”While’s he’s my anchor in this world, you’re my happy place. The softness to his hardness. He’s the moon in the night sky, but you’re my sunshine.”
I think I have just found my favourite MMF book.
I was waiting for this book. We met Lily as a side character in one of the author’s previous books, and I was so excited to read her story. And safe to say it didn’t dissapoint me, at all.
I adore MMF books and i’ve been reading a lot of them lately but this one is probably my favourite of the bunch. I just loved how everything was done in this one.
Brief Summary
Lily wants to have a threesome with two hot guys. But she’s a little wary of the whole thing because she had one with her ex and he left her for the other guy. But she tries it with Blaine and Scott, who are best friends, because Blaine is not interested in guys. But the more time they spend together, the more Blaine realizes that he wants to be with Lily and Scott and they all end up falling in love with each other.
First, I loved the relationship in this one, so much. Blaine and Scott were best friends. And I loved how you could tell that they knew everything about each other. I loved how they made space for each other and how nice to each other they were. They had such a deep and lovely bound and I just adored reading about it. And I loved how well Lily complimented them. She was the perfect foil for the both of them and she just added to their existing relationship. The relationship in this book was just so swoony, I loved it, so much.
Second, this book was so hot. I’m pretty sure that my jaw was on the floor for half of this book because the sex scenes were just that hot. I don’t even have words to explain how hot the sex scenes were because they were just some of the best I have ever read.
Third, In poly romances, it’s easy for one of the member of the couple to start feeling like the matter less, but it never was the case in this book. I loved how equal everyone felt. I truly felt like all three members of this relationship were super equal to each other and that they all loved each other dearly. I loved how they all had separated connections with each other, with all of them bounding with each other, it made for a super nice dynamic and it really helped in making it feel like no one wasn’t as important as the others. Also, the fact that everyone had a point of view for about the same amount of pages really helped with that, too.
Also, I just adored how it was made clear that they were all into each other and all in love with each other. That just made the relationship feel so equal and perfect to me.
Fourth, Lily’s had a threesome with her ex and another guy and her ex left her for the other guy, so she was warry of being with two guys who would also want her each other. I really appreciated how the book handled these insecurities. I liked that Lily was insecure but she never pushed Scott and Blaine away and I liked how she pushed them to get together and explore what could be between them, even if she was insecure about the whole thing. I really liked how sweet she was about everything and how she didn’t lash at them for her insecurities. Also, I liked how she was ready to try and get pass them instead of letting them control her life. And also, I expecially adored how even if she had insecurities, she wanted Blaine and Scott to be together and she never hid that fact, that really worked for me. And I really loved how Scott and Blaine made sure to always include her and to show her that they want her and will never leave her. The way her insecurities were handled was so brillant and I just loved it, so much.
Fifth, this book had a lot of talks of religion and cults. Lily is from a super religious family who forced their limiting beliefs on her and she just escaped their hold. And Blaine’s family was part of a religious cunt and that experience left him scared and traumatized. This author is one of my favourite when it comes to religious themes because I always adore how she handles them. I loved how this book showed that religion can have a really negative effect on how people and the trauma that it inflicted them. I just adored how it was done in this book and it was one of my favourite part of the book because it was absolutely fascinating to read.
Also, quick warning, this book goes into heavy details about abuse in the name of religious, the physical and sexual kind. It’s the kind of think thats super hard to read about, so be be careful with that.
Sixth, I just wanna talk about the best friends to lovers part of this book between Scott and Blaine because it was just done, so well. I adore a good best friends to lovers trope and I just loved how this one was done. Scott had been pining and being in love with Blaine since they met, but he didn’t want to confess because he knew that Blaine wasn’t into men. But I loved how Blaine slowly allowed himself to explore his feelings for Scott and how he realized that was into him too. Also, I loved how Blaine and Scott truly read like two best friends who know everything about each other. The best friends to lovers part of this book was just absolutely wonderful and I adored it.
Seventh, sexual discovery is one of my favourite thing to read about in books. And I loved how it was done in this one. I really loved following Blaine as he discovered that he is into Scott and also wants to be with him. Blaine had been in a cult when he was younger and what he went through there was traumatizing enough to stop him from entertaining thoughts about being with men. So he had a lot of feelings to deal with but I really liked how these were shown and how he slowly realized that he’s attracted to Scott.
I just enjoyed reading this book, so so much. This was such a fascinating and wonderful reading experience and i’m really glad that I had it.
I received an ARC of this book, and this is my honest opinion
