Kirby wanted a true love mate but that was off the table... until he met the girl he was supposed to marry.
Kirby loves a few things in his life: friends, family, his pack and hockey. He focused his attention on not causing trouble for the pack and scoring a ton of goals for the Minneapolis Wild. He would do anything for the pack including marrying a girl for the stability of the pack even if that meant he had to give up his desire for a true love match. Then all of a sudden his betrothed showed up and he finds out that he doesn’t have to marry her since he didn’t have political aspirations. He seemed to be off the hook, except for one thing: he had to let her be his roommate when she moved to America to attend University.
Her early arrival to America was twofold. To pursue her education and more importantly for the Scottish pack, to choose who she'd marry. She was no longer betrothed to Kirby Blades, but she was still expected to marry one of the strongest members of their pack. Between hanging out with Kirby and trying to date other pack members, she realized one thing. She wanted Kirby. If only he wasn't so submissive off the ice, she could pursue a relationship with him.
When Kirby finally makes his move will it pay off or is it too late?
If you love werewolves and hockey romances, this is the book for you.
*** Making A Move takes place in the Loving the Sound series (a contemporary hockey romance series) timeline but it's not necessary to read the other series first to enjoy this one.
This is a good paranormal hockey romance with some uniqueness to the plot and shifters. This one is a slow build for Kirby and Lottie. The story develops very nicely with some entertaining and fun aspects. They started out arranged to be married but that was taken off the table and end up roommates. They form a friendship that leads to more. Such a good romance and read.
When I embarked on my first reading of a book in this series, “Taking A Chance (Loving the Wild Book 1)”, I tended to avoid certain tropes, shifters and sports romance among them. Still, as a hockey fan, I could immediately appreciate the irony of a team of shifters and other paranormal creatures playing for a team in Minneapolis called “The Wild.” This is a team that every team might dread playing against because they hit hard and often and are always cranky on the ice. What I loved was how easily, despite my reluctance to legitimatize the sub-genre, I was drawn into a story that felt bigger than the book I was reading. What was a forgone conclusion of a love story, (How could it be anything else when the certainty of a true love mate was announced before the first date?) set the stage for what could be an epic tale. Characters were introduced that had stories of their own that I couldn’t wait to hear. The groundwork was laid to elucidate the inner workings of not only a werewolf pack, but also a disparate group of shifters and vampires who just want to play a game they love while keeping the humans they play against none the wiser to a paranormal reality. It was made all the better for being a spin-off of the completely human normal “Loving The Sound” series
In the new book, “Making A Move: (Loving the Wild Book 2)“, we pick up Kirby’s story. A natural werewolf, he was at one time a potential leader in the pack so a betrothal was made between Kirby and Charlotte Stewart, an alpha daughter in the UK wolfpack. While Kirby’s status has changed, Charlotte still needs a mate, and he is chosen to look after her as his roommate while she gets to know the alphas in the area. As in the first book Kirby, at first, comes across as easy going and a natural keeper of the status quo. As his attraction to Lottie grows he finds he must step things up to meet his full potential if he is going to have a chance at the life he wants.
Looking back to Dez’s story that potential was always there. Kirby took the lead in welcoming the lone wolf omega to the team, as the best tracker in the pack, he chased Dez down when his panic over his new mate sent him into flight mode (not to mention his being essential in the capturing of the rogue wolf who made Dez in the first place). More importantly, Kirby made himself available to help Dez as he tried to fit in with his new worldview. In my humble opinion, Kirby has what it takes, he is a good friend and a natural lead by example leader, but as his story unfolds it is easy to see why he may be reluctant to push himself forward. A young woman like Lottie with her practicality and diplomacy might be just what is needed to bring it out in him.
Along with returning characters such as Paddy and Delaney being filled out a bit more, we meet some great new characters like the aforementioned Lottie, a wolf princess with a touch of magic, and Kirby’s brother-in-law Perry and irrepressible niece Mason, all of whom add a bit more history and intrigue into this growing story. We get to see more of the inner workings and lore of the packs. The world-building is slow burning, while the romance is ice meltingly hot. I am so ready for more of this series.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rating: 5 out of 5. I received an advance review copy through Kat Obie for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Lottie’s father is the Scottish Alpha. He arranges for Lottie to stay with the Americans’ pack while she attends college. Kirby had originally been contracted to be her mate when his father was the American Alpha’s second, to establish a strategic alliance. The American and Scottish alphas agree that Lottie can choose another American shifter as her mate if she wishes during her time in America. Lottie is assigned to be Kirby’s roommate while she goes to school. It takes a while and some plot twists before Kirby and Lottie get to their HEA. This book was an interesting introduction for me to Kat Obie’s shifter world. It took me a while to figure out some of the references to the use of magic, other characters including Kirby’s hockey team-mates, the notion of “alpha-lites,” and some other world building that is uniquely hers. I suspect it would have been helpful to have read the first book in the series before this story. I enjoyed the book though, and am looking forward to reading the other stories in this series. This book is a shifter sports romance, two of my favorite tropes. I really loved it. Kirby and Lottie had been arranged to be married but they no longer have to go through with it since his father is no longer in a position of power in the pack. Lottie will still live with him while she goes to school and looks for a new pack member to marry. Kirby and Lottie spend a lot of time together and become really good friends. After some time, Kirby realizes that he really likes Lottie and wants to be with her. Kirby is quite, he starts to realize that if he doesn't do something he may lose his chances with Lottie. What will Kirby do to get over his quietness and show that he can be the one for Lottie. This was a great read, I can't wait for the series to continue.
Kirby doesn't want to be pushed into marriage for the stability of the pack, so he is surprised when he ends up just been the roommate to his once betrothed Charlotte (Lottie). He tries to concentrate on Hockey like usual, but Lottie keeps drawing his attention. Will Kirby and Lottie end up as more than roommates? I loved this paranormal romance, Kirby is thoughtful and giving (and so easy to love), and Lottie is caring and understanding (loved her too), I loved the attraction between them, and the dramas that played out in their story. I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received, and giving my thoughts and opinions on it.
Kirby Blades was originally in a position in the pack where he was chosen as a possible mate for Charlotte Stewart from a Scottish pack. When she came to America for college, the alphas decided to let her choose her own mate, but Kirby would be her roommate to keep an eye out for her while she was there.
Kirby seems kind of quiet. But as his interest in Lottie grows, he starts to realize that he needs to do something or he will lose his chance with her. Is Lottie also interested in Kirby? Will the two of them give a relationship a try?
I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this book despite not being fond of paranormal, shifter genre. This is a well written, action packed, shifter hockey team book with wonderful characters. Kirby Blader has been engaged to the Scottish Alpha's youngest daughter since young. Now that his father is no longer the Alpha, his engagement is off, but she becomes his roommate while going to college in Minnesota. She's expected to find a mate with one of the alpha light of the pack. This is their story.
I thought this was such an entertaining romance. I love Kirby and Lottie as they are such sweethearts. I really enjoyed seeing Kirby’s transformation and adore that he has such great teammates who care enough about him to help him out. Add in a twist I really didn’t expect and this book was even more enjoyable to read.
I received a free advanced review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my fair and honest opinion.
This was my first book from Kat and I wasn't sure what to expect. It's been a long time since I read a book with shifters and I'm happy to say this was a great one to get my feet wet again. It was a fast pace book that really kept my interest. I really enjoyed Lottie and Kirby's journey and how they came together. I mean, how can you not like a hot hockey wolf finding his mate in such a way.
When I read the first book in this series I wasn’t sure that I would like it. I don’t generally read books about werewolves and vampires but I’m a hockey fan and enjoyed her other hockey books. I’m glad I took a chance, read it and couldn’t wait for this one. This one is even better than the first one. It answered some questions on how things work for werewolves during the change and finding a mate. It’s a fast read and makes you anxious for the next one. Can’t wait.
When I read the first book in this series I wasn’t sure since paranormal romance has never been a favorite of mine! But, werewolves and hockey? You got me! I couldn’t wait for Kirby and Lottie’s story and I was not disappointed! If you love hot hockey players and want to add some paranormal to that, this is a MUST READ FOR YOU!
This is a well written paranormal / hockey story with strong characters in Kirby and Lottie. It's an entertaining story with watching them come together and falling in love. The story moves quickly and smoothly with perfectly painted scenes and is a great read.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
I love sports romances and I love shifter novels, but I wasn’t sure how they could work together. However it worked and made an enjoyable story!. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Kirby wanted a true mate but would do anything for his pack. When the Scottish alpha brings his daughter Lottie to Minneapolis where she would study and find a mate. She was no longer required to marry Kirby but would stay with him. Fate and friends step in when Kirby and Lottie meet for the first time and realize they are mates. I really enjoyed the descriptions of their mating and the pitfalls.
This is the second book in this series Loving the Wild. This is the story of Kirby and Lottie and their journey to happily ever after. Lottie is from the Scottish pack and is coming to the American pack and Kirby is going to be looking after her. This is their journey and it will keep you interested all the way through. Looking forward to read the next book.
Lottie and Kirby are strong characters. The writing is vivid and detailed with a wonderful smooth flow. The story kept me interested. The world building is unique and developed. I really liked the mix of paranormal and hockey in this book.
Kat Obie does it again. The Loving the Wild series is now my favorite paranormal/shifter series. Kirby and Lottie are relatable in how they come together while facing challenges along the way. Including Kirby stepping up and coming into his own leading to a change in pack order.
Kirby was supposed to have an arranged marriage with a daughter of an Alpha in Scotland. Since he is no longer the Alpha's son, it changes his status, so the engagement is off. It is decided that Lottie will stay with Kirby while finishing school, he does not understand why, if they are no longer engaged.
The more the two spend time together, the closer they get but is still considered an acceptable suitor for Lottie?
I am really liking this series, cannot wait for the next installment.

I absolutely loved this book. It kept me wanting to read it from start to finish, I didn’t want to put the book down. I also loved all the characters. I definitely recommend this book. I’m also going to recommend this book to some of my friends cause I know they would absolutely love this book.
I liked Kirby & Lottie’s book. It was an entertaining read. And was a new author for me. I got a copy of the book. And am voluntarily leaving my review.

I loved this story more than I thought I would. I read the first book in the series because I wanted to find out how Kat was going to tie PNR and hockey together. One is a genre I never read (PNR) and the other is one of my favorites. As soon as I finished book 1, I was beginning for book 2. I needed to know more about Kirby. I love how this book brings in more of the lore and pack history. Coming into this series as reader who doesn't understand PNR much at all, it was refreshing to not be inundated with all of it in the first book because that can feel really heavy.
I think Kirby is one of the sweetest characters Kat has written in any of her series and I loved getting to know him more in his book. It was also fun to see him be unsure of himself and his feelings vs the stereotypical alpha on the ice must be an alpha in his relationships too, but we actually get see Kirby grow into his alpha side when it's something he hasn't wanted previously.
Lottie comes from Scotland to go to school. It is decided that she will live with Kirby and the American pack to be safe. Theirs is a journey that moves from easy friendship to so much more. I love the world building of the werewolf life. I love the hesitation regarding what her dad, the Scotland alpha will say. I love that Kirby is so loving and caring and nurturing and easy and laid back. I love his transformation. I love the drama and the angst and the hockey. This is a sweet, sexy story that is fun and flirty and easy to read. I want more. I want Perry to get a HEA. I want more Mason and I want to know more about her mom, Kirby's sister.
I enjoy Kat Obie's paranormal romances. Kirby and Lottie were arranged to be married. Their pack politics changed after Kirby's dad lost his standing. Kirby has dealt with a lot in his life. When Lottie comes to America to study, she is placed in Kirby's house. Having Lottie close changed Kirby's plans.
MAKING A MOVE is the second in Kat Obie’s paranormal shifter hockey series about the all-shifter Wild team operating under the radar of their human counterparts.
Player Kirby Blades has been eager to find his mate. He’s seen the special connection that brings and longs to find that sense of belonging and peace. When he’s freed from a betrothal previously arranged by his father, he is surprised he isn’t more relieved.
Scottish shifter Charlotte Stewart has moved to the States to attend university, and to meet her betrothed. When a change in circumstances sets that arrangement aside, she realizes she now has the freedom to choose.
Lottie and Kirby tumble into a roommates to more situation, and again, it is interesting to see Ms Obie’s take on the shifter universe. Another entertaining read.
A great concept, a hockey team consisting of shifters that not only score points but also your heart!
A beautiful story of Kirby and Lotte. First they are engaged, then it is broken and she becomes his roommate. Only then do Kirby and Lotte realize what the other means to them. Calm structure with regular sports scene makes this an easy to read book. recommended.
