When practical and level-headed psychology professor Blakely Donelson does something totally uncharacteristic and takes an impromptu cruise, she has no idea that she’s about to get the 101 on love.
If you like flirty heroines, swoon-worthy hunks, and a dash of dramatic angst, then you’ll adore USA Today bestselling author Jennifer Youngblood’s small-town romp.
Jennifer loves reading and writing clean romance. She believes that happily ever after is not just for stories. Jennifer enjoys interior design, rollerblading, clogging, jogging, and chocolate. In Jennifer’s opinion there are few ills that can’t be solved with a warm brownie and scoop of vanilla-bean ice cream. Jennifer grew up in rural Alabama and loved living in a town where “everybody knows everybody.” Her love for writing began as a young teenager when she wrote stories for her high school English teacher to critique. Jennifer has a BA in English and Social Sciences from Brigham Young University Hawaii where she served as Miss BYU Hawaii. Before becoming an author, she worked as the owner and editor of a monthly newspaper named The Senior Times. She now lives in the Rocky Mountains with her family and spends her time writing and doing all of the wonderful things that make up the life of a busy wife and mother.
I was so excited to read Blakely's story! If you've been following and reading the books in this series then you'll know that Blakely is Jasper's sister. Jasper married one of her best friends, Skeeter. I loved reading this and devoured it in just a few hours earlier today! I couldn't get enough of Blakely! She's smart and fun and quirky. She works as a professor at the college and has been dating a fellow professor off and on for a few years. When he cancels on her again, her friends take matters into their own hands.
Blakely is going on a cruise with Skeeter and Jasper. She doesn't get her phone or to tell said fellow professor anything. (Way to go Skeet for sticking up for her and intervening!) Thus Blakely finds herself on a cruise ship with lots of time on her hands!
This was a charming and heartwarming story. I loved Blakely and Corbin's first meeting! I was laughing and giggling so many times over them. Of course the reader knows stuff but Blakely doesn't and it just makes it so much fun!
Corbin is an MMA fighter and he just happens to be on the cruise for an exhibition fight. Perfect timing!!!
Seriously I just adored these two. I'm just sitting here grinning while I'm writing this review, thinking back on all the fun things that these two do. *happy sigh again* They both have hurts and some big things with their past relationships they need to figure out and work through. I love how honest and open they are with each other. I loved how it built trust with each other. But those past things definitely keep creeping up and causing confusion.
The ending had me grinning from ear to ear! So great and a perfect ending for this series! *Heart eyes* If you need a quick and quirky and fun and laugh inducing read, grab this one!!!
Content: Clean. Some kisses, nothing further. Some fights due to Corbin being an MMA fighter but they are clean.
I received a copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.
Blakely and Corbin are about as opposite as you can get--a college professor and a MMA fighter--yet, in matters of the heart, they're like two peas in a pod.
In an effort to get Blakely away from her on-again-off-again boyfriend, she is whisked away on an unexpected cruise where she immediately meets Corbin. And has no idea who he is. Their meet cute gave me some secondhand embarrassment, but that quickly settled into flames of attraction, zingy dialogue, and a whirlwind of both fun and danger.
I enjoyed the give and take of this relationship and the way they each had to come to terms with the other's issues, resulting in a realistic conflict. Blakely and Corbin are great characters and the compromise of their different backgrounds and identities was entertaining.
A very amusing story and a fun inclusion to the Good Girls Don't Come Last series.
Content: some mild fighting (nothing graphic); mild+ romance; very mild religion

We're back with the gang in Comfort, Alabama, but not for long because Jasper and his wife Skeeter whisk Blakely away on a cruise to help her forget about her wishy-washy boyfriend, and I use the term "boyfriend" loosely. Blakely meets Corbin before the ship even sets out to sea, and it's the best meet-cute. She has no idea that Corbin is an MMA fighter but it turns out her brother is a superfan, which was fun to watch.
Blakely and Corbin are such opposites--a psychology professor and an MMA fighter, but the characters meshed really well and their chemistry was off the charts! I loved all the witty banter that flew between them. I liked the forced proximity the cruise ship afforded Blakely and Corbin to get to know each other and move their relationship from fake to real. Both characters had recent break ups to work through, but they were open and honest with each other about their feelings toward their exes.
I agreed with Skeeter when she took away Blakely's phone and laptop so she wouldn't contact her flakey professor "boyfriend", as Blakely needed a clean break from him and didn't need to be influenced by his incessant texting and phone calls trying to win her back. But I found it annoying when Skeeter continued to keep information from Blakely. I felt she was treating her like a child instead of a grown woman and a friend.
If you're looking for a fun, fake relationship with close proximity and a little excitement this is a good read for you. This is a sweet romance with just swoony kisses. I received a complimentary copy. All thoughts and opinions in this review are my own.
I loved the back and forth, tit for tat conversations and off the charts chemistry that Corbin and Blakely had. The quick quips made for very entertaining reading. And wow did they have chemistry together. Right from the start there were stars and sparks plus lots of verbal sparring. Somehow the term Neanderthal became an endearment with them. Yes they come from opposite backgrounds and had opposite jobs but they really made sense together.
I’m not into fighting at all, can’t stand to watch it. Although the lead, Corbin, is an MMA fighter there wasn’t anything gory involved, no long fight scenes, blood is mentioned but not in a way that turned my stomach.
Best part of the book was that prologue! It completely pulled me in. So worth the journey to see how the scene played out in the end.
Rating: PG, clean, no language, kissing scenes but no getting handsy, three short fight scenes were in the book but not graphic.
I’ve only read a few books by this author and always enjoyed them so this was a fun read for me. Blakely and Corbin meet on a cruise. She’s bookish and he’s a champion fighter. Their meet is perfect and from there it’s like an episode of Love Boat. And just as enjoyable.
Blakely and Corbin both have some things to work through and the process is kind of like that TV show. Plenty of drama. Blakely was kind of wishy washy for me, but Corbin was completely lovable. It’s part of a series, but I felt like it totally stands alone.
Lots of fun supporting characters. I’ve been on a couple of cruises and had fun putting these characters in familiar settings. I’ll have to keep my eye open for Corbin. 😉
This was 3.5 star for me. Great summer read! I received a complimentary copy but a positive review was not required.
I absolutely loved the meet cute! Blakely running into Corbin the MMA fighter on a cruise ship….priceless! Their fake relationship was on fire, I loved how they interacted with each other. The sparks and fireworks were erupting right and left! I was cheering this relationship on hardcore and hoped it would turn from fake to forever. While it was lighthearted at times there were also moments of seriousness. I loved how the friends were really family to each other. Youngblood has a knack for writing an amazing RomCom novel. If you want wonderful characters that you connect with, a world that transports you out of yours and into theirs, and laugh out loud moments, then you need to read The 101 on Love! Youngblood is a must read author for RomCom fans everywhere! I received a copy of this book for free; all thoughts and opinions are my own.
This was such a fun read from Jennifer Youngblood!
Professor Blakely Donelson is having trouble getting over her ex boyfriend, so her friend convinces her to take an impromptu cruise. While there she runs into Corbin, a very attractive martial arts fighter; when they start to develop feelings for each other she starts to think maybe it is time to finally move on from her ex, but can she?
This book was a funny, quick read that was perfect for my week at the lake. It was light but also had such good character depth. I immediately fell in love with Corbin. He is a celebrity MMA fighter, but had a vulnerable side to him and a great backstory. I loved all the dimensions to his character and how he was different then what people would expect to see in an MMA fighter. He was clean-cut, religious, and known as the Choir Boy. Corbin and Blakely were just adorable together! I loved everything about their first meeting. The mistaken identity and their entire conversation was so much fun! Their flirting and humor together throughout the book was just the best and I adored how Corbin called Blakely Doc. This book was insta-love at its best! It was believable and the connection between the two of them felt real. I loved all the fun moments these two shared together. Of course both have hurts and past relationships they needed to work through before getting their HEA together. Also the “guaranteed gesture” was just the best. This one gave me all the feels and now I can’t wait to read the rest of this series. If you are a rom-com fan make sure you pick this one up. You won’t be disappointed.
I always know when I open a book by Jennifer Youngblood that I’m going to laugh. And I’m going to be taken somewhere else. Also, I’m going to get to escape the world around me for a little bit. This book gave me all three. And I loved every second of reading it.
This book starts out in Comfort. I just love the characters that live there! We finally get to see Blakely get her story. This book starts out with her in the Bachelorette auction that is going to benefit Skeet’s youth program. She’s bid on by several men, including the man who dumped her, Reid. And he ends up winning. But one thing leads to another, and soon Skeet and Jasper decide they need to get Blakely away on a cruise for a few days to clear her mind. Without her phone or computer.
That’s where she meets Corbin. I love that the reader gets to see some things in this book through both Blakely and Corbin’s eyes. Corbin is a cage fighter from California who needs a comeback. I loved seeing these two meet on the cruise ship and grow their relationship from nothing. Of course, they didn’t always have smooth sailing (see what I did there), but who does? I really loved the way Corbin knew so many great quotes. He was more than just a dumb jock.
I thought the way the author started and ended this one was so clever. It’s such a great book that you won’t want to miss!
I was sent an e-copy of The 101 on Love as a gift from the author. All opinions are my own.
Love it!! Blakely is stuck on a guy, not a good guy either, the kind of guy you DO NOT want to be stuck on. You know, the flakey kind. Yuck! To help her get over her “breakup” she goes on a cruise with Skeeter and Jasper (Jasper is Blakely’s brother.) And that is when she meets Corbin, a MMA fighter that just happens to be on the same cruise that she is on. If you LIKE:
-A first meet cute gone badly -A girl without her phone or computer for the entirety of the cruise -Two people who fall fast!! (Sometimes this happens too fast IMO, and it doesn’t really work, but I loved it in this book) -A fake relationship turned real -Great Chemistry between the MMC and the FMC
Then you want to read this. It was adorable and I look forward to reading more of Jennifer’s books!
*I received a copy of this book as an ARC reviewer, but a positive review wasn’t required. All thoughts are solely what I personally thought of this beautiful book.❤️❤️❤️
I thought this was a very cute, clean romance and I enjoyed getting to know Blakely & Corbin. I loved their nicknames for each other and their witty banter.
I haven’t read the other books in the series so I can’t compare much, but this received a solid 3 ⭐️ from me.
It took me a while to get through this book, like 2 weeks, and that’s not typical for me. Usually I take 3 days max to wrap up a book but I just couldn’t get my head in this one. The writing style personally was not my jam. It needed a bit… more of something for me. One big thing that I strongly disliked was how it started off in dual POV and then switched only Blakely’s. I really would have loved hearing more of Corbin’s side/story. He was by far my favorite character in the book.
There were a few issues with the female characters that I didn’t enjoy either. I disliked how the author was wishy washy with painting Skeet- one moment she’s very profound and smart and the next the author makes her seem dumb (this may be different in her book, but I haven’t read it). I also didn’t like how Blakely was constantly comparing Corbin with her ex Reid. I get they both were hurt by their previously failed relationships, but it didn’t come off to me that she was actually giving Corbin a real chance until the very end.
Other than the few things that I didn’t like, it was a very cute read with like-able characters. I would recommend if you need something like after reading something heavy or being in a slump.
I received this as an ARC from BookSirens and these opinions are completely my own.
If you enjoy sweet romcoms with instant love, chemistry, great banter all in a quick read, then this is the book for you.
Blakely is having a hard time letting go of the guy she thinks she’s in love with back home. In enters Corbin and he makes things much easier. Add to that the cruise setting and the fact that he is a very attractive martial arts fighter, maybe she can finally move on. Maybe. And see how worthy she is of real love.
There are times when I struggle with the instant love trope but in this one I think Jennifer Youngblood nailed it and I was 100% ok with it. I wish there was a little bit more on how their life together could work at the end, but I can also let my imagination finish that part of the story up. The beauty of reading, right?
Love the banter between the two it carries the story along well and keeps you entertained. Professor Blakely has met her match in this attractive fighter Corbin and I love that he can hold his own with her. And teach her a few things about love.
I really enjoyed both of these characters and how they help each other to move on from the past and see themselves in a new light, with hope shining bright. I really enjoyed the way Blakely views people even when she is being mistreated, how she tries to give them the benefit of the doubt. And the support she has from her friends is special. Definitely makes you want to go back and read all their stories in the series as well. Though you can 100% read this as a stand-alone if you want to.
Pick up this quick romance packed full of swoon, life, and laughs. It is a book meant to be enjoyed by all.
*I received a complimentary copy from the author. A review was not required, and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
I really enjoyed this story. It builds in a short timeframe, but kept me believing they were meant to be together. The romance was really great and it could be read as a standalone just on those merits, but I really recommend reading the whole series in order. It will give the reader the best experience and enjoyment. On the surface I can’t say that an MMA fighter is a male main character that would automatically appeal to me, but I ended up loving him just as much as the other characters in the series. The author wrote a great story and engaging characters. I liked that the “fake” of the relationships didn’t drag out too long since it was pretty clear how much connection the couple felt. I have one issue with this book, and, in fact, the entire series. There seems to be this underlying message/prejudice that men are only good/worthwhile/worth loving if they are employed in “manly” professions and activities, for instance, firefighters, MMA fighter, hardware store owner, boxing. Men with white collar jobs, or who don’t work out a lot are consistently soft, weak, bad character, disloyal, etc. It wouldn’t have bothered me so much in one book, but seeing it carry through pretty much the whole series it started to feel pretty pointed. Other than that, however, I really did enjoy this book and the whole series.
The 101 on Love is the first book by Jennifer Youngblood I’ve read, and it will definitely not be my last. It was a delightful read full of banter, pop culture references, intense chemistry, and swoony kisses. It was so good.
I loved how Blakely was educated and dedicated to her profession, but she still struggled with her self-esteem. She was so relatable and likable. I think she and her friends would be great friends to have.
I loved all the details Jennifer provided about MMA fighting. It is not a sport that I am familiar with, so it was interesting to learn more. Of course, Corbin made MMA fighting so much more appealing. He is definitely a swoony renaissance man. I love how he banters back and forth with Blakey. It is so sexy to see a man who is physically fit, educated, and witty.
Some of favorite parts of this book are: -the Wide Sargasso Sea and Jane Eyre references -the Channing Tatum references -the meet-cute -the first fake kiss -Skeet mixing up words -Neanderthal references -Corbin -Corbin’s guaranteed gesture -how fast they both fall
I will definitely be picking up the rest of the books in the series. It was such a fun read. I loved Corbin and Blakely together.
Thank you to the author for the gifted copy. All opinions expressed in this voluntary review are my own.
QOTD: Do you love reading a series with the stories and characters all interconnected?? I certainly do!! Especially when the Jennifer is writing the series and her characters are best friends each finding love with the help of the other friends. Poor Blakely has been through the wringer with love and I just knew she was going to have a fantastic new love journey. And while Insta-love isn’t my favorite trope, I liked the “fake dating” part that never really was very fake. Both Blakely and Corbin were good characters at the start but each of them grew a good bit throughout the story and learned how to let in real love. Each of them had rough relationships in the past but together they figured out how to let go of the safe/known and jump headfirst into the unknown possibilities of love in front of them. I definitely recommend you get this book and the series on your TBR, they are adorable, engaging and have plenty of swoon for all romance book lovers.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. I am not required by anyone to write a positive review and the opinions expressed herein are entirely my own.
A clean sweet story that you just don’t want to end. Blakely is a psychology professor who has been dating Reid a professor at the same college. Unfortunately, he can’t make up his mind, so he keeps her on a string with an on again off again relationship using his children as an excuse. This last time her brother Jasper and Skeet take matters into their own hands by taking her on a cruise without phone or computer to get her out of this toxic environment. On the cruise she meets Corbin Ledger a MMA fighter known as The Choir Boy of Compton. The story has funny moments which will have you laughing but also excitement when things don’t go as planned. They are attracted to each other, but will they be able to get over their fear and be able to see what’s right in front of them?

What a finale to the good girls don't come last loved it.
Blakely and Corbin were so sweet together.Loved their chemistry and banter from the moment they met. They are both wary of relationships as they have been hurt in the past.
Blakely is whisked off for a cruise by her best friend Skeet who is also her sister in law and her brother Jasper after she has her heart broken.Corbin is on the same cruise to regain his championship which he lost to his rival.
The sparks fly between them and when they end up in a fake relationship their feelings get involved. Then their pasts catch up to them.
Follow their journey to love and a happily ever after with lots of laughter, banter, family support, friendships, tears,a feisty heroine and a swoony hero.
I recieved a free advanced review copy of this book for free and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
I am a fan of Jennifer Youngblood's writing. Whether it is contemporary romance, romantic suspense, or romantic comedy, she can knock it out of the park.
Blakely is a psychology professor who has been dumped by her long-term boyfriend. Her friends hold an intervention and send her on a cruise without a phone or computer to communicate with the "loser" boyfriend. While on the cruise, she meets Corbin, who is a well-known MMA fighter and is nothing like her "type". Lucky for her, her type isn't around. To help Corbin, and in a moment of insanity, she agrees to a fake relationship while on the cruise. The more time they spend the together, the more sparks that fly.
I absolutely loved the relationship between these two. The story is well-written and a clean, wholesome romantic read.
I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.
Blakely isn't sure what to think when Reid bids on her at the charity bachelorette auction since Reid had been trying to patch things up with his ex-wife. When Reid has to cancel the date, Skeet takes her phone and laptop away and whisks her off on a cruise. MMA fighter Corbin is on the cruise for an exhibition fight. When Blakely and Corbin run into each other on the cruise, sparks fly. I received a free copy of this ebook from the author. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. I love this amusing fun romance. I am surprised how much I liked Corbin since I have never been into MMA, but he is such a sweet man. I also love the scintillating dialogues between Blakely and Corbin.
This sweet Rom-Com finds Blakely still in Comfort Alabama. All her friends have found love and she is feeling lonely. Skeeter, her sister-in -law, gets Blakely to participate in an auction for her charity. Blakely gets the highest bid of the night with Reid, her ex-boyfriend bidding $2800 for a date with her. But just 2 hours before their date, Reid cancels on Blakely once again to take care of his children and ex-wife. Skeeter and Jasper are worried about Blakely and take her on a last minute cruise of the West Indies where she literally runs into Corbin, an MMA fighter doing a New Year's Eve fight on the cruise. I love the characters from Comfort and this is another winner by Jennifer Youngblood!
Blakely and Reid. Blakely and Corbin. A little love triangle in the latest from Comfort, Alabama. Blakely is the last of her friends to find her "one". She's playing second fiddle to Reid's past and children. She deserves more, but finds quiet security with Reid. Her brother and sister-in-law remove her from Comfort for her own good and she meets Corbin. Exciting and the total opposite of Reid. Would she be willing to take a chance with him?
I love the author's use of playful banter and her wonderful character development. Some may find the lack of steam isn't to their liking, but the author's use of words and imagery I find intriguing.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Cute whirlwind romance where two people going through some tough times meet on a cruise and find instant chemistry! But is love ever that simple?
I haven’t read the other books in this series but you can tell right off how close this group of women are and that they always have each others backs. Blakely is one focused on in this story and she is in need of an intervention! And that intervention leads to a cruise and running into a handsome MMA fighter!
I loved the chemistry between Blakely and Corbin. They really hit it off so well and the sparring was great! The “guarantee” gestures were super fun as well and the ending was super cute!
This was a quick read and a nice clean book. Thank you to the author for gifting me a copy!
The 101 on Love is Book 5 in Good Girls Don't Come Last by Jennifer Youngblood. I thought that the story was an enjoyable rom com. Blakely thinks that fellow professor, Reid, is her heart's desire. There relationship is complicated. I like that the author takes a little time to give background on some of the main characters. If you have read all 5 of these terrific stories, you already know who is who, but, many readers only read some books in a series and the background is helpful. I think the road to finding true love is not easy, and for Blakely it is hard. I loved the ending… perfection! I received an arc for free and am leaving my review voluntarily.
So much fun! Blakely is the last of her friends to be married and she is definitely feeling it. This terrific group of friends from the small town of Comfort, AL definitely know how to take care of one another. When Blakey's friends decide she needs some intervention so she can let go of an unhealthy relationship they are thorough by taking her phone and computer and sending her on a cruise. What she finds there surprises all of them. Fun explodes as she meets one of her brother's heroes. There is never a dull moment with this crowd of friends. I loved the witty dialogue and seeing the characters deal with raw emotions. This is a quick read that will keep you smiling.
Such a fun excrusion. We have opposites attract in this professor and MMA fighter! It was so sweet to see the softer side of a toughened fighter who had just been through a hard breakup and professional loss. And then we have a smart, soft-spoken professor who is on the fence about a relationship she has. Bringing them together was something that worked so well. Honestly, when I first started, I wasn't sure how the personalities and types would jive. But they did! SO WELL! The chemistry was excellent and the real dilemmas and decisions were honest and something that anyone would have to deal with. I loved it!
I’ve read just the 4 & 5th book in this series, and the main characters from the 4th were prevalent in this one so I was glad I had read it first. The characters from the first three books in the series rarely appeared in this book. The 101 on Love can be read as a stand alone.
I love cruises (my trip to Saint Maarten was better than Blakely and Corbin’s) and I like fake relationships, though I would have liked to see better communication between Blakely and Corbin. A better trope description for this book would probably be forced-to-start a relationship or vacation romance rather than truly fake relationship .
I received a copy of the book at my request and the opinions here are my own.
Take one girl whose heart is constantly broken by a flaky ex who treats her like a convenient option, one MMA fighter whose opponent steals his girlfriend, two meddling relatives and a bunch of reporters, toss them all on a cruise ship for a week and what do you have? The beginnings of a truly hilarious fake romance rom-com in the making. I loved the different adventures that Blake and Corbin got themselves into while they try to fake a relationship even though they have real chemistry together. The story is a sweet one that is fun to read and both of the main characters are quirky feisty complicated messes who compliment each other well and deserve their HEA ending.
SO GOOD! I loved every bit of this book! Great characters! Love the cruise, the island thieves, and the guaranteed gesture. Great writing! I love that there was a reason that Jasper would treasure of work to go on a cruise. He friends intervention was great too. Sometimes we have to complete remove ourself from the situation to be able to see it better. Of course that still didn't help Blakely, she had to have Reid back to see that she no longer wanted him. Loved this!
I received an advanced copy of this book and am voluntarily sharing my honest opinion.
Fun, Witty, Opposites Attract, Perfect Ending to Great Series...
Corbin and Blakely were so much fun and the perfect opposites attracting and combusting together. Their banter was amazing but they also opened up to each other about their pasts so they really got to know each other quickly which enabled them to fall fast during the cruise. It was also fun to have Skeeter and Jasper along after reading their story (also available on KU - as is the series). It was a quick read I could not put down waiting to see what would happen. Enjoy!
This is a nicely written story of rebound, finding your soul mate and recognizing and choosing a healthy relationship. Blakely can’t seem to see she’s in a dead-end relationship regardless of how much her family and friends point it out to her. Corbin is coming off a bad breakup also. Together they realize there’s way more to a good relationship than what their ex’s offered. Their “guaranteed” gesture is a nice wrap up. I enjoyed following Blakely and Corbin’s journey. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
