From the first bitcoin transaction of 10k for two Papa John's pizzas to $60k+ BTC and maybe the moon beyond, we cover the whole crazy, improbable journey of how a single 8-page PDF document changed the world of money — and perhaps the world itself — forever.
We are talking about the single greatest 10-year investment return in human history—Bitcoin. In just over a decade, it has gone from less than 1¢ per bitcoin to over $60,000—a 6,000,000X investment return.
Whether you are HODLing on for dear life and riding it to the moon, or whether you think this whole thing is a crazy bubble that's about to pop, there is no denying the unbelievable cleverness of invention of all the math and mechanism behind the Bitcoin protocol itself.
It is truly a beautiful and ingenious system, but by who? We don't even really know who invented it. We will dive into the complete history behind the creation of Bitcoin by the pseudonymous Satoshi Nakamoto, the different factions that pushed it to evolve to its several chapters since 2009 into the mainstream today, and we'll evaluate its position today with a strategic lens.
Is Bitcoin a new form of money, an investment opportunity, the start of a new global economy, or just completely a scam?
We will dive deep into the history, technology and the future of BTC in this book.
Shivam Singh believes that understanding the technology that shapes our world is the first step toward financial empowerment. This belief has guided his journey as an author, where he has explored everything from the foundations of system design to the cultural revolution sparked by cryptocurrency in popular books like In Crypto We Trust and Just Enough Tech.
Today, Shivam applies this expertise as the Founder & CEO of Cent Capital. His company is at the forefront of using Generative AI to make financial wellness and sophisticated guidance accessible to everyone, directly addressing the global crisis of financial inequality. Through his writing and his work, Shivam is dedicated to empowering people with the knowledge and tools they need to build a better financial future.
This might be the right book to start with if you want to understand Blockchain. It covers the basics without going into too much depth technical side. This is an excellent book for people starting to explore bitcoin and blockchain fundamentals.
Reading the books was a delight, and I can see myself coming back to this book in the future for references on various topics.
It was an entertaining and informative read for me. I was a decade too late to take part in this spectacular phenomenon. But the book saved me otherwise many extra hours of homework and gave me a jump-start on this hot subject.
This book is a wonderful primer on cryptocurrencies. It was a chronicle survey of bitcoin's early development between 2010 and 2014. It told the stories concerning the major players during the period, including the inventor Satoshi Nakamoto, whose identity has never been confirmed, online drug dealer Ross Ulbricht, who was arrested. It covered major events around the world, like the collapse of a Japan-based leading global bitcoin exchange Mt. Gox. It hailed the creative, tenacious, and resilient American entrepreneurial spirits.
The author traced the bitcoin price movement during the period, with the driving force behind each major gyration sufficiently delineated. The book introduced Nakamoto's initial ideology when he invented bitcoin: a disintermediated, decentralized, and anonymous financial network that will help create a socialist utopia. However, throughout the early opalization of the digital currency, all aspects of the ideology, as mentioned earlier, were challenged.
Shivam Singh laid out the various debates on the merit and prognosis of bitcoin while mostly assuming a neutral position. It neither encourages nor discourages the reader from jumping on the bitcoin bandwagon.
I have read several on this topic now, and THIS is the book that everyone should read to understand the history of money, from beads and rocks to the evolution of digital currency. Current fiscal policy is explained as regard to how money works, how digital currency can change the world, and why you can be confident in it.
Governments have control over money, meaning they have control over you. Bitcoin offers freedom from control and inflation. There will only ever be 21 million bitcoins (there are smaller denominations)--not like US dollars, where the continual printing of more and more tends to devalue your money.
I could go on, but I wish this book/topic was a class for high schoolers to understand better what money is, why it has value, and how to invest in their futures as current fiscal policies cannot continue.
This is a complete guide to cryptocurrency, particularly the granddaddy of them all, Bitcoin. Because the subject is covered in all aspects and done with both enthusiasm and skepticism, it is the perfect tutorial and overview in an easy read. Five stars come easily.
This brief account of what I learned in the book gives an idea of what cryptocurrencies are. Still, Shivam Singh goes far beyond the technical to tell the reader about the founders, those pushing cryptocurrencies. He writes of the challenges of the competing digital currencies, the infamous failure of Mt. Gox, and governments' attitude toward this new threat to government control over the currency.
