"Ways of the Magi" is the first volume with the series of "Return of the Messiah." It is unveiling an ancient way of life as we follow the struggle of kings and queens of the past to keep true to human rights. Alongside ancient tales, we follow the story of a boy in modern times who finds a secret manuscript that widens his reality connecting the ancient tales of magic with modern explanation of science.
I find this a very enjoyable retelling of some of the Old Testament stories. It even used some of the names with different spellings. Of course, it is not an exact retell, but a fictional story using some "old" material. But, that being said, it makes for an enjoyable story. And the present day connections help to make you realize that you are not re-reading an olde story. Can't wait to see the next book in the series.
Maybe it was my mood, maybe my level of distractions while trying to read this book but, despite my hopes for this title, I found this to be almost unreadable.
