Tanistry is a Gaelic system for passing on titles and lands. In this system the Tanist (Irish: Tánaiste; Scottish Gaelic: Tànaiste; Manx: Tanishtey) is the office of heir-apparent, or second-in-command, among the (royal) Gaelic patrilineal dynasty.

This is a second chance romance story about Iain Mackenzie who had his heart ripped from his chest. It was because his love Glynnis MacLachlan listens to her father and marries a stranger for due to Iain Mackenzie Cameron’s illegitimacy.

I received a complimentary ARC copy from the author. I voluntarily agreed to read, review and blog an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts, ideas and opinions are my own.
this book was ok. it has some chacators in that i had met before and had nearly forgot as it had been so long. it was nice to know the hero stepbrother was still alive but sad about his half-sibling. i feel very sorry for the heroine but everyone helped her heal and the hero was really good. it wasn't very romantic but still a very nice read.
Glynnis had no other choice but to bypass the man she loved, Iain Cameron, to marry another at her father's wishes. Now widowed but nursing many sorrows, Glynnis returns to her godmother in order to heal, and is put right back into Iain's world.
Due to the previous loss of her and his feelings of unworthiness, in the time Glynnis has been gone, Iain has built his life up until he will be chosen as the next chief of his clan and will soon be betrothed to another.
With little time left, Glynnis takes the risk of making the ultimate memory with Iain that she can take with her into an uncertain future. This leads Iain and Glynnis onto a path where they both must decide what is more important: love or duty.
I liked both of these characters. I felt Glynnis's sorrows right along with her. She had much strength, despite her circumstances, and she continued on where some might have crumpled. In the end, these two come out right of course, but it was a bit difficult to read about Iain having a liking for his betrothed, despite his feelings for Glynnis and what the reader knows she is going through.
