My Sexy Date With Bigfoot: stories of fables, myths, legends, the Bible and other delightful nonsense

Rate this book
This is a book. This book is comprised of many short stories and most of them have similar themes. That is to say that they deal with mythical creatures or legends or some form of heightened reality. What the French would call, "heightened reality" if they were French people who happened to be discussing the book in English. Some might also call it, "magical realism". I was greatly influenced by the work of Gabriel García Márquez. He wrote some really great stuff that you can find in the library. Even if you bought his books he wouldn't see one red cent as he is stone dead. Another author I really admire is Simon Rich who writes wonderful short stories. Again, read them later, go to the library. While he is not dead, he is also a screen writer so again, plenty of cash.

So as you probably surmised from that killer opening paragraph this book is going to be hilarious. Seriously side-splittingly funny. Interesting, spell check seems to think that side-splittingly is not a word. So, I guess I will just follow in the footsteps of The Bard and make up the words as I go. Because after all, isn't that what writing is all about?

This collection of short stories had been on my kindle for awhile, and I finally decided to give it a try. I had added it on a whim when I was in a mood, i thought the title was funny. I read the first three stories.
The first, The Wordsmith, is actually pretty clever. But it does seem to be in need of some quality editing.
The second, My Sexy Date With Bigfoot, is in dire need of editing. It slips back and forth between past and present tense, and punctuation is often incorrect. The story is, in my opinion, lacking.
The third is Genie High School Reunion. The story has an interesting moral, but is, even for a short story, lacking in substance.
I won't be finishing this one.

I'm a big fan of short stories and this book does not disappoint. So funny and interesting, it just keeps you wanting to go back to see what's coming next! The author has such a unique style of story telling, I'm looking forward to the next book.
