That’s what happens when tragedy strikes where you least expect it.
I thought I would be okay. That I could handle anything.
I was wrong.
Revenge is the name the game now. If you’re not with me, you’re against me.
Get ready to enter Hell.

She’s different.
Angry and dark. Something happened and we won’t stop until we figure it out.
She’s our girl, even if she doesn’t know it. And NO ONE hurts her.
When we find out what happened, the person(s) responsible better run. We aren’t nearly as golden as everyone thinks we are.
*This is a reverse harem romance with bully elements. If you don't like dark themes and the main character ending up with more than one character, this may not be the book for you. Please take this warning seriously because there WILL be triggers inside these pages.*
I’m sorry but…Ug she was such a push over. “These boys made my life hell for YEARS but nope they were doing it for my protection so it’s okayyyy” *sigh*

⚠️ Make sure to read warnings before going in. Non-con (outside harem), torture, murder. ⚠️
If, like me, you enjoy dark books, then give this one a try! This was a pretty quick read, and I devoured it in one sitting. It flows well, and was easy to get caught up in.
Poor Carly. The things she had to go through and put up with were harrowing, and some parts were hard to read. But it didn't break her, and the revenge was sweet. My dark little heart actually wanted more, but was very much satisfied with how it went down.
I wanted to like it but I really couldn’t...You definitely have to be ok with the hard stuff but I couldn’t with this book because I did not enjoy the continued sexual assault- especially when the guys are “in love” with her?! It’s shocking really that they would continue to let it happen. And even stand being in the same room with the f*cker. I also did not care for the title, didn’t really fit in my opinion.

This was a wild, fast-paced, and somewhat dark read about a FMC being put through the wringer and then getting revenge against those who did her wrong (with the help of her harem, who have been her bullies for the past several years to “protect” her). **All of the non-con in this, which there is a lot of, occurs outside the harem, which I think is important to note.**
I really love revenge stories, especially sexual assault/rape revenge stories. I love seeing the FMC get revenge, be ruthless, and go after her attacker(s) and start to heal. It’s so satisfying. And when the love interest(s)/harem join in and help the FMC get her revenge… even better!! And that is what we got in this book, but (and this was a big, unexpected “but,” at least for me), once the MMCs find out the FMC is being assaulted, THEY CONTINUE TO LET IT HAPPEN😳😤😡🤬. WTF?! I mean of course none of them wanted it to happen, and within the realm of this story, I get why it continued to happen but still that’s no excuse. There is no excuse. Ughhhh it made me so f*cking mad I almost DNFed it. This is not how I wanted or expected things to play out. But, I’m glad the FMC got her revenge in the end (which was pretty gruesome btw), because damn was she put through the f*cking wringer in this gheezus. She did not get a break, and it was hard to read at times because of this. Also, I don’t know how I felt about her or the MMCs. I liked them but not as much as I wanted to. I mean… They treated her horribly for three years to “protect” her (which I didn’t entirely understand; I mean why her?) and made her life miserable. They didn’t do enough groveling imo, and she forgave them and accepted things far too easily… which I guess I understand, given how fast things moved.
Overall, I enjoyed reading this. I liked the premise, the fast pace, the multi POV, and the revenge aspect, and it kept my attention. But, I think there was room for improvement in terms of the writing, the overall story, the characters, and the relationship development.

It honestly feels like the center of the story Arc is missing. There's literally a single page where the FMC goes from outraged hated (deserved) to complete forgiveness, and within a few more pages, love. If you need to make it longer to give a complete story, make it longer. This just seemed like half an effort to make money off shock value.
*SPOILERS*
The FMC is delivered a file about the guys, FROM THE GUYS, but we don't know what and we never find out. But it's apparently enough for 3-4 years of bullying (and assault) to just suddenly be fine. Ongoing rape is just left to continue because it's not time for then to be able to escape yet. Supposedly their parents run the totem and are horrible criminals... But we never see that. Just one sleazy father who paid someone to assault hey and have his blessing for him too continue doing it. I say it had potential because if there was SOME SHOW of how awful and dangerous and wiser reaching their parents reaches are, then MAYBE I could understand how they can let that continue to happen to the girl they're supposed to love. Stage an accident. Fake an assault victim coming forward to get the predator out of the picture and away from your girl. SOMETHING. NOT let her continue to be raped daily because you're scared of your daddy. I could get behind some MMCs who were prepared to go to prison or die to protect her, but this... They're just weak and pathetic. They should be willing to die to save her. I'd gladly risk my life to save one girl from that hell, or spend the rest of my life in prison. Especially if it was someone I cared about. So... Just no. Weak MMCs, and no development throughout the story. Just a switch flipped halfway through. Needs to be developed and edited. Big time.
This is what I get when I keyword search Halloween reverse harem on Amazon. Up until the half way mark I was iffing and umming if I should break my resolution and DNF. This was some messed up shit. It takes picking on the girl you like to the extreme. Four boys whose families run the town, breaking a girl down for her own good. Yeah, BS right there. Add in a rapist teacher that no one questions and it's hell for Carly. The rape is graphic and is continuous. The guys that know everything? Know F all, until the parent's prove why they need to be dealt with.
There wasn't enough grovelling, if any for my liking. The evidence protection folder was all it took? Although better the devils you know that the other filth I suppose. I didn't like that Carly still had to go through her ordeal for escape planning. The revenge was interesting, and also graphic in a what comes around goes around way. At that point the guys felt like a cheer squad, whilst Carly delivered her revenge. It was interesting and I'm glad there was a HEA. The beginning though was a slog to get through.

• graphic rape is a dealbreaker for me. • the Hs having bullied and socially isolated her for three years "to protect her from their families". uhmm... PRETTY sure it would've protected her too if they'd just ignored her?? like, are you telling me they know each and every student in their classes personally and that they're all on the Hs' parents' radar because they're NOT being bullied ?? i don't get it. • some of the heroes physically abuse her (still "to protect her"). • the last straw for me was the heroine reading some folder with "evidence" that the heroes were protecting her all these years. she gets hope in her eyes. HOPE. are you fucking joking. i just Know she's gonna forgive them in 2.5 seconds, and they won't need to grovel.

This book is rough. On going graphic rape of the fmc and physical abuse from the male main characters to the fmc. This book may be to some people’s taste but it’s too dark for me.
This book was dark. Like really dark. It's important that you don't go into the book thinking that the trigger warnings are just suggestions. There are REALLY graphic depictions of non-con in this book that are upsetting and while they spur on the character's desire for revenge, they are definitely not to be taken lightly. Carly is a loner in this book and it is alluded to that the four "golden boys" at her school have been her tormenters for years. Upon discovering her assault at the hands of a teacher, they instead become her saviors, because they have secretly been longing for her and want to see justice served. While the premise is a bit far-fetched and the scenes are graphic and can be triggering, I found the story to be interesting and enjoyed the book for a specific reason--the main character takes action and gets revenge on her abuser(s). Stories like that can be really cathartic and provide a much needed release for some and I liked the ending. That being said, this book will not be for everyone, and should not be entered into lightly. It is incredibly dark and disturbing.
3.5 stars I love dark, so beware when entering this sick & twisted revenge story.
Honestly, it was a little too fast paced. The characters and back story just weren't as developed so it was harder to relate and understand their actions.
Also, it was too similar to another HS reverse harem where there were 4 wealthy, controlling families who ruled the town and their sons who ruled the school. The revenge part was the only difference.
Otherwise, the revenge was well deserved and I was quite anxious to see it all play out. The end wrapped up quickly but at least it was a decent HEA.
It may be a great story for some but unfortunately this one fell a little short for me. I'll still try more by this author. I liked her creativity and writing style.
A tale of when your four tormentors become your saviors… JFC everything that Carly had to endure was truly gut wrenching and tore my heart to absolute pieces at one point I wasn’t sure I was going to make it. But this story is truly something else. This authors ability to make you feel every emotion her characters are going through is truly something special and let me tell you, you are going to be put through the ringer. Getting to see everyone’s POV truly heightened your reading experience because not everything is what it appears to be. This was such a great read and I highly recommend!
Cassie has created a dark, devious enticing twist on the standard enemies to lovers trope. This is an exploration into classisim, control and manipulation. The heads of the founding families are rotten to the core but they control everything and everyone. Anyone who isn't family is beneath them and shall at all times be reminded of that by any means necessary, blackmail, manipulation, murder and more.
Carly has lived through her own personal hell or so she through since her family moved to town. Her parents are neglectful at best and know nothing of what she's suffered or that a life altering event happened one day during the summer holidays. She was a breath of untainted fresh air in this caustic town, until the darkness shredded her soul.
The Golden Boys Bishop, Sean, Evan and Mark, the sons of the founding families. They use their power and status to rule the town and every mere mortal in it. Their darkness has been harnessed and honed by their parent's, they have been moulded into weapons that they weild to maintain power.
The victim of bullying for years Carly kept her head down, even isolated and alone she focused on her escape from this suffocating town. That was until she was shattered and with nothing left to lose she started to fight back and shocked everyone. The thing she didn't realise is things are not as they appear, the Golden Boys do not hate her, they do not want to end her, they gravitate towards her pulled in by her soul. They have watched her for years and they see every minute change in her, they know something has happened and set out to findout what.
Carly is a broken angel who calls to your heart and the boys are her demons ready to wreak havoc at her command. This world will pull you in and these characters make you feel their agony, their heart ache and their passion. Their revenge is brilliant and utterly deserved, I was there for every second of it!!!
I’m in two minds about this book. The concept of revenge is sweet and exacted appropriately for the crimes (IMO) against the FMC, Carly. The storyline and characters were well portrayed.
But...the book deals with a very real and sensitive subject - assault and ongoing abuse - and I’m not sure the brevity of the situations was sensitively portrayed. I find the ‘forgiveness’ of Carly’s bullies into becoming her greatest champions wasn’t remotely realistic irrespective of the vague reasonings behind their behaviour and the final outcome rushed and unrealistic.
Yes, I know this is a work of fiction so license is given to the author to write the story as she sees fit and I appreciate that, however I like to read my fiction - however dark and twisted that might be - with a semblance of reality attached and I found this to be skirting the definition of that.
Therefore I’m giving this read 3.5 stars cause the revenge was soooo sweet. I do recommend this as an interesting read and I will give the author another go.
Holy wow, Cassie!!! Yess!! Trick or Revenge is amazing!! It's a standalone (in a series of standalones), hs bully, rh, revenge arc, enemies to lovers, and a little steamy.
Carly has had a rough time for the past few years. She's bullied by the Golden Boys - Bishop, Sean, Evan and Mark. Not everything is quite what it seems though. I absolutely love the dynamics that the guys and Carly.
Carly is at the end of her rope, so she begins to take a stand against her bullies. She has gone from a quiet girl, to not putting up with them. She's had enough and she's ready for her revenge.
The guys are just *sigh*... I love Bishop and I need a Sean 🤣🤣 To the outside world, Carly is beneath them, but when you read from their POV, you can tell she is their world. The Golden Boys will do whatever it takes to keep her safe.
I want to say that Trick or Revenge is dark. There's lots of TW and heed them before beginning. If you love a dark revenge story, read it, but be warned that to get to that final moment, it's a rough journey.
This was so different from the RH read this year and it was much darker. It was a hard read and I finished it in one sitting as I could not put it down.
I really recommend you read the trigger warnings before reading this book as it was a lot. The story was compelling and in the end, Carly gets her revenge on the SA she endured I was right with her on all the pain she inflicted on him as it was well deserved.
I am still confused about what the actual reasons were that all the guy's parents wanted Carly to break her or what actually goes on in the town for it to be corrupted and why they are so powerful. Maybe I missed it.
However, all the guys' Bishop, Sean, Mark and Evan love and are protective, especially letting her have the revenge she needed to start healing and a long road ahead of them.

This book was an incredible work of art. Carly being preyed upon after dealing with bullies has heart wrenching. But the bullies had a method behind their madness and when the four golden boys find out what their girl is going through and dealing with…….they become demons.
The story line flowed so easy and the author did an incredible job with emotions to the point you could feel it bleeding off the pages and just being in the moment. Some were 😭 and others were 🥵 but ultimately this book was incredible!
This ends with an HEA. There will be two other books in this series of standalones following different people.
First of all, it is really important to heed the trigger warnings here !
I was not expecting this story to be honest and it was so hard at times. The FMC goes through so much (most of it I wasn't prepared for) but she never gave up and I was seriously cheering for her as she well deserved it.
The guys had their own vulnerabilities and they probably didn't handle things the right way but they did their best.
I was interested by the story and the author managed to treat a difficult subject correctly and in a believable way even if it felt a bit rushed towards the end. A solid read for sure.
OK, first off this is a very, very dark book and a serious trigger warning is there, take heed if noncon is a thing as it is a big part of the story - its absolutely not within the harem though.
I was so with Carly and the guys by the end, just be aware how dark this is! If you love dark, depraved, bloodthirsty, as well as alpha males who love the MC so much they do everything they can to protect her as best they can..... Seriously it's a brilliant read, but in many places a difficult one because some of the scenes are very hard to read, but if you can without triggering yourself then I highly recommend it - pick it up and read it!!.....
If you have any triggers when it comes to rape, do not read this book. Carley has been through hell all alone and being bullied. The four guys being her tormentors finally break down and tell her how they actually feel. Revenge is what she's after and she does get it, but its all kinds of fucked up.Good book but wished it would have went through her childhood a little more and focused on why her parents act the way they do and what has happened With the guys before this for four years.
Woah. This story was incredible. HEED THE TRIGGER WARNINGS. They are there for a reason. But the characters are compelling, the story is heartbreaking, and the ending is satisfying. Carly’s transformation throughout the book is crazy. She’s so strong and endures more than anyone should ever have to. Bishop, Sean, Mark, and Evan are a big part of that transformation and help Carly on her journey to healing. This is a very dark story, but it is definitely worth the read if you’re up for that.
The plot was great. Something happens over the summer for FMC and she is forced to deal with it everyday. Along with dealing with her 4 bullies. Definitely check for the trigger warnings. I loved the steamy scenes. I didn’t like that some parts were kind of glossed over but maybe that’s because it’s a stand-alone. I would recommend though. Great job to the author. I’m on my way to check out more of her stuff.
3⭐ This was ok. Not what I thought first when I start. A few years ago I would have like it very much. After reading reviews I was expecting really good dark, RH and bloodshed story. There was that dark side yes. Rape, bully, murder and blood. But it was too small for a story like this. There was too much and really fast. And I didn't like H...or boys 😂
Oh my... I don't even know where to begin with this one. I love her books, so I pre ordered this as soon as the link showed up and again, it didn't disappoint.
It's dark, twisted, and hot as sin. In this story, we follow Carly. After something happens to her during the summer break, she decides to fight back. Especially against the rules that we're made up by the four guys. I don't want to spoiler too much, because it takes a turn that I didn't expect. Read the book, you won't regret it.
Please read the trigger warnings. It's there for a reason.
This was definitely dark. The detailed scenes were horrific.
I don't really know why but to me it seems weird that Carly was able to forgive the boys so easily for their bullying even though they said they were protecting her. And how could she have gotten so quickly with them while Steven was.. well you know?
The revenge was the best part of the book though. And at least the FMC is happy.
That was rough. Big content warning on this one. However, it was darkly satisfying and I really enjoyed the author's voice. There were a few instances where my suspension of disbelief was pushed towards the bounds of credulity, but it was worth going with it. I do wish the relationship was built up more and the guys had leveraged their position to run interference for the heroine a bit. As it is the male main characters were mostly accessories for the heroine to get her revenge and take back her sexual life. That was nice on the horror side of things but left the romance side a little flat.
Very much horror with romance. There is a second book with new characters but I think I will hold off and read the author's dark but not quite that dark (if I am reading the description properly) series first.
3.5 stars The book was too small to enjoy the craziness that it had the potential to be. And please please please read TRIGGER WARNINGS before you go into the book. There is a lot of rape happening, a lot of it, and the FMC has to go through it for over 2.5 months.
I knew going into this book that it was dark but it might be the darkest I’ve read…some parts were hard to read. Carly has a very rough life but I’m glad she got her happily ever after with her Golden Boys! I loved this book (even when it tore my heart out) and I can’t wait for the next one!
