The New Adult novel with a growing cult following, as ‘Lonely Jodee’ as her friend calls her, is nineteen and in her first year at university, but living alone in the countryside. Her life changes one night when normality meets her dream world, when fantasy became an obscure type of reality, when an embarrassed life becomes science-fiction, naivety becomes humour, and fear became comfort. Will this glance through the looking-glass help Jodee find her dream state, her true love and her bodily freedom or will the lessons learned on planets far and wide teach her nothing? With glimpses of pain, humour, embarrassment and growth, sprinkled with the occasional brief erotic interlude, will Jodee finally find herself in this alien romance? With glances of Alice, references to Warhol and her torrid time of heart tugging of her love for two men, Jodee’s life is never going to be as ordinary as it once was, as she searches for who she is. But could it be that her Alien Affair improves her Earth life?
Stephenson Holt is an author that physically writes between 5am and 8am each morning, leaving that painting to sketch and dream for the rest of the day. Sometimes he returns into normality but not for long periods. For most of his life he is constructing one novel while sketching the next novel – it keeps the mind fresh. His favourite sketch and dream places are;- I. Lying on a beach listening to the waves. II. A favourite armchair in the conservatory with heavy rain on the roof. III. Laying in a hot bath staring at a tiled wall. IV. Sitting next to a canal where he used to fish as a boy. V. Motorway driving. VI. That chair in the corner of the greenhouse, shielded from the sun by that grapevine and next to the olive tree, full of bird feeders. VII. Gardening with a corner of his eye on the sparrow returning to the nest in the eaves above him and imagining he’s the sparrow looking down on himself. VIII. Running a familiar route where he doesn’t have to concentrate on where he’s going.
When stuck for inspiration he will;- I. Listen to an episode of “The Invisible College” a series of ten minute podcasts from BBC Radio 4 that sit nicely on an iPod. II. Listen to a three album collection converted to CD of Jack Kerouac reciting and backed by either piano or saxophone. Including “Poetry for the beat generation” and “American Haikus.” III. Fight like a superhero with a six year old grandson. IV. Walk in the hills.
I love alien romances. This book isn’t simply an alien romance. There are so many themes. There is the theme of self discovery, body positivity, self doubt, acceptance, and loved for who you are. Not only that, the reader is taken on a ride to so many planets and different ways of life. On one planet, women rule supreme, while on another planet, men canbuy women and sell them as they please. I loved so much about this book, especially the computer that could mentally communicate. I don’t wanna give away too much, but the ending is bitter sweet. So, you might want to read the ending with a box of tissues. The story is definitely for people who enjoy unpredictable Romance is that our spicy and full of adventure!
When shy girl Jodee meets an alien that she decides to call Steve after a crush she has it starts a mind bendingly bonkers journey thorough space and back again. Getting to fulfil her sexual fantasies along the way she ends up a completely changed woman in more ways than one. There was some genuine laugh out loud moments especially as Steve and his computer learn human traditions and get hopelessly confused. The sex scenes are explicit but told in great detail. The writing is fast paced making this a thrilling read.
What a great book. I enjoy the fact author started writing from the beginning without going into too much detail about each character, and you straight away find yourself inside the storyline.
One book with so many possibilities of finish as you go forward unless you are one of the readers who like to learn about the end without reading the whole book.
I enjoyed the use of humour all throughout the book. Bravo. Look forward for future works from Stephenson. 🙂
I enjoyed reading this book and there was some genuine laugh-out-loud moment in this story about a relationship between a student named Jodee and an alien.
Also, this book is very unique and provides the theme of self-discovery in Jodee's character, how she accepts and loved her body just the way she is. This is a really fun book to read. A very well-written and page-turning story I could say. Great work!
Holt weaves a fantastic erotic alien romance that is no ordinary tale. It's fully of a woman's adventure into self-discovery, sexuality and self-love. With one book you'll experience the wonder of different worlds. It's wonderfully written with excellent characters and a happily ever after. Holt has a truly vivid imagination that is demonstrated through his writing! Can't wait for more!
A unique science fiction story about a relationship between a student named Jodee and an alien who has fallen to earth. Jodee goes to places she never could have imagined, diving into her deepest fantasies she never knew had existed. This original fast moving book is witty and well-written.
In short, the main character falls in with an alien and his computer controller, and their talk and assumptions about sex are hilarious. She does really love him, and he performs beyond her wildest imagination, since, with access to great insight and information, he knows just how. The story moves along well and you end up feeling her extraterrestrial adventure was good for her.
The unique writing style this author has is fantastic and gripping from the first page. I’ve never been one for alien based novels but I’m so glad I took a chance on this one. The character development was excellent and I love the relationship between Jodee and Steve. I need the second instalment and fast. I’ve read some of this authors other books and have never been disappointed - easy 5 stars
Interesting read about a relationship between a student and an alien. As a fan of the slightly more bonkers kind of stories out there, this was definitely my cup of tea. Quite funny at times, too. Thumbs up

Jodee is lonely, she dreams of Steve being the man of her life and by POD she is teleported to a different place where she meets a Alien who resembles Steve. She is trying to discover her sexuality as well she is in search of beloved. Finally after a huge roller coaster ride she ends up being Mrs Steve Bradley. She finally has her desires fulfilled as well feels loved. This novel is set up in Alien world which helps our imagination to take to various places but the final message is no matter where the emotions and feelings remain the same.
The writing style and narrative is amazing as well flawless.
