First, someone in San Jose has it out for witches and is hunting them down and killing them. Sadistically.
Second, there's a new vampire in town using his powers of seduction to talk young college women into "donating" their blood.
Each witch murder brings up a new horrifying memory Sarah Jane would rather forget. And to solve them she'll have to face long buried family secrets and an enemy far worse than all the monsters she’s ever faced: her father.
Handling the vampire will be even trickier, because let's face it at nearly 50 years old, hunting vampires is a young woman's game and a little out of her purview. But when her daughter's roommate disappears, Sarah Jane suspects the vampire and she knows she can't stand by idly, because if she doesn't do something, her daughter will.
And if all of that wasn’t enough to deal with, her new spirit guide is insisting that she start dating. She isn’t sure what’s scarier. Finding the murderer, stopping a vampire, or dating for the first time in more than twenty-five years.
Another great read from Wendy Wang. As usual, this story was enjoyable, filled with likeable characters, a bit of romance and a bit of magic. Ms. Wang definitely has a "magic" touch.
This book is even better than the first one. Now, there's more action in the family and the family members really start to shine plus the past is exposed shedding some light on why some of them behave the way they do. Love the fact that these are strong women who despite loss and pain make life better and give purpose to blood ties. I enjoyed that the main story line and the secondary (Selena's) are really unique and so complete but complement the mood of the book in a very good way. I just finished it and guess what, I couldn't wait to download the third book. 🧙🏻♂️
This has it all, family of witches, ghosts, police procedural, serial killer, and plenty of twist and some surprise characters.
Sarah Jane and her partner have just been assigned a murder case of a woman who turns out to be a witch with a symbol on her arm that reminds Sarah Jane of a symbol her mother had on her arm. Lots of revelations revealed about SJ and her sisters past.
Along with that, SJ daughter is out for vengeance against vampires sets her sights on one who is using her collage as blood bank. But in a twist, she ends up getting on the radar of a far more predatorial vampire and the initial one she was hunting becomes an ally.
I loved that the author brought in the DOL (Defenders of Light) from her Witches series to help out with SJ case. It also introduced a new protentional love interest for SJ. Can't wait for the next book.
I’ll start off with how much I love this author. I have been waiting for this and man did it hit it out of the park.
It’s been a while since I was with these characters and it was like I never left. This was fast paced with a multi layered plot. It was so dang good. I could not put it down. It left me wanting more. And while numerous things were wrapped up there’s a plot that still awaits.
Wendy Wang writes characters that just make you feel like you are visiting with old friends. Then she sprinkles magic and mystery to sweeten the visit. What I love most about this series as well as her other witches series…the main theme in all of these books is family, loyalty and love. With a hefty dose of murder, mystery and mayhem.
I highly suggest you check her out. You will thank me!
Witch on the Cusp, Book 2 in Wendy Wang's Midlife Spirit Guides Paranormal Women's Fiction Series did not disappoint and was every bit as good as Book 1.
I like Sarah Jane's witchy family and how she gets a new spirit guide to help her solve her Jane Doe murder case.
Bringing in Andy, an old boyfriend, from the DOL ( Defenders of Light) to help her solve the case, means revealing to her boss and her partner, Rob Rodríguez that she is a witch.
The story is fast-paced, and we learn about SJ's tragic family story. This will keep you reading long into the night!
I've said it once, I'll say it again - Wendy Wang can do no wrong - Loved this second installment in this new series - really enjoyed the main story that brought new information to the reader as far as Sarah Janes background and liked how there was a few side stories that gave you glimpses into some of the other characters lives and backgrounds, especially with Sarah Janes daughter, Selena and sister, Rainey. Will be eagerly looking forward to the next in the series.
Witch on the Cusp Is very SIMILAR to her other series...at times scenes from first series popped up in my minds eye with a turn of the page, focus is in the right book series. Its an enjoyable read ; easy, quick read. New characters seem to pop out of no where, which helps to move the scene forward with the additions and their super power or problem...so the book holds your attention leaving the reader with lots of questions of wonder. Its fun for a change. Enjoy!
I stumbled across Wendy Wang and fell in love with her witty characters. I enjoyed the interaction with the Sprit Guides, but felt like the story line had gaps in it. It was interesting how Selena’s character is developing. Larkin remains an anomaly. Each Sister could carry a series of their own. Perhaps, the gaps could be foreshadowing new books. Overall, it was a satisfying read.
This was an awesome second book in this series. It had Lots of mystery. I love the characters & how they support each other. I also recognise a character from the Witches of Palmetto Point series. It dealt with some of the mystery to the sisters childhood & their mothers death. I can't wait to see what happens in book 3.
Book 2 in the series was slower in some ways than book 1 but covered more paranormal beings with vampires and sorcerers. We learn more about the Prentice family and what happened to the matriarch. Excited to see how book 3 wraps up this story but would gladly read more if there were as I enjoy the midlife aspects of SJ’s story.
I love this book. It’s rare for a book to grab on to me quite the way this one did. I love the characters and I’m excited to have met the new ones that were introduced. I look forward to how SJ’s world continues to evolve.
This book was fast moving, interesting, and exciting. I love that it takes place in the South Bay. I grew up in the East Bay so I know and have been to many places in the book. Thank you Wendy Wang for another good story.
I loved this book and can't wait for the next one. Every book gets better and better. I always feel like I'm part of the adventure. I won't give anything away. Just get this book and find out for yourself.
I enjoyed reading this book from beginning to end. Each chapter was so interesting and I could relate to each of the characters. Can’t wait for the next book!!!
Loved this book. Wendy Wang. Has done it again. Read all the Palmetto books loved them too. Can hardly wait to read number three. May have to go back and re-read Palmer to witches again it has been awhile.
Imaginative, strong, and clever characters support an intriguing plot. The paranormal aspects are neither graphic or too scary for most any reader. Well done!
I am seriously enjoying this series! I am not normally into some of this but the segue from one character to the next is so well done! And we all need a little more magic!
I did like the character of Sarah Jane, because she was strong and tenacious! The plot was good and the story kept me interested. A very unique twist at the end. I am ready to read the next one!
Good cozy paranormal mystery about a detective who’s also a witch. At the scene of a murder, Sarah Jane discovers that someone is stealing souls and it ties in with her own family history and its secrets. A good subplot with one of her daughters.
It needed something, more detail, more suspense...something. Every chapter was too short and i felt too many things were just glossed over. The story has a great base but needs more..
I like this author. The story keeps me interested and I like how she works in the paranormal with the detective's job. After finishing this one, I got the first book in the series, now I'm off to get the 3rd.
I mean the book was ok it’s one of those it’s me type things. I read to 60 and just couldn’t get into the book . Great book just not for me keep writing what u love bc u r good at it it
A great addition to the series. I loved the fact that Sarah's daughter is taking some things into her own hands and learning some lesson. Love this series. Highly Recommend.
