Don't date your best friend's sister. Especially if you're teammates. It's the number one (unwritten) rule of football. And I broke it. No. I shattered it. I never meant to fall in love with Brenna Donald. But when it came to staying away from my best friend's twin sister, I never stood a chance. Her free spirit sucked me in. Her smile hit me in the chest. And the first time I held her in my arms? I was a goner. Which is a problem, since her brother, and my quarterback, doesn't think anyone is good enough for her. Not even me. Little does he know that I'm willing to give it all up for Brenna. She's my end game. The question now is, am I hers?
Off Limits is Book 4 of the Nashville Fury series. It can be read as a complete standalone. It features:
Pro football player Brother's best friend Roommates to lovers Close proximity Unrequited love He falls first Secret relationship Medium angst
Known for her witty sense of humor, Chelle Sloan is a former sports reporter who recently completed her master's degree in journalism, and is now putting that to good use — one happily ever after at a time.
An Ohio native, she’s fiercely loyal to Cleveland sports, is the owner of way too many — yet not enough — tumblers and will be a New Kids on the Block fan until the day she dies. She does her best writing at Panera, or any place that's not her office. Oh, and yes, you probably saw her on TikTok.
As for her own happily every after? Maybe one day...
I struggled getting into this book, which is really disappointing considering brothers best friend is my all time favorite trope, and combined that with a football romance, I figured this would be a clear winner for me. But overall, I never felt the connection to these characters. I hated how they took so long to admit their feelings, and once they finally did get together, it was just anticlimactic. Plus their first sex scene was fade to black which really frustrated me. I like all the smut in my books. I'm a certified smut slut, and I hate being smacked in the face with a FTB scene when a book is advertised as a hot romance.
Nothing against this author, I've liked some of her other books, but this just wasn't for me.
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions **
Wow! I felt all the emotions with this one! Never has a book had me so in the feels! At times I laughed out loud, and it made me cry like I was watching a movie! You could feel the emotions throughout this one! Incredible characters, and love the interconnection to old friends! This is one series I am very sad to see end! The Fury Family have become very much a real group of people in my mind! Congrats Chelle on another amazing work of art! Will definitely re-read when they are released and I get my paper copy!!
I was really really enjoying the book until Bryce, the brother, ruined it. I wasn't the biggest fan of him in book 3, and thought he was irredeemable. Turns out that I was right! That man ruined, and I mean RUINED, this book. The only reason I didn't take more stars off the book is because I was actually enjoying the book and its main characters! Stupid, stupid Bryce had to ruin it. Did I mention that he RUINED it?!?!?!?
Brenna Donald is the head-strong, trouble finding sister to the Nashville Fury quarterback, Bryce Donald. She is still looking for her Mr. Right. When a date with one of her brother’s teammates goes wrong, she calls the one person she can always count on, Cole.
Cole Campbell has been in love with his best friend’s sister for the past few years. Even though he pushes the feelings off, one night of her in his arms is all it takes. But breaking bro code has serious repercussions.
4 1/2 savvy stars! I absolutely love Cole & Brenna together. Chelle Sloan is always spot on with her football knowledge. Her ability to mix football and romance is bar none. You will fall in love with Brenna’s spunk and Cole’s sweet disposition. What a great read.
I have been WAITING for this story and for sweet, broody Cole to get his HEA. This was a fantastic best friend’s sibling, forced proximity romance & I loved every second of it. Did I laugh? Yes. Did I swoon? Yes. Did I cry? Also yes.
From the beginning of this series, Chelle Sloan has written the bromance between Cole & Bryce as almost another love story, so it was refreshing to see two best friends deal with the transition to Cole dating Bryce’s twin sister, Brenna. While Bryce is a pain in the ass, I appreciated that everything wasn’t resolved in two pages.
This book had everything you’d want in a sports romance & I loved getting the snippets of Nashville throughout. Sad the Fury series is over, but so excited to read what’s next!!!
While this book could be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the whole series - minimally Off Season (book 3), to understand the elements of the Cole/Bryce dynamic.
I love to read sports romance novels and I try to get my hands on as many as I possibly can. I have read some truly exceptional novels but there was something extra special about this one. I honestly think it’s mainly because of Cole. He is one of the best H’s I have read recently. I loved everything about him. I enjoyed reading Brenna as well, I thought once these two were on the same page they really made a fantastic couple. Once they reached this point, there wasn’t any unnecessary drama between the pair themselves. All that came in the form of Bryce. Boy, if I had a dollar for every time I wanted to throw my kindle at a hard surface each time he annoyed me, I think I would have a whole twenty dollars 😂 I still wasn’t a big fan of his by the end of the book, but he did manage to redeem himself just a little bit. Great characters, wonderful storytelling and just an altogether fabulous book. Loved it. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book
I love the fact that Off Limits is a romance with a kicker of football since I'm in the midst of a very emotional football season with no romance in my life LOL! It's amazing that our hero, Cole, is the one who falls first on top of it being a best friend's (& teammate) sister so bro code was fully in effect. It gives it quite the push & pull because once our heroine, Brenna, gets on board with what Cole wants so much, there's that whole waiting on the other shoe to drop with a certain brother. Despite said certain brother, these two are super HOT together, not to mention perfect for each other so they can't stay away from each other once things take that new turn. I LOVED 99.9 % of this story except for a certain person's really bad douche attitude, and will be rereading over & over again. HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
First off…Thank You Chelle for the delish snack on the cover!! I’ve come to expect nothing less from the queen of Thirst Traps💜👸🏻😉
Chelle admitted to doing Bryce dirty & boy was she right! He was a big ole db for a while. Luckily for him he got some sense knocked into him 😬 Because the Fury needs Bryce & Cole’s bromance right!?!?
Bryce may have had misgivings about Brenna & Cole dating but Cole surely did not. My dude was over the moon. I love the way he is so sweet & spicy with Brenna and the fact they are up for anything anywhere 😈🔥
💕fave quotes📖 No, right now I’m realizing that here, now, in the back of a cop car, I’m in love with my best friend’s sister.—-never know when it’ll hit you 🚔💘
“You staring at me?” she says as she makes her way to me. “What if I was?” “Well you know it’s rude to stare,” she says as she fixes my jacket one more time. “What if I wasn’t staring?” “Well then what were you doing?” I take both of her hands in mine. “I’m looking at the future.”—-yep! Cole is smooth & full of swoon💕
I step back and actually take a look at him, because there’s no way he’s this stupid. But by the look he’s giving me? Confusion laced in with a little panic, yup, he must be.—-poor Bryce—ish!! He had his moments that’s for sure!
This was such an amazing brothers best friend, football romance! I read this in one sitting because I couldn’t put it down. My heart was so invested in these two, especially for Cole! Trying to be a good friend and teammate is hard when it comes to love.
This Nashville Fury world is incredible and just keeps getting better with each book. I love that the characters from past books make an appearance with lives that have been moving forward. I highly recommend this book and series to anyone who loves a little angst with their brothers best friend, a hot sports romance, and amazing characters that are willing to fight for an hea!
I loved Cole and Brenna’s story! Cole and Brenna growing up together. He was her twin brothers best friend. Through life Cole had a connection it wasn’t until her moving to Nashville things changed from friendship to undeniable love for each other. While they seem to be perfect for each other her brother thinks otherwise.
And Chelle does it again! I love this series, I have a new favourite couple every time another book comes out. I loved starting with the chapter from the past and watching their story unfold. Another excellent read to add to this series
Off Limits was an entertaining Best Friend's little sister sports romance. Cole and Brenna's story at times is a little frustrating with to back and forth between these two. It had plenty of chemistry and witty banter to hold your attention. The connection with the characters is strong and the storyline is enjoyable. My only negativity would be that I thought the story dragged a little in places that could have been shortened. Overall a great story that gives you a little angst, smiles and laughter along with plenty of passion and emotion.
I swear every single time Chelle releases a book I absolutely devour it. She is just so good at giving you these wonderful characters and interesting plot lines that you just don't want to put down. This book was best friend's sister/brother's best friend romance at it's finest. I loved the entire dynamic between Brenna & Cole. I will admit that I did want to smack Bryce several times in this book though. Gotta love that overprotective brother aspect. LOL
**I was given this book for an honest review, and this was the first book that I read by Chelle Sloan**
This book was great!!! Cole is the sweetest, sexiest book boyfriend. Cole is always there for Brenna no matter how much it hurts to be around her, because she has no clue that Cole is in love with her and has been for years. The story line is so good and Bryce, Brenna's twin brother and Cole's best friend, is the worst when it comes to breaking the bro code and forgiveness. Loved it so much, that I've got to go back and read the first 3 books in the series.
I love a best friends sibling romance, and Chelle Sloan does it right with Off Limits.
Brenna and Cole grew up together. Cole is best friends with Brenna’s brother, Bryce, who we met in Off Season. The path to being together is challenging.
With Chelle Sloan’s wit, and heart, you have a great romance that was a long time coming.
i kind of speechless right now i just finished reading this book and i really somewhat liked it the begging was really good and i was definitely hooked but before you knew it they were already a couple and i feel like most of the book was about them trying to be accepted by Brenna’s brother which is still a good plot but i sloe think that they were extremely childish like i like how the story is footballs player sport romance brother best friend but like i think it would have been better if this book was set during collage years since from the way they were acting i honesty forgot some of them were 25 years old also with the whole Bryce thing there was so much happening for it just to be because of the what if he thought but i will tell you i’m not sure if Lucy and Bryce have a book already or not but i 10000% would read their book asap i literally love them and i think i just may maybe love them more than the main couple. but i’m also in love with cole i love that he a big sport guy but also a total caring softie when it comes to his girl
4.5 STARS This is book four in the series, but it can be read as a standalone and ends with a HEA. It is written in first person from an alternating dual POV. I have loved Cole in every book of this series. He is a strong and steady presence with a soft heart. Reading the background of how he fell for Brenna was fun and heart breaking at the same time. He knew that Bryce would not be OK with it, and Brenna didn’t see him that way. Brenna is the best friend to her twin brother’s wife. I met her in book three as she supported Lucy during the tough times. She is bubbly, a little rebellious, and totally fearless at times. I love how she goes after life. Reading as she fell for Cole, and finally realizes she has had feelings for him for a while, was perfect. There are some beautiful dialogues between the couple. I am talking about some serious romantic swoon. I highlighted a lot of those passages to look back on later because they were so romantic. I also really loved the hot times between this couple. Cole is such a big guy and Brenna is so much smaller than him; it makes for some smoking hot moments in the bedroom. I love, love, love them together. There are also several funny moments. Cole has a crazy ex that provides some comic relief with her crazy. The black moment is all about Bryce and his reaction to his friend being with his sister. Cole and Brenna have to navigate those rough waters to stay together and get their HEA. I read this series out of order. I started with Bryce’s book (#3) then went back and read one and two. I didn’t hate Bryce in his book. I felt like he was able to redeem whatever he had done wrong in one & two. I know other readers who were not able to forgive him for his actions in the first books and had a difficult time with his story. He plays a big part in this book. I honestly hated him in this story. He is utterly ridiculous. I can’t say I have ever had that reaction to a former hero before. He does eventually come to his senses and Cole and Brenna get their HEA. Though I think they may have been too forgiving of Bryce, because I am still angry at him. Or maybe I just hold a bigger grudge. Overall, I liked this book a lot. Cole and Brenna have something special. I love their relationship. The writing is very good (see romantic dialogues mentioned above) and Cole is by far my favorite hero of the series. I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an advance reader copy of the book.
As an avid romance reader, sometimes a lot of the books run together. The hero has to remove his head from his rear to realize he really does love the heroine. That train of thought brings a lot of angst and has so much truth in today's society. This is not that book. Well, not in the angst context that is used so much, and I absolutely love it!
This is another home run by Chelle Sloan. The ease of reading this book and the natural flow of the progression of the story is perfection. Chelle's natural wit is carefully woven ever so uniquely into each character.
The story of Cole and Breanna itself is cute and lovely. What I absolutely love best is how once Cole made his mind up to go for it with Breanna, he never backed down. That was SO refreshing!
But honestly, there was another love story that really was also focused on and doesn't always get the attention in romance novels, it was the bromance between Cole and Bryce, Breanna's twin brother. Bromances have ups and downs. What happens when your Bro dates someone you don't initially approve of? This story touches on a subject that is very real and not often explored.
As this story is a standalone, updates of previous characters are given and they are so yummy! You will not be disappointed in this story. The one critique I have is that as a standalone, the reader needed a bit more context into Bryce and he previous issues. Without reading Off Season, Book 3 in The Nashville Fury Series, you have very little background into the depth if Bryce.
There is definitely angst, you feel all the different emotions, you want to punch Bryce, you want to shake Breanna, you want to kiss Cole (hehe), and there is the right amount of steam and spicy times. Overall, my newest favorite Chelle Sloan book.
I enjoyed the first two books in this series which is why I decided to give this fourth book a go despite the fact that I did not like the third book. I mean I really did not like the third book. No matter how hard I tried I could not warm up to Bryce Donald. He was nothing more than a self centered man baby who needed to quit playing the victim, put his big boy pants on and grow up. Unfortunately that got even worse in this book and why I couldn't give it more than 3 stars. Cole Campbell was an absolute swoon-worthy hero. Brenna Donald was a strong, funny, intelligent, selfless heroine. (Apparently she took all the good qualities and there were none left in the womb for her twin, Bryce) Cole and Brenna's chemistry was steamy. Their history and back story was so sweet and together their love story was heart warming and had the potential to be a five star book. Unfortunately the Bryce factor was a huge turn off for me. Cole is his bestfriend who has stuck by him even when he didnt deserve it but instead of Bryce being thrilled that his sister is in love with his amazing bestfriend Bryce makes it all about himself. He gets mad that he wasn't the first to know about Cole and Brenna. He gets mad that Cole broke bro code. Barf! And he gets mad because things could potentially not work out and he doesn't like change. BooHoo! Then the story is dragged out while we wait for Bryce to stop having a temper tantrum. Basically a good story is overshadowed by a not so good character. I wish the author would have used the crazy stalker aspect as the angst and not the ridiculous, jealous, butt-hurt brother who couldn't get over himself. In my opinion it would have made for a much more likeable book.
Now this isn't the 1st time I've read Sloan but I haven't read her since she wrote her 1st book so it's been a while, And I enjoyed her 1st book but this book She's definitely getting better with each book she puts out. 1st off you get a lot you get sports romance you get a forbidden fruit because it's the best friend's sister you get friends to lovers, I mean you get a lot of trope going on here. The best of all it just was such a f****** good story It had humor had me laughing it had emotion that I actually was crying, It wasn't the typical sports romance because it wasn't the quarterback it was alignment the sports guy was a Lyman now let's face it if you know football at all you know the line manager just as important as quarterback but they don't get all the hype, But this was such a great story I mean the attraction of the characters was real you could feel their emotions she did such a great job the story itself it just flowed there was no rushing anything it flowed very well I just loved this story and I would highly recommend this to anyone especially if you love sports remanswers this will be in your, Again when I say about the way it flowed because there you know sometimes when it's the little sister things happen really quickly but that's not the way this happened so I think it made it more intense it made it so much more because it happened slowly and the author did an amazing job of the flow of things.
Sports romance and I have a love relationship. I just love them and they make me happy. Off Limits is one of those books that had me feeling all sorts of feels. There were happy times, sad times and times when I wanted to throw my device and yell at all the characters. Ms. Sloan gives us a fantastic story of two people who grew up together since one was her brother's best friend. Breanna and Cole have been friends for years since Cole and Bryce her brother have been best buddies at an early age. Through awkward situations that both of them have been in, Cole has found that his feeling for Breanna goes far deeper than just a friend. However because of this crazy "Bro Code" and you don't go after a teammate's sister, he has kept his distance. You see Bryce and Cole both play football for the Nashville Fury football team. He is the one that Breanna can count on and has feelings for as well. Can they get past this crazy code and just be happy? What happens with Bryce finds out? Will the happiness that Breanna feels for the first time in forever, be shared with her brother or will he shatter her happiness?
I could not get enough of these two. The happiness they felt as well as the struggles and heartache that they go through was just too much. Did I want to throw Bryce off a cliff? Yes!!! Was he a brother that I would want? No, but he did redeem himself.
I recommend adding Off Limits to your TBR list and get ready for a mixed bag of emotions.
I always love finding new authors. Chelle Sloane has become another favorite. I love Off Limits. I could not get enough of this story. I never wanted it to end. Cole and Breanne have know each other for years. Cole and Bryce have been best friends just as long. Dreams of professional football, building homes together. Always being together. But Cole never thought Breanne would be a part of that. Feelings he never thought were real can no longer be ignored. Once he and Breanne admitted to these feelings there was no turning back. Only one thing stood in the way, Bryce. After all, isn’t there some kind of bro code. One of the many things I loved about this story was Cole’s love for Breanne. He would not let anything or anyone come between his happiness with Breanne. It is what had me glued to every word. Bryce’s reaction to their relationship was a constant disappointment. Why couldn’t he be happy for them. Instead he made it difficult. The years of friendship, the brotherly bond with Cole was put to the test. How could they all get passed this, Would Bryce ever accept them being together. Was love enough. Would Cole and Breanne stay together even though tensions are building at home as well as on the field. Will love conquer all or will hearts be broken and friendships end. But as the saying goes where there’s a will there’s a way. Cole and Breanne’s love is what forevers are made of. They are perfect together.
What length would you go for the person you love? That is the question Cole and Brenna have to face. After being in love with his best friend’s twin sister for a few years, Cole finally gets his chance to show her. But breaking the bro- and locker room code? Brenna is worth it.
Brenna can`t believe that Cole is into her. After a terrible date with another man Cole comes and saves her from this awful experience. That night changes everything. Fast is clear, they are it for each other. But how to break the news to the best friend / brother? Especially before his big day. But the waiting and the news don’t sit very well with Bryce. And soon Cole and Brenna have to make decisions. Is everything worth it despite the love they share? How can they handle it? And when Cole and Brenna make their decisions independent from each other, things get out of hand. Can they all overcome their problems with the situation? And is there a way to come back from the choices that were made?
I loved how strong willed Cole and Brenna were. How convinced of their love. But eventually gave in. But Cole, the sweet guy he is, found a solution. So sweet and nice, the book ended was so good to see. And Brenna’s confession to Cole? That had me in tears. Very well written and brought to a fantastic happy end for all of them.
Having read previous installments in this series i couldn't wait for more from this author! As soon as this fourth installment was announced i picked it up and got right back into the Nashville Fury world!
Cole and Brenna's journey captured my attention right from the start and didn't let go! These two have been in each other's lives for years. Brenna is the sister of Cole's teammate and best friend. The thing is though, Cole loves Brenna and his heart ain't ignoring that. Can Cole and Brenna take a chance together? Or is it all too risky?
I loved how Cole and Brenna had been around one each other for so long. I was so glad that i got to jump into both of their minds and dig deeper. I didn't know how they'd tackle things in their lives, especially when it came to their hearts and Brenna's brother. I so adored Cole! He had my heart quickly. Brenna i very much related to. The chemistry between these two was fantastic! I felt it so dang much with these two all throughout!
It was so awesome being back in the Nashville Fury world!
With Off Limits, Ms.Sloan has created a great and entertaining read that had me blushing, feeling so much, and kept me glued to my kindle! I can't wait for more from this author! ❤️
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from Grey's Promotions / the author*
And the Nashville Fury Football team continues on a happy note … I am not so sure ?? Cole Campbell might be Bryce Donald’s best friend, brother from another mother and teammate BUT when he finds out a little secret Cole has been hiding for a WHILE Bryce doesn’t take it well at ALL !! They have been planing there future together since they were seven years old .. college, draft, team and future homes next to each other’s can ALL disappear with one true told and you will never guess who is the cause ?? Twin .. Sister .. Brenna ..
Brenna moves to Nashville exited to start her life as a teacher, to be by her best friend Lucy and her brother and Cole too but never thought she would be leaving with a broken heart .. because that is what he brother causes when she finally gets to love the love of her life !! After swearing off men and dating she never thought her inner feelings for Cole would ever be reciprocate but little did she know he ALWAYS felt the same way about her !!
Except they have one little .. well big .. issue called Bryce and the bro code ….
Can these two get him to see what they see and feel for each other or will this stupid superstition cause turmoil and heart ache for the ALL !!
Cole is the best friend and team mate of the quarterback on the Nashville Fury, Bryce. Cole and Bryce are friends had known and played football for over 20 years. They had a dream of going pro, getting married, buying land and building houses next to each other and raising a family as neighbors. Cole and Bryce were like brothers. Breanna is Bryce’s twin sister and was the little sister that always tagged along. While they played football she was the cheerleader on the side lines. She always saw Cole as an older brother. Breanna’s had to move out of her apartment while water damage was repaired. She showed up on Cole’s doorstep late one night and he allowed her to stay with him while the repairs were getting done. Cole knew he had feelings for Breanna for a while but he never wanted to cross the line of dating your best friends sister as well as a teammates sister. So he kept his distance until he couldn’t anymore. How will Bryce take the news?? Omg what can I say? I loved this book and couldn’t put it down. This was a great way to close out the Fury series. I’m glad I was able to go on the journey with Chelle. I have read and really enjoy all of her books. I can’t wait for more of her books.
Where do I even find the right words to express how absolutely amazing this book / series truly is ? I’m honestly not so sure there are any , and I mean that in the best way possible. Chelle Sloan is such a queen when it comes to writing pretty much any trope in romance but especially sports romances with all the feels . She really has this way of knowing just how to grab onto all your emotions so quickly and pull at your heartwarming in ways you will absolutely not be expecting. Off Limits is the 4th installment in her Nashville Fury Series and it was everything I could have hoped for and so much more . Wonderfully written characters that are not only likable and relatable but so very unique and multi layered. Angst , humor , witty banter , heartfelt and heartbreaking, second chances , unexpected surprises, romance, family , friendships, brothers best friend , forbidden, fun , sexy , unforgettable and unputdownable. I was seriously on the edge of my seat with my heart beating so fast the entire time . There were moments I had a smile on my face and others I was crying my eyes out . But though it all I was rooting so hard for Cole and Brenna to get the happy ending they deserved. This entire series is must read 💜💜💜💜
I don't remember that I've ever read any books of Chelle Sloan before but I enjoy read this book so much because it is surprisingly entertaining and swooning!
Cole's been best friend and teammate of Brenna's twin brother like forever so yes, they've known each other like forever too. But one incidence made Cole falling in love with her. With Bro Codes, he has tried to move on but then she has to be his roommate. Their relationship has been developed after that and Brenna finally knows that she is falling for him. I like their relationship both when they were friends and when they're in love with each other. Cole is a swoon-worthy one for sure and he loves Brenna even if she is a little wild, LOL. Oh, and don't worry that you will get bored from their love story because there is Brenna's twin. I want to strangle him so badly for their heartbreak he causes! But while I'm so frustrated with him, Chelle Sloan also makes me wonder about his own story so yes, I think she did an excellent work to write this book. I feel a little flabbergasted when I find out that this book is the last one of the series because it's very enjoyable to read. Now I'm going to go back and check all the previous books in the series because Chelle Sloan makes me feel intrigued about all characters!
Pack your bags, Chelle is taking us back to Nashville to once again dive into the lives of the Fury Football team! Cole Campbell, can we say swoon worthy leading man! Cole and his best friend Bryce Donald play together, work on the field together and have big plans for the future. They are each on a quest to find true love, build their homes, be co-workers, neighbors and brothers on and off the field. Brenna Donald the young wilder sister of Bryce has always been in love with her brother's best friend, but it never seemed to be the right time shine. Cole has been carrying more than a torch for the sweet sassy Brenna for years, but he will not go against the bro code no matter how much he wants her. Now shall we get to the off-limits portion of our story! This couple have danced around one another for years and finally it all comes to a head. They keep it hidden until it is not! Bryce chooses family over his longtime friend and now both worlds are about to come crashing down. This couple is sweet, funny, sexy, have great witty banter and are in for a fight when it comes to their happily ever after! ~~Michele McMullen~~
