Rory: Mountain Man And Longhunter: Mountain Apprenticeship: A Western Adventure

Rate this book
The seventh Mountain Man adventure with Mountain Man and Longhunter from Mike Mackessy has arrived!

Rory is the mountain man the Penny Dreadful has named Rory Yellowstone. He hates the name and refuses to use it. Cara is his third daughter, the one that takes after her pa the most. She also seems to attract the same kind of trouble Rory does. Like her pa, trouble and problems only make her stronger.

Rory sends her to take delivery of horses he bought in Texas. The crooked sheriff and mayor frame her for rustling. They do not know who she is nor who her pa is. When Rory, her brothers, and a group of ranch hands reach that town to escort Cara and the horses, well, Cara has handled the problem in her typical way—before Rory rides into town.

Cara needs a break. She and her favorite ranch hand retreat to the mountains for a year. She cannot evade problems; they follow her into the high lonesome. She returns to the ranch in time to help move a herd of horses Rory sold to the US Cavalry in time for the Mexican War. And of course, her problems follow her.

Cara uses grizzly bears, Cheyenne warriors, knuckle-headed immigrants, and a family of women who should have stayed in the East. Cara’s adversity is her apprenticeship to mountain life.

Rory's part in this compassionately motivated story is limited, but the excitement is not abated!

Another five star masterpiece by Mr. Mackessy, as this compelling series of unending excitement will appease anyone's desired expectations cover to cover! Rory is responsible to send 75 horses to the U S Army, but his men were tracked down after receiving their payment for the mustangs! Then the fun begins!
Outstanding storylines throughout this compelling western folklore extravaganza as the Author goes above and beyond in his descriptive renditions of unending gunfighting excursions! Too, his superbly selections of characters are unsurpassed in their commanding assignments, both good guys and the bad guys!
I definitely recommend this compassionately, and heartwarming, story to everyone, but you western folklore lovers will definitely enjoy following these dedicated cattlemen, as they continuously fulfill your desired reading expectations! Even you non-western enthusiasts will find yourselves completely entertained following these dedicated cattlemen, when they are consistently confronted by outlaws and Indians alike!!!😃

Good read

Starting a new book with a similarly new author (to me anyway) can be a journey in and of itself. I am happy to say however that I very much enjoyed both the writing and the author's style of writing. Now I am anxious to read the next in the series.

Another good story.

I like it when an author expands the characters with younger people in order to keep a story going , such as the two young ladies that become orphans.
