When 2 top rated authors co-author a book, it has to be amazing... and Reckless Dare is another jewel in their crown

I love the way the Simha university is described - larger than life and best of the best

This particular trope is something I haven't read about much in Indian romance and I must say that the authors have done total justice to it... this book is a spin off of the Singham bloodlines and though the 2 can't be compared, this one comes across as an equally exciting modern series

The intense chemistry between Abhi and Ava along with their love and hatred for each other keeps you hooked on to the book and u can't stop reading it coz you have to know what happens next.

It just keeps getting interesting as the story moves forward and you really feel bad when the book is over.... and then you wait for Ved and Rana to take this forward

Reckless Dare by M V Kasi, P G Van Book Review on Njkinny's Blog

Read the complete Book Review by Njkinny on Njkinny's Blog.

Reckless Dare by M V Kasi, P G Van is the first book in the “Simha University” series. I have been a huge fan of this author duo’s “Singham Bloodlines series” and absolutely adore books like “Bound by Revenge” and “Bound by Hatred” from it. So, when I heard that they were coming together again for a new series that was somewhat like the Singham series, I jumped in joy.

However, after reading Reckless Dare I am disappointed. This book lacks the spark of previous books.

The protagonists Abhi and Ava lack the character depth of the loveable characters from books like “Wicked Deception“.

I just could not condone some of Abhi’s actions and his motivation behind tormenting Ava was so ridiculous as to be laughable. Who orders someone to leave college just because their fathers had a falling out? I mean get real. If everyone started ordering their enemies or people they don’t like, what would the world come to?

Then Abhi’s abandonment scene and his cruel targeting of Ava in her studies just didn’t sit right with me. With girls already so unsafe and targeted in daily life, such scenarios give the sense that it is okay to do this because ultimately the girl comes to like such bullies.

Even the explanation of everything when it came was so immature that it was just not upto the mark.

Overall, it felt like the authors added everything that they could think should be in a college romance. So, this book had too many angles but nothing was developed.

All in all, I have read better from M V Kasi and P G Van.

My love affair with Indian romance started with MV Kasi books. And when co-authored with PG Van, their stories are exceptional. A spin off of the epic Singham Bloodlines, this series is something to look out for.

Ava enrolls into the Simha University to fulfill her childhood dream of studying medicine there. There she runs into Abhi, the student council president and the college heartthrob. Sparks fly until Abhi finds out who she is and starts hating her and making her life difficult at the campus. Initially she cowers under him but when she starts retaliating to his bullying, he suddenly starts pursuing her till he wears her down and makes her fall in love with him.

Why did Abhi hate Ava? What is that secret? And why did he have a sudden change of heart and start chasing her?

A young college romance, it is a story of love and hate and misunderstandings. The chemistry between Abhi and Ava is scorching and their fiery encounters make for a spicy read. The vivid description of the elite university straight away takes you to the college campus in Karan Johar movies. Loved all the secondary characters who make the book so much more likeable. Awaiting the stories of Rana and Ved. It's a breezy read and is definitely recommended.

God this book was a complete mess.
Not publish worthy or worth spending money when you can literally read such type of books on wattpad.
So poorly written, I don't understand the full ratings.
First of all, who in the right mind will compare havard to a completely made up uni named simha? The boys, the school everything was so much similar to boys over flower (it's a kdrama) The high school's name is Shinwa in the drama and the boy attracting concept has also been copied from it.
Anddd the FMC repeatedly saying, my tormentor, my tormentor.
Bro tf!! It was so irritating!
And the FMC's name is avantika right? What's with obsession of shortening it and giving a western twist Ava. The book was cringe on so many places.
Immature build up of plot.
Also, do enlighten me which uni provides clubs for medical students?
Please pleaseeee.. I beg you. I know it's just a book but please do some rese when you're writing something.

This was my second M.V. Kasi book. First of all, the only reason I got on with this was that there is a dire shortage in the number of good contemporary college books with Indian main leads. So yeah, this shit got me all kinds of excited when I saw that it was also a bully romance.

First off, let's just start with the good part because my bad part rant is gonna be fucking long.
Overall, it was a very quick, easy read, 284 pages or so.............. I shit you not, this was the good part.

Thus begins the rant. Continue for spoilers and the several reasons why I found the book to be insufferable.

Ok, the rant is officially over.

"The Reckless Dare" is a captivating romance novel co-authored by MV Kasi and PG Van, known for their engaging storytelling and compelling characters. This book is no exception, offering readers a thrilling journey filled with love, passion, and the unpredictable twists of life. Ava was scared and even thought of giving up her dream and return which was realistic! But she chose to stand her ground! The progression of story is very nice and Ava and Abhi's chemistry. The story revolves around the lives of two strong-willed characters who are drawn together by a dare. The protagonists, with their distinct personalities and backstories, are well-developed and relatable. The chemistry between them is palpable, making their interactions intense and engaging. The dare that brings them together serves as a catalyst for the unfolding drama and romance, pushing them to confront their fears, desires, and ultimately, their feelings for each other. I loved the sweet love hate relationship. "The Reckless Dare" is a captivating romance novel co-authored by MV Kasi and PG Van, known for their engaging storytelling and compelling characters. This book is no exception, offering readers a thrilling journey filled with love, passion, and the unpredictable twists of life. It's a perfect pick for readers who enjoy stories of enemies to lovers tropes.

I have read the entire series of Singham bloodlines and Bound By Revenge is my favorite out of all so in my mind this cannot a spin-off of that story. However this story has a completely different background and theme and I liked it this way only. Let’s not compare Abhay with Abhiram because they both are completely diff characters, at least that’s what I felt.

This book was in mind for a long time and I am glad I picked it up. While it is standalone it leaves enough mysteries in the end to intrigue you to pick up the next book in this series. It’s diff from the books which MV Kasi has written so far and a good one. I would not call it bully romance as the hero was hardly able to bully the girl. The reason is he was good at heart and couldn’t harm anyone and the girl kept on reiterating I Hate You but they both were attracted towards each. Just one date & everything changed. Pick it up if enjoy YA stories.

✨️✨️✨️A beautiful nightmare full of passion and tension✨️✨️
Avantika Patel’s dream of joining the prestigious Simha University quickly turns into a battle of wills when she crosses paths with Abhiram Simha, the reckless, brilliant, and arrogant student president who seems to hate her for reasons unknown.

Their constant clashes spark intense emotions, and just when Ava thinks she can’t take his torment anymore, Abhiram surprises her with a passionate side she never expected. The story brilliantly captures the fine line between hate and love, with fiery chemistry and gripping drama at every turn.

If you love enemies-to-lovers with a rich, complex setting and unforgettable characters, this one’s for you 🔥

Overall the book was great and the execution was really nice. I couldn't put it down and only took breaks from reading thrice. But the number. of times I read the word tormentor...made my head spin with frustration. In my opinion, mentioning the word tormentor in almost every paragraph wasn't needed.
And also the character of Ava at first was portrayed very weak and I was beginning to think she's going to stay a vulnerable mess throughout the book but then I was beyond glad when I saw she finally took a stand for herself and met Abhi and his threats head on. Her character growth was really nice.

Had to read it one go… cudnt really put it down 🙈
Mv Kashi and Pg Van have always been authors close to my heart as the stories are full of emotions, family, drama, passion and new age women who are strong and rooted. It’s same in this one as well. Ava was scared and even thought of giving up her dream and return which was realistic! But she chose to stand her ground! The progression of story is very nice and Ava and Abhi’s chemistry 💥💥💥
And the authors are right, the singhams would always be young and powerful 😍

A spin-off from Singham bloodline, a series that I had thoroughly enjoyed.
“Reckless Dare” is a good young college romance that is well-paced and beautifully spot characters. Loved the sizzling chemistry between the lead pair and how much the guy manipulates the girl. Their love, their hatred is a roller coaster ride, and the net result is a story that one just can’t put down.
Kudos Author MV Kasi & PG Van! Waiting eagerly for the next in the series already…

It is good. But there could have been a little more explanation of why Abhi changed his mind.
It's too weird. She just shouts at him and the next thing he is pursuing her.
There's no explaining of why he changed his mind. It's just so vague.

ABHIRAM and AVANTIKA

Wow!... I really liked this book. This book has some of my favorite tropes, from insta-love to hate to love again, from enemies to lovers, revenge love with bully romance and some family drama too.

Avantika Patel, is a shy and sweet girl, protected by her parents. She finally gets into Simha university to fulfill her childhood dream of studying medicine from her father’s alma mater, and could not be happier. Nothing is going to take this away from her!

Abhiram is one of the Simhas.’ He is popular, reckless, student body president, captain of the rugby team and he is considered one of the God’s on campus!

Avantika literally runs into Abhiram, and immediately sparks fly and are further fanned at welcome party thrown by the Simha boys.
But as soon as Abhi finds out, that she is the daughter is his family’s enemy, he makes it his mission to force her to quit Simha and leave, by any means necessary.

“Why do you hate me?” she asked. Because you are... YOU.”

He torments her at classes, trips her in the cafeteria, stalks and threatens her in the library and at the gym, demanding that she leave the university.
And when she finally stands up to him and calls him an arrogant, entitled devil in front of everyone, she is shocked at his reaction. He begins to woo her...

“You are not a god,” she said. “You are the devil. And you are popular only because of your family’s money and influence. You are nothing but an arrogant, entitled boy with a god complex.”

Abhi is just as thorough with his love as he was with his hate. He declares his intention in public by bringing her his winning rugby ball, following her everywhere, becomes the lead in her drama club with her, goes out of the way at the ball, to make his intentions clear publicly (but still subtly) to her.

“You might not think I’m nice, Harvard,” he said against her ear. “But I’m the only one who makes your heart race. It’s the same for me.”

Abhiram studies her reactions and pushes her boundaries, using her shyness against her to make her his. He knows very well what to say, and how to say things to make her his willingly.

“I thought I should give you time and space to get used to me… and get used to us. But I don’t want to wait any longer. I want to be with you every moment possible.”

Abhiram doesn’t even realize when his hate became love for the girl whose family was his family’s enemy. What will happen when Ava finds out why his behavior he suddenly changed?

Both are two different kinds of torments to Avantika. She could barely survive her tormentors hate. Can she withstand his blazing passion?

There are so many things I absolutely adored in this book!
The description of the university is so much larger than life, extravagant and exclusive, with chartered flights, private airports and just over-the-top everything!... I just loved it!

The falling in complete love is so very well written, for both the main characters. The questions, the doubts, the butterflies are so well described, you can actually feel it while you read it.
Their dating phase is so cute and filled with so much sexual tension, especially the whole friends engagement. That scene lives in my head rent-free!

There is some angst due to misunderstandings, but that only adds to the story and its characters!... I don’t want to spoil or give away the plot, but be ready for some OTT jealousy, possessiveness, passion, and love!

I am reading M.V. kasi's books from a long time and can easily say that this is not her best work.
The hero is soo dumb that he expects the heroine to leave the college just because HE ordered this, WITHOUT giving her any reason.
The term TORMENTOR was used a lot!! and it just lost it's value to me.
The worst thing about the book was that the author tried to add EVERYTHING!! she can think of in a college romance. Starting from offshore parties, a bitchy roommate, Drama class with hero&heroine as leads, a masquerade ball,Elections, holi celebration(which ended within 2 pages🤦🏻‍♀️ and was highly unnecessary), and what not! Everything was added but nothing was utilized. Not a single thing mentioned above was done properly and lacked intensity & depth. It more or less felt like author trying to add whatever she has read from english college romance books and in that forgot about adding a proper story!
This is not what I expect from Kasi. She has written far better books than this.
I barely tolerated Abhi and did not liked Ava.

An epic start for the series

Has always been in love with MV Kasi and PG Van and my all time favourite of them is The Singham Bloodline series. Now when I book closely related to it was relased, I couldn't miss it.

Reckless Dare is about the oldest of the Simha cousins, Abhiram Simha fondly called as Abhi and Ava (Avantika Patel) an exchange student from Harvard University who dreamed to study in the prestigious Simha University. Their love has a lot a twist and turns starting from an instant attraction at mistake but a lifelong misunderstanding leading to tormentation, suffering and never-ending passionate romance with a heartbreaking truth reveal. Loved the book. Intrigued to find what's their in other two books.
