I was the gorgon that everyone loved to hate.

Born the weakest of all my kind,
I never knew love or pleasure until him;
The lust he inspired in me was unlike anything I ever expected

This mountain man, this wolf, this beast
He came to the mountain to make his own path
But now he says I'm destined to be his.

He swears he'll protect me
That he will keep me safe and satisfied
But I know that love breaks all but the strongest of us

And they've always called me weak.

Great start to a new series. I enjoyed the chemistry between these two well-developed characters and found it hard to put the book down. Well worth the read.

Lucas and Penelope . . .

When her car breaks down at 2 a.m. Penelope Carter walks a mile and a half in the snow to a bar in the dark night to access a phone and get some help. Before she can ask for a phone, the grouchy bartender snarls at her to call a tow truck. She reached out to shake his hand because she had heard you are more likely to get help if a person shakes your hand. Instead, heat rolled through her and her knees went weak. He wouldn’t let go of her hand as he asked what she was. Being half-human and half-gorgon, she didn’t have the strength to pull away from his grip. Lucas Argent pulled her against him and sniffed her neck deeply… and said she smelled like stone! Not a troll but something else. When he let go of her, he looked into her eyes, her magic surged, and as he whispered “Gorgon”, she turned him into stone.

The moment he had touched her, Lucas knew he didn’t want to let her go. His wolf was ready to mate with her. But he could not move as his body turned to stone and she ran out the door into the snow. Gorgons were from the line of Medusa. If he had been human, he would remain stone forever or until a mage freed him. But a werewolf was already considered “cursed” and his beast pushed against the stone to break it away. He chased after her, but the snow dissipated her scent and he had only her footprints to follow. An hour later, he had still not found her but then he heard her scream. A 12-foot troll had carried her away was heading up the mountain. A troll is almost stone naturally, so even her gaze would not affect him. When a wolf suddenly attacked, it knocked the troll over as it tightened its hold on her and her bones snapped.

The troll was strong and powerful, but the werewolf was fast and angry. But both healed almost immediately after being wounded. With the snake blood in her species, the cold slowed down Penelope’s healing and she was barely able to breathe with the broken ribs. She whispered “cold” and her wolf heard and his eyes began to shimmer. He slammed a fist under the troll’s jaw and something snapped, two more strikes in that spot and the troll was out. Half man, half-beast, he carried her carefully down the mountain and back to the bar. Gorgons were notorious for their hatred of men in general, and werewolves in particular. When he got her warm in the tub and fed, would she be ready to talk about their situation? Would she accept him, despite being taught all her life to hate men?

There is much more to their story, but I believe this should be enough to get your interest. Lucas will need all the patience he can gather to win his mate’s heart. Grab your copy and see how their story turns out.

This book was amazing and the characters had me rooting for them right from the beginning and until the very end. Penelope Carter has always been treated badly by her family for being weak especially from her mother and so she runs away but her car breaks down and she has to walk quite awhile before she see a bar and goes inside to ask for a phone to call for help and the bartender is very rude but she was taught to shake hands because it helps to get what you want but never had she ever touched a man that made her feel hot and bothered and weak at the knees all at the same time and when he asked what she was and whispered Gorgon and she panics and turns him into stone and runs away. Lucas Argent is a werewolf shifter and the owner of the bar that a human female just entered but there is something different about her and when she asks for the phone to call for help she offers her hand to shake his to thank him but as soon as they touch his wolf is howling mate and then he sniffs her he realises what she is and whisperers Gorgon and she turns him to stone and runs off but he’s not human thank god because if he was he could break the stone that’s holding him, now he must find his mate and gives chase and soon finds her being carried away by a huge troll up the mountain and must save her from being eaten and so his wolf attacks and brings the troll down saving her but she is hurt and freezing and takes her back to the bar and to his room the warm her up and then feed her and hopefully to explain what she means to him, after talking with Lucas Penelope realises he would never hurt her and would love and protect her forever but then her mother finds her and starts beating on her but Lucas try’s to save her but in the end Penelope must save herself and put an end to her mother’s treat of her once and for all. How does it all turn out between Lucas and Penelope do they get there HEA or does her mother take her back home ending what had just started. . This is the first book of the Mountain Shifters Pack series starting off with Penelope a gorgon, mistreated by her mother, on the run in a car that broke down up the street from a bar and walking in to ask to use the phone to request a tow truck not realizing that one act would change her path. Lucas sexy as all get out wolf shifter bar owner a true mountain man alpha personified and very grumpy most times so when the beautiful women walk in asking to use the phone especially with it being cold out throws him from a loop. This is where the ride gets a little interesting because gorgon usually don’t like to let alone love a man but for the first time in her life she feels wanted, loved, and enjoying his efforts to impress her especially after he learns that she is only half gorgon/half human. However, keep in mind she on the run from her mother who finds hers and begins to beat her and of course Lucas can’t just stand there allowing her to him his mate but with her mother’s power isn’t going to be easy, but will he get a chance to love his mate, will she finally stand up to her mother, and can these two people from two different worlds get their own HEA? . Lucas lives with his made family on a mountain with little hope of finding his mate until Penelope walks in and her attitude draws his attention. Once she has his attention he will not let go, even as he senses that she is running and hiding. I have to say I never expected to be rooting for a Gorgon but Penelope's humor and pluck drew me in. Both characters are different from the usual shifter profiles. The interaction between them is engaging, the action moves the plot and there are enough twists to keep the reader guessing. There are some good secondary characters who would draw me back to this shifter-friendly mountain. I received a free ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Penelope meets Lucas when her car breaks down. Lucas is drawn to the woman in the bar and notices her smell. Penelope gets scared and Lucus gets turned to stone. Penelope is half human and half gorgon. She left the island her mom raised her on so she could have her own life. However, she wasn't planned for what she would find. After leaving Lucas she gets attacked by a troll. Lucas breaks free from the stone and rushes to help her when he hears her scream. Will he be able to save her? Can there be something more between them?

This is a great story that once I started it I couldn't put it down. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Fighting For Their Forever -
Lucas felt a connection between himself and Penelope from the moment she walked into his bar, but she didn’t reciprocate his feelings. However, his connection to her grew stronger when he rescued her from a life threatening situation. Spending time together as she recuperated from her injuries led to them engaging in carnal pleasures. Unfortunately, their relationship was nearly destroyed by Penelope’s mum, but luckily they got a chance to explore a happy life together. This was an enjoyable read that had a little bit of everything to keep me entertained as I turned the pages. I am happy to recommend this book.

DESTINED TO BE A WOLF'S MATE is part of the  Mountain Shifters Packs Instalove Romance Series by Amelia Wilson. This is a short, fast paced story about true mate love with a nice storyline and great interaction and chemistry between the engaging characters.

Lucas Argent lives a quiet life as a bar owner in a secluded town of shifters in the mountains. a woman walk into his a bar almost frozen, there is no way he can't help her.

When Penelope's car breaks down, she's forced to ask for help at the first place she finds, a bar. Penelope is a gorgon and doesn’t trust men, especially werewolves. Looking at the man in front of her, she turns him to stone, turns she flees back into the snow storm, preferring the freezing cold to a werewolf.

This story is a quick, hot read with some HEA.

First book to the new series. I love that we are getting some of the more unique paranormal added with shifters. The mix is great and definitely adds a big twist to the story. The main characters have an amazing chemistry that takes them all over the place emotionally. One tough independent female who has a huge dislike of all males. Then add a wolf shifter that will destroy all her perceived conceptions. Can’t wait to see what the next book will bring.

This is a fantastic short story about Lucas who is a werewolf and Penelope who is half gorgon and half human, gorgon’s don’t like men they actually hate them but Lucas was slowly changing her mind about himself especially after he saves her life. There is so much more going on in this fantastic story I enjoyed it immensely and I recommend this book it’s well worth the read.

Penelope is a gorgon and can turn people to stone. She meets the very handsome Lucas who is a werewolf. He owns a tavern and that's where Penelope went for help in desperation from the cold. For some reason she is on the run and scared. Attacked by a troll. The Instinct. A werelion. A bitter mother. A witch. Turned to stone. A dragon.

Not your typical shifter book, but it was okay, entertaining. I don't think I've ever read a book involving a gorgon before, but it was entertaining to see Greek mythology in play. The description of Lucas' beast was something that sounds like it was taken from ancient mythology as well.

I liked that it had a different shifter type which gave it a different way the story could twist. I really enjoyed the character development and the story. It had just a touch of spice. I would give another 5 stars for just the creativity and outside of the box thinking of finding a new shifter to do a story about.

Holy Stars, I LOVED THIS BOOK AND I WANT MORE! I never understood why Nell had a hatred of all men until she found Lucas, and even though after living with him, her mom did a number on her to not even trust any man ,i was very hard for her to leave him when he told her to leave, but her heart told her to stay.

Super quick read. I liked that the main character was a gorgon. I liked the dual pov. It aided in creating depth for each character. I liked that Lucas proved Penelope's perception of most men wrong, but didn't disagree that some men act exactly how she said they did. Rainy day quick read. There was a need for editing throughout the story, though. Adult read. 2.5 stars

Good HEA

A pretty good story. I did like the characters. One of the main characters was a magical creature I had never heard of connected with shifters before. Very interesting and different.

Quick enjoyable read, although it made her sound like she was going to be much weaker than she actually was. I liked this mix of Greek mythology, even if part of it was inaccurate, and shifters.

This was a unique read in that the characters were not your standard shifters - it made it an enjoyable read as one discovered what exactly a Gorgon is and what they can do. I wish the story was just a little bit longer at the end to further expand on the relationship between the main characters - perhaps an epilogue would have been nice.

This was ok, I really didn't like the FMC. I found her to be annoying and to naive for her own good. She knew her mom was jaded and had never been nice to her but yet she believed every word her mom said about men, etc.

The MC was why I kept reading this and finished it. He was a sweetheart and did everything he could to show that he could provide for his mate.
