Isla Monroe has lived in Shellside Bay for her
entire life. She's used to the consistent routine of
working summers at the Shack, taking the Nauti
Buoy out to the island with the boys, and staring

I could not recommend this book enough. This book and its author are severely underrated. The writing is top tier, from the descriptions to the dialogue. The plot by itself is typical, but with all of those subplots and descriptions and characters and the writing in general, it is elevated. The characters are developed and have entertaining personalities.

This is one of teh only books where I genuinely love the main character; Isla is head strong and doesn't put up with people's crap but has a fat crush on her best friend which clouds her judgment whenever she is with him. And teh love interest, Everett, a 'bad boy', is written with perfection; I love him. From his dialogue to his positive effect on Isla's life to his descriptions. You will fall in love with boy. The relationship between Isla and Everett is written with such care. They develop perfectly; soft enemies to lovers. Their personalities mesh so well. Their 'moments' are golden. You cannot help but want them together.

This book deserves an opportunity to be published or displayed to a larger audience.

And to think its set in Australia! I have been itching to read a book that is written by an Australian and set in Australia with Australian references.

My only critique and reason for not rating this book 5.0 stars, is one tiny pet peeve about the representation. I am not a fan of POC characters not having ethnic names or specific ethnicities. For example, Isla is not white. Her ethnicity is not specific but her father is described to have dark skin and curly hair which Isla inherited. I'm assuming that Isla is half indigenous Australian or African, but I can't tell because it isn't mentioned and her last name is Monroe, which is a surname with Scottish origins. A better example would be her friend River Bennet, who I know is east Asian from the character mood boards at the beginning of the book. Because of the description and choice in surname, if this book was published, no one would know that River is east Asian. I will applaud the author for having some diversity, with half of the main cast excluding the Everett, being POC and I know that she can write diverse characters with their ethnicity acknowledged in the book through her other works. But this book lacks a few things that would elevate the representation and increase the quality of the book in general.

Other than that, this book is perfect. The bad boy. The funny characters. The subplots. The development of the couple. Trust me, you will ship them by the end of the book. And did I mention the writing? This book doesn't deserve to still be on Wattpad. It deserves to be edited and published. And if you are not going to read this book by teh end of this review, at least take teh time to check out this author on Wattpad, because she is underrated and has incredible potential.
