Rachel Ferguson is living it up behind bars! Prison life suits her, and she spends her days relaxing, napping, and tormenting Prince Elliott. But though she relishes in her newfound freedom—and in watching Elliott fume—she decides it’s time to pack it in and crush the prince before he explodes!
Find out how Rachel concludes her dungeon vacation in Prison Life is Easy for a Villainess: Volume 2!
Man this lost the plot. While the first book isn't perfect, its a relatively enjoyable story about an idiot prince getting his comuppance while the so-called "Villainess" lives her Ideal Life (while inside a prison cell).
We still have a lot of clever tricks played and out maneuvering done, but this takes a turn for the perverted often. Whether its an entire chapter dedicated to one of the characters having to justify why he's not a pedo (he happens to like flat chests) to another half of chapter discussing the physical aspects of our dear Villainess, the story goes off the rails fairly often.
Additionally, while its nice to shine a spotlight on side characters this volume spends half the chapters doing that. Including a couple that are more discomfortingly abusive then amusing.
I enjoyed the chapter about what it was like cleaning up after various escapades (poor, poor Sophie) and the ongoing joke of everyone reading the exact of the situation with the monkey was fun. But overall this just wasn't as "prison life yay!" for me.
Contrary to the first book, repetition is key in this volume and the ending is quite surprising yet underwhelming.
In the second volume, we continue Rachel’s story from behind the prison bars whilst tormenting Prince Elliott and his crew from time to time. Throughout the events we’re also informed of Rachel’s superior reporting to the King, her ability to stay informed about everyone and we meet some of her slightly extreme friends. However, that all changes when the King and Queen finally decide to return to the kingdom.
This volume was quite enjoyable but not as great as the first volume overall. The tricks, out maneuvering and Rachel’s intelligence were enjoyable and at times surprising, however it got repetitive and boring fairly quick. There was no one who could match Rachel’s perfect planning and the results of Prince Elliot’s harassment always did end up the same way. This became repetitive and almost stale since as a reader, one could already anticipate what was going to occur.
Within the main three chapters there are multiple sub chapters. I found some of the sub chapters were off-topic and didn’t add to the overall plot. However, there were also some that helped develop the characters by pointing out their personalities or emotions towards certain elements. I liked the chapters discussing Margaret’s background and her reasoning for going after Prince Elliot as well as Rachel’s first interaction with Prince Elliot when they were kids.
I didn’t prefer reading about Martina, Sykes’s fiancée. Martina’s acts were a bit too extreme for me and sometimes I felt sympathetic for Sykes. I understand political marriages but I have to draw the line on the use of force and abuse.
Overall, this was a good read but it’s a bit sadistic for my tastes. I found the ending quite surprising and for some reason I wished there was someone who could compete with Rachel instead, or at least see Rachel becoming queen. I think this will probably be a hit or miss for many readers as some will enjoy an intelligent and cunning female lead while others may find the story repetitive which will overshadow Rachel’s dominance.
A quick read, but considerably worse than the first volume. The hijinks in this one were fairly stupid and went further over the top. It was already weird when she talked about how Margaret was an ideal punching bag, but in here it brings it up again, and it seems very grossly suggestive. Elliot and Margaret get spanked by the two old ladies and Rachel is upset because she wanted to be the first to spank Margaret. It goes on and on about her butt. 😒
It’s very sloppy writing. You can tell that it was written as short stories strung together, where the author is just putting together anything they find funny at the moment. Like the monkey, the scary grand duchess friend, Martina, Adam, Raymond, etc. All unnecessary and stupid, but comical in one way or another. I understand that none of it is realistic, but I prefer some consistency and logic that wasn’t being upheld here. Like Rachel having to take lessons on royal etiquette for hours at a time. Why wouldn’t she be done with them after years? Why are Elliot and all his friends so dumb? Why is Raymond so weird? How did Rachel hide her personality so well from her parents when she had no problem being her usual self in front of her maids?
There’s no point in engaging her to Raymond. If they want her to be queen they might as well adopt her into the royal family 🤷🏻♀️
I finished it because it was fast, but it wasn’t really worth the time when I have so many other books in my TBR like. The illustrations were also funky. One made her chest look super weird.

I love this series. It's obviously not the greatest piece of literature ever written or anything, but it's a lot of fun. In a sadistic way, yes, but still fun. Rachel is a hilarious main character who keeps me entertained the entire time, and so I flew through the majority of this book in one sitting.
The second volume sees the conclusion of Rachel's story. I was expecting her stupid fiancé and his cronies to harass her again only to get counterattacked, but the book does more than that. It delves into Margaret's background, and why she wants to snatch the prince from Rachel so badly. I feel like it could be a quite compelling story on its own, but this book isn't about her. We also get a glimpse into Rachel's past towards the end, to see what exactly happened between her and the prince when they were small. Unlike Margaret, however, little explanation is needed for Rachel's behavior aside from the fact that she is 100% a psychopath. There are also a few new characters introduced here, and all of them are horrible. That's why this is such a fun read. My favorite is Sykes' lovely fiancée, Martina the incarnation of love and death.
Oh, and Haley. Haley is cute.
In any case, the series has a pleasant ending. Pleasant for me, that is. And for Rachel, who gets Margaret as her new toy. Maybe not so much for the prince, but again… this isn't about him. All's well that ends well!
Don't bother with after book one(spoilers in review)
The first book was funny, but this book went to pot. All the women are either greedy manipulative weaklings or they are psychotic manipulative overpowered monsters. All the men are blundering whipped idiots. No one has any redeeming qualities and the shinanigans stopped being funny early on in this book. This would doesn't have magic, yet tiny girls magically can beat dozens of knights when they get jealous of their crushes. Almost every woman in a position of power somehow can both run circles around all the men combined, have more combat experience than any knight regardless of age, and has every one of their atrocious deeds ignored. It was funny when Rachel was mostly an outlier, kind of the exception that proves the rule, but once all the side characters started being that way it stopped being interesting.
As much as I enjoyed the first book, I think the second book sort of overstays its welcome. A lot of the same jokes are used, but they feel a bit dragged out. I ended up skimming some parts because I just didn't feel as engaged. It was still fun and had its moments, but they felt a touch too over the top compared to the last book. Of course, I still finished it and I still had fun at some points. But overall, this book had me feeling that "is this going to be over soon?" feeling at several points.
I do think though that this duology would make a fantastic one season anime adaptation.
The conclusion to Rachel's imprisonment. Most of the jokes are the same to volume 1, funny, but by now getting somewhat repetitive. I would still have given it 4 stars were it not for two things. Yandere Martina for me was one step too extreme even for a story like this. The flashback to the scene in which kid Rachel got into conflict with the prince felt superfluous and I had to force myself to read it. The last few pages were also a tad too chaotic/slapstick for my taste, but considering the few pages that covered it is does not really impact my overall view on the story.
It wasn't as funny as the first volume, but it was still enjoyable. Rachel and Prince Elliot are still continuing with their back and forth but the tricks they're playing have gone up several levels, some straight into perversion.
I liked reading about the Black Cats and the situation with Rachel's parents and the Royal couple but I didn't really enjoy reading about Martina. I thought she had a little too much screen time, to be honest.
Rachel is once again making the first prince look like an absolute imbecile from the comfort of her jail cell. His followers continue to be torn away from him all while Rachel sends reports to the royal parents, enjoying their luxurious hot springs stay while being kept abreast of the kingdom affairs. A very enjoyable read!
I have been waiting for this book since I first read the first one and it does not disappoint!! Only thing is that I wish there was more and if we could have seen some of the things she did as queen would have been great.
This volume was not as enjoyable as the first one. The plot devices were repetitive and the characters' actions too over the top to remain interesting and engaging. It was the wrong type of ridiculous for me. However, the drawings remained very pretty and readable.
If this was made into a TV show just need the one season over the 2 books it would probably be my favorite series. It is funny and different and 10/10 will read again and again
