjoy the time together. After the four nights, the agreement was fulfilled. But Louise has discovered her family is in debt and needs her younger sister or herself to marry well. She receives an offer from a childhood friend before meeting Sebastian and she knows it would be a respectful marriage but without any passion. Louisa has accepted the fact that Sebastian will never offer for her, but she cannot bring herself to accept her childhood friend's offer. Their HEA is very romantic, and it is a love match!

Okay, I have to admit this is moderately forgettable. Even trying to recall the story now I only remember that I really enjoyed it, but the characters were honestly like every other pair in this series.

The Marquess had his car stolen, and decides to seek out revenge. On the girl who stole the cat you may think? Nope, she’s married to his Duke friend. He decides to strike up a deal/punishment/revenge situation with the girl he terribly insulted (thus the friend stealing the much loved cat). There’s a lot of angst around the Marquess never wanting to marry, but he slowly begins falling for this young women he thought was boring and plain. Their relationship development is super steamy and I truly enjoyed this story. The drama and tension worked for me, although if you asked me about this book 3 months from now, I’m sure I couldn’t tell you a single thing about it.

Nevertheless, if you’re looking for a quick, enjoyable, read definitely give this a try! I think it’s surely one of the better additions in this series.

Louisa, the ‘mousey wallflower’, was inexplicably drawn to Sebastian, the Marquess of Marsden, a rake with a terrible reputation. After he had insulted her by stating that chatting with his cat was more engaging than as conversation with her, her friends in their secret society decided to kidnap said cat as payback. However, once Sebastian discovered who the culprets were, he wanted revenge, which led him to spend more time with Louisa. It’s always fun to read about rakes falling in love, and this story is no exception. This author does an excellent job of giving the reader insight into each character’s persona, both public and private. We get to see Louisa get in touch with her passion, and Sebastian discover what he needs to fill the void in his life. This story is quite steamy, has wonderful dialogue and a variety of characters. Another delicious addition to a delightful series!.

Miss Louisa Templeton is considered the shy mouse of the secret ladies’ club held at 48 Berkeley Square but when she overhears Sebastian Colfax, the Marquis of Marsden comments about her, her friends kidnap his cat, Queen, to teach him a lesson. However Sebastian fids out about the club & demands four nights with Louisa for his silence.
I loved how two lonely souls found love. Sebastian had no plans to marry for decades but Louisa wormed her way into his heart. Louisa wanted love, marriage & children but most of all for someone to accept her for herself. A delightful short read the characters were well developed & the pace never lagged. I love it when a rake falls hard & fast especially for a wallflower

I would have been very upset if someone took my much loved dog so I could understand Sebastian’s ire again Louisa and her friends when he discovers that they took Queen after he slighted Louisa. But the more time he spends with her the more he realizes she has hidden depths that would be lost if she accepts a marriage offer from her childhood friend. I loved that he arranged a fencing duel with her and a man who had behaved badly with her. I was a bit upset about his seduction but Louisa accepted that Sebastian wasn’t going to offer marriage. But is he willing to lose her forever to another? His rescue cat was sweet and the gifts he gave were all about making Louisa happy. This was a steamy revenge friends to lovers romance.

Miss Louisa Templeton has no expectations of making a successful match. She only wants to marry for love. It's the fifth ball of the season and no one has asked her to dance, until Sebastian Colfax, the Marquess of Marsden. A known rake with no interest in marriage, Louisa overhears why he asked her to dance. At 48 Berkeley Square, the ladies setup revenge with a dare. Successful, Sebastian plots his revenge and finds himself seduced in his own game by Louisa. With her family's reduced finances, she may be forced to accept a marriage proposal from a man she does not love. It's all up to Sebastian. Does he dare?

Louisa and Sebastian’s story
It started with an unkind statement and a stolen cat and ended with a love of a life time. Now things did not always go the way you may expect but the hero and heroine were outstanding characters. I love 48 Berkeley Square and it ladies. This piece has a pamper cat who needs her blanket, a wallflower who is not wilted rose, a usually duel, and a lord who doesn’t understand the minute he danced with her he was lost. It is a fun book and very well written. I did receive a free copy of this book from Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review it.

Sebastian's beloved cat was catnapped and he will get his revenge. Louisa will do anything to protect her friends and had agreed to spend 4 nights with Sebastian, the length of time she had his cat. Their interactions were pretty magical and sweet. The characters clearly fell for one another, it wasn't all about their attraction and the honesty they shared made this one another great story. Love the series!.

I enjoyed this one. Louisa is a wonderful; leading lady, courageous and kind hearted and although Sebastian starts out as something of a pantomime villain he steadily develops into a more rounded and believable character.

This is a novella length so the plot needs to develop at a fair pace, but it still works well. It is really necessary to start this series from the beginning as several characters are carried over from previous books and the reader will struggle with the start of the plot to this one without having already read book 9.
