I mean, it had all the cliché elements often seen in Chinese dogblooded novels. Starting with the Mary Sue female lead with perfect looks and perfect brains with Cinderella settings and rich, domineering male lead protecting his "little bride" from winds and rains.
I still wouldn't have minded that but the execution was just bad. Especially during the last part, the author rushed a bit so, many plotholes popped up. Various unnecessary plot points were introduced just to set off the female lead halo and to show how perfect the two main leads are for each other like the variety show and e-sports subarc.
The emotional development between Rong Xuan and Gu Ye wasn't handled well either. Mostly, Rong Xuan. Even now I am confused when her feelings for Gu Ye changed.
The synopsis is also pretty misleading as there is not much emotional conflict between the two leads. Not even in a good way. As one often misunderstood the situation, and the other was a like a block of wood.
However, there were also some good elements in here. I, at least, liked the first half. I was here to see how the male lead courts the female lead, as per the description of the synopsis. Unfortunately, it didn't last long. Well, at least, the OG FL wasn't shown as a bitch.
Overall, a short, meh, bingeworthy high-school novel. Though my favorite part of it was the ending cause it finally ended!
