Eric has learned much about the ways of power since arriving in this strange world. Winning a place among the mighty Nords wasn’t easy, but his heroics have earned him a seat at their table.

As spring comes to the land, Nord thoughts turn from staying warm to raiding.

They’ve invited Eric to come along. But not all is right in the ripe lands the Nords raid every season. Troops are based where there should be none, and their adversaries are building a navy.

Something has changed.

Eric begins to see signs that all these things may be linked to his birth world. Someone from his old home is interfering with his new one, and the Nords are in the way. An obstacle to be eliminated.

But not if Eric has anything to say about it!

He’s survived monsters and battled other humans in his fight to keep himself and those he cares about alive. Can Eric save the people who have taken him in from the danger presented by his past?

4 stars. A bit slow in places. I like the magic upgrading in this series.

First book was great, interesting system and concepts with some fun banter and character level grinding...

This book? Guy has the moral compass so broken it might as well always point towards who's ever nice to him. Monks nice to him, bad raiders. Raiders nice to him, screw monks lets kill and steal from them.

At least the magic system will be fun? Well screw magic because now we got guys with guns in the world. So it's no longer some magic swinging litrpg its more magic vs guns.

Honestly this character has Stockholm syndrome so bad he keeps trying to justify the theft and murder of farmers because ...they have enough so the raiders surely can kill, kidnap and steal from them?

Sure the guys with guns were bad but the raiders too needed to be wiped out. They start throwing tantrums when their victims actually fight back and the MC feels bad that the farmers aren't just taking it lying down and actually are defending themselves.

So ya, if you don't mind a horrid MC and Guns invading a world of magic, this is the book for you. If you at all have a sense of justice, this MC is basically the worst. One of those people who see someone getting stabbed and just turns the other way so it's not his problem. Hell if the stabber was his friend he'd justify that the victim should have just given them what the stabber wanted.

The MC is basically one of those. 'She wore that skirt short, she deserved it' types. Trying to put the blame on the victim because the abusers are his friends who kidnapped him.

Good but filled with plot holes

The story is good in this one, buy it seems like the author just straight up discarded some of the rules set up in the first book.
One of the major offenders in this is the system and how it works. In the first book the powers worked a certain way and in this one he just straight up ignores some of those rules and does whatever he wants instead. This makes it really annoying because you don't really know anymore how the powers actually work and how you get them. I don't want to spoil anything but this os something that can make or break this book for some people maybe.
The book is good story wise and if you can look past this problem om the book you will probably enjoy this one alot. I liked the book despite its problems and think ots definitely worth a read of you liked the first one.

Better than the first

Eric is learning about his new world and leveling up quickly, but now has to help his new friends face soldiers from his world. I really enjoyed this book, it is pretty fast paced now that the initial character and world building are done. I love the characters in the book and am really enjoying the way Eric is leveling and making new friends. I am looking forward to the next book to see how everything turns out.

book two

Mistakes: I found a couple and have listed them on GoodReads.

Plot: Instead of raiding, the Viking type people on this new world are about to be invaded by the people that used to be their victims. Backed by the might of an American corporation, how can the Viking survive such a unified threat?

Characters: I found that they kept me interested and drew me into the adventure.

8/10 Really could have used more loot. I mean you have dungeons and Viking like people.

Much more than a pebble!

No spoilers here, but the big bad in this series calls our hero a “pebble” stuck in the gears of a machine that is about to crush him.

Well I have news for him. I’m only 2 books in out of 6 , and it’s abundantly clear that some people can evolve and GROW. Obvious this includes our hero. This the hero’s journey tale told with swords, sorcery and guns..

It’s definitely going to get interesting, so hop on board and come along for the ride!!!

I loved this book.

Travel to another world, go from meek and mild to a warrior. Soon Eric finds out that he is not the only Earth man on the new realm. The company is now sends soldiers through to conquer this world and rob it of its mineral wealth. They must be stopped. Hang on for this story.

LitRPG that peaks your interest

Once upon a time, 37 years ago, I read a series of books by a guy called Joel Rosenberg. In it, college students playing a D&D like game were sucked into their characters. Not since then have I enjoyed LitRPG this much. LMBPN has a number of books in this genre, but this one has an interesting hook. You've gotta read the books!

Good stuff keep them coming

Good follow up book. This series if fun and thoughtful. I like that the MC is less whiny than in the first book and hope to see more character improvement in The future. The scales are a bit Skewed as there would prob be more people brought through the portal but we don't know the cost i guess. Despite that a fun read. Looking forward to the next.

Did not get engaged in the story.

This book just failed to get me interested in it as the world building left me filling like the plot holes are just huge. The magic system is somewhat entertaining but it is not expanded upon very much. Not sure if I will read anymore books in this series.

Bad logic

Most people fight in melee range, and even magical weapons have problems damaging a higher tier monster or person. So how in the world did regular arrows and bullets do so much damage, and kill people who can take a beating with one shot. If range arrows and magic is so powerful, why was it not being used much.

Fun continuation in the series

This book continues the fun from the first book. The world gets more interesting and detailed with each book so far. The characters are great and the magic and world details are superb. I definitely enjoyed this book and series so far and definitely recommend it.

Guns a-blazing!

Kind of a fun merging of LitRPG with modern technology. I enjoyed how the premise of the first book fed into the escalation of conflict in this one - that was really well done. This was a fun, easy, and quick read. Looking forward to the next one!

I gotta know how this story ends, I have various scenarios going through my mind and there are so many ways it could go, I can't wait to read the next novel!

What a conundrum!

The odds are definitely not in Eric's favor! A David and Goliath situation. Hopefully, Eric will continue to gain strength and magic.

I didn't like the twist in the story at all. I thought it was more a fantasy world but it is getting awkward with the American soldiers.
Dnf around 50%.

Nice!

The book continues from the previous plot line, which was pretty good. Still, I like more crunch in litrpg, but this series is fantastic otherwise. Good job sir

Ruined a Good Thing
The story continues, with Eric settling in and discovering how to improve his powers in this world, and cementing his relationship with the Signe, Magnus, and the Nortyr people.

Then everything is upset by an apparently unbeatable enemy, as the company that sent Eric to this world starts sending, through a much improved gate, many more people including military with training and equipment to subjugate the world so they can exploit it for resources.

Eric of course has to lead the fight against that, despite it apparently being hopeless as a firearm empowers the lowest level person to seriously harm or kill someone several ranks higher in the color spectrum.

Eric only succeeds in defending the town of Avaldsnes from the kingdom the Earth agents had recruited as their foot soldiers, along with a contingent of Earth mercenaries, by use of a magic artifact with unknown powers that held a being captive which just happened to luckily turn out to have the powers to save the day.

The story ends with Drexler concluding that hiring another gamer from Erics old squad, the 420Devils, might be the key to exploiting the world on the other side of the gate.
