Brett, an omega recently rescued by the Alphabits, has been in captivity so long—in wolverine form—he’s nearly forgotten how to be human… let alone how to adult given that he was taken as a teen.
Brett needs time, patience and reasons to smile… probably not a mate. Except, fate never seems to plan its timing.
Chance, a golden retriever shifter, is a counselor at the New Haven center for omegas. He’s as patient, kind and empathetic as his animal counterpart—the perfect man to help Brett heal and learn to trust.
But first he’ll need to get past his fated mate showing up as his newest group therapy member. And earn Brett’s trust… shouldn’t be too hard, right?
A Team A.L.P.H.A. and Alphabits spin-off series Knot Alone is the third book in a brand new series by Crista Crown and Susi Hawke. We've loved our soldiers and our mafiosos and all the good they've done in the world, but what happens after the saving is over and the healing begins? As always, you can expect to find naughty, knotty scenes of steamy passion, and all the fluffy mpreg feels and crazy antics you’d look for from Susi Hawke and Crista Crown.
I'm a total fan of M/PREG Paranormal Romances, first and foremost as a reader. I'm excited to share my own omegaverse(s) with you. What's not to love about adorable Omegas and the Alpha men who love them? If I'm not writing about men sporting baby bumps, I'm definitely reading about them!
I'm a native of Las Vegas, NV, so I'm pre-wired to love everything weird ~ although I don't find any kind of love to be weird. I'm a cis woman who's been happily married to the same lovable lug for 18 years. We have a 16yr old son, well, at least I think we do? Either that, or we have a ghost that eats all our food and uses up all wifi playing xbox while screaming into a headset.
As a new author, it's been amazing to find the amount of support that I've been given from readers and my fellow authors. Feel free to message me, I love to chat with fellow readers. Am I a reader? Heck yeah! In fact, I'm never certain that I can completely trust an author who isn't a fellow bibliophile.
I will try to update here when I'm doing promotional parties & chats. I usually do those on Facebook. If you haven't already signed up for my newsletter, you should totally do it! I only send out NL's to announce new releases or important announcements. I also like to note in my NL what I'm currently reading along with a cover shot and the link for anyone who is interested.
First off I am thrilled to find out this was not the last book of the series!!!! Can't wait for the next book! Part of the reason I loved this book is hands down Chance and Brett. Adore both of them and Chance cracks me up! You never know what will cone out of his mouth! The two of them are so incredibly sweet together! For a series that has had it's characters go through some dark stuff in their pasts, it balances that very well with the sweetness and humor!
This series is a spin off from the team alpha / alphabits stories but instead of focusing on the guys who save people, this is about the ones who were saved.
But one thing I have to say is this, while these guys in the treatment facility suffered from some really horrible things, they don't really talk about it. Its glossed over and while I understand why, there will be times where you start scratching your head and asking yourself, huh? No one wants the victim to suffer, but some angst is expected.
So onto the story.
Brett is a wolverine omega who was kidnapped at 16 and made to be a pet and not allowed to be human. He was also forcibly bred. He is rescued by the alphabits.
Chance is a golden retriever shifter who is a counselor at the center.
In Brett's very first group session, they smell each other and boom, fated mates. Chance also smells Brett and finds out that Brett is pregnant. So they date and eventually move in together.
Now listen, I love fluffy and no angst. But if you have people who have been captured for 10 years and was not even allowed to speak and he didn't need help learning how to people again?
I jumped into the spin off of a spin off of a series and I don't think I should have LOL. This was sweet and I loved how caring and patient Chance was with his mate, but also I'm not a huge fan of a major part of the plot (personal preference for sure, I'm sure others are totally fine with it.)
I like to give a quick review of all 3 books at once. I have given every other series I have read that goes with this a 5 star rating. These 3 books, well I do like the omega counseling center and that they have set up a campus for them to live on and learn how to live, take of themselves again. Many were badly abused. In the Last story Brett had been a pet, in other words he was in his Shifter status for 10 years and bred. Never getting pregnant until right before he got out. His true mate was a Retriever named Chance who was also one of the counselors. In the first story, I did feel that had the most tie to the original stories because they had already introduced Wyatt. How he was used as a prostitute by Uriel Stanislav instead of telling him about his cousin Fedor. The Novaks took him in and made him part of their family before taking him to the center to heal. The middle book, was my least favorite probably because the only connection it had to the earlier series were through people like River and the Hernandez Brothers in this case through Luis. Although it was in this book that River and the Hernandez Brothers decide that Stahl is maybe not for them and they are coming up with a new plan. I want to see what happens. All in all there was just not the excitement that there was in all the other series. Dr. Evans is also in this one. Baby doctor. And mate to Luis. But what is weird is there was the baby doctor in the Novaks. Or maybe it was Team ALPHA. But she got married to one of the sisters. Weird because then we heard nothing about her...so we have to create another tree one. Recommend the series but it is not my most highly recommended!
I loved Hawke and Crown's original Team ALPHA and Alphabits series as well as the spin-offs. If you can start at the beginning and read through them all you will not be disappointed. Everything and every bodies' (lots of characters I had to keep track in a notebook) lives became intertwined. Such great mate pairings and a passel of pups, cubs, and other babies. The love, comforting protection afforded rescued Omegas and young children regardless of designation was memorable.
Brett the Omega in the story was given that same care and understanding after his rescue from a decade long traumatic kidnapping and coercion for one being forced to remain shifted. This is the first time I encountered a Wolverine shifter. Chance has always been a favorite of mine. His happy, tail wagging, Golden Retriever personality really is on full display once he scents his mate. Luckily Brett balances Chance out. He calms him with a touch. They are perfect together despite all that Brett has been forced to endure and overcome.
This book starts with Trauma. Brett is a former foster child who spent time homeless before he was enslaved. His chief tormentor is captured and convicted, but was part of a bigger shifter slavery ring, and there is no information about other victims or ringleaders brought to justice in this book.
Brett is rescued and meets Chance, a trauma counselor. They're fated mates, and the rest of the story is them overcoming some of Brett's issues. It's not exactly low angst, but the conflict is pretty mild.
So, why four stars? Chance's issues are never really addressed. Why doesn't he have friends? Where is his family? He's just a silly golden retriever trauma counselor.
Brett had the potential to be an interesting character. He has a lot of trauma going all the way back to his childhood, but none of it comes up. He has no hobbies. No special knowledge. No ambition. He's not weak, nor especially strong.
A sweet story that just feels a little superficial.
After ten long years in captivity, Brett just got rescued by the Alphabits, forced to stay in his shifter form. When he goes to his first counseling session, the counselor, Chance, smells good and Brett feels drawn to him. Brett needs time and patience, but he gets a fated mated instead. Luckily, Chance is willing to give Brett all the time to get over what happened to him.
This excellent, low angst book shows that even when horrible things happen to these guys, something good can still occur. Considering what happened to these guys, I will say there would be some angst, but they seem to gloss over what happened to them, so there isn't much angst at all. I liked Chance, and Brett was sweet. The two made sense together, and Chance could give Brett the space he needed while still being there for him.
A rescued pregnant omega wolverine finds his true mate...a golden retriever!
I have missed this world. Old friends appear. New ones are made. Past trauma and OCD are dealt with...with dignity and understanding. I feel in love along with Chance and Brett. And there are babies! Ooh, and a comfy red adult onsie. You are gonna love this book! I can't wait for the next one. Please, read the previous books. Time. Well. Spent.
I adore Chance. He's a bit ADHD but his heart is gold. Finding his mate has him on unsure footing. He's uncertain if Brett needs him to react as a counselor or a mate. Brett's adult life has been one long nightmare. I liked that he's willing to be so open in his communication with Chance. His obstacles are numerous but he knows that Chance will stand beside him no matter what. Highly recommended author and series
Short and sweet. Seems very rushed when considering all the horrific trauma the omega had to endure for 10 years and then get pregnant by rape. The alpha mmc definitely is definitely on the spectrum, adhd, sensory sensitivity… I think if it had been a longer book they could have had a normal length pregnancy and gotten to know each other on a deeper level, now it’s just implied and we have to trust that they have this deep bond after like 3 months.
Such a good series. I loved this book like I have every book in this series.
Chance is the trauma councillor at the Omegas Shelter and a golden retriever shifter. Unfortunately, in my opinion, we don't see enough of his dog shifter side. Brett, an omega who has been kept prisoner for ten years in his shifter werewolf side, is now scared to shift again.
MPREG, past trauma, drama and, of course, many of our favourite characters pop in and out. What more could we ask for in a shifter book. Well written as usual by these two. I can't wait for the next book in the series.
Susi Hawke and Crista Crown bring us another wonderful book knot to be missed! Beautifully written with complex characters and plot, this book is sure to become a favourite! I love everything by these ladies. Don't miss out on this book!!
Chance is why dogs are man's best friend. He is such an adorable alpha. Brett is the surprise. Commanding our love and is perfect for the hyper therapist Chance. Love this series.
I'm reading this out of order, which is fine, but lots of grammar things. I'm also feeling kinda meh. There's nothing about being a wolverine that is mentioned....no distinct difference from any other shifter.
Really good i hope the alphabits find the babies that might have been taken. Huge part wish Stahp still ate people .. but love thisory like the others . Thank you for another hit series
Brett has spent years in his animal form. He has almost forgotten how to be human. Chance was supposed to be his doctor but he is more. He is his mate. Great reading.
I’ve adored every tale from this interconnected and ever expanding world and it was great to see a new story from these two authors, can’t wait for more!
