Jake Miller knows how to tell a story. He also knows how to turn just about anything he’s experienced in life and in the classroom into a metaphor to both inspire and inform you to know better and then do better when it comes to finding the right tool for the task. Every challenge he has faced and found solutions for are well laid out, compared, and explained (both pros and cons). At the end of the day, as well as at the end of each chapter in this book, you get to decide what tool you want to use as you continue to build your ideal classroom drip by drip. Jake may not be a pro basketball player but he knows how to dominate a bounce house 😜 Do yourself a favor and buy this book so you can stand atop his capable shoulders and learn from his experience and guidance as you navigate the ever expanding menu of edtech tools.

From the first chapter I was hooked. Real classroom experiences with ways you could apply the ideas in your classroom built in. Love the thoughtful questions at the end of each chapter.

I read a lot of teacher technology books and this was one of my favorites. I enjoyed how each chapter started out as a story then gave practical tips for technology. I would recommend it to other educators as well! Also, love Jake Miller's Podcast by the same name.

Read this at work today. Yes, it's work related! So many good tips and tricks. I took a ton of notes. The EduDuctTape hub is filtered on my work network so I will have to dive into that at home. Looking forward to more information from Jake Miller about all things ed tech!

Jake Miller uses his fun and engaging style to illustrate how a wide variety of EdTech tools can be selected and utilized by teachers. He focuses on their many uses and how we can select them for lessons.

I liked how he focused on formative assessment for the last half of the book. This is incredibly important as we live in the "age of formative" assessment with all of the tools we have to collect data to drive our instruction in real-time.

Additionally, Jake provides us with an easy flow and visuals as well as personal experiences that keep us engaged throughout the book! Great work, overall that I recommend!

So many helpful bitesize tips for using technology in the classroom! Jake’s philosophy as well as his realistic “drip by drip” approach to using tech tools for effectiveness is refreshing and motivating. I’m planning to reread yearly and share many things I’ve learned with teachers I support.

“Effectiveness rather than impressiveness is the goal.”

Educational Duct Tape is really about teaching, not technology, which is why this book is so good. Formative assessment and student-paced learning are a couple of the topics addressed. Jake Miller's funny writing style keeps readers entertained as they are picking and choosing which #EduDuctTape Questions they want to read more about. That's right, Miller encourages the readers to only read what is applicable to them. I love it when an author knows educators are busy. If you want a book that covers teaching strategies, suggests some tech tools, and keeps you laughing, then this is the book for you!

I loved everything about this book. Jake’s writing style is like a conversation over tea. He makes a personal connection poses a question, asks if you’re interested, and then shared ideas and solutions. At the end of each chapter I was off and running with new ideas to try in my classroom and share with my peers. Now I’m starting a book club with EdTech leaders to discuss Jake’s ideas and expand with our own. This book has been a game changer for me.
