This is my first encounter with Gary (<-- Batpig) and as far as I'm concerned it won't be my last. It's just a ton of fun, with a appropriately silly story (but one that actually works!) and wonderfully lively art.

Gary is a fun character, but it's his friends and all the background characters that really bring the whole thing to life. Full of lovely silly jokes. Yes!

Having saved the world (or at least his neighborhood) in Batpig: When Pigs Fly (Batpig #1), Gary and his friends Brooklyn and Carl are back. This time, they are stuck in a math class about fractions that never ends. It turns out that the clock tower of the school building was hit by lightning, and the mild mannered custodian (who has helped Gary find his retainer a whole bunch of times) has turned into Time Guy, and is slowing down time in order to punish students for not being appreciative enough. Gary realizes that the process could be reversed if everyone is having fun, so laboriously brings in everyone's favorite activities. The idea works, and everyone as a new appreciation for the custodian. There are additional stories centering around two space aliens who unleash a rain of stinky socks on the world, and after reading Carl's worst fears, send a bumblebee kitten to terrorize the neighborhood. This happens when Gary and his friends are watching their favorite superhero film a movie, and when Gary needs to save the day, he must borrow his idol's costume. When the bumblekitten threatens the pet shop where Carl has a new acquarium on layaway with Ms. Fishbol, he overcomes his fear to try to save one of his favorite people. As always, Gary and his friends do their best to fight evil, no matter how strange it is.
Strengths: Gary and his friends are such a fun group. They support each other (Gary and Brooklyn are contributing secretly to Carl's aquarium), but also give each other a hard time (they make fun of his attitude toward being Batpig and wearing his uniform all the time). There are lots of fun details about school that ring absolutely true, and I loved that the kids in class all supported and thanked the hard working custodian. The aliens are goofy, but set up the scene for Batpig to save the day nicely. The illustrations are colorful and fun. This graphic novel is the closest thing I've seen to old style comic books like Richie Rich. Quite delightful
Weaknesses: Batpig's powers could be used for better things, but then, so could Dog Man's. It's enough for him just to save his neighborhood.
What I Really Think: Definitely purchasing, and my students will be glad to see the continuation of Gary's story. (If this sounds lukewarm, it's because I'm typing the review with one hand after installation of my RoboGrip on the first day of summer vacation, and it's harder than I thought it would be!)

What a fantastic second book in the Batpig series! Gary Yorkshire and his friends Brooklyn and Carl are in maths class learning fractions which seems to be taking forever. After what feels like an hour Gary looks at the clock but sees that only two minutes have passed, that can’t be right can it? Soon the whole class including the teacher are suffering when the fractions class seems to never end. Gary decides to go to the bathroom to slip into his disguise as Batpig, but will he be able to speed up time and bring an end to the never-ending class?

This book is so brilliant and had me laughing out loud throughout! Just like in the first book in the Batpig series, Batpig: When Pigs Fly, this book is filled with two separate stories, along with a mini intermission story, all arranged to look like individual comics to read. I love the way this book looks, a little bigger than the normal size of paperbacks and filled with glossy pages of illustrations and text throughout. I love all three of the stories in this book, but the last two really made me laugh even more than the first due to how those two are related and what exactly Batpig has to face and how he manages to come up with a plan to finally defeat what’s there. Each story is filled with so much good humour, with the illustrations really adding to this.

The whole book looks like a comic, with there being a front page to each individual story and then comic-style illustrations throughout, reminding you of the superhero comics of the past. There’s so much good humour from the illustrations alone. Even without the words there are such funny expressions and moments shown, and the way everyone looks, especially that thing that Batpig has to defeat in the last story was so funny to see.

I read this book in one sitting it was that good and it’s just as brilliant as the first book in the series and although it continues the adventures of Batpig, you can read this book without reading the first, although the first book will give you an insight into how Batpig came to be (which itself is a funny story). Overall I would really recommend this to everyone, it’s just so funny, clever and keeps making me laugh out loud, and it’s fast becoming my favourite children’s series!

Czytacie czasami komiksy?
Karola – rybę i nietoperzycę Gryzeldę.
Nas gigantyczny potwór przypominający i pszczołę i kotka rozbawił.
Polecam!

Batpig: Too Pig to Fail is a children’s comic book-style graphic novel that is filled with adventure and features a new superhero, a pig called Gary Yorkshire, and his classmates.

The book features three stories, two at eleven chapters, and a short story that is just one chapter long, written as the intermission.

The first story, The Class that Wouldn’t End! sees Batpig fighting a new evil villain, the school janitor, who after a lightning storm destroyed the school’s clocktower and embedded a clock face on his top has learned how to control time and is making the school day go on and on to teach the kids a lesson.

The second story (the short one), features Batpig’s classmates Brooklyn and Carl in Aquarium Dreams. The friends are visiting the local pet shop where Carl is saving to buy a top-of-the-range fish tank (he’s a fish).

The last story, Lights, Camera, Chaos features the three friends, some aliens, a very rude megastar who Batpig loves, and some smelly socks.

The stories are all very imaginative, a whole lot of fun, and enjoyable from beginning to end. They are filled to the brim with comedy and I loved that the short story plays a role in the last one.

This is a book that I can see children giggling along with. Asides from the humour the three friends were wonderful characters who always looked out for one another and were on the side of ‘good’.

The illustrations are amazing. They tell the story, even without the words, and are bright and colourful. Whether you have an avid reader or a reluctant one, if they like humorous stories and superheroes then give them a copy of this book, it will keep them entertained and amused and I can see them wanting more – Good job this isn’t the only book in the series!

When math class seems to go ridiculously long (so long even the teacher had to take 2 bathroom breaks and is on his 3rd go through of the material), Gary realizes maybe something that requires a superhero is going on. In the next adventure some aliens passing by decide they have time to stop and mess with the locals a bit. First they send a rain of sweaty gym socks, and then they read a local’s (Carl’s) brain to figure out what the scariest thing they could unleash on the planet would be…and a bumblekitten is hence unleashed on an unsuspecting populous (mashup of Carl’s 2 worst fears, bumblebees and kittens…he’s got issues). Of course the only one who can stop the bumblekitten is Batpig.

Harrell gets kudos for coming up with two problems for a superhero to face that are pretty funny but do require some smarts from our hero. This was a fun read, and I enjoyed it more than the first in the series.

Notes on content:
Language: None
Sexual content: None
Violence: The bad guys get apprehended without too much violence, more clever diversions.
Ethnic diversity: Most characters are animals, the humans have a variety of skin tones and appear to be American.
LGBTQ+ content: None specified
Other: The rain of gym socks is pretty gross in concept (just don’t imagine too hard).

This is such an obvious success for young readers; I would approximate between ages 6- 12. Presented in a graphic novel format, very similar in style to DogMan, this comic spread looks at BatPig - it's basically like if Spiderman was actually bitten on the nose by a radioactive bat instead of a spider, fancied himself a superhero and called himself Gary (yes, maybe it doesn't have quite the same ring to it!).

Gary is hilarious - the graphic novel is filled to bursting with funny one liners, amazing illustrations in a comic style, and the story is quite generous too in length. In terms of audience and content, it leans towards a slighter younger audience than similar stories like DogMan do, largely because the pages have less dialogue and more spacing, but I think it really could be enjoyable for quite a large age range. I certainly enjoyed it, and it's been a generous 20+ years since I met the right age category!

The second book in the series of Batpig, it's just another day in the life of good ol' Gary, aka Batpig whose superhero antics are just as fun as they are about justice. In this book, he's fighting against time, literally-- discovering that time is stopped/slowed down in math class, he realizes that the janitor has something to do with it when the clock tower is struck and the clock is stuck to the janitor who is controlling time.

There's a lot of fun in the story and unique characters and I kind of love that Gary has a thing about not using the "tinkle pass" in class, but that's his escape plan to help his friends in math class by making it fun and entertaining to make time move again.

Loads of fun with the humor that makes Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Dog Man popular.

""Have more fun, class! Fun harder!" And the class did. They had as much fun as they could. "I'm making a snowman on a snowman!" "I'm chessing so hard!" "Pogo!!" "

All Children that read comics with cartoon illustrations will adore this book lay out in a cartoon fashion, with the words written in a bubble just like inside comics. The brightly cover funny paperback Batpig : Too Pig To Fail is the second book in the series and it’s so adorable with lots of animals, that all children will relate to.

I loved the mystery surrounding what happens to Batpig, this one is definitely my favourite.

Something strange is going on, batpig keeps waking up exactly the same time in the during the night.

And there’s quite a funny thing happening when Batpig, is at school the clock doesn’t seem to be moving, but there must be a logical explanation what’s happening to the clocks.

I recommend children reading all the Batpig series. The first book in the series is When Pigs Fly, that was published 4th August 2022. Batpig Too Pig to Fail is the second book.

I would like to thank Walker Books for sending me this brilliant book to read and review.

Batpig is back with 2 stories and a short intermission. In the first story, math class is dragging on, and it's not just a metaphor. Someone has stopped time! Can Batpig get it back going so math class can end? In the second story, a giant kitten/bee hybrid has been sent to Earth by aliens and is breaking into the characters' favorite store. The first story was a lot funnier than the second for me and very relatable for kids who feel like school just won't end. There are stinky gym socks, kid heroes being better than celebrities, aliens, and friendship all in one. I'm not the target demographic, but I appreciate the plot being a bit more complex compared to Dog Man. For fans of Dog Man, the Investi-Gators, and Super Turbo.

Readers are going to be excited to see this next installment in the Batpig series. It's just as humorous and adventurous as the first book. In one story, Batpig has to make time fly and in another he saves his neighborhood after a downpour of stinky gym socks and a Bumblekitten goes on the attack. A graphic novel series with lots of kid appeal.

Read volumes one and two today and thoroughly enjoyed them both - loved the illustrations and the puns, word play and story themes were great. The characters are three friends who stick together through thick and thin. An "evil" villain super hero too - The Crimson Swine! If I were still teaching they'd be my new read-alouds.

Another brilliant and hilarious installment of Batpig. The villains are zany and creative (though not really all that villainous), and the guest appearance by Crimson Swine really made Story #3. Plus, you be can’t beat the strong bond of friendship between Gary, Brook and Carl. It really is the best part of the series. Another must-read by Rob Harrell.

Gary Yorkshire AKA Batpig in two separate adventures, one involving a battle against Time Guy who has found a way to slow time, and make Gary's math class on fractions seem to last forever. In the second story aliens decide to cure their boredom, and attack Earth, and Gary meets his favorite superhero The Crimson Swine. Laugh out loud humor.

A delightful installment in the BatPig series. Love the art and the humor. Also love the villains who show up in Story #3 (which I won't spoil). I also like that the author showed the math teacher's point of view (which I'll spoil: he loves video games too!).

4 stars (I really liked it)

This is weird and silly but it gives off such Dog Man-ish vibes that I can see my students really enjoying it. The book is divided into 3 stories (although the second and third stories are kind of part of the same story). Silly and fun.

This was a fun read with my kids - silly and ridiculous about a pig who is secretly batpig and has various comic adventures. I could see kids even reading it in middle school and finding it silly.
