In the House of a Demon

Rate this book
This shocking true story of an abducted child’s harrowing struggle for survival amidst a horrific Soviet military experiment is a raw examination of the atrocities of war, the resilience of spirit, and the existence of the supernatural.

When an unfamiliar hand grabbed Tina Soctoy by the shoulder in the woods near her home at age 6, she suddenly found herself far from her family, disoriented, and imprisoned in the home of a Soviet Military operative. His mission was to turn her into a merciless weapon of war. Her mission was to survive.

In horrifying detail, Soctoy recounts the terrifying circumstances of her captivity—from the physical, emotional, and sexual abuse she endured to the drug-fueled manipulation. Tina’s tiny body and mind are pushed to the brink by her merciless prisoner.

The first of a harrowing memoir series, In the House of a Demon , is guaranteed to leave readers rapt for more of Tina’s tale.

Disjointed, Confusing

This book definitely has brutality in it due to the kidnapping, abuse, mind games towards a young little girl. THAT is repulsive as NO ONE should EVER cause a child harm! At the same time, this book is also confusing --and I am a fairly well educated person. There is no background story as to who this little girl is, what her life is like at home, why she was unsupervised to begin with and WHY these men kidnapped her? They don't seem at all interested in asking for ransom and they haven't taken her life thankfully! Yet their purpose doesn't seem to be to acquire some child solely for abusive purposes.
Not a book for me for a variety of reasons and if this book is indeed true, I pray this child survived and was given extensive therapy and love!

War demon

This is a hard book to read as it is a memoir and recounts the harrowing experience of a young girl as she is kidnapped, and held captive by a Soviet Operative. She is beaten, starved, assaulted, tortured and more in an attempt to mold her into the next generation assassin. So much of the book might seem far fetched but humanity is darker than what you might think. Regardless of the triggers in this book, this was important for people to read about to know what we all must fight against. I am looking forward to the next book to see how the author fares.

A very disturbing book!

As told by a young girl who has been taken from her home somehow but you never find out why in this first of three books. I found myself having to really pay attention because you think there is only one man she has to deal with but there are a number of others as well. This book isn’t for everyone, but it certainly has my attention. I have to know what becomes of her.

Not what I was expecting

Having read the reviews I was expecting a really good read but all I got was "eat" and "sleep" they where the only words I remember from the book. It was beyond boring and as for some reviews raving about the second half of the book, well things didn't change in my opinion it got more boring 💤

I gave this only 3 stars because I was always confused. I didn't understand how many people where involved and what they were doing. It us all vague. I get it the little girl is being drugged and violated. It seems as if it is some sort of experiment, although it is never clear. I am going to read the 2 and 3rd books hoping for anawers.
