Matchmaker's Mix-Up #17

Audie's Audacious Bride

Rate this book
When disappointed hopes collide – Will a wilting mail-order bride muster enough resolve to soften a hardened rancher’s heart?

Faith Fairchild is destitute and has no other choice but to comply with her late father’s last wish—to find a husband through a matchmaking service. As a pastor’s daughter, she trusts his advice but believes hard work and commitment combined with a bit of romance will give her the desired goal of “happily ever after.”

Her application reads, “I’m at my best when surrounded by others. My ideal husband will live in town. Perhaps a tailor, shopkeeper, or someone running a diner. I am a hard worker, love to cook and sew, and would love the opportunity of working side by side as partners.”

Ranch owner Audie Harris has one single goal – to make the family ranch a success and secure it for future generations. He needs a wife who understands that the isolation and hard work of cattle farming are necessary to achieve his goal. With a young sister to raise and numerous ranch hands to feed, his application for a suitable wife reads, “a woman of robust stock, a good cook, and willing to produce a houseful of children.”

What does he get? “I asked for a practical woman with ranch experience, and they send me a Southern Belle who has more petticoats than she does sense.”

Can this mismatched couple blaze a trail to form a partnership of the romantic kind?

Kimberly Grist is married to her high school sweetheart, Nelson, who is a pastor in Griffin, Georgia. She and her husband have three adult sons, one with Down syndrome, and she has a passion to encourage others in offering a special needs ministry in the church. Kim is also a grandmother and proud to be a child of the living God. She feels called to help and encourage others and to share experiences both good and bad in order to be the witness that God would have us to be.
Kim has enjoyed writing since she was a young girl, however, began writing her first novel in 2017. Inspired by so many things life has to offer one of which includes her oldest son’s diagnosis of cancer she finds it especially gratifying to write a happy ending. “Suffering is, of course, is my least favorite thing. My objective is not to discuss my struggles specifically but to combine a love of history with biblical principles to produce a clean historical Christian romance, that shows how God uses adversity for our good in ways we may never expect.”

Combining, History, Humor, and Romance with an emphasis on Faith, Friends and Good Clean Fun, Rebecca’s Hope, a work of fiction that reminds us how God can use adversity to strengthen us and draw us closer to Him and give us the desires of our heart in ways we may never expect.

Fans of historical romance set in late 19th-century will enjoy this beautiful story of love and forgiveness. As the unfortunate circumstances of Rebecca's childhood are revealed, we discover a heroine who is both resilient and kind. Rebecca and Sam's love story will have readers rooting for their happy ending

What happens when a matchmaker is sick and her cat mixes up her clients papers? Well, things might get interesting when the wrong lady goes to someone totally opposite of what she wants and he doesn't get what he needs!

Audie needed help running his ranch. The problem was his sister was determined to leave and become a mail order bride to a man she had been writing. He really didn't want her to leave, but she had arranged for his bride to be arriving soon. He just didn't know if he could trust another woman.

Faith has become a mail order bride due to her father passing away and truly having no other choice. She just wants to not stray far from her life as a pastor's daughter. Well is she in for a surprise!!

I adore these stories so much and Kimberly tells them from the heart! You don't always get what you think you want but God makes sure you get what you need!

This is a sweet and heartwarming story with lots of humor as well as strife. This is Faith Fairchild and Audie Harris' story, and the character development is outstanding. Faith, a pastor's daughter, was destitute and knew she needed to follow her deceased father's wishes and find a husband through a matchmaking service. Faith, while being well schooled in all the household tasks, loved being around people and preferred to live in town. Audie Harris a hardworking rancher's desire was to find a practical woman who was willing to live on the isolated ranch and be able to help him make the ranch a success and produce a houseful of children. Both of them register with the same matchmaking service but then "oops" the applications get scrambled up and neither one of them got what they requested. There are a lot of adjustments, strife, as well a sense of humor the couple will have to work through if they are to reach a HEA? Be sure and read this outstanding story; I know you enjoy it as much as I did.

The Audacity of Faith

Kimberly Grist's second contribution to the Matchmaker's Mix-up series is delightfully different than most MOB tropes. She diverts from the usual drama often associated with such plots and instead, presents the ordinary of the everyday as the medium towards growing in married love. Moreover, her "ordinary" is elevated with the witty exchanges between contrasting, yet ultimately compatible characters. The romance between her characters is breathtakingly authentic, not tainted with tawdry raciness, thereby presenting a sexual strain that is both pure and palpable. Finally, she teaches the godliness of the married state without puffy proselytizing or unsavory Scripture-spitting. I highly recommend.

Audie's Audacious Bride is the pastor's daughter Faith Fairchild from Chicago. Texas ranch owner Audie Harris's suitable wife is a woman of robust stock, a good cook, and willing to live on a ranch in isolation. Faith has spunk and uses creativity with the children. As stated in Proverbs: A merry heart doeth good like a medicine. This avid reader enjoys Kimberly Grist's unique start to each chapter - a quote from one of the characters. A sweet clean page turning story with a touch of drama and romance. I received a complimentary copy and opinions expressed are my own.

Audie's Audacious Bride

This is another wonderful book by Kimberly Grist and a wonderful addition to this series. It's a clean, sweet historical western romance that was so well written, that I hated to see the book end. The characters were well developed and the children in the book kept me laughing throughout. Their faith in God carried them through the rough spots and I loved watching their love grow. This is definitely a book you don't want to miss!!

Such An Enjoyable Quick Read!

I really enjoyed this book about a mail order bride and her groom. There were spats and problems at first, but the young couple went from disagreeing on everything to cooperating with one another. It was really a happily ever after tale as they moved from a wedding in the local jail (because the pastor was away) to a community celebration with the pastor officiating. I look forward to reading more books in this series.

Audie and Faith

I loved reading as Audie and Faith Honey learned that the matchmaker had not matched them as they’d expected. It was interesting how they managed to see the worth of their partners and learned to love each other in spite of or maybe because of their differences. If you like mail order bride romance with a twist you should love Audie’s Audacious Bride.

Kimberly Grist adds another good book to this series. Who knew that a cat could be a matchmaker? Once again the matches could not have been more opposite to what each had asked for. I love how Faith’s faith keeps her going. Audie has to step out on faith also. I really enjoyed this courtship.

Opposites

They seemed like they came from opposite worlds and were totally mismatched. This romance was built on love, faith, and learning to appreciate each other while making a home for a handful of children -- handful in more ways than one. I enjoyed the characters. A fun read.

Another great read

Audie and Faith are two wonderful characters. Love how open Faith is with her history. Once again I love the marriage vows and the way the community rallied around the couple.
Once again Mrs. Grist knocks it out of the park. A must read if you enjoy clean romance with a bit of strong characters mixed with a dash of scripture and some.of the best wedding scenes ever.

Audie- due to lufe experience has little to no trust of woman. Has a younger sister and a ranch he wants to make profitable also care of 4 orphaned boys.
Faith - not your typical preachers daughter she is so much more! Loved her character.
I enjoyed reading this inspirational story that is well written with unforgettable characters. Their relationship started as marring as virtual strangers but grew to get to know each other with respect and love. Their story has a loving HEA!
