Time for an updated 'bio.'!

Things about me:
• I lived in 19 houses before I was 20 years old, and my family was not in the military.
• I started an animal/human welfare nonprofit that continues to operate and keep families together.
• For 8 years I owned a buy one, give one pet food brand that supported rescues & shelters across the country.
• Unsurprisingly, I have a thing for ‘special’ animals like my dog Chance, who was paralyzed in the back end, and my canine child Charlie, who was born blind. No animals will ever be hurt or killed in my books. (People are totally fair game.)
• Even though I’m not a tech bro, I lived in my warehouse for a year (not as cool as it sounds, btw).
• Before I ran away from home in LA and moved to Iowa, I worked with celebs.
• I used to have severe social phobia; now I’m a big-mouthed, opinionated beast.

This book is the last one in the trilogy after The Doll House and The Hunted. It is set about 10 years after The Hunted. Emily, who Angel and CB rescued in book 2 is now part of the Baden extended family and the Baden Foundation has set up the Komorebi organisation - one arm, known as Hope, helps and supports survivors of captivity and the other arm, known as Promise, helps the families of those who have survived and some that haven’t. Angel herself now lives on a 140 acre piece of land in Utah with her dogs and one cat. She helps rescue and train therapy and emotional support dogs.

There are a lot of characters in this story. Also there is no point reading this if you have not read the previous books because the background given is very sketchy. The book even read quite differently to the previous two and I even had trouble with sorting out who everyone was and their links with each other.

The story in a nutshell - someone is “assisting” some of the Hope survivors to commit suicide to end their pain, albeit mostly unwillingly. And Angel has a creepy stalker. I can’t really say much more except obviously things come to a head towards the end of the book and the identity of both the stalker (although I had guessed this one) and the suicide helper come as a bit of a shock. Not everyone lives happily ever after. This was my least favourite of the three books. Many thanks to BookSirens for the free copy of the book which enabled me to provide a voluntary and honest review.

However the series as a whole has been an excellent reading experience!

The Mercy: Angel of Death is the thrilling conclusion to the Duality series, after The Dollhouse and The Hunted. It is sad that this series is now over as I have become quite attached to some of these characters over the 3 books. It was emotional ending to a fantastic series.

The Mercy started a bit slower than the previous books for me but it certainly ramped up. I loved that Angel was now working with therapy dogs - anything with dogs always has me sucked in. These characters are still dealing with their demons and now it seems that some of their fellow members of Komorebi, a private “club” of people who endured long-term captivity are dying.

You need to go in blind and not know too much about the story. It is a dark and twisted series and this book is no different. Some scenes are quite graphic and as I have said before, this book is not for those with a weak stomach.

Thank you so much to the author Sara, for having my on your ARC team and sending me your books to read. It has been a wonderful experience and I look forward to seeing what you have is store for us next.

Wow wow wow!

So much conclusion. Would love to write all about it but can't without giving important parts away. This final book wraps up Angel's story in a bow and delivers you a thriller of a gift. I wish there was more! I can't stand letting these amazing characters live on without more books to read. I've grown to love them All and cheer for them through each tale told.

Read all the books! Email the author and ask for the mini books! Curl up and enjoy because you won't be able to put down.

I received an advanced review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Honestly I would have bought it anyway if I hadn't gotten a copy. It's that good!

I am beyond grateful to be part of the team that gets the books by Sara Ennis into readers hands.

Not only do I enjoy the behind the scenes part of the process, I TRULY love her work and believe she is an author that is going places.

This book is everything we’ve come to expect from her. It’s dark, twisted and has some twists you won’t see coming!

Stay tuned for the cover reveal and we will let you know when it’s available for preorder.

If you loved The Dollhouse, you aren’t going to want to miss what’s going on in Angels life now!

The Mercy is the final novel to the trilogy by Sara Ennis. If you have been following me, you know I was obsessed with The Dollhouse and The Hunted. I am bittersweet about this as I am so sad to be ending this journey with all of the characters I have come to love.

You know I am not usually a fan of series but I can honestly say this is one of the best I have had the privilege to read. Its extremely dark, twisted and filled with some heavy topics however, Sara writes them with such ease and gives you something at the end-Hope. All of the main characters are strong despite their trauma and persevere. She makes the stories about the victims and their lives. She writes them with compassion and care. You feel for all of them deep in your heart and that is special. Any author that can illicit full range of emotions is extremely talented to me. I will not give any spoilers because I think it best you read it and see the way this wraps up. I was extremely happy with the ending and felt satisfied.

I also wanted to add that this novel delves into the training of emotional support/therapy and service dogs. I found it extremely interesting. I do not know about you but any novel that has an animal in it I am biased too and this one included so many wonderful dogs, especially Pit Bulls. Thank you @saraenniswrites and @thriller_chick for letting me a part of this journey!

TRIGGER WARNINGS: Profanity, Sex, Suicide, Abuse, Violence, Rape, and Death

My Rating System: 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ticked all the boxes LOVED IT!!!

Ten years ago Angel, Olivia and Grace were captives in the ‘Dollhouse’ made to be real life ‘dolls’. They were fortunate to get out with their lives while others were not (including Angel’s brother Bud).

Angel lives fairly well off the grid training psychological service dogs for those that need them. Olivia is a successful author and talk-show host who is married with a child. Peter Baden (Olivia’s dad) who has more money than God has set up a private “club” called Komorebi for the survivors of long-term captivity and their families as a safe haven to speak to those that have suffered similar fates.

Komo (as it is lovingly called) has many members and ‘family’ members who pour their heart and soul into helping those who need it most but now the unthinkable is happening - survivors are turning up dead seemingly by means of suicide. Not everything is as it seems though and there are secrets everywhere - Who will be Next??

I’ll admit I didn’t love the sound of the synopsis and thought perhaps this would be a hit and a miss for me. I WAS WRONG …. This was potentially the best one yet. I am not a neat and tidy tie it in a bow kind of ending person but everything that happened in this story happened for a reason and it happened in the right sequence. 🎀

The author kept the same writing style as the second book and I appreciate that because it was truly a breath of fresh air. There is humour, sarcasm, and some quirky habits from each of the POVs I enjoyed that so much it felt like the reader is in the head of the person that is doing the ‘speaking’. There are more POVs in this one than ever before and I really enjoyed that as well you got to hear from other people that haven’t had much of a voice before and you got to know multiple characters. 👯‍♀️

I enjoyed this so much and gobbled it up in 24hours. I am sad to say that this is the end however there are two short stories Two Lies & a Truth and Veronique that I will be going back to read but this story is definitely a Three Book ending there will be no more based on the ending. 🎬

Ahhh the ending… I’m not crying… you’re crying… well maybe I was crying. OK Fine I cried HAPPY …. It was sad and happy and emotional and everything was happening…. I was shocked and like I said it was emotional alright… I don’t wanna talk about it anymore… Just read it you will understand. 😭🫶

The book may not be for everyone but I thought it brought a poetic ending to such a set of shocking stories… Angel is forever a bit of a badass… I like that she still talks to ‘Bud Star’ and I think she’ cool and quirky and thats awesome. 😇

We get a bit more from Olivia than we ever have before and she is a shaken soul - very complex character. 🕊

CB was not in this book nearly enough for me… if I have one complaint that would be it… but she was in it… so at least she was there and you do find out what happens in her life… 💃

Overall, I am happy with the way this ended and I am not going to add any spoilers at all… if you are going to do yourself justice read all three Duality books they are worth it. 🙌

As I have said in my previous reviews the first book is a bit of a slog due to the length and the writing style but it is still a very good read… with a disturbed story. The author more than makes up for it (in my opinion) in these next two books keeping them under 300 pages and the chapters nice and short and sentences succinct. 💯📚

Great series, loved it and Highly Recommend. 👍💖

A recommendation from the author: This is the final chapter of the Duality trilogy. You can read the The Hunted: Sins of the Father as a stand-alone, but it's best to read this one after reading the The Dollhouse: A psychological thriller.

Thank you to Good Girl Charlie Publishing, Book Sirens and Sara Ennis for an advanced copy of this book for my honest review.

Here it is! The third and final installment of the Duality series! I’m so so thankful to be a part of Sara’s ARC team. I’m such a fan of this series. What an amazing and shocking ending! This whole book was written so beautifully! I enjoyed the short chapters and dual POVs. I also really liked reading the case files on each person at Komo to hear their backstory. It has been ten years since Angel left the Dollhouse and she is now living off the grid but is still very much in communication with Komo and the survivors that they are helping. Things start to go wrong though when the survivors are dying by suicide. I’m going to miss these characters but I’m happy with how their story was told.

Thank you Sara and Alicia for gifting me a physical & ebook!
——
𝗠𝗲𝗿𝗰𝘆 is the final book of The Dollhouse trilogy and yet another five-star read for me! First off , I have to emphasize that if you wish to read any of the trilogy books, you must read them all in order because book 2 and 3 make references to characters and events that would otherwise make it confusing.

Although I gave 5 stars to all three, Mercy stands out as my top favorite because I felt this book displayed the raw and complex truth of how abuse in all its forms can take a different trajectory for each individual. In this book, we are presented with a host of characters who have endured physical and mental torture and each one of them is asked the same question “Are you happy?” The responses are varied versions of “No but I’m navigating through it” or “I’m content” and Sara does a spectacular job of showing how each individual chooses their own healing path while others can’t seem move forward. This book holistically renders a voice to the victim and not the perpetrator that many books and movies do.

After reading book 1 and 2, I know Sara pulls no punches with shocking twists but I was still utterly speechless with the twists in this one and I had to pause to write a review for 2 days from that ending. Wow what an ending it was…I was certainly not expecting such an end to the trilogy!!! Notice I did not summarize the story because this is one you just have to go in blind and experience the story.

After escaping first the Dollhouse and a murderous police officer, Angel has found a place where she is content in an isolated area in Utah where she trains dogs to provide psychological support. Olivia is a successful public figure, sharing their experiences through books and a talk show. Peter has established a foundation to support the families of other missing people, using the lessons he learned while searching for Olivia.
They also have an online community where survivors can share their stories. Despite all their best efforts survivors begin committing suicide. A closer look at the scene may indicate that there is more behind these deaths and they may need to look close to home to find the answers as the deaths grow closer to home.
This is one of the best series I have read this year. The author did not leave any loose ends dangling but I will be sorry to say goodbye to some of these characters.

Another dark and twisted story in the third and final book in the duality series by author @saraenniswrites and of course I loved it!

While this one started out a bit of a slow burn it certainly ramped up during the last third of the book and we were treated to a thrilling wrap up that I did not see coming! After reading the trilogy, I am left with a sadness at having to say goodbye to some great characters though!

Members of Komorebi, an online support group for survivors of long term captivity are dying by suicide. But is there more to it? Are they taking their own lives or is someone taking it for them?

This book delves more into the psychological trauma the survivors struggle with and the long term effects of that trauma. Can you ever really come to terms with something like that?!

So well written and I highly recommend the whole series! I am looking forward to what Sara has in store for her readers next!

#3 Duality

Having loved the first 2 books ( the first more so) I was excited to read this one. It’s an ongoing story arc so it’s crucial to read them order. I must admit it’s been awhile since I read book#2 so I’d forgotten the characters. The writing style instinctively feels quiet different, and feels a bit unsettling when the story arc covers the 3 books.

It’s 10 years since Angel and Olivia were captives in the dollhouse.
They are now part of a survivors club called Komorebi created by Peter Baden, it’s a group created to help support survivors and the families of long term captivity.
On the surface they are getting on with their lives, Angel trains psychological support dogs, Olivia is a talk show host. But all is not what it seems.
Komo as it’s known has 2 sides, Promise, is for the relatives and available for those with missing, found or deceased relatives following abduction. Then hope is is the side for the survivors.

I think this book lacked a strong hook. Also I think that the title should just be Mercy, the current title I feel is a spoiler.

There are many POV, Olivia, Angel, who we know, then other members of the Komo group, where we discover their tortuous back stories, we get quite a bit of info on data sheets held by the group. I’m not over keen on this method but it’s an effective way of getting concise information across to the reader of the many new characters.

I think the premise of the story is excellent, however for me there are too many POV and characters with their back stories which means very little happens in the first half of the book plot wise. There’s a lot of descriptive prose which I don’t think really adds anything. I didn’t really engage with any of the characters, even Angel and Olivia who we are familiar with.

The plot and pace pick up really well at the final quarter, it ends strongly and full of emotion.

I had an arc copy

THE MERCY is the final installment of the trilogy that first began with THE DOLLHOUSE and continued with THE HUNTED. I had no idea how the author would end the stories of the characters I had become invested in and had grown to care about.

THE MERCY finds Angel settled in a place in Utah, far off the grid, training service dogs and dedicating herself to Komorebi, which doesn't have a direct translation in Japanese but refers to the sunlight shining through the leaves of trees, a powerful metaphor for what this group does. Komorebi provides support for victims of violent crime. In addition to paying rent, legal bills, and child care, the group provides a safe haven for those with one terrible thing in common.

Olivia, who survived The Dollhouse with Angel, has found her way as an author and talk show host; however, she is struggling to accept the child that she gave birth to shortly after escaping from The Dollhouse. Other crime survivors are struggling too, and while reading the transcripts from their sessions, one question is always brought up: "Are you happy?" and the answer is always the same: "No, but I'm content." But then the survivors start dying by suicide, one after another, and Angel soon realizes there is a killer in their midst.

I can't sing this author's praises enough. This is one of the best trilogies I've ever read. Sure, the subject matter is dark, but the characters and this world she has created is so real, and it definitely shows the flip side of violent crime. So much attention goes to the perpetrator that you never fully understand how the victim's life is irrevocably changed, and I thank her so much for giving these victims a voice. Coming your way May 1, 2022!

Angel is back for the third installment in the Duality series! Ten years have passed since she left the Dollhouse with Olivia, and she has grown tremendously over the course of the three books as our main character.

Sara Ennis’s writing style completely draws me in, and this book was no exception! The short chapters, multiple POVs, character interviews, and pacing were all crafted SO well. I loved getting the stories of other members of Komorebi almost as much as I loved getting a third book with Angel, Olivia, and Nick!

As sad as I am to see this series end, I think this was the perfect close-out book to do so.

I highly recommend this book and series to fans of thrillers/ psychological suspense/ or horror novels, and you’ll definitely want to start from the beginning!

Thank you so much to @saraenniswrites for having me on your ARC team and allowing me the opportunity to read and review this one early!!

4 stars for the final book in the Duality series. This caught me totally off guard because after books 1 and 2 you have to wonder how this is going to go. The surprise factor was 10/10.

Back with the original Dollhouse crew this was quite a great wrap up. Did I mention you do NOT see this coming?? Rivaling with the horror of book one this one is equally as twisted.

Angel and Olivia with the help of Olivia's father set up an online support group for those surviving abductions. Only they start dying one by one. All these people committing suicide now? Why? Or is there something more to this?

Alternating pov from Angel and Oliva with some honorable mentions from Nick and Peter you don't want to miss this.

As always with series books people wonder about the order. I strongly recommend you have at least read book 1 prior to reading this. You will be at a strong disadvantage if you don't.

Yet another suspenseful psychological thriller from Sara Ennis that hits all the right notes and was a great addition to her Duality series. I liked seeing what the characters from The Dollhouse were up to. And shock of all shocks, I remembered things that happened in the first two books which I think speaks to how good this series is because I normally find that difficult. The suspenseful mystery of who is killing these survivors of abduction kept my interest the entire time and the pieces of the puzzle fit into place at just the right times. This psychological thriller series is entirely worth your time and I highly recommend it.

There's a killer on the loose. Survivors within Komorebi, a group of people who have survived long term captivity, are slowly turning up dead. Can the killer be caught before too many lose their life?

I was such a huge fan of the first two books in this series, despite how gruesome they were! I went into this book expecting more of the same but was treated to a slow build up. Towards the middle, I was still wondering which direction the book was going to go. The killings had begun but the emphasis didn't seem to be on the killer. The last 1/3 of the book really picked up though and I found myself not being able to put the book down. The ending was a shock and I have to admit, I didn't see it coming though I did guess who the killer was early on.

I'm sad this series has ended but I look forward to reading more by Sara Ennis.

“I’m living behind a mask, inside a costume. Showing the world what it wants to see. There are two paths for people like us: go insane or fall apart. Pretend to keep your back straight, put it all behind you. But you can’t really do that.”

This is the 3rd and final book in the Duality trilogy and let me just say wow!!! All 3 of these books are solid reads. The Mercy: Angel of Death is told in 3rd person from alternating POVs of Angel, Olivia, Peter and Nick, some 2nd person narration from the anonymous killer as well as transcripts from interviews of the survivors of Komorebi that are showing up dead.

I loved the short chapters because they left me wanting more. I loved learning about the new survivors at Komorebi and of course loved reading about my favorites from the first two books! Angel and Olivia are adults in this book which I loved. Sara did a great job portraying how trauma and adverse experiences affect everyone differently because that’s reality. We all have different perceptions as to what happened and we all have different life course trajectories. This was a great ending to the series and I’m truly sad I won’t be able to read about Angel and all of the chaos she encounters. Can’t wait to see what Sara Ennis comes up with next. Once again, I highly recommend this series!

THE MERCY: ANGEL OF DEATH is Sara's third and final installment in the Duality series. A decade later, Angel and Olivia are flourishing as adults. Angel trains service dogs and continues to be the strong-willed female I've grown to care for throughout this journey. Meanwhile, Olivia is a well-known author and talk-show host. Peter, Olivia's father, and their team have established a safe group for captivity survivors. It was delightful to see Peter's voice as a prominent POV. I've always respected him as a father and everything he's accomplished for his family. Being the Komorebi network had a good amount of members, it was fascinating how I was able to learn about them through interviews. Even though their stories were difficult to process, they were informative.⠀⠀
⠀⠀
Compared to The Dollhouse and The Hunted, I found the story had a slower pace than the prior plots. My attention span sometimes wavered, but I'm glad I pushed through. The action picked up towards the last 80 pages or so, and it was a bit shocking, to say the least. Sara has a way of bringing the wow factor just when needed most. Even though The Dollhouse remains my all-time favorite, I'm sad to see the series end. Her writing is out of this world, and I'm looking forward to seeing what ride she puts on us next!

The Dollhouse (Book 1) was one of last year's stand out debut psychological thrillers, the dark and twisted tale saw children abducted, kept hidden in a basement and forced to reenact family photos to satisfy their sick captors.

Ten years later survivors Angel and Olivia are active in leading Komorebi, a support network for survivors of abductions and the families affected by these crimes.
They are devastated when one of the members commits suicide, then a second suicide threatens to disturb everything they have worked for and all their progress towards recovery.

There are a lot of characters carrying over from the two earlier books, with the Dollhouse survivors, their family members, various FBI staff, characters from Book 2 and a lot of new characters, including all the Komorebi members. There are chapters told from the perspectives of multiple characters, and really I wish I had kept a list of who's who.

The style and structure is different from the two previous books, slower and the complex framework takes longer to set up. I'll happily admit I found it confusing and indirect at times, but it does comes together eventually and it wraps up quite nicely. There is less violence, fewer dark twisted moments and a much larger cast of characters.

Definitely read the first two books, you are really missing out, especially if you haven't read The Dollhouse.

Honestly, I was a little disappointed overall, but this an ambitious novel trying to balance multiple characters with the complex emotional impacts of surviving terrible life-changing crimes, it almost worked for me, but not quite.

Thanks to Sara Ennis

This is the final installment in the Duality series that all started with The Dollhouse. I'm so sad to say goodbye to these characters I have grown to know and love but it was wrapped up nicely and I have greatly enjoyed the ride.

As a series, this is a very dark, fast-paced thrill of a ride with twists and white-knuckled suspense. This final book in particular isn’t quite as dark as the previous two, with the majority of the really grim events described in the format of the characters’ case file interviews following their rescues.

This one felt a little different with the focus being on the survivors, the way they are coping, and how their lives will forever be changed by the traumatizing events they have lived through. The alternating POVs and the short chapters that I love had me flying through this book racing toward the end. I couldn’t wait to find out how it all concluded, while at the same time trying to savor the end of a series I have enjoyed immensely from start to finish.

If you are in the mood for a dark thriller, this series is one I will forever recommend. I would definitely suggest starting at the beginning and get to know these characters on a more personal level.

Thank you so much @saraenniswrites for having me on your ARC team for this series. I am honored to have the chance to review these and I can’t freaking wait to see what you have up your sleeve next!

The mercy: angel of death is already the third book in the Duality Series.
In this book Angel trains psychological service dogs and is content with living somewhere far away from and secretly to everyone. Her best friend and fellow survivor Olivia is a beloved author and talk-show host. She is married and lives a life full of people and love.
They’re both part of Komorebi, a private "club" of people who survived long-term captivity created by Peter Baden (dad of Olivia and Ben). Komorebi has two goals: to help loved ones living through the unthinkable and to help victims after recovery.
The plot is build up in an easy and relaxing pace, it contains several plots and ends surprisingly.
The chapters are written through the eyes of several people; Angel, Olivia, Peter, Nick etc.
The characters are, as usual for the Duality Series palpable and it is easy to imagine them.
from the beginning to a little over half way through the book it is a easygoing pace, not a lot of tension on the surface but you feel there's something coming up.
Then all of a sudden it grips you and there's no way to let it loose. Within seconds the story goes faster and faster and the tension gets higher.
Again Sara Ennis has written a strong, psychological thriller and I really hope it won't be her last.

HOW I FELT ABOUT THIS BOOK:

This is the 3rd and final book in the Duality. You can read any one of these as a stand alone, but I would recommend you read them as intended which is one after the other.

Sara Ennis does it again!! This book is slower than the others, and some would not give this book 5 stars because of that. I think the author knew what she was doing. The Doll House and The Hunted: Sins Of The Father are fast pace right in your face off the bat. You need to slow things down in the 3rd!

This book takes place 10 years after the Doll House. We find out that Angel has hidden away in a remote area and trains Psychological service dogs, while Olivia is in the spot light as an author and talk show host. Sara does a great job bringing us up to speed in what has happened with the main chractors. Just when you think things could not get anymore twisted, hold on to your seat! This time survivors are turning up dead? Could it be someone in thier own camp? This book like THe Hunted: Sins of The Father is told in multiple POV, and Sara does a great job with this again! This book is not as gruesome as the others, but it points you in the direction of Trauma and what that looks like. Sara captures what abuse is really like in all forms of the word. If you have not read this series, you need to!!!

Have you ever put down a book when you are finished and literally say WOW! This was my response when I finished THE MERCY: ANGEL OF DEATH, the final installment in the DUALIY series. I was feeling so many emotions! This one was my favorite!

The Mercy takes place 10 years after Angel and Olivia were held captive in the Dollhouse. Angel trains service dogs and Olivia is an author and talk show host. Peter, Olivia’s father, has created Komorebi, a private club to help victims who have survived violent crime and to offer support to the families of the victims. One by one, the survivors start dying by suicide. Are these really suicides or is there something more sinister happening?

I tend to have book amnesia and I was worried I would forget the cast of characters from the other two books, but I did not have any issues at all. Once I started reading, they were all familiar to me again.

This book was not as gruesome as the other two, and the pacing was slower. I really appreciated that with this storyline and it did not take away from my enjoyment at all. I also enjoyed the short chapters and I felt she did a great job detailing the members’ horrific stories.

The ending was fantastic and I felt genuine sadness that the series was over. I will miss Angel and all the other characters, and I hope to see some of them in future books!

I highly recommend the Duality Series starting with THE DOLLHOUSE, THE HUNTED: SINS OF THE FATHER, and ending with this one. These books will stay with you for a long time.

Thank you to Sara Ennis for my gifted copy! It has been both an honor and pleasure to be a part of your ARC team!

➡️READ THIS IF…..
✨You like the show Mary Kills People.
✨You like a story wrapped up in the end.
✨Multiple POV’s are your jam.

➡️THOUGHTS:
I love the Duality series! I read the Dollhouse on Net Galley and became obsessed with the characters and what was going to happen to them next. The amazing author sent me the second book, Hunted: Sins of the Father (thank you!) which was dark and extremely twisted and I loved it even more than the first book! Then Sara sent me the final installment of the series. ❤️❤️

This book was different from the other two in the sense that it wasn’t as gruesome and f*cked up. Yes- Angels of death are messed up for sure- but compared to the other two, this one felt a little lighter. I was shocked by who the Angel of Death was! Like WTF?! I wouldn’t have guessed it from the other two books. I was just as invested in the characters as I was with books 1 and 2, and was thrilled when CB made her appearance!

I LOVED the short chapters and the multiple points of view. I loved that were little snippets from the first two books to refresh my memory. I loved how the story wrapped up. I am sad to see the series end, but I am sooo happy for Angel and where her life is heading!

Well, Sara does it again! I LOVED this book. I LOVED this series. I am so sad it is over. I'm going to miss Angel and all the trouble that girl seems to find.

This book has some of our favorite characters from the first two books, and also introduces us to a few others! Even though there are quite a few characters it is easy to follow along and keep track of them. Everyone brings something to the story. It makes it more powerful! Like the other two books this one deals with some pretty heavy topics. I think Sara does a great job at navigating them. The story is told in multiple POVs and each POV you can feel each character. You get to know them. It is beautifully done. The chapters are short and sweet.

One of my favorite parts about the book is the fact Angel trains dogs. I'm a dog lover. I think it brought something extra to the book. It showcased just how important service dogs can be.

I cannot recommend this trilogy enough. I am seriously obsessed with it. Each book has been fantastic. If you like dark and twisty then what are you waiting for?
Thank you, Sara for letting me read your book!

4.5 rounded to 5 for goodreads
"It was terrible, but it's over, it's done. That's life right? God never gives us more than we can handle."

Holy Moly this book !! Although this book did start off slower than The Dollhouse and The Hunted: Sins of the Father, it did not disappoint. With this book we get the POV of Angel, Olivia, Peter, Nick and the "Angel of Death" 10 years after Angel and Olivia were held captive in Alfred's Dollhouse. I loved this because we got to see what their lives were like after this very dramatic experience and how it was different for all of them- survivors, family and law enforcement. I also loved that we got a peek into the lives of the other survivors, their time in captivity (which was definitely not lacking any gruesome details if thats what your after) and how they were coping afterwards as well... it was very interesting to see how everything coped differently- training dogs, being in the spotlight, going to school, never speaking again, never leaving the house, becoming a crazy psycho stalker- loved it !! Angel is definitely a favorite and I hope she gets weaved into more stories in the future!!

I was completely shocked by the ending and am also very sad that the series is ending!! I really cant't wait to see what Sara Ennis has in store for us next...
