For years, a small kernel of hope for my freedom was all that kept me alive while imprisoned by the brutal Thaician Emperor, Malakai. Now, those wishing to return me to him threaten everything I’ve fought so desperately for.
This time is different, though, because they’ve underestimated me. I have far more than hope in my arsenal now, and I’m not the same woman I was under his rule.
But will it be enough to make it back to the three vampyre lords who set my heart on fire?
Before, I simply hoped for freedom. Now, I know there is so much more waiting for me beyond these shackles: my new home, friendships, love, and most importantly, a chance to change the world for the better.
And I am willing to fight for it all—ruthlessly.

I read a lot of books and sometimes it's hard to keep track of all the different characters and storylines, especially when I read a few too many stories that were a little bit too alike. I therefore absolutely love it when authors are able to do rapid releases. And if the authors also make sure that both the storyline and the characters are memorable it becomes even easier. And this first book was memorable, so I was really happy I got an arc of this second book.
The first book ended with quite a cliffhanger and luckily this book picks up where the previous book ended. I don't want to spoil the fun of reading this installment, but the first few chapters, filled with action and danger, are very clearly only the beginning. It seems there's a lot going on in this book and I really flew through it. Every time I thought I had figured out what was going to happen, the authors threw in a twist and the finale was thrilling and exciting.
The books are partly so exciting though because of the characters and how much they grow during the story. Especially our heroine is almost being forced to learn quickly. Since her escape from her emperor and her kingdom she has found a new life, three amazing guys who love her very much and the freedom she has always longed for. But it's quite clear that she might be destined to change the world and it's a pleasure to watch her grow into the role of savior.
Of course, she can only do so because her three guys really believe in her. I like how the authors found the right balance between them being very protective and possessive without them creating a new cage for her to fit into. They know that their girl is a fighter, that she's capable of being so much more than she used to be. They encourage her to grab her chances and to fight for the good cause. And in some cases there's some beautiful character growth needed to get there.
An epic high fantasy story with fantastic world building. In the 2nd book of this series Kyella starts off fighting for survival after being kidnapped. The fallout of her kidnapping is dealt with throughout the book. Myrin, the Empress becomes even more of a mentor to Kyella and they develop a deep bond. Kyella and her vampyres also draw closer and become vital to each other’s survival. The plot twist in the final third of the book took me completely by surprise. The repercussions of which will be felt through the next book. I can’t wait to see what happens in the final instalment of this series.
This second book is as good, if not better than the first! Kyella continues to thrive and grow as the story progresses. I love a strong FMC and that’s exactly what we get.
I love the world that has been developed and keeps developing throughout the series. The plot takes a direction I wasn’t expecting so I’m excited to see how the final book turns out!
Ruthless War is the second book in the Vampyres' Source series, it was an awesome read. Caulder and Sinclair don't hold their punches in Ruthless War, by the end my emotions were a little raw but it was worth it.
Are we sure that Kyella is dhampyr because she might be an angel? Kyella is the most opened hearted, compassionate person I've ever seen and has great empathy for others. She's growing stronger and more confident every day putting her all into training and learning about the empire that has taken her in.
The relationship between Kyella and the guys has grown exponentially. The guys are very serious about Kyella, they each have strong feelings for her and let her know it. I love that each of them are protective and possessive. They are a group and love Kyella as a group, making sure all her needs are filled between the three of them. As for Kyella she respects and cares for them greatly, she's very protective of her guys and doesn't mind them knowing it. I'm calling it, they are fated mates, I don't care if fated mates aren't known in this world, it's the only thing that explains that strong and instantaneous connection.
The friendship between Myrin (the Empress) and Kyella is special. Both women are in awe of each other and have an open and easy relationship and have come to care for one very much so. It's a beautiful friendship. More of Myrin's life is revealed and makes me like the Empress even more than I did before. Readers also got more details about the Tridian Empire, seeing the people work together, the marketplace for example, and more of the defense system was explained. What was even more interesting were the creatures, the giant bats and deadly sea monsters, to be specific. I had questions about Barnabas before this book and I have even more now. Then there are the deadly sea creatures who came out of nowhere and brought destruction with them.
After a devastating event near the end of Ruthless War, I had tears in my eyes. It was a plot twist I didn't see coming and made my heart ache in more ways than one. After a devastating setback with unforeseen consequences, Kyella's ready to meet the future that she's dreamed of head-on in the third and final book, Ruthless Love. War is coming and love will lead the way.
The epic series continues. Kyella is no pushover and refuses to be a slave ever again. With war on the horizon, The Tridian Empire is ready to fight against Malakai and the Thaician Empire to set things straight and make freedom a value for all Vampyres and Humans - Male or Female.
As Kyella grows closer to Myrin, a bond is formed. The bond grows so close that when the unthinkable happens, Kyella is requested to take a step she never really saw for herself. With her guys by her side - Elijah, Kolvar and Dakath are ready to worship her like the Queen she already is and are ready to fight and defend in her honor.
While the storyline of the book is detailed and captures your attention - I felt like bits and pieces were drawn out. The steam continues and my oh my, are these guys delicious. lol. Kyella's character growth continues to grow and she is as fierce and determined as any great leader is! The new revelation with Barnabus is interesting and I am looking forward to see how the authors will proceed with that.
The war is coming and in this new world, who will prevail? I look forward to the next book and see Kyella bring Malakai to his knees!!!!
*Overall 4/5 *Heat? 4/5 *Med Burn *Multiple first person POV *MFMM Relationship *Ends on light cliffhanger
Ruthless War the second book in the Vampyres’ Source series R.L. Caulder and M. Sinclair was yet again another fantastic dip into a much loved world created by these two masters of writing and is sure to please anyone that loves a strong-willed heroine and her sexy and utterly possessive Vampyre Lords!
This story takes us back to Kyella and her three Vampyre lords and picks up right from where the first book left us with Kyella back in the evil clutches of the tormentors that the Emperor sent after her. And let me just say this stort was just as fabulous as the first one—except maybe even better as we start to see her truly grow with Elijah, Dakath, and Kolvar by her side! And even with all the tragedy and trauma she endures she still remains hopeful to be back with her men and for her time to finally come. Just be prepared for a darker journey for Kyella and her men as the Emperor takes us all along with him on his evil plan.
This story was packed full of emotions and so much heat it’s a definite must read for sure! And trust me, if you loved the first story of this series then you NEED this one now!!
Book one of The Vampyres' Source ended with a dozy when it comes to cliffhangers, but thankfully book two kicks in straight after that book ends. Kyella has been kidnapped by her old kingdom's men and they are to take her back to the Emporer, but not before they find out what she knows about where she was taken.
A lot happens in this book from rescues, to declarations of war and planning. There is definitely a WTH moment in the book where honestly, I sat there going "any second now something is gonna happen and it's all gonna be fine" but holy hell the author really does like to tug on those heartstrings. There are consequences for what happens and it's time for Kyella to step up.
I can't wait to see where this book goes in the third one!
I almost don’t want to say anything about this book, because everything I want to say is likely to give away all the secrets and revelations that are present in this story. I loved that we got to see Kyella embracing her newfound powers and this newly formed little family recognizing their love for one another. But, at the same time, I kind of hated all the reasons that sped up the process in this book. I’m still all off kilter from the twist this story takes, but I’m more desperate than ever to find out what the next book will bring us. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
Ruthless War is the second book in the Vampyres' Source series. This cannot be read as a standalone and does end in another cliffhanger. My favorite duo is at it again, taking me down Kyella and her men's adventurous journey. I LOVE THIS STORY! Kyella's growth not only shows with her newly found powers but the connection she has with her guys. You guys just keep throwing surprises and it really makes this story better and better. I can't wait to see how this story ends!!
Wow what an emotional ride this was. Kyella is growing and learning as she explores her new life. Great steamy scenes and some seriously messed up plot twists. Can't wait to see how things come out in the next book.
I have been waiting for this story and it does not disappoint. There is sadness, joy and many wait what moments. This series is amazing and I couldn't put it down. Each character has such depth that you will enjoy getting to learn more about them
Oh my goodness. I did NOT see that coming. I love when I’m surprised by a book, and this one just kept surprising me. I’m loving seeing Kyella come into her own and while it partially has to do with the men she’s involved with, it’s not just because of them. The book is spicy and the romance is amazing, but the storyline itself is nonstop, can’t put it down. We get to see more of the worldbuilding in this book and I love it. I cannot wait to see what happens in the next book. How will this story wrap up? There’s a lot to come in this last book and I can’t wait.
I loved the writing but this book was sort of lacking to me. I had to actually push myself to finish and I have never felt that way about RL Caulder or M Sinclair books before. I wish I loved this more but it just didn’t have enough action for me. Like yes the ending had a big thing happen, but it felt tone deaf to me. It didn’t have some crazy emotion coming from me in reaction to it. It was good, just wished I loved it more.
I know many will disagree with me, but this book leaves much to be desired. I'm not sure I will read the final book. I was truly surprised that I didn't like something by these authors.
We begin exactly where we left off, with Kyella in the hands of her tormentors that the Emperor sent to abduct her from her new beginning.
this book in the series started out darker, there is more physical and mental torment. But it is just a very small part of this wonderful story. It happens at the very beginning of the book, and we get into a better understanding and knowledge of just how strong our FMC truly can be, and how this affects her and compelled her to become an even stronger version of herself.
As I followed Kyella’s journey through the horrific scene of being captured and tortured I was so very inspired by her inner strength and her truest belief in herself to get through these moments and never lose sight of her goals of getting back to her men and the new friends that she is building. She isn’t going to wait around to be saved, even though she knows with every fiber of her being that her men will stop at nothing to get her back…but Kyella is determined to find her own way out of this temporary nightmare.
This book is truly a must read! I was taken through so many emotions from ugly crying to laughing like a loon! Kyella has the personality and keen awareness that her life and her future is so much bigger than she ever imagined or believed it would be.
There is so much action and things that happen to Kyella and her men that unfortunately I can’t get into without spilling the tea! 🫖 and I won’t ruin your enjoyment and all the discoveries that you will find as you start your own journey with Kyella!!!
So hurry and download this BOOK now!!! Laugh and cry with Kyella and you too will be drawn into this fantastic world that I didn’t want to leave!!!
These books are so easy to fall into! The world building is amazing.
Book two picks up right where book one left us, and they didn’t disappoint. This book is full of twists and turns leaving you anxious to turn the page to find out what’s next for them.
One of my favorite things about this book is the growth, they grow together and individually. In this series the growth from Kyella has been huge in each book. She gains her freedom in book one and learns to navigate what that feels like, but with that came a lot of new surprises of who she actually is and what she can do. And the way the authors have done that is phenomenal. Watching her not only figure out how to live a life again with her newfound freedom, but also decipher the secrets of herself, AND be a total badass at the same time! She isn’t some damsel who was rescued by her knights (or lords in this case). She is a butterfly ready to spread her wings, and spread her wings she does. With the threat of Malikai getting closer and closer she doesn’t just sit around and wait, she does everything she can to ensure she’s ready.
Her guys are amazing. They’re jealous and possessive but they’re also very open to allowing her to be who she’s meant to be. They want her safe but they also want her happy. I loved watching them figure out how to do just that without essentially putting her into a new cage. The way they love her is everything. And when Kyella and her men are together it is delicious! One of my favorite parts of this series is you get the mens POV. It adds so much to the story to get their thoughts, feelings, and reactions to everything going on.
As usual the ending has left me wanting more! Impatiently waiting for book 3!
Ruthless War continues the series of the Vampyre's Source and picks up where book one left off. Kyella has discovered what she is...she's more than just a thrall and she's made a vow. She will never return to the king who would see her subjugated again. What she's not expecting is to what lengths he will go to to try and get her back. Ruthless War is an absolutely engaging novel packed with drama. I enjoyed the majority of the storyline, but it was more than a little flawed. Kyella really shows growth and development in this book, but it seems that the guys have some growing up to do. They have their good moments, but then they seem to really have "fragile male egos" as Myrin says. I didn't appreciate the guys' man handling an injured character and then the amount of disrespect to their empress. I get being heated and in the moment (and yes, I know the authors wrote them a particular way to amp up the drama) but I didn't like it. I also didn't like them being contradictory. It's fine for them to be like - we'll storm in here, be rude, be disrespectful, demand answers, say we're going to do what we want and you can't stop us, but when she stands up and asserts herself they have the audacity to say "that was uncalled for"? Give me a break guys. Fragile male egos indeed simply because they wanted to be in control and not trust her. It was disappointing. I'm hoping that the guys (and authors) do better with the next book and have the guys be more respectful to their sovereign. I'm rating this book 4 out of 5 stars.
Ruthless War is the second installment in this epic paranormal reverse harem romance series. Kyella’s journey continues as this book immediately picks up after the jaw-dropping cliffhanger from book one. The powerhouse writing duo R.L. Caulder and M. Sinclair don’t hold back and readers will be on the edge of their seat devouring this book! Be prepared for an emotional rollercoaster.
Kyella is a resilient heroine that is raw, vulnerable, strong, and powerful. I definitely love a story where the heroine is more powerful than anyone realizes and she is underestimated. The growing tension between the Thaician and Tridian empire ramps up and Kyella must navigate being asked to do something bigger than she could have ever imagined. The friendship between Kyella and Myrin is beautifully done. Elijah, Kolvar, and Dakath are amazingly sweet mates and the spice was *chefs kiss* top tier. Definitely makes me giddy inside reading about a harem of men that will sacrifice anything and everything for their beloved. They treasure Kyella and it is certainly what she deserves after her tragic past.
I am so excited this series is a rapid release and the third installment will be out very soon. I don’t think I could wait much longer for the final chapter in Kyella’s story! This is a fabulous 5+++ book and I cannot wait for more!
Holy pancakes on a stick! This book sure did not disapoint in any way!
From the very first page it enchanted me and didnt let me go till i finished it.
From the very first page we see that it picks up right were the other ended and i loved that it also showed me how strong Kyella truely is as no matter what they did to her she stayed true and disnt give up not that i thought that for a moment.
As the book went on not only did Kyella grow as a person and dhampyr so did the bond with her guys, but also with Myrin and Tristan it was marvelous to see that happing and the blessing that it gave them all.
What truely took my breath away and shocked me to my core i cant say without spoiling it but you will know when you read it!
I felt absolutely heartbroken and shocked when i read that fate kept asking my tablet why the authors was so cruel lol but it does make sence in the end i promise.
I loved how at the end of the book it names the title of current book and that of the last one made me smile.
I was nearly a sobbing mess when they held the vigil and how it was described it brought tears to my eyes and the way the whole empire came together and Kyellas speach it was truely touching!
I have high hopes for the final book and cant wait to start reading it very soon!
A War is coming to this epically high fantasy world and I am so excited to be reading this series. After the harsh cliffhanger that was book 1, with Kyella getting kidnapped. We're back into the world and what happens to Ky and the aftermath.
This story keeps going with the action, surprises, 🌶 , emotions, and so much more. Once I started reading I didn't want to put this story down.
The growth between Ky with finding her voice, her assertiveness, and making her wants/needs clear. PLUS, the guys, oh the guys, they're vying for top spots for my book boyfriends in the paranormal romance category. Elijah, Kolvar, and Dakath also grow character wise, just as much as Ky did, because in order to solidify their relationship, they had to. I will admit it was SO NICE, to see the maturity with the guys and Ky. They knew that even though they could make her mad, or hard conversations, they had them, listened and made intentions clear. *chefs kiss*
The storyline also grows along with our characters, and I love how fast pace this book and series are. Also, how fierce Myrin is! Girl Power has been activated!
This series has been a pleasure to read, and I can't wait for the final installment and how they all overcome everything being thrown their way.
Kyella is fighting to escape after being kidnapped. After finally having some form of hope, she refuses to give it up or let those who want to return her to the ruthless Emperor win.
Book two picks up immediately after book one, so I was glad to see there was no gap in the story. You will absolutely have to read book one, otherwise you will be completely lost.
The plot has been interesting, and I've enjoyed watching Kyella's character develop over the course of the series. You can already see how different she is after just one book, so I'm excited to see where the author ends with her. Her connection to her vampyres is sweet and steamy, and I love the way that they treat her. At first I was a little sketched out with then, but they've since grown on me, and I've come to love their characters. I also love Kyella's relationship with the Empress and the mentorship she's gotten. That felt like a critical part of the story that would've made her progress seem unrealistic.
With this book, I felt the plot needed a little more development when it comes to adding in action or high points to the story. Yes, there were a few, but the story needed more to keep it from plateauing, which for me it did about midway through.
This is the second book in The Vampyre’s Source trilogy and it picks up right where book on left off.
Right away, we can see how much Kyella has grown in her confidence. She’s confronted with one of her worst nightmares and holds her ground. Having her freedom, friends, and her men to support her has brought out a strength that she didn’t know she had and I am here for it.
I love watching her find herself. She’s still the same Kyella - she has a big heart, she values being free and being able to make her own decisions. Her temper comes through when she feels disrespected or in defense of her loved ones. She’s a fantastic character and her personal growth is just amazing to watch.
Her men go through their own growth, both as individuals and in their relationships with Kyella. The spice level is definitely higher than book one, a nice bonus of Ky’s growing confidence. I love that Myrin acts as both a friend and a mentor of sorts. She pushes Ky in ways that her men won’t. The supporting characters are wonderful in different ways; they all add to the story in different ways.
The plot moves quickly and is full of romance, suspense, and unpredictable twists. There is a bit of a cliffhanger but this series is rapid release so we won’t have to wait long!
What a follow up book! There’s plenty going on in this one in all aspects, the oncoming war, the development of feelings, being true to your nature - it’s fast paced with plenty to keep you engaged 😃 What I particularly like about this book is the self discover element - Kyella really comes into her own! She has to start believing in herself and when she does, wow does she become strong AF, overcoming everything that Malaki puts her through she is ready to fight for what’s right! This quote just entirely sums up her for this book: ‘I wanted to be seen. I wanted to be heard. I wanted to be known.’ What’s more is her hunky vampires are 100% behind her, they encourage her to explore what it means to be free and actually ask for what she needs…and she isn’t afraid to put their overbearing a£$e& in place of need be 🤣 The other element is the female empowerment in this book (🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻) Kyella, Myrin and Bailey are all in different circumstances but they are supportive of each other and build each other up 🥰 it’s the strengths and friendships they provide each other that gets them through everything that happens 😩 Cannot wait to see what Kyella has in store for Malaki in the final book!!
Omg!!!! Kyella is such a bad ass! She is so strong after her years hidden as thrall for the evil King Malakai. She’s been kidnapped by Holmeth a soldier ordered to bring her back to Malakai and she’s able to find the strength to strategize and plan her escape some help from her friends. I love the growing spiciness between Ky and her men Kolvar, Dakath, and Elijah. The kind of dedication and Alpha male protect instinct is sooo sexy. Upon her escape from Holmeth, Mirin declares that as a sign of war against her kingdom and plans to attack Malakai before he’s aware that his plan to kidnap Ky did not work. I love the relationship built between the two ladies and I need to know more about Barnabus (the bat). I cannot be like you left us all with that cliffhanger and I am dying to see how the war plays out given these shocking end of the story. Will Ky be ready for the sacrifices she needs to make for her men or her new home! Read this story now. It moves fast with tons of action, steamy romance, and a story line that makes you want to keep turning those pages! Must try!

I highly recommed that people read their book ruthless war and if you haven’t read this Series yet Then What are you waiting for you are really missing out on something…you wil def not regret giving this Series a chance
This second installment of The Vampyres’ Source series and Kyella’s story was fantastic! It was a story of hope, bravery, love and perseverance. While Kyella’s story is not all butterflies and rainbows, she continues to persevere with determination, courage and hope for better future for herself, those she loves, her home, and those who continue to live under the rule of Malaki. It was wonderful getting to see Kyella thrive with those she cares for, and who care for her in return, at her side. Despite the war at their doorstep, they all continue to fight for that they believe in. I’m continuously in awe of Kyella and her strength. The goodness in her shines like a beacon for all. And while Kyella is strong and independent in her own right, with Dakath, Kolvar, and Elijah at her side there isn’t anything she can’t do. I can’t wait to see where this story goes in the next installment!
"Ruthless War" is the second book in the rapid release trilogy "The Vampyres' Source" and picks up right where the first book ended. I really enjoyed the start of this book; the story immediately grabbed my attention again and I could almost see the scene playing out as an action filled film in front of me. There are some interesting developments in this story, and it's fascinating to see Kyella grow as a person and gradually become the woman she seemed destined to be.
The world building in this series is quite fascinating, and every time something new is unlocked, I feel the need to explore more about it in the future. When you like your men protective, possessive, and head over heels for their woman, you will definitely love the men in Kyella's life. It's clear they will do anything to make their woman happy and proud of who she is.
The main character, Kyella, is compelling. She’s gone through brutal scenes and has only grown in strength and determination. At the same time, I don’t feel like the author brushes aside the psychological toll that living through trauma would take. The characters surrounding Kyella show that it’s ok to be weak, tired, sad or broken. They have the wisdom to let her heal however she needs.
The Tridian Empire that she was rescued to in book one, was not full of perfect people. But it was ruled by those who serve selflessly and that love and care has led to a warm, prosperous people. I highly enjoyed exploring this kingdom alongside Kyella.
Brace for a story of a people who are going to war. The authors don’t pull their punches, this story can be as harsh as it can be full of fierce passion. Kyella, Elijah, Dakath and Kolvar are not spared from the brutality of their enemies. But they’ll fiercely fight to make sure they all make it through.
