Gavin grew up in Paarl, in South Africa’s Western Cape Province, an area renowned for its scenic beauty and viticulture. Whether it was the scenery, drinking his parents’ wine on the sly, or being surrounded by the smell of fresh ink and the hum of his father’s printing presses—or all of the above—Gavin felt strangely inspired to start writing when he was twelve years old.

“My father gave me this old Underwood Standard. I’ll never forget it. It had a sticky ‘s’ key that would periodically instigate a maul of type hammers and shredded ribbon.”

Gavin went on the study Architecture and ran a practice in South Africa before emigrating along with his family, to Christchurch, New Zealand. It’s there that he started taking up writing seriously and began work on his debut novel, Colour of Greed.
In 2008 he moved to the Gold Coast, Australia where he joined the Gold Coast Writers Association, serving as its president.
Colour of Greed went on to receive the Gold award for best fiction in Australia and New Zealand at the Independent Publisher Book Awards 2013.

“Writing can be an arduous and lonely journey. It is important to surround yourself with family and fellow writers who can support you along the way.”

Gavin still lives on the Gold Coast, working on his next thriller. A proud husband, father and grandfather.

Angie and her husband Chris are in the supermarket, doing their normal weekend shop. Nothing could be more normal, could it? How could everything change so quickly? One minute Chris was at the deli counter and watched Angie go down aisle five, then he couldn't find her. Where could she have gone?

Chris found himself telling security that his wife was missing. His mother was looking after the girls and he asked her to keep them overnight. Angie didn't return home. The next day security surveillance cameras were shown to Chris before the police were bought in. A strange man had forced her to leave the supermarket with him.

The nightmare had begun. Chris was interviewed by police and investigated for having something to do with his wife's disappearance.

Until the day Chris drove to Angie's mother's house and retrieved photos of his wife as a young girl, he didn't know Angie had a twin sister. Her name was Simone. Only Angie knew she had a psychopathic personality.

Near the airport in an abandoned warehouse Angie was chained to a bed, barely fed, wondering who had kidnapped her. The guy who led her to the toilet insisted he was in charge, but Angie heard him argue with a woman. When the woman walked into her prison cell, Angie knew she had to escape.

Chris endured a funeral after Angie's body had been found. The girls were grieving and he couldn't believe his good fortune when another woman was found. Chris had a second chance. He found himself wondering how long the woman he was married to would stop having headaches. She acted differently and did things she never used to do.

The twist at the end of the book was heart-pounding. Again, this book would make a wonderful movie. Send it out there Gavin. It would make a great crime thriller.
