“Hermione Granger and Draco Malfoy have been hiding a secret for the past five years. Something brought them together during sixth year and then the war ripped them apart. Four years after Voldemort’s defeat, Hermione is married to Ron Weasley and Draco has recently married Astoria Greengrass. When they reconnect at the annual Victory Ball, Hermione tells Draco something about himself that he never knew, and it explains why he’s been dreaming of her since he let her go…

Is it possible that Fate herself tried to unite the two sides through Hermione and Draco? How did all of this begin in the first place? Can their damaged bond be repaired five years later?”

So I want to take a moment to commend anyone who writes a complete fic and posts their writing for free, for anyone to enjoy. Even though I appreciated the premise of the fic, I had issues with the story and juvenile writing. The reason I’m drawn to A/B/O fics is because it deals with extremes. Extreme obsession and passion that results in extreme behavior. The writer of this fic is so concerned with consent and making sure the reader knows everyone is on board with all the sex and what comes with it, that it takes away from the passion and obsession that usually comes with a/b/o fics. The reader is constantly reminded that Hermione was the first to initiate sex with Draco in 6th year. Draco constantly “checks in” with Hermione throughout the fic- triple checking to see if she’s okay with intimacy. It made Draco come off as more beta than alpha. He doesn’t really take charge and when he did (paying off Ron) it was only after Hermione exhausted every effort and he couldn’t handle seeing her in pain anymore. And yet- Hermione still punished him for it and I still am not convinced she feels she was in the wrong. Actually, Hermione could do no wrong in this fic. She had zero character growth. By the end of the fic, she should’ve learned that she needs to be better at communicating with people and not freezing them out, and also accepting help and care from Draco. She doesn’t need to be an independent, fierce lioness all the time. We are constantly told how great and amazing she is. It’s so annoying, I started hating her. Finally, this fic was drawn out. Most of the story is- something happens then that something is retold to everyone by both Draco and Hermione. By the end of the story, Hermione and Draco had told everyone, including the Wizengamot, how they got together in 6th year and reconnected at the Victory Ball. Moreover. we are also told again and again what happened in the elevator with Cormac. Ron getting a happy ending didn’t sit well with me and I didn’t really like how his entire family was upset with him on Hermione’s behalf-because Hermione can do no wrong- when realistically, there should’ve been some sadness and frustration on Ron’s behalf-not that I agree with his actions at all- because that’s his family. Instead we’re supposed to believe they were all okay with Ron marrying Hermione even though they all knew it wouldn’t last??? Overall, this fic left me frustrated and annoyed, but I’m glad I didn’t dnf just so I could write this review. Do not recommend. Not my cup of tea.

5⭐️ Wow this was amazing!!! This is an alpha/omega trope story and I couldn’t put it down! It’s also a very soft enemies to lovers as well. I LOVED how we got to see the Dramione relationship evolve from 6th year (as flash backs) through to adulthood. They had many trials to over come such as the war, marrying separate people, and the alpha/omega laws. A few points in the story it got a little tedious with info we already knew, or drawn out conversations but it wasn’t enough to detract. This also is written from Hermione and Dracos POV!
This story is unique in that it’s slow burn but it also has smut right off the bat! And once you get into the smut…. It’s SMUT CENTRAL. 🥵🥵🥵🌶🌶🌶I really loved how Hermiones omega inner monologues font was petite and italicized, and dracos commanding alpha was bolded. There was definitely angst through out the story, but I enjoyed it when I usually am not crazy about it. We got a great ending to the story too. SO GOOD!!
Worth the read?: YES

DNFing at Chapter 38

Was the concept intriguing? Yes. Am I usually real trash for fated mates and A/B/O Dramione (even though I've only read one other fic in this genre)? A million times yes.

But I'm struggling with the writing style which, combined with a real lack of any semblance of tension or risk, means I'm gonna give this one a pass. Maybe I'll return in future, but right now I keep wanting to read other things. So I'm going to.

I was so hooked from the beginning. I've only read one other omega/alpha fanfic before wasn't sure if I liked that trope so I started looking for others. There was things I loved at the start like the dual POV and its equal amount POV!! I loved the different text style for the omega/alpha voices. I loved the flashbacks but once they were together in present day I lost interest there was a lot of drama and the bite was being dragged out. I skipped to the end of the book. So 3.5 stars. Well done.
