As with the other Avengers adaptations the cast were very good, the sound design didn’t swamp the voices (unlike a number of the Big Finish Doctor Who releases unfortunately), and the stories were entertaining whilst I listened to them.
Why an indecisive score then - tbh nothing I can put my finger on. Yes the stories were fun to listen to and did reflect Avengersland but I think I just prefer the Avengers on tv. The lost stories season worked I think because they were thriller oriented plots, by the time of Mrs Peel the stories and characters are much more absurd and exaggerated. That is difficult to represent in audio only, also why the only radio comedy shows I like are pre 1970 I suspect , as they were written for radio only by writers whose careers had been spent in the medium.
Overall the. I did enjoy these but I doubt the stories will stick in my memory for very long, and it is unlikely a re-listen will happen any time soon.
But still a definite recommendation for Avengers fans
