The second John McCready thriller.
A satellite out of control.

An offer that can't be refused.

A nuclear submarine with a terrifying secret.

The ultimate sacrifice.

***

How far would you go to serve your country?

What would you do if there was no one to trust?

In the second of the series, John McCready embarks on a dangerous and hazardous mission for the British government.

A nuclear submarine is in trouble in the Pacific and the crew are in peril. McCready and his team are the only ones who can help. Also, on board is an item of vital importance to British national security, and there are other players out there desperate to acquire it.

But as the story unfolds, things are not all they seem.

Thrown reluctantly into a situation beyond his control, McCready must overcome the forces ranged against him to fight to survive and uncover the truth.

With help from an unlikely quarter, and abandoned by those he loves, he faces the ultimate sacrifice in the ultimate confrontation.

From the depths of the Pacific Ocean, through the tropical islands of Palau, to a nerve-shredding climax in the icy mountains of Russia, Deep Impact will leave you dazed and breathless, as an unwilling hero puts it all on the line for the safety of a nation.

Deep Impact was as intense as Deep Steal! I am really enjoying John McCready's exploits and his desire to do the right thing. I loved the chapter on "Taiji" - I only wish this could really happen! Such a great thriller series - on to book #3!

This was my first submarine themed novel, so I had high expectations going into it. Mike’s writing is superb, particularly the detailed descriptions that effectively and accurately set the scenes for the reader so well. While it's a great read overall, I was a bit let down by the plot, as it lacked the submarine action I was hoping for.

The story had so much potential to be thrilling. I really wanted to be on board of that British nuclear submarine, the HMS Resilience during its mission to the Pacific to retrieve the drive. The subsequent attack by the Russian submarine was a key moment, and it's a shame Seares didn't fully explore that fighting scene. Submarine warfare could have been an absolutely amazing part of the book.

Great series

I love action and complex plot books. This author and book hits a bulls-eye and keeps you wanting more. The weave of military, non military and espionage is very satisfying.
