Austen's plots often explore the dependence of women on marriage for the pursuit of favourable social standing and economic security. Her works are an implicit critique of the novels of sensibility of the second half of the 18th century and are part of the transition to 19th-century literary realism. Her deft use of social commentary, realism and biting irony have earned her acclaim among critics and scholars.
The anonymously published Sense and Sensibility (1811), Pride and Prejudice (1813), Mansfield Park (1814), and Emma (1816), were a modest success but brought her little fame in her lifetime. She wrote two other novels—Northanger Abbey and Persuasion, both published posthumously in 1817—and began another, eventually titled Sanditon, but died before its completion. She also left behind three volumes of juvenile writings in manuscript, the short epistolary novel Lady Susan, and the unfinished novel The Watsons.
Since her death Austen's novels have rarely been out of print. A significant transition in her reputation occurred in 1833, when they were republished in Richard Bentley's Standard Novels series (illustrated by Ferdinand Pickering and sold as a set). They gradually gained wide acclaim and popular readership. In 1869, fifty-two years after her death, her nephew's publication of A Memoir of Jane Austen introduced a compelling version of her writing career and supposedly uneventful life to an eager audience. Her work has inspired a large number of critical essays and has been included in many literary anthologies. Her novels have also inspired many films, including 1940's Pride and Prejudice, 1995's Sense and Sensibility and 2016's Love & Friendship.

¡¡¡Libro Finalizado!!!
Inicié con la colección de Jane Austen y sí, reconozco que he demorado demasiado con este volumen.
Contiene las obras: "Orgullo y Prejuicio" y "Juvenilia":
-Orgullo y Prejuicio: Presenta a la familia Bennet, quienes son una familia con moderada clase social gracias al Sr. Bennet. Su esposa y sus hijas pronto se ven impacientes debido a la llegada del Sr. Bingley, quien augura ser alguien joven y de clase social alta, por lo que ven en él una pronta oportunidad de matrimonio para las señoritas Bennet. Junto a él aparecerá el Sr. Darcy, alguien que, a ojos de Lizzy Bennet (la protagonista), parece sumamente orgulloso, pero oculta una personalidad compleja y profunda, ¿qué sucederá en está curiosa historia?
-Juvenilia: Es un conjunto de cuentos, novelas y dramas inacabados divididos en 3 volúmenes, todos escritos por una adolescente Jane Austen que empezaba a escribir.
Es innegable que "Orgullo y Prejuicio" es una obra bastante interesante y una joyita literaria, sin embargo, he de admitir que, personalmente, me pareció un poco lenta en ciertas partes, además, el estilo narrativo combina el realismo de la sociedad en que Austen vivió y el romanticismo relacionado al matrimonio y su relevancia para las mujeres de la época.
Sin embargo, sí me pareció algo repetitivo, ya que en Juvenilia también se aborda la misma temática, algo que sí me pareció cansado de leer, al tener una temática repetitiva.
Dudo si continuar con la colección de Austen, ya que por lo que pude averiguar, aborda los mismos temas en la gran mayoría de su obra.
Podría intercalar la lectura con Julio Verne para equilibrar la lectura y completar mi reto de lectura de este año. ¿Qué piensan?

Me gustó mucho este libro, mustra muy bien la situación d elas mujeres en esa época en cuanto al amor y a la toma de desiciones. La historia de amor es muy bonita e inesperada la mismo tiempo, se describen tan bien los sentimientos que uno llega a sentir lo mismo que los protagonistas. Muy bien estructurados los personajes y la historia lo hace querer seguir a uno leyendo para saber que pasa más adelante.
